Abstract:
An alternative to the transfer of components between machine tools is proposed that makes more effective use of stand-alone CNC machine tools. A design discipline is suggested whose adoption results in components that satisfy the function requirement and which can be machined in a single setup. This results in easier machine-shop scheduling and more straightforward assembly, since the latter is always from a single direction.

In this paper the authors present some theoretical and experimental research carried out during the manufacture of a rotary table for CNC machine-tools AF type. There are shown the calculation methods in static and dynamic conditions for the indexable rotary tables and also for those that operate as numerically controlled “B” axes. The calculation methods were tested by manufacturing several such tables intended for the machines belonging to AF(P)100-180 range.

Abstract:
Improved manufacturing methods have become crucial factors in retaining global competitiveness for a wide range of products. This has led to the development of new automatic supervision techniques for use in smart machine tools. These are necessary because it is not possible to design and manufacture machine tool structures and systems with work zone areas of sufficient accuracy and repeatability to meet the improved performance requirements demanded by many modern manufacturing companies. The principal areas for automatic supervision of the machine tool are the tooling, appropriate machine el

The main shortcomings of modern technological machine-tool complexes are shown. They are: the lack of consideration of individual consumer needs and their insufficient flexibility that do not take into account the trend of rapid changes in the production program. A concept for the development of metal-cutting machine tools based on the principles of the modular technology is proposed. The created machine tool complexes are designed to satisfy the individual needs of consumers, while the flexibility of production equipment should ensure the transition to the manufacture of new parts and the rep

Tool manufacture and use are observed not only in humans but also in other animals such as mammals, birds and insects. Manufactured tools are used for biomechanical functions such as effective control of fluids and small solid objects and extension of reaching. These tools are passive and used with gravity and the animal users' own energy. From the perspective of evolutionary biology, manufactured tools are extended phenotypes of the genes of the animal and exhibit phenotypic plasticity. This incurs energetic cost of manufacture as compared to the case with a fixed tool. This paper studies mec

Machine tools are built based on cast-iron bodies. Cast iron well dumps down vibrations and is dimensionally stable. Therefore, many conventional machine tools are modernized and modified into CNC machine tools based on the seasoned old bodies of those machine tools. Nevertheless, CNC machine tools are also manufactured based on polymer concrete, which vibration damping ability is even better. On the other hand, attempts made in the past by leading machine tool manufacturers to use welded frames in CNC machine tools failed. The revival of interest in welded frames was spurred by economic consi
