Abstract: In this research we describe how the Mapuche people relate to their social philosophy (mapuche rakizuam), how even in a context of profound transformations their own way of thinking continues to make sense and makes their lives more complex. This study is conducted from a particular case of some individuals who moved from one territory (fütal mapu) to another one during the second half of the 1960s. The approach included the treatment of the main categories of Mapuche philosophy both those relating to its basic principles, and those relating to its spatial relations. Thus, it reveals a general scheme for establishing a dialoge with future studies on this topic. Also, in an attempt to make some generalizations, names for Mapuche social philosophy or sociocosmology are proposed which contain a strong religious emphasis, focused on life and its interrelations, where ceremonials constitute the unavoidable link, and where an ethic and moral component is their main consequence. All along thesis, we try to show the persistence of a particular reflection which is permanently fighting to get visible despite the migrations which have drastically affected very the existence of the Mapuche whose survival has been threatened

Abstract:

Abstract:
The Popular Unitary Action Movement, MAPU (1969-1989) split from the DC to join the socialism and after a renewal helped the union of DC with the Socialists in the pragmatic "Concertación". The history of mapucistas is a combination between Cristianism, socialism, power and social movements. This was the third political party of the Chilean left and became an influential elite under Pinochet rule that created several NGOs and cultural networks that created a new political identity: the socialist renovation. The MAPU demonstrates the contribution "transformative / innovative " of enlightened elites, who moves from rupture to play a role in founding of new coalitions. The traditional debate in political science of disruptive or functional elites can be enriched with the concept of transformative elite that shakes and then stabilizes the system. To someone's might express a cynical pattern of accommodation, for others a case of flexibility. This tesis seeks to highlight the innovative role of elites in terms of combination of rupture and stabilization as important process in the political system.

The research was aimed to design and develop a Bilingual Teaching Atlas for teaching Territory Mapuce Bafkehce Lake Budi. The importance of this work lies in the experience of cooperation and assistance to communities in the initial phase of design and development of an emerging own curriculum. The essential components of the worldview temporary space contributed to the systematization, in terms of educational content that emerge from the knowledge and identities of Mapuce communities. The atlas was developed through a critical communicative research. It is based on the historical, social and cultural re-construction through analysis of oral memory and spatial representations of the inhabitants of the territory of Budi Bafkehce, mainly through the Basic School Kom Pu Lof Ñi Kimeltuwe. It is supported by a work of geographical, historical and social gathering on the territorial units comprising the socio-territorial organization Mapuce worldview (Lof, Rewe, Aija Rewe, Bafkeh Mapu). Relevance is defined to identify and map the main spatial representations of the communities of Lake Budi Mapuce Bafkehce. Which it is important because in the discipline geographic there are few studies that systematize spatial worldview of a native people. With regard to the teaching is an important contribution to the teaching and learning of territoriality and Mapuce school geography, as there are no up to date teaching materials that allow bilingual knowledge of the territory by the students themselves Mapuce.

Choropleth maps are a popular way of depicting spatial data. The map communication model, which theorizes that geographic information is transmitted from the cartographer to the map user via a map, suggests that cartographers are responsible for clearly conveying spatial data in a way all map users can understand. Map users, however, come from different places and may harbor certain regional biases. This thesis investigates whether map users tend to focus on data patterns within their home regions during the visual-search and decision-making processes when reading classed choropleth maps, thereby exhibiting an egocentric map behavior. Seventy-one subjects took a computer-based test asking them to identify various phenomena on a series of choropleth maps of the lower 48 states. The results show a weak positive effect of egocentric map behavior; subjects who lived in a particular state longer were slightly more likely to choose states nearby their home region.

Abstract:
The first half of this thesis is devoted to the study of finite polynomial maps en --4 en and the use of Grobner bases to determine if a given map is finite. We begin by examining those maps which have quasihomogeneous components, and give a simple condition for such maps to be finite. This condition is extended to those maps which are quasihomogeneous as above, but with extra lower order terms. Next, we give a general criterion for testing the finiteness of a given polynomial map and an implementation in the Maple computer algebra system. Our next step is to generalize our results to regular maps between affine varieties. Again, a finiteness criterion is given, plus its implementation in Maple. Lastly in this half, we consider the trace bilinear form associated with a finite map and show how it may be used to find real roots of a polynomial system. The second half of the thesis is concerned with the study of G-variant map germs, which commute with the action of a finite group G on the source and target spaces. We give a relation between the G-variant degree associated with a map germ, bilinear forms on the local algebra and preimages of zero under a perturbation of the original map. We look at both the complex and real affine space situation. We then give the equivalent results when we do not have a 'good' deformation of the map, when we have two groups acting and when we use modular representations. Next, we give an invariant of G-variant maps which is stronger than G-degree, based upon a lattice of vector subspaces. Finally, we examine the structure of the class of G-variant maps and consider criteria for maps to have 'good' deformations and to be finite. We then give ways of determining generators for the class of maps by generalizing theorems of Noether and Molien.

