Full textThis work describes the results achieved by incorporating the tools of Total Productive Maintenance to improve the level of quality, reduce waste and Non-Conforming Product in the Flexography process in the Amcor Company dedicated to the manufacture of flexible envelopes. In the first place, the analysis of the current situation was made, in which it was identified that the company has low quality problems in the manufacturing process of the flexible packaging from the Flexography process, this is due to the high rate of waste and non-conforming product, caused by the lack of standardized procedures. Secondly, the methodology of Total Productive Maintenance was used applying the pillars of Autonomous and Planned Maintenance in order to solve the systemic problems of the operator. As a result, cleaning and work cleaning procedures were standardized. Also, basic maintenance tasks were inserted to the operator using autonomous maintenance, managing to reduce systemic problems in the process. Finally, with the implementation of the TPM applying the pillars of the Autonomous and Planned Maintenance, it was possible to increase the rate of quality index from 92% to 95%, reduce waste by splicing and defects by 13% and 17% respectively, and the Product Not Conform to 17%, achieving annual savings of USD 320,512. In summary, the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance in the Flexography process with the results obtained, may be useful to researchers who need to improve production processes in an organization.

Full textThe consumption of bottled water has experienced a great increase since 2013. The bottled water industry, currently, is present in most of the main cities of the country, it is a product of massive consumption and indispensable for the daily activities of the population. Thus, in Peru, water treatment plants in the SME sector have low operational efficiency in their production lines. This problem generates defaults in the deliveries of the orders, which represents economic losses that border around 15% of their annual sales, this is due to the fact that they incur in downtime and the lack of necessary maintenance. Therefore, this study developed a model that will increase plant efficiency through the application of the SMED tool and autonomous maintenance that will reduce set-up times and breakdowns, respectively. The proposed model aims to reduce set up times by up to 36%, while for breakdown time by up to 60%, thus reaching a percentage greater than 80% in-plant efficiency (OEE).

Full textThe high productive times of the processes have led to the production costs within a company to increase. Due to this, many authors proposed the use of different tools that can solve this problem. This research work proposes the use of autonomous maintenance tools, 5's, plant distribution and automation to improve the filling process of a bottled water company. The objective of this research is to reduce the times of the filling process by reducing unproductive times and organizing the worker's position. Various methods have been applied to find and select the best tools that can fix the root causes of this problem. In this way, it was possible to design a solution that covers all the causes that cause this problem. Upon completion of the implementation in the Arena program, it was possible to increase OEE by 54.21%, reduce the rate of products delivered out of time by 37.54% and increase the efficiency of the machine by 19.16%.

Arroyo, Huayta Carlos Alberto, and Raimundis Edward Sebastian Cruces. "Modelo para mejorar la eficiencia en el área de extrusión de una pyme manufacturera del sector plástico basado en SMED, Mantenimiento Autónomo y 5s." Bachelor's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/651811.
Full textIn the current context, Peruvian SMEs that belong to the plastic sector have an indicator of installed capacity utilization of around 71.45%. This measures the degree of use of production potential, which is diminished by efficiency problems. In the company under study this indicator is below the sector average, with a low efficiency of 78%, which is caused by breakdowns, reprocesses and setup times generated in the extruder machines. In this sense, this article proposes a model to improve efficiency in the extrusion area consisting of the integrated application of Lean Manufacturing tools: 5s, SMED and autonomous maintenance. The first one is used as a support tool for the execution of SMED and autonomous maintenance. The SMED tool can reduce the configuration time while the autonomous maintenance had as a reduction the amount of reprocesses and breakdowns in the extrusion process. This model was validated by implementing a pilot of the solution proposal. The results obtained were the increase in availability in 3% and quality in 3%. These results together represent an increase in efficiency from 78% to 83%.

Full textThis work presents the problem of excessive waste of labels that is generated in the printing of these. The printing process is the key process of the company, since it transforms the plastic rolls together with the inks and an error in the procedures causes the loss of the material entered and money. This drives to propose solutions through Lean techniques in the production of labels. In general, the studies are based on other lines in the plastic sector, such as pipes, bags, containers, among others. To address this problem, the Lean Manufacturing methodology adapted to a cycle of continuous improvement will be used, forming a solution proposal model, with techniques such as support 5s, the application of Autonomous Maintenance, Kanban and Standardization of Work. Based on a pilot test, a waste reduction of 7.78% and an improvement in the indicators that are involved in the investigation are obtained.

Full textNowadays, organizations in the cotton knitwear industry have had to adapt to a client who is not willing to pay an additional cost for activities that do not add value to the product. In Peru, exporting companies of cotton knitwear are closed every year, since they cannot compete with countries such as China and Hong Kong due to their high production costs. Therefore, the aim of this article is to develop a production management model based on Lean Manufacturing techniques and standardization of operations to reduce waste in the production flow, thus improving quality, and reducing production time and costs. For this, Production model and Continuous improvement (PDCA) were implemented. It was validated in an export company of cotton knitwear in Peru, where it was posible to obtain as an improvement the efficiency by 10%, reduce defective products by 20% and generate savings of 5,000 soles per month.

Full textThe purpose of this paper is to present a maintenance study focused on total productive maintenance (TPM) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM). Its approach is based on the first pillars of TPM, preventive and autonomous maintenance, as well as the FMEA analysis of RCM for maintenance analysis, which was conducted in this study. The implementation of TPM was successful in that various preventive maintenance (PM) policies assigned to the assets were implemented and it was demonstrated that TPM application in the construction industry could reduce the excessive accumulation of maintenance with the same effective optimization, and with support from RCM analysis and its heavy equipment systems analysis. Excessive corrective maintenance accounts for high investment and delay rates in work times of the assigned project. Traditional methods of availability guarantee, such as reactive or routine maintenance, are insufficient to satisfy a heavy equipment maintenance plan; therefore, what is called for is the systematic application of RCM and TMP because they allow the selection and application of effective PM tasks. An approach that develops and thoroughly analyzes the strategies of continuous corrective and PM is used with an atmosphere of uncertainty and with operational data limited by criticism. Results show a 90% improvement in availability.

