Abstract:
This chapter shows that coastal wetland projects are underperforming because of confirmation bias. Despite two decades of work showing that top-down control can be essential to marsh restoration, the potential role of top predators is typically ignored by those responsible for restoring or maintaining marshes. Similarly ignored are experiments that indicate positive interaction between marsh plants and can enhance the pace and success of restoration. By planting marsh plants at higher densities, marsh restoration success can double, and seagrass restoration can succeed in the face of increasin

Abstract:
With a case study of the Slovak punk band Hudba z Marsu, Chapter 6 illustrates discrepancies that became sources of creative energy in the 1990s and 2000s. It details how Hudba z Marsu incorporated popular motifs from the mid-twentieth-century space race, old Slovak folk recordings, and live folkloric singing. The chapter describes how Hudba z Marsu established connections with local Romani (Gypsy) musicians; the West European world-music industry highlights such collaborations, but this chapter argues that Hudba z Marsu and Romani performers treated their interactions as an everyday matter. Abstract:
This book argues that Bruno Mars is uniquely positioned to borrow from his heritage and experiential knowledge as well as his musical talent, performative expertise, and hybrid identities (culturally, ethnically, and racially) to remix music that can create "new music nostalgia." Melinda Mills attends to the ways that Mars is precariously positioned in relation to all of the racial and ethnic groups that constitute his known background and argues that this complexity serves him well in the contemporary moment. Engaging in the performative politics of blackness allows Mars to advocate for socia