The genetic mapping facilitates the breeding work once one or more marks of the genotype can be associated to controlling genes of qualitative and quantitative characteristics (QTL). Genetic maps for several species have been built by different groups of researchers with different molecular markers and populations. A way to generate maps more saturated for those species would be the integration of the existent maps. The key to integrate different maps is the presence of common marks among them. Only when there are a minimum number of common marks among the different maps, these can be integrated. This way, the objective of this work was to develop a process of integration of genetic maps and to test the efficiency of this process. Data from the simulation of genome and populations were generated and analyzed. A important factor to obtain solid data in a mapping work is the sample or population size. Based in these simulated data it was evaluated the optimum population size to study the integration of genetic maps. To obtain and study the consensus maps, parental genomes and samples of co- dominant F2, dominant F2 and backcrosses populations were simulated. The generated samples had 100, 200, 400 individuals with 3 linkage groups each and 11 dominant and co-dominant molecular marks spaced by 5, 10 and 15 centiMorgans. 10 repetitions were accomplished by sample, five used to construct the consensus maps with analysis multilocus and other five without analysis multilocus. It was concluded that the obtention of the consensus maps becomes more efficient with the increase of the population size. A population size of 200 individuals would be enough to rescue the original information. To study the obtention of the effective integrated map samples of co-dominant F2 and backcrosses populations were simulated. The generated samples had 100, 200 and 400 individuals, 21 marks for linkage group and markers equidistant by 5 cM, in a total of four simulations for co-dominant F2 and four for backcrosses. Each simulated genome was fragmented in four new maps which three maps had eight markers and one had nine markers, each one of these maps containing four markers that are anchors among the four maps. These new maps were aligned, orderly and integrated and then compared with the original map. It was concluded that the process of ordainment and integration are efficient to obtain the integrated map. The population size exercises influence on the map and the distances measures among the marks.

Abstract:
This thesis presents a modular strategy towards the implementation and application of an artificial neural network (ANN) paradigm called the Self-Organising Map (SOM). This modular strategy was derived as an approach towards developing an implementable and scaleable ANN system. The design of these modules, called Modular Maps, is presented along with details of suitable implementation technologies. Different connection schemes for combining modules are investigated and their effects discussed. Comparisons of the Modular Map and a unitary SOM system are made. These comparisons include consideration of implementation, training times and performance. The differences between the two systems are then further explored with the aid of two application domains, human face recognition and ground anchorage integrity testing.

Abstract:
Imagine the following scenario: you’re at an unfamiliar location and you need to catch the bus to get home, however, you don’t know where the bus stop is. What do you do? In the modern world, the typical solution would be to open a map application on your smartphone and use it to determine the best route to your destination. Software developers are constantly improving mapping software with new features and design overhauls, but it is important to take a step back and ask how these factors might affect our ability to learn the information being presented. Are there cognitive factors that may help, or hinder, our ability to learn digital maps? A map reading experiment was devised to test the effect of cognitive load on map learning (Experiment 1). Participants learnt routes and landmarks under both low and high cognitive load. Our results show that high cognitive load hinders males’ ability to learn landmarks, while it hinders females’ ability to learn routes. A second experiment was conducted to determine the robustness of this effect. Map task difficulty was increased and our results show that the original 3-way interaction disappears when the demand on working memory becomes too high. Overall, our findings are in line with the existing literature on sex differences in map reading, and also indicates that 1) cognitive load plays a role in that relationship, and 2) a threshold exists for the effect once task difficulty is increased.

