Abstract:
In the detection of small size mass loading, such as a single cell, a micro droplet or an aerosol particle, the sensors with longitudinally coupled surface acoustic wave resonator (LC-SAWR) structure can hardly avoid waveform distortions. The relative size of mass loading to the sensitive surface of the detector is the main factor affecting the response of LC-SAWR. The smaller the relative size, the worse the waveform distortion. In order to avoid influences from the mass loading’s size, in this paper, a transversely coupled SAW resonator (TC-SAWR) was proposed in order to achieve high perform

A complete numerical calculation procedure for predicting the effects of mass loading and particle diameter on laminar slurry jet breakup in a low velocity, coaxial gas stream has been developed. The method is based on the Volume of Fluid technique for the Navier-Stokes equations. The severe restrictions involved in earlier treatments have been relaxed. The influence of particle loading on liquid phase density and the influence of particle spacing on drag are included. Its spatial distribution is quite uniform for all GPS sites in the region, and the first principal component, uniformly distributed in the region, has a spatial response of more than 70%. At low mass loadings, only β-RDX was observed regardless of solvent when using the drop cast crystallization method. The solar wind interaction with an icy comet is studied through a model problem. A hybrid simulation is done of a box with evenly distributed water ions and protons, where initially the water ions are stationary, and protons move with the speed of the solar wind. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the interaction between the two species through the convective electric field, and focus is on early acceleration of pick-up ions, and deflection of the solar wind. Transient changes in Earth’s shape can be readily identified, but the tectonic plate movements and Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) will also influence the secular trends of Earth’s shape. To analyse secular trends in surface mass loading, these two confounding factors must be quantified. Buildings with non coincident centres of mass and stiffness respond in both translation and rotation during seismic ground excitations. This translational and rotational interaction (torsional coupling) can lead to excessive forces in some structural members. Previous elastic analytical studies have determined the structural parameters that govern the degree of torsional coupling. However, engineering excavation causes rock damage and decreases in rock mass strength. Rock damage is closely related to its acoustic properties during the fracture process.
