This thesis examines the Lebanese-Syrian Orthodox community of Montreal between 1905-1950 primarily through information found in the marriage registers of the two Orthodox churches. The first purpose of this study is to evaluate the importance of the three pillars of this ethno-religious group's culture--religion, family and hometown. 本文旨在通过对形式婚姻个案的分析，来探讨中国社会里的家庭与性的关系。形式婚姻是一种正在被中国同性恋者实践的互助合作型婚姻。具体而言，本文将主要关注两个问题：第一，家庭如何影响了其成年子女的性表达和性实践；第二，成年子女如何在家庭的影响下进行性表达和性实践。本文的分析材料主要包括 22份在中国某北方城市所作的深度访谈的录音整理、同性恋活动的田野笔记和形式婚姻网络聊天小组的聊天记录。本文发现，中国家庭可以通过四种机制对其成年子女的性产生重要影响，包括共同体维系、资源分配、福利供给和血缘延续。同时，成年子女在与这种四种机制所传递的压力进行策略性互动的情况下表达和实践他（她）们的性。另外，本文发现，同性恋者常常为了家庭的期望、舆论和和睦做出妥协与让步。因此，在有关中国家庭的研究中，个人主义的兴起不应被过分夸大。尽管形式婚姻是一个发生在中国社会中的个案，但是本文的发现亦有可能对有关非西方社会的家庭研究有所贡献。<br>This paper tries to explore the relationship between family and sexuality in Mainland China through discussing the case of functional marriage, a reciprocal marriage conducted by the Chinese

迎親燈籠、裝點精緻的花轎、幾十人的迎親隊伍和傳統的吹打樂隊，勾勒出一幅上世紀初紹興傳統的婚禮畫面。無論排場大小，吹打樂在當時紹興婚慶中一直是不可缺少的。直到20世紀20年代，一支名為「新聲」的銅管樂隊為紹興帶來了不同以往的音響和表演形式，並很快開始在當地上層階級的婚禮中流行。從第一支樂隊創立至今，紹興已有多達百余支銅管樂隊，兩千多名樂手。但我在一年多的田野調查中卻發現一直被冠以「洋氣」、「時髦」的銅管樂隊仍延續著很強的紹興當地的傳統文化特徵。<br>這其中有很多有趣且值得思考的問題：現用的銅管樂緣何被帶入紹興並成為婚慶音樂？在演奏和傳承過程中，它是如何適應當地的禮俗以及當地人的觀念？西方樂器與紹興當地文化之間的結合又揭示了什麼？帶著這些問題，本文的論述內容主要分為三個部分：1、追溯銅管樂隊在紹興產生和發展的歷史，瞭解不同時代背景下，銅管樂隊如何適應傳統婚慶儀式；2、通過記述近期紹興婚禮儀式的描述及口述歷史中的紹興婚慶習俗，探究它們之間的關係，以及樂隊和音樂在當地婚禮中的角色；3、探討文化、社會環境和政治因素對婚禮音樂的影響，以及紹興婚禮「傳統」在不斷延續和變化中，當地人對銅管樂隊、樂手和音樂的理解和看法。<br>本文認為儘管紹興婚慶的儀式、樂手、樂器、音樂都在改變，傳統文化的影響和人們的音樂觀念仍然在看似「洋化」了的銅管樂中延續，而被改變了的銅管樂也正締造著新的傳統。<br>Red

