This qualitative descriptive study described how seven older homeless women with depression characterized their homelessness, depression, and aging. The women, with a mean age of 54 years, were concerned with day-to-day survival, and contemplating aging while remaining homeless was frightening. This thesis investigated the relationship between socioeconomic status (by occupation) and self-reported depression among women in Stockholm County. A quantitative study was conducted based on secondary data from the 2006 Stockholm County Public Health Survey. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis through SPSS statistical package. The relationship between maturation rate, body image, depression and eating disorder tendencies was explored in a group of 251 college-age females in order to better understand the developmental progression of body image and related variables. Two aspects of body image were measured, namely, level of body satisfaction and amount of body distortion. Background Major Depressive Disorder is a leading cause of disease burden for women of childbearing age. The prevalence of perinatal depression is significantly higher in women from low and middle income countries than from high income countries. Antenatal depression is associated with low birth weight and preterm delivery.
