Abstract:
Two scales have been proposed to measure Maslow's hierarchy of needs in college students, one by Lester (1990) and one by Strong and Fiebert (1987). In a sample of 51 college students, scores on the corresponding scales for the five needs did not correlate significantly and positively, except for the measures of physiological needs. Furthermore, there was limited support for Maslow's hypothesis that need deprivation would predict psychopathology (specifically, mania and depression).

Abstract:
ABSTRACT One of the famous Motivation Theory is Abraham H. Maslow's Motivation Theory which is also referred to as Abraham H. Maslow's Motivation Theory or Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theory. Students' Mathematics Learning Achievement and Mathematics Learning Outcomes can be categorized as low, so a solution needs to be given by implying Abraham H. Maslow's Motivation Theory. The research method used in this research is Literature Study, where the researcher analyzes Abraham H. Maslow's Motivation Theory directly from Abraham H. Maslow's book entitled Motivation and Personality (translation of Achmad Fawaid and Maufur, the publisher of Cantrik Pustaka), then the researcher analyzes the impact of the theory. if it is implied in mathematics learning activities. Abraham H. Maslow's Motivation Theory in the first stage can be applied in mathematics learning activities by providing food and drink to students, the second stage can be applied by making students safe in mathematics learning activities, the third stage can be applied by establishing communication between teachers and students, The fourth stage can be applied in a way that there is mutual respect between teachers and students and fellow students, and the fifth stage can be applied by providing opportunities for students to express opinions in discussion activities. By implying Abraham H. Maslow's Motivation Theory can influence or improve students' Mathematics Learning Achievement and Mathematics Learning Outcomes. Abstract:
Social behavior of customers receives a sideline in social media, and the focus appears to be persistent on lead, conversions, and engagement. The psychology of customers is a significant element in the study of social media adoption. Maslow's theory on the hierarchy of needs describes the urge for strong desires after the individual's lower level is satisfied. The study attempts to examine and map the linkages of the Maslow Hierarchy with Social Media Adoption. The study is quantitative and descriptive. The responses from the sample size of 287 were collected using structured a questionnaire. EFA was performed to identify and map the items relating to each level of the hierarchy. CFA was conducted to find the goodness of fit. The findings suggest that the theory of Maslow's fits well with the proposed social media adoption model. The results revealed that social media adoption follows Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory. The study may be carried out for scale development for evaluating intentions and reasons for social media usage. The companies can make use of the suggested model in the study for launching their various marketing campaigns.

Abstract:
Broad categories have been suggested for the events which contribute to happiness. In 1943 Maslow might have argued that people are happy when they meet or continue to meet their basic needs in his hierarchy of needs. A survey was given to 150 college students to assess which of Maslow's levels of need is perceived to be most important to happiness. Falling or staying in love was chosen significantly more often than the other choices by undergraduates of both genders. These results suggest that love is considered to be an extremely important contributor to the feeling of happiness among college students.

Abstract:
Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs offers a perspective on the motivation of college students and provides a rationale for retention programming in institutions of higher learning. The interventions of student affairs staff and faculty members which address the safety needs of students and engage students' sense of purpose tend to reinforce persistence. The result is improved rates of retention. The possible role faculty might play in a “mentor program” is discussed as a model of cooperative endeavor between the teaching faculty and the student affairs staff.

Social science theories are expressive acts by their authors, and thus reflect their authors' life experiences and developmental tasks. Maslow's theory of human motivation and Alderfer's conception of existence, relatedness, and growth (ERG) needs are frameworks accounting for the same phenomena. An alternative to Maslow's formulation, ERG theory was presented during a later historical period than its predecessor, and at an earlier stage of its author's life. In this autobiographical account, the author describes his childhood and adolescent origins and the events that led him to formulate ERG theory, examines the life stages at which he and Maslow developed their theories, and discusses how aspects of the authors' lives might account for similarities and differences in their conceptual products.

Abstract:
A well-designed office environment is often touted as a key motivator nowdays, although it is not entirely clear how to use it consciously. Our goal was to understand the role of the physical environment in new generation offices and whether it can be a motivator at all. We asked open-office employees to describe the three main criteria of an excellent work environment. We analyzed 509 participants' 1456 answers and classified them into 146 content codes. These content codes were further categorized based on whether they refer to the physical or/and the social environment, as well as along the eight needs Maslow described. 82.07 % of the answers referred to the physical environment, ambient stimuli dominated the sample with 324 mentions under 6 content codes (eg.: bright (128), quiet (69)). The majority (55.59 %) of the responses could be categorized under Maslow’s safety needs, but 14.15 % of them referred to one of Maslow’s growth needs (eg.: plants (26), decoration (21)). Using the intersection of Maslow's and Herzberg's theory, we argue that certain physical environmental aspects can be considered as a hygiene factor, some of them as a motivator. And some of them as both meaning some aspects can be considered on more level from an emotional-motivational perspective. Planning an office is not just an architectural question, but a psychological one as well. In order to design human-focused work places we need to understand the exact role and the layering of the physical environmental aspects.