Teaching chemistry in most high schools traditionally emphasizes memorization and transmission of fragmented and isolated contents. In technical education, however, that is less functional, because a connection between the National Base contents with more practical technical themes is necessary. In the absence of such connections, future technicians remain unprepared to make links and not able to apply his full skills. The scope of this research is to develop an innovative teaching model that enhances chemistry learning along with development of other technical and significant skills and competencies. Hence, ?Guaran?? was chosen, because it is a product symbol of Mau?s city, to become an integrating element: it would bring practical significance to chemistry classes for first year technical students. The specific objectives were: to verify whether the theme ?fertilizers for guaran? production? enhances significant chemical learning through lectures and projects development; and to verify whether this approach influences student?s approvals in chemistry courses. This research was conducted at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas - IFAM, campus Mau?s in 2015, with thirty-three students of first year in Agricultural Technical Course. A new chenistry course description having ?guaran? produciton? as integrating element was designed. Topics such as: factors affecting the growth of guaran? plants, types of fertilizers used for this crop based on the essential macro and micronutrient demands. An initial survey followed by a second one afer claases were performed, at the end of the term, were applied to verify whether the main chemistry concepts were incorporated into the practical technical ones. Also the academic performance was looked into. The performance of the experimental group was compared to previous years?classes. The outcome of the two questionnaires revealed growth of 300 % in correct or expected answers; with respect to the final approval in Chemistry, experimental group increased by 84.85 %, surpassing all others from previous years. It is therefore concluded that the teaching method proposed, that is, connected to an integrating figure of tangible significance for the students, in this case the ' Guarana of Mau?s ' can contribute to better articulation of chemistry teaching/learning, with the development of skills and competences within a real context.

Abstract:
The current thesis has been developed with teachers from Elementary School, 1stcycle of Elementary School, 5º year in public schools of the city of Francisco Beltrao (PR). Trying to contribute with the Geography teaching of Elementary students, it has been developed a survey among the teachers about their teaching methodology toward the students. The main objective has been to observe how they worked when teaching about maps. With this aim, it has been worked on the Simiellisproposal(1994), which is about cartographic literacy. According to her, for a child to demystify the draw, it is necessary to develop some concepts, such as an skewed view, vertical view, three-dimensional and bi-dimensional image, besides to understand the cartographic alphabet (dot, line and area). From this point, the child develops the notion of subtitles, proportion, laterality, reference and orientation, conceiving the maps as a means of communication. To teach all this process, it has been used teaching situation theory suggested by Brousseau(2008), which consists in a model that describes the teacher and student activities from a situation to be solved. It is about a communication instrument between the teacher, environment and student, seeking answers from challenges that lead to the 11 construction of knowledge. In our case, geographical knowledge, because this survey is about learning maps and learning Geography through maps.