本研究旨在探索香港夫婦根據他們的社會文化背景對自己在婚姻中所遇到性功能障礙的經驗詮釋和主觀視角。當生理性觀點支配我們理解整全的性行為或性經驗時，這種看法甚至於遮蔽我們在個人、關係和社會心理的向度上所表達與「性」方面有關的活動，亦逐漸令性治療的專業範疇顯得不能完善地對應需要而失效，或許更相信有效的治療方法在於去除生理醫學上的病徵，回復正常的性功能；但是，這樣未必有助於改善性生活的質素和箇中關係。因此，本研究嘗試透過被評估有性功能障礙的夫婦，去檢視他們對有關婚姻經驗的詮釋，就此探討性功能障礙在婚姻境況中的意義和重要性。本專題論文會特別考究臨床社會工作在更闊的社會文化脈絡中，要怎樣理解配偶在婚姻經驗中的詮釋，藉以拓展擴大我們對性功能障礙的現象及其呈現的選擇和可能性的理解與考察，從中由病原學的探究轉向去理解性功能障礙在具體境域中所呈現的意義和重要性。<br>本研究採用了解釋主義研究範式的取向，並著重描述性現象學和哲學詮釋學的原則，致力於人與人關係方面的知識和解構配偶在社會文化中所生成的文本。解釋主義者相信人類行為的多樣性、差異性和複雜性；而描述性現象學和哲學詮釋學的原則便提供了知識建構上的策略和理解經驗意義的四個探索向度：理解的脈絡、時間性、自我或身體的理解及與他人的關係。這亦引申到是次質性研究所涉及的概念框架預設。在研究的設計中，應用了深入面談的方式進行：八位被評估有性功能障礙的配偶及他

近年來國際文獻日益意識到移民與虐妻之間的關係。有鑑於此，本文嘗試以十一位中港跨境婚姻中受虐移民婦女的個案，透過分析其深入訪談資料，以交織性探索的理論框架探討發生於這種婚姻關係中對移民婦女的親密伴侶暴力行為。研究結果顯示這類暴力行為由遷移、性別、階級及文化等社會體系互相交織而造成，致使受虐移民婦女於法律、經濟、社交及文化等各個層面受到多重制肘，令她們不得不固守於暴力關係之中。此外，本研究展示了遷移如何與移民婦女的階級不利位置、婚姻中的性別不平等及傳統中國文化對於婚姻與家庭的規範互相影響，從而增加她們受虐的風險和削弱其處理暴力的能力。由於虐妻對不同社會背景的女性所帶來的影響不盡相同，社會工作者、政策制定者以及研究人員必須理解各個社會體系如何互為交織並引致暴力行為，以有效照顧及協助移民婦女的需要。最後，本論文對現有相關政策作出建議，以期為移民婦女提供適切有效的預防及介入，從而減低她們受虐的風險。<br>With the increasing recognition of the linkage between wife abuse and migration in the literature, this study examines violence against female marriage migrants in the context of Mainland-Hong Kon

本研究旨在探討準新人通過婚禮消費來實踐家庭和婚姻關係。通過研究準新人如何商議和安排婚禮樣式、相關的消費項目和財務安排，從而剖析新婚夫婦在婚禮籌備期間如何維持父母與子女的關係和建構未來的姻親和婚姻關係。本研究研究方法是民族誌，資料是從與三十三位新娘和二十一位新郎進行深入訪談並參與了他們的婚禮所獲得。<br>選購浪漫的、具風格的和舖張的婚禮的讓準新人展示品位，也表示準新人的結合是以自由戀愛為基礎的；但同時，婚禮也是結二姓之好的儀式，在中國傳統上公告新娘納入新郎的家族，這賦予準新人的父母參與婚禮形式和相關消費決策的過程。在此情況下，現代婚姻追求高獨立性與父母的期望為兩代關係帶來緊張和矛盾。另一方面，現代親子關係強調和諧融洽，對兩代透過商議婚禮消費來實踐帶來另一種挑戰，這些包括了兩層面：(1)親子和姻親關係；(2)維持婚姻的獨立性。<br>從探討準新人和其父母商議婚禮消費、財務安排和有關的分工，本研究得出以下發現：從家庭層面，基於道德倫理責任，準新人購買舖張婚宴以維持和建構兩代關係。同時，為突顯新婚夫婦的自主性，他們購買了不同的新興婚禮服務。而且，這些家庭關係和社會角色的定位也反映在兩代商討聛禮和嫁妝之上。<br>另外，從夫婦層面上，準新人透過選購具風格的婚禮物品和服務來體現二人結合為一個共同決策的消費單位，這個決策過程受雙方的性別態度和角色所影響；這些影響也反映夫婦的財務負擔和婚禮分工上

Essay 2 uses Chinese adult twin data to investigate birth weight effect, the outcomes of which have been changed to long-term achievements. The OLS results suggest that birth weight has significant positive relationship with earnings, adult height, and health conditions.