Motivation is an important management tool, especially in those organisations that are heavily dependent on the skills and ability of men rather than on machines. The police department is one such organisation which still today, despite modernisation, is human oriented. Police managers need to understand methods for motivating officers and men working under them. Maslow's Theory of Hierarchy of Needs provides a simple yet effective way of motivating employees. A study conducted in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra State (India) provides an insight into the motivating needs of police officers and men in the district. The study also points towards the steps that senior police managers need to take in order to have a highly motivated police force.

Based on Maslow's motivational theory, a self-report inventory utilizing a modified paired-comparison format was developed to assess need potencies within individuals. This method permits both multiple comparisons of items from each need level with each other and an assessment of the intensity levels of each item. 59 individuals participated in the study. The construct validity of the inventory was evaluated by examining the consistency of items designed to measure the same need. Correlations ranged between .52 and .65. The mean potencies of each need level were determined; an analysis of variance showed differences to be significant in the predicted direction.

Abstract:
This research was conducted with the aim of describing the main character's personality in the novel "Genduk" by Sundari Mardjuki (Literature Psychology Study) by using Abraham Maslow's perspective. The data in this study are derived from the novel Genduk by Sundari Mardjuki, Cetakan November 2017, the publisher of PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama, with a total of 232 pages. Data is collected by library method, see, record, and documentation. The findings of the study show that all the needs theory proposed by Abraham Maslow has been obtained by the main character. The five needs raised include physiological needs or basic needs, the need for security, needs to be owned and loved, the need for self-esteem, and the need for self-actualization. The results showed that the fulfillment of these five needs in the main character found a good personality development from the main characters, including sociability, compassion, helping, not being easily offended, never giving up in achieving desires, and wise in responding to conflicts or problems.

Abstract:
This article discusses the level of literacy traditions in Indonesia, especially with regard to the publication of comparatively low scientific journal articles. Psychologically, one that affects the level of scientific journal publications relates to the motivation of the authors. This article describes the views and motivations of authors of the Al-Ahwal Journal: Journal of Islamic Family Law, one of the nationally accredited journals (Rank two), published by Islamic Family Law Study Program, Syari'ah Faculty and Law, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Sources of research data were 30 respondents as article writers and 2 speakers. The data is analyzed through a psychological perspective, using motivational theories developed by Abraham Maslow and Alderfer. The study revealed that the motivation to write articles in journals is not based on the fulfillment of physiological needs and the need for security as in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, nor is it driven by the existence needs in Alderfer's theory. The writing tradition in Al-Ahwal's journal was motivated more by social needs and self-actualization in Maslow's theory, or based on factors to meet the needs of social relations and self-development as found in Alderfer's theory.

Abstract:
Socio-economic groups differ in their material, living, working and social circumstances, which may result in different priorities about their daily-life needs, including the priority to make healthy food choices. Following Maslow's hierarchy of human needs, we hypothesised that socio-economic inequalities in healthy food choices can be explained by differences in the levels of need fulfilment. Postal survey data collected in 2011 (67·2 % response) from 2903 participants aged 20–75 years in the Dutch GLOBE (Gezondheid en Levens Omstandigheden Bevolking Eindhoven en omstreken) study were analysed. Maslow's hierarchy of human needs (measured with the Basic Need Satisfaction Inventory) was added to age- and sex-adjusted linear regression models that linked education and net household income levels to healthy food choices (measured by a FFQ). Most participants (38·6 %) were in the self-actualisation layer of the pyramid. This proportion was highest among the highest education group (47·6 %). Being in a higher level of the hierarchy was associated with a higher consumption of fruits and vegetables as well as more healthy than unhealthy bread, snack and dairy consumption. Educational inequalities in fruit and vegetable intake (B= − 1·79, 95 % CI − 2·31, − 1·28 in the lowest education group) were most reduced after the hierarchy of needs score was included (B= − 1·57, 95 % CI − 2·09, − 1·05). Inequalities in other healthy food choices hardly changed after the hierarchy of needs score was included. People who are satisfied with higher-level needs make healthier food choices. Studies aimed at understanding socio-economic inequalities in food choice behaviour need to take differences in the priority given to daily-life needs by different socio-economic groups into account, but Maslow's pyramid offers little help.