Abstract:
It is generally assumed that increased map precision (ie map unit homogeneity) and map purity (map unit accuracy) should result from increasing the scale of mapping of the soil resource, since it should enable a more intricate breakdown of the landscape into landform facet based units. This study compared the predictive success of a 1:1 OK scale soil association map with the 1:25K and 1:1OOK scale soil landscape maps within the Birrigai area of the Paddy's river catchment, south west of Canberra, A.C.T. The 1:25K and the 1:100K scale soil landscape maps were also evaluated in a second larger evaluation area in the Paddy's river catchment which allowed more of the larger soil landscape map units to be evaluated. The 1:25K scale soil map was produced by another author for the A.C.T Government, and was surveyed at a substantially lower survey intensity than that for the 1:100K and 1:10K scale soil maps (ie only 0.05 observation sites / cm2 of published map). These maps were evaluated using a set of randomly located independent evaluation sites in each evaluation area, and from these calculating and comparing standard Marsman & de Gruijter(1986) measures of Map Purity. The strength of soil-landscape relationships within this catchment were determined from a Fixed One Way Analysis of Variance, and from more simplistic graphical comparisons of the means and standard deviations of the discrete soil data within these landform based map units. Soil-landscape relationships for the Nominal scale soil data (ie class type data) were evaluated by comparing the Marsman & de Gruijter(1986) Homogeneity index ratings among the soil map units. Intensive survey traverses were also carried out in selected soil landscapes to further evaluate the strength of soil landscapes present. The results revealed obvious improvements in map quality associated with increasing map scale from 1:100,000 to 1:10,000, and these included increases in the predictive success (Map Purity), reductions in the extent of map unit impurities, and planning advantages associated with having individual land facets delineated on the 1:10,000 scale map. The respectable purity ratings achieved by the 1:100,000 scale soil landscape map (ie average purity rating of 63%) was largely attributed to the flexibility of the "soil material" approach to soil landscape mapping. The relatively poor performance of the 1:25K consultancy soil landscape map demonstrated the fact that; any benefit gained from the improved intricacy in the representation of map unit delineation's with increased mapping scale, will be drastically reduced if it is not matched by an associated increase in the intensity of field investigations. Evaluations of the soil-landscape relationships found that the land facets of the Paddy's river catchment generally failed to delineate areas that were both uniform and unique in respect of their soil properties. Soil-landscape relationships were instead found to be quite complex, applying to only certain land facets, and in regards to only certain soil properties. Soil maps with units based on landsurface features were recommended on the basis of the importance of other landscape factors other than soils to land capability ratings, as well as on the useability of such maps. This study recommended the adoption of a " >2 detailed soil profile observations / land facet in each map unit " mapping standard to ensure a reasonable estimate of the variability and modal soil conditions present, as well as a reliable confirmation of the perceived soil-landscape relationships. The error usually associated with small scale mapping was effectively reduced by rapid ground truthing, involving driving along the major roads dissecting the map area and making brief observations of soil exposures on road batters, despite the bias of the road network making such mapping improvements uneven across the map. The major point to come from this study was the re-emphasising of the point that soil spatial variability has to be accepted as a "real landscape attribute" which needs to be accurately described and communicated to land users, and must not be considered as some sort of soil mapping failure. The fact that individual facets of the landscape rarely coincide with unique pockets of uniform and unique soils and soil properties must be considered simply an on the ground reality of nature, and not some mapping failure. It was thought that since other landscape factors (eg hillslope gradient) most often dominate the determination of land use suitability and capability, it is better to effectively describe the range and modal state of the soil conditions within such facets, then to attempt to extrapolate possible soil boundaries using geostatistical techniques which cut across such land facets, and may or may not correlate with real groupings of soil properties, depending on the spatial resolution of the soil variability distribution in the landscape. Even so the results of this investigation do put the validity of the physiographic terrain class mapping model as a predictor of soil traits under question, at least for the more complex landscape settings.

Passiflora is the largest genus of the Passifloraceae family, and includes about 500 species. It originates in tropical America and more than 135 species are native to Brazil. Among the main species of the genus, the sour passion-fruit Passiflora edulis Simsis of great importance because of their commercial interest, primarily as fruitful plant. Despite the advances in genetic and genomicknowledge, it has not been possible to distinguish eachone of his nine chromosome pairs. One strategy that helps karyotype definition is the development of markers specific for each chromosome pair, which can be obtained from fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) of cloned genomic sequences in bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs). In this study, 27 BACs containing genes or gene regions of Passiflora were used as probes to construct a physical map of the sour passion-fruit using BAC-FISH. Subsequently, 12 clones have been mapped allowing the identification of eight chromosome pairs with unique signal, the fifthpair being identified by the 5S rDNA. Furthermore, a dispersed distribution of retrotransposons Ty1-copia, Ty3-gypsy and LINE was demonstrated. The results of this study confirm the importance of FISH in chromosome characterization and identification, using both repetitive sequences and clones with large inserts as probe (BACFISH), promoting the development of chromosome-specific markers and a cytogenetic map for the sour passion-fruit.

Abstract:
Previous route description experiments conducted by psychologists show there are differences between males and females in the use of landmarks when describing routes. Previous research has shown that females used landmarks and egocentric forms of turn descriptors more often than males for route descriptions. This method is known as route knowledge in the spatial knowledge literature. Males, conversely, were seen to use fewer landmarks and more cardinal direction descriptions and standard distances when describing routes. Spatial knowledge literature terms this method survey knowledge. The current experiment tested the hypothesis that sex is not the determinant of landmark usage for route descriptions but different cartographic methods depicting the same locale determine whether landmarks are described. Two quasi-experiments were conducted using different map types. Results of the experiments show that map type, not sex, influences landmark usage for route descriptions.

