Abstract:
This contribution raises the issue whether the battle of Marignano should be part of (Swiss) history textbooks and therefore of history teaching. In the background of the political debate about the significance and the role of the battle, which took place 500 years ago, this is a sensitive issue. Thus, Marignano constitutes the starting point of a special Swiss path with positive connotations for some people, whereas for others this view leads down the wrong track. In consequence, history teaching in schools is in danger of getting caught in a dilemma between these polarizations.

Abstract:

Abstract:
We present the first records of the butterfly theridiid Episinus marignaci (Lessert, 1933) beyond its type locality, resulting in an extension of its geographic range from Angola to South Africa. Images of live specimens and a dis-tribution map are provided. Episinus marignaci is rare locally but has a relatively large geographical distribution in South Africa.

Abstract:
Abstract AT the end of 1514 English foreign policy enjoyed a triumph when a treaty with Louis XII-arranging a formal peace and marriage alliance-nullified the wiles of Ferdinand and Maximilian, who had themselves been negotiating with France. But, ere long, the deaths of Louis and Ferdinand brought about the accession of the bellicose Francis I in France, and Charles of Burgundy to the Spanish inheritance. Francis quickly came to terms with his rivals, and proceeded to dazzle Europe with his victory at Marignano; while Charles, wishing to secure his own territorial claims, had to renew peace with Francis at Noyon in August 1516. Maximilian adhered to this treaty at Brussels in January 1517, and two months later Francis, Charles, and Maximilian made a fresh league for the partition of Italy-an arrangement from which England was carefully excluded.
