Abstract:
Rotor stability is essential to the life span of any piece of rotating machinery; it becomes increasingly critical in high-speed machinery such as turbochargers. Large turbochargers, such as those found in marine diesel propulsion engines where the rotor alone often exceeds forty pounds, require careful consideration regarding stability as well as load support during the bearing selection process. Logarithmic Decrement is the primary consideration for rotor stability. Commercial software is used to model and analyze a proven unstable turbocharger rotor. After confirming that the model exhib

While these technologies can improve performance, the design of a propulsion system becomes challenging, given that no single technology is superior across all vessel types. Furthermore, even identical ships with different operating patterns may be better suited to different propulsion technologies. Addressing this problem, previous research has shown that if key elements of a vessel's operational pro file are known,

The marine diesel engine’s revolutionary functional changes e.g., constant pressure turbocharging, uniflow scavenging, variable injection timing device, etc., as well as the functional parameters of the engines, e.g., stroke-to-bore ration, eng

The products designed by combining computer control with monitoring systems are user friendly and very modern. This electronically-controlled fuel injection main engine has the best performance for energy savings, low-speed stability, and running in low NOx mode. Because the environmental protection becomes important and extends widely, wet scrubber that canceling various exhaust pollution is taken serious and necessary. And this method is not used in diesel engine emissions reducing very often. For this reason, we will investigate how wet scrubber to improve in marine diesel engine emissions reducing in the dissertation. According to the new Annex VI, all marine engine’s emission units are replaced by g/kw.h, and there are exacted limiting of the emission to each engine (by rpm). However, the discrepancies are found between the limiting value of emission (Annex VI) and reality circumstance, which caused by the condition of engine room. So make the regulation (Annex VI) be more complete and simplified the procedures of the exhau

To reveal the basic influence of H2SO4 on the lubricant film, the saturated hydrocarbon Squalane (C30H62) was chosen as a simple model oil. The interfacial tension between aqueous H2SO4 (0-98% w/w) and C30H62 was measured between -3 and 165 degrees C to understand droplet formation in the lubricant. Interfacial tension decreases with increasing acid concentration and is temperature dependent.<br>The wettability of engine parts with corros