This study was conducted among three coastal communities: Aritingui, Taberaba and Tavares, located on the right of the estuary of Mamanguape River (EMR) in Paraíba, and incorporated in the Environmental Protection Area of the namesake river. Its main objective is to study the local ecological knowledge and use of wildlife resources by fishermen and collectors of these communities. This work had its theoretical and methodological focus in Ethnoecology. The sampling was intentionally non-random, where the respondents were previously defined according to the dedication and frequency in fishing activities. The fieldwork took place between the months of October 2008 and November 2009. Free unstructured interviews and direct observations were conducted with the purpose of studying aspects of the interaction between the target communities and the mangrove-estuary complex. From the free unstructured interviews, structured interviews were conducted to collect data on the exploration, utilization and conservation of resources from the mangrove-estuary of Mamanguape River. The data were analyzed using the model of unity of the various individual skills seeking to juxtapose ethnoecological to scientific knowledge. In developing the mental maps, one key informant was chosen in each community and each was asked to design, with reference to their community, the estuary with the main collection of fishery resources. The oral map was obtained from tours guided by key informants along the EMR and was to appoint the main sampling sites. Fishermen cited 13 folk generic species: 6 species of fish, 5 crustacean species and 2 species of mollusks. The species of fish most often cited was Bathygobius soporator, of crustacean was Cardisoma guanhumi and of mollusk was Crassostrea sp., which are used for consumption, with marketing only of the surplus. Fishermen perceive the spatial distribution of wildlife resources and categorize them in etnohabitats ( mangrove fish , Camboa fish ), microhabitats ( fish of strain , fish of hole and fish of lodge ) and vertical distribution ( ground fish and water flower fish ). They also showed a wide knowledge of the trophic and reproductive behavior of the most explored species. From the mental and oral maps, accurate spatial perception related to fishing sites and grooming was registered. The fishermen in the Aritingui, Taberaba and Tavares communities show detailed ethnobiological knowledge, consistent with Western science. The knowledge that these fishermen hold on the distribution of resources and its ecology, and environmental perception, is a tool valuable enough to be embedded in socio-economic plans as well as in management, conservation and sustainable use of wildlife studies.

This work is a computational mapping of the phase space of iterated maps. Initially, a review of the real Hénon map is presented, aiming at the identification of patterns in the stability regions of the parameter space. Then, the algorithm developed is extended to allow complex variables, while still requiring parameters to be real. This procedure permits the observation of different stable loci in phase space. Finally, developed tools and observations are applied in a comparative study of the generalized cubic Hénon map.

Abstract:
MAPK network consists of tightly interconnected signalling pathways. Although several studies established the involvement of this network in cancer deregulations, the precise mechanisms underlying its influence on the balance between cell proliferation and death remain elusive.Public data were integrated into a detailed reaction map, accounting for the influence of MAPK network on cell fate decision. This map was then used for computational analyses addressing specific cancer-related questions.First, the dynamics of MAPK network in bladder cancers were analysed. A Boolean model was built, accounting for the response of the network to selected inputs. The results of systematic simulations were found globally coherent with published data. Based on in silico experiments, the main events underlying different observed cancer cell behaviours were then deciphered.Next, the MAPK reaction map was exploited to reanalyse public high-throughput gene expression data. The goal was to identify key actors for the transduction of proliferative signals, in specific cell types. Network analyses and statistical computations led to the identification of deregulated MAPK network regions, and to the delineation of optimal intervention points aimed at blocking the proliferative signals transduced from such regions. This approach was used to study five different tumour stages and four different subtypes of T-cell lymphoma.Altogether, these results led to the formulation of novel hypotheses concerning the functioning of MAPK network in different pathological conditions, and to the selection of target components that might be considered for the development of novel treatments

Abstract:
In the diploma thesis Strategy map of a catering company the strategic map of a model catering company operating on Czech market has been constructed. Strategy map was chosen as a transparent and effective measure concerning the important parts of the strategy of the concrete company in a way of visual shortcut in line with the well-known methodology: KAPLAN, Robert S., NORTON, David P.: Strategy Maps, Harvard Business School Publishing Corporation, Boston 2004. ISBN 1-59139-134-2. In the theoretical part of this diploma thesis the basic elements important for the construction of the strategy map were described and also the professional services of the catering company were presented. In the practical part the catering market of Czech Republic is analysed and then, on the basis of determined opportunities, the newly founded company VIP Catering is being modelled. This company addresses VIP clients with the offer of first class quality VIP services. Subsequently its mission, vision, SWOT analysis were determined, strategic goals were analysed and divided into four basic perspectives and reliable key performance indicators were suggested. Consequently strategic iniciatives and appropriate organization structure were developped. At the end of the practical part the strategy map for the VIP catering company was designed and the causal relationships among the strategy elements were outlined. The main result of the diploma thesis lies in the originally constructed strategy map on of a newly established catering company operating on Czech market.
