Full textThis research has a dyadic approach involving both patients with cardiovascular disease and their partner during the hospitalization. The first study investigates the effect of dyadic coping (DC) on partners’ marital satisfaction considering the moderating effect of the partners’ psychological distress. The results show that the beneficial effect of positive and common DC on marital satisfaction occurs when the partners’ psychological distress is low, on the contrary negative DC decreases marital satisfaction among those who have high levels of psychological distress. The second study aims to investigate the relationship between DC, adherence to medications and patient activation. The relationship is mediated by the patient health self-efficacy: positive and common DC increase patient health self-efficacy which in turn increases adherence to medication and patient activation; on the contrary, the negative DC is detrimental during hospitalization and also over time after discharge. The third study investigates the relationship between psychological distress and the quality of partner support (overprotection, hostility and support for patient engagement) through the moderating role of DC. The results show that high psychological distress increases worse partner support among those with low levels of positive DC and high negative DC.

The development of satisfactory interpersonal relationships has contributed decisively to a quality of life and psychological health of the people. On the other hand, a difficulty in maintaining relationships in a healthy way and using conflict resolution strategies can lead to losses in the affective relationships between family members, spouses and partners and / or boyfriends contributing to violence against women by an intimate partner. It is understood that a satisfying conjugal relationship demands social skills like exchange of affection, search for approximation, problem solving, and others. These aspects highlight the relevance of investigations regardin the characterization of repertoire of social skills, marital satisfaction and the relationship between these variables in women in situation of intimate partner violence.. This study aims to analyze a relationship between social skills and marital satisfaction of women in situations of intimate partner violence. This study aims to analyse the relationship between social skills and marital satisfaction of women in situations of intimate partner violence. To achieve this goal, 23 women, from na institution specializing in the care of women in situation of violence, responded to three instruments: Questionnaire on Degree and Form of Violence by a woman practiced by intimate partner, Marital Satisfaction Scale, and Inventory of Marital Social Skills. The results showed that the highest levels of violence reported by the women interviewed were of a psychological nature and the level of marital satisfaction is inversely proportional to the situations of intimate partner violence. In addition, women in situations of intimate partner violence self-rated with a total deficit of marital social skills, especially in "expressiveness/empathy", "self-assertiveness " and "proactive self-control" classes, showing difficulties in expressing feelings and thoughts in the marital relationship, guaranteeing their rights to individuality in the relationship, demonstrate empathic understanding, recognize the signs of physiological change in oneself and in the other. The data obtained through correlation pointed out that as general marital social skills and the proactive self-control class was negatively related to the increase in marital dissatisfaction. It was also observed that the more assertive conversational skills the greater the marital dissatisfaction (and with the aspects of the conjugal interaction). It's shown that assertive self-assertion and proactive self-control are also negatively related to an occurrence of violence (general and sexual). Thus, the importance of social skills training for this population and the understanding of the nature of assertive responses in the sociocultural context is noted. The use of social skills contrasts with violent relationships. In this sense, this study contributes to the understanding of the classes of marital social skills that can be targeted for intervention among the population of women in situations of intimate partner violence. The training of these skills, not only for a woman, but for the couple, can be an essential tool for the development of socially competent relationships, based on respect for each other and expansion of marital satisfaction.

Violence against women is considered a public health problem due to serious physical and mental consequences it produces, such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Objectives: To investigate the relationship between PTSD and violence against women by intimate partners, with emphasis on victims served by psychology sector in Juiz de Fora DPOF (Precinct Guidance and Family Protection). The specific objectives are: to find out the prevalence of PTSD in IPV cases cited above, to describe the frequency of factors such as: history of violence in the primitive family, previous victimization, type of violence, use of alcohol and drugs by the partner, as well as the time of exposure to the traumatic event in the studied group; to verify the association between perceived social support, depression and PTSD. Methods: The study is cross-sectional, quantitative, descriptive and associative. The sample consists of 41 female victims of intimate partner violence, who resorted to DPOF the first half of 2013. The following instruments applied were: Structured interview, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist- Civilian Version (PCL-C), Perceived Social Support Scale (EPSS) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-I). Results: From the trace of the symptoms of PTSD, we obtained the prevalence of disorder possible cases in 82,9% of the women interviewed. There was a positive association between depression and PTSD, and negative association between PTSD and perceived social support. Conclusions: The study points to the need to create specific intervention strategies for women victims of IPV, given the high prevalence of this disorder. We must especially perform projects in the legal bodies to protect women in order to strengthen their social support to face adverse situations related to the aggression.