Bachelor's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/657100.
Full textThroughout the years the plastic sector has had a continuous growth, generating an increase in productivity. However, in the MYPES there was a negative impact, due to the low level of productive efficiency. The present investigation has as a case study a MYPE of the sector in question. The analysis determined that the main reasons for the problem were high downtime due to breakdowns and excessive setup time. For this reason, a maintenance model is proposed based on the BPM, SMED tools and the autonomous and planned maintenance pillars of the TPM, which provided the following results: reduction of the MTTR from 5.33 hr to 2.63 hr, breakdown times from 36 hr at 14 hr per month and the setup time from 125.07 min to 52.61 min. Likewise, the level of satisfaction with the purchase of spare parts increased from 62% to 96%. Finally, after validation, it is concluded that it was possible to increase production efficiency from 44% to 69%.

Full textConsorcio Transporte Arequipa S.A., is a public transport company which participated and won the tender to circulate by routes of supplementary racer N ° 03; “Corredor Azul”. It has a fleet of buses that circulate on a regular basis every day. Due to different functional faults of buses, these are rendered ineffective in the scheduled hours of work and they cause downtimes which decreases company revenues and incurred in repair costs, these stops are caused in 67% of the total by mechanical breakdowns. This improvement project aims to decrease the times of unscheduled stops ocasionaras by mechanical failuresby which applies a methodology of maintenance based on reliability and autonomous maintenance. To achieve these improvements an analysis of the most critical buses, an analysis of the mode and effect of failure (FMEA) was conducted and implemented the 5 "s".

Full textThis thesis project was applied in the company Industrias Corcor S.R.L., dedicated to the exclusive production of metal stairs, which was the object of analysis and diagnosis, and thus make possible the implementation of the improvement proposal in its production processes. In the last year, high costs have been identified due to various problems in the production processes that do not allow reaching the quantities that, as a company, has been projected to cover with the annual demand. The appearance of different types of defects during the stair manufacturing processes generated low efficiency and an economic impact of 15.71% in the annual profit. Therefore, to solve or mitigate this problem, it was decided to design and develop a continuous improvement project for MSEs, which is oriented towards lean manufacturing and the work study. This project begins with the description of the background, theoretical framework and state of the art, where the different tools to be used are indicated, such as the study of work method, autonomous maintenance, among others. Then, an analysis and diagnosis of the initial situation in general of the company will be carried out. Subsequently, the factors causing low efficiency and their impact on the company will be analyzed, so that finally, proposals for improvement can be proposed and thus, applied correctly.

Full textMicro, small and medium-sized companies represent 99.5% of the total number of companies nationwide and are the economic engine, generating 8.4 million jobs. However, they have a low survival rate of 67.5% and only 20% have a business plan before starting their operations. In addition, they face other problems such as the lack of planning and improvement of production processes. Thus, the lack of standardization of work in production processes causes losses for the company due to the generation of waste, unproductive times, and reprocessing. For this reason, a work standardization model was designed applying Lean Manufacturing tools in order to reduce waste and increase productivity. For its elaboration, the models proposed by Cesar J. and Sharma SS were taken as a basis. The validation of the model was carried out in a snack-producing Mype, of which the initial diagnosis identified as main problems the generation of waste and unnecessary displacements due to the variation of the working method used by the operator and an inadequate plant layout. After the application of the model, the losses of the production process were reduced by 59.58%, maintenance downtime was reduced by 50.88% and productivity was increased to 74.4%, concluding that the proposed model reduces waste and increases productivity.

Full textThe high pre-existing competition in the clothing industry increasingly demands greater efforts from the companies in the sector, which, wishing to improve their processes, are neglecting operational aspects, resulting in low production efficiency. For this reason, several authors have shown that Lean Manufacturing tools and other tools, such as work method standardization, are efficient in several industries in this aspect. However, their benefits are not usually maintained. That is why the improvement proposal described in this article is based on the integration of process standardization with Autonomous Maintenance by applying the 5S tool in an integral way, achieving sustainability over time, with the objective of reducing the variability of the process flow and increase production efficiency. The main result expected from the simulation carried out in this sector is that efficiency will increase by 12.5% and machine breakdowns will be reduced by at least 42%. This study concludes that the integration of these three tools not only improves production efficiency in a company in the confection sector, but also improves the work environment and the satisfaction of both employees and customers.

Full textThe propose of this research is to reduce several problems presented by the construction sector, specifically concrete companies, who offers reinforced concrete products to the market. These problems have a direct impact on profitability and competitiveness at the national level. For this reason, it is necessary to apply engineering tools and methodologies; in order to reduce operating costs, penalties for non-fulfillment of orders and increase competitiveness. The problem identified on this project is poor management and control of production, which includes direct consequences regarding quality, operations planning and work method; mainly generating penalties for non-fulfillment of orders, increased operating costs and loss of opportunity cost, which negatively affect the efficiency of the concrete poles and accessories production process. For this, the implementation of an improvement model is applying the Lean Manufacturing philosophy; whose application is focused on improving three main residues in the production system: defects, inventory and waiting time. The study proposals generated a 6.46% reduction in defective products, a 9.50% reduction in the penalty indicator, a 21% increase in OEE and a 35% reduction in cycle time. In addition, there was a 1.81% reduction in operating cost overruns, which affects $ 30,199.
