New modelling of wide-angle reflection-refraction data of the Canadian Lithoprobe East profile 91-1 along the central mobile belt of the Newfoundland Appalachian orogen reveals new features of the upper mantle, and establishes links in the crust and upper mantle between existing land and marine wide-angle data sets by combining onshore-offshore recordings. The revised model provides detailed velocity structure in the 30-34 km thick crust and the top 30 km of upper mantle. The lower crust is characterized by a velocity of 6.6-6.8 km/s onshore, increasing by 0.2 km/s to the northeast offshore be

After the premiere of Don Giovanni in Prague, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lorenzo Da Ponte brought their opera to Vienna on May 7, 1788. One point of interest in the Viennese version of the score is the added duet “Per queste tue manine.” In this duet, the enraged Zerlina overpowers the bewildered servant Leporello with a handkerchief, a razor, and passion. She constrains the floundering fool and punishes him for his misconduct. In most modern performances, companies look no further than the Prague version of the score. AbstractIn order to realize all functions of the sovereignty network while guarantee the security at the same time, what key technologies should be used in the architecture? This chapter will elaborate on the key technologies of the sovereignty network. Firstly, on application layer, we proposed a large-scale multilateral managed consortium blockchain technology named as Proof of Vote to construct the multi-identifier system (MIS) for all nations in the world to jointly and equally co-manage the top-level identifiers, which assures the intercommunication between different nations. Meanwhile, each nation owns autonomy on low-level identifiers of its corresponding top-level identifiers, which reflects independent of cyberspace sovereignty. Then, we proposed some efficient algorithms to support inter-translating and addressing for multi-identifier and huge size of hundred billion identifiers, together with the hyperbolic routing scheme forming the core technologies of network layer in MIN Architecture. Technologies for guaranteeing privacy, security, and transmission control, etc. were also presented.

Abstract:
The story of statins is a success story for science (both basic and applied) and scientists (in both academia and industry). It contains one of the classic scientific and marketing battles in the history of the pharmaceutical industry. More important, it has been a great boon for the millions of patients who have benefited from statins in preventing coronary heart disease. The story of the statins is a triumph of the heart. Statins, a class of cholesterol-lowering drugs, have revolutionized the landscape of coronary heart disease treatment. Since Merck’s marketing of Mevacor in 1987, the world has benefited from statins in numerous ways. As a class of drugs, statins have set standards on numerous fronts in helping manage LDL cholesterol, one of the major risk factors for coronary heart disease. Statins set a high standard in efficacy, a high standard in safety, and a high standard in financial success for the patients, payers, and the pharmaceutical industry. Not only do statins greatly reduce cholesterol and lower mortality in people at risk for heart attacks, but some studies also suggest that they might help prevent or treat a wide range of ailments, including Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, bone fractures, some types of cancer, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. The world has already benefited from the statins in many ways. Low is good, but lower is even better. Fifty years ago, the connection between cholesterol and coronary heart disease was still in question. Twenty years ago, the merit of lowering LDL cholesterol was not even unanimously agreed upon. Cholesterol drugs before the statins, such as resins, niacin, and fibrates, worked to some extent but were also seriously limited by their side effects. Thanks to the emergence of the statins, with Mevacor as the first on the market in 1987, all these questions on the relationship between cholesterol and coronary heart disease are answered beyond any shadow of doubt. Today, the statins have annual sales of more than $20 billion. Hundreds of millions of patients have benefited from statins by delaying and even preventing coronary heart disease.

Abstract:
Business Process Management (BPM) is often perceived as a top priority concern in organisations; both in public and private sectors. This has been clearly noticed in the Australian health care sector, evidenced by the Australian Government’s commitment to pursuing a reform agenda that reflects a new approach to improving health and aged care services. The adoption of a business process management approach can be a key tool to facilitate health reform in the public and private sectors. This approach provides a structured and hence rigorous approach to ensure that health processes are reviewed, improved and implemented consistently throughout the organisation, especially where public health services are provided from multiple service points. Process modeling is an embedded component of most BPM initiatives, yet a resource intensive task. How process models can be derived efficiently (i.e. with less resources and time) and effectively (at a high quality to meet the specific needs) is an integral element of interest to most organisations, however, this area of research is still in its infancy. This paper aims to address this gap by proposing a ‘process-pattern’ based approach to process modeling where models are created and managed within a ‘process architecture’. The process pattern approach is explained with evidence from a large state based health organisation using an integrated risk management process for health care service management as an example. The study employed an action research approach and the chapter unfolds its findings around the main phases of the research method. The contributions from this work are twofold. From the perspective of practice, it offers a validated high level example of a process pattern for an Integrated Risk Management Program for health. From an academic perspective: it presents a validated Risk Management process pattern for delivering health services which can be used as or a benchmark in further research.

It is observed that the global business world has significantly diverted towards new technologies in terms of remote work as a result of digitalization, which forces organizations to adapt new normal during the COVID-19 pandemic. Maritime organizations that keep up with this change can manage to continue their existence; however, those who cannot adapt are eliminated by the system. Developments in the global business world, new ways of working, and their reflections inside and outside the organization force leadership to adapt to changing conditions by also affecting the understanding of “leadership.” This chapter aims to reveal the importance of merging new leadership paradigms and governance, digitalization, sustainable changes in global business, continuity of work, work-life balance, and the concepts of “work,” “workforce,” “workplace,” and “leadership.”

Understanding the emergent behavior is critical to perform an accurate assessment of the designed system. The objective of this paper is to explore the different existing concepts, methods, and approaches used by researchers to understand and m

Abstract:
Anaerobic codigestion of dairy manure and food-based feedstocks reflects a cradle-to-cradle approach to organic waste management. Given both of their abundance throughout New York State, waste-to-energy processes represent promising waste management strategies. The existing waste-to-energy literature has not yet fully realized the environmental impacts associated with displaced grid electricity generation and feedstock-hauling emissions on the net environmental impact of centralized codigestion facilities. The key objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive environmental impact asses

Abstract Cracks in dents or linear anomalies interacting with dents are a major pipeline threat. These combined anomalies represent challenges to the Mechanical Engineers that design ILI tools as they need to keep the sensor in an optimal position towards the inner pipe wall. Ultrasonic Crack (UC) tools consist in a sensor plate with a fixed incidence angle that depends on the coupling medium. This plate is then attached to the skids; these are in constant contact with the internal pipe wall. When the tool interacts with a dent, the incidence angle is not optimal; therefore, detection of any i

Abstract:
UNHCR estimates that the average time spent by a refugee in a camp is 10 years, while the average refugee camp remains for 26 years. WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) is a crucial component of humanitarian response and longer-term recovery. Humanitarian agencies and host governments face many challenges in protracted situations and complex long-term humanitarian crises. One key issue is how water supplies should be managed in the long term. Who is best placed to operate and manage WASH services and which delivery model is the most viable? At the end of 2019, there were 15.7 million refugees

Patient Generated Health Data (PGHD is not new but it has gained more attention these past years due to the advent of smart devices, remote monitoring devices and many applications on various smart devices. PGHD reflects medications and treatment, lifestyle choices, and health history. Unlike traditional medical visits, where clinicians collect and manage data within their offices, PGHD is collected by patients throughout the course of their day and provides an insight of how they are responding to treatments or lifestyle choices. Examples include blood glucose monitoring or blood pressure rea