Every human being has basic needs that require fulfillment, adolescents have unique behavior to meet those needs. If there are needs that are not met, then it will cause various forms of behavior deviation for the individual concerned. so that if basic needs are not met it will lead to the emergence of dissatisfaction, frustration and stunted growth and the development of positive attitudes towards the environment and students' self. Therefore it is necessary to do various efforts by all parties concerned, such as parents, teachers / schools to meet the needs of these adolescents. The purpose of this program: educating teachers and students' understanding of Abraham Maslow's Basic Needs in Mantra Mariana Foundation High School (SMA YP), Banyuasin I District, South Sumatra Province Method: used by providing health education using counseling methods. The activities will be held in April 2019, involving 10 teachers and students from grade X to grade XI with a total of 38 students. Teachers and students an understanding of the 5 basic levels of Abraham Maslow's basic needs that must be carried out at school includes the fulfillment of physiological needs, security, comfort, affection and acceptance, self-esteem and finally self-actualization needs. Results: All teachers and students get Abraham Maslow's basic health education needs. Conclusion: After educating the teacher and students understand the importance of meeting the basic needs of students while in school. Suggestion: It is hoped that teachers and education providers can facilitate the fulfillment of the basic needs of students at school.

Abstract:
In this article, we examine the macroeconomic parameter final consumption (FC) by assuming it is an indicator of human development; the latter, ultimately, determines the socio-economic conditions in society. The aim is to bind the aggregate final consumption to human needs. For this purpose, the methodology of the analysis grows up on two pillars: on the side of human needs we take Maslow's theory of motivation, and on the side of the economy, we take the product structure of total final consumption. By analogy, based on a theoretical analysis, we constructed a model, which describes the basic human needs classified by Maslow [1], in economic terms. We tested empirically the model, especially, the hierarchy of the five product categories of FC referred to basic human needs. Other hypotheses about relationships between this product structure of FC and the socio-economic standard are also under consideration

Abstract:
The emotional selection hypothesis describes a cyclical process that uses dreams to modify and test select mental schemas. An extension is proposed that further characterizes these schemas as facilitators of human need satisfaction. A pilot study was conducted in which this hypothesis was tested by assigning 100 dream reports (10 randomly selected from 10 dream logs at an online web site) to one or more categories within Maslow's hierarchy of needs. A “match” was declared when at least two of three judges agreed both for category and for whether the identified need was satisfied or thwarted in the dream narrative. The interjudge reliability of the judged needs was good (92% of the reports contained at least one match). The number of needs judged as thwarted did not differ significantly from the number judged as satisfied (48 vs 52%, respectively). The six “higher” needs (belongingness, esteem, cognitive, aesthetic, self-actualization, and transcendence) were scored significantly more frequently (81%) than were the two lowest or “basic” needs (physiological and safety, 19%). Basic needs were also more likely to be judged as thwarted, while higher needs were more likely to be judged as satisfied. These findings are discussed in the context of Maslow's hierarchy of needs as a framework for investigating theories of dream function, including the emotional selection hypothesis and other contemporary dream theories.

Abstract:
AbstractMaslow's (1954) theory of a hierarchy of human needs has generated little research, perhaps because of the lack of specific, concrete operationalisation of concepts such as ‘psychological well-being’ and basic need satisfaction. The Need Satisfaction Inventory (NSI: Lester, 1990) was developed to measure basic need satisfaction and 157 undergraduate subjects completed both it and the Beck Depression (BDI) and Anxiety Inventories (BAI), as well as Spielberger's (1986) Anger-Expression questionnaire (AX). The latter three questionnaires represent an operationalisation of Spielberger, Ritterband, Sydeman, Reheiserdc Unger's (1995) notion that emotions act as indicators of psychological well-being. The hypothesis that scores on the NSI would be significantly correlated with the BDI, BAI, and AX was supported. Ss also completed the Richins and Dawson (1992) materialism index, and it was hypothesised that if hoarding material goods does in fact represent compensatory neurotic behaviour, then materialism would also be negatively correlated with the NSI. The hypothesis was confirmed, providing further evidence for Maslow's (1970) theory that basic need satisfaction is associated with psychological health. However, in the absence of norms for the NSI, there was no conclusive evidence to suggest that basic needs reside in a consistent, and strict global hierarchy.
