Abstract:
The article deals with nonverbal communication in the context of journalistic practice. The interpretation of nonverbal cues as one of the professional competencies of mass media workers is defined. The coverage of this topic in Ukrainian and foreign scientific and educational literature is analyzed. As a result the insufficient consideration of the basic rules of nonverbal interpretation for mass media workers was revealed. Four basic principles of nonverbal communication in the context of a journalistic practice are considered. Understanding that nonverbal means are mostly perceived and transmitted unconsciously allows media workers to avoid misinterpreting their own behavior and the signals of an interviewee. Also it helps to prevent bias effect for media audience caused by nonverbal behavior of an interviewer. The concept of "starting point" in nonverbal communication could contribute to better preparation for the conversation with the interlocutor. Options for determining the "average" nonverbal behavior of the interviewee are offered. The awareness of the influence of the attitude to another person on the perception of his nonverbal characteristics is also important for avoiding bias and changing tactic whіle communicating with difficult respondents. The switch from the interpretation of a single signal to the considering them cumulatively reduces the probability of error. The article considers the concepts of nonverbal synchrony and mirroring from the point of view of their use by journalists. Three control methods that can be used by a mass media worker to check his interpretation's conclusions based on the interlocutor's non-verbal signals are presented. They are indirect open question, direct closed question and silence (pause). It is concluded that journalist's misinterpretation of his own and others' nonverbal signals could lead to the violation of professional ethics and international standards of a presenting information. The main functional possibilities provided by the interpretation of nonverbal means are listed. Prospects for further research are outlined, including formulating standards of nonverbal behavior in the media in terms of thematic and genre requirements.

Abstract:
Introduction. The presence of highly toxic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the production of aluminum and organochlorine compounds (OCC) in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) poses a serious threat to the health of workers, necessitates biological monitoring of toxicants and their metabolites in biological media to assess health risks on basis of modern methods chemical analysis. Material and methods. Biomonitoring studies of the content of marker metabolite OCC - thiodiacetic acid (TDAA) in urine were performed in 65 workers of PVC production and PAHs metabolite - 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHPyr) in 144 workers of the aluminum smelter using developed own methods of gas-chromato-mass-spectrometric (GC-MS) analysis. Sample analysis was performed on an Agilent 7890A gas chromatograph with an Agilent 5979 mass selective detector. Results. Methodological methods and parameters of GC-MS measurement of TDAA and 1-OHPyr in urine, which provided high selectivity and sensitivity of the analysis of samples, were examined and considered. Reliable differences in the levels of marker metabolites among the groups of main and auxiliary occupations and persons in the control groups, their dependence on the degree of exposure to PAHs, and OCC were established. The highest concentrations of TDAA in urine were observed in unit operators of PVC workshop and 1-OHPyr - in anode workers of aluminum production. Discussion. The revealed reliable intergroup and interindividual differences in the contents of TDAA and 1-OHPyr in the urine of workers indicate the reliability and informativeness of the results of the analysis of biological media. The results are consistent with data from foreign studies, confirm the occupational - production nature of the exposure of toxicants among workers in the main professions of enterprises. Conclusion. The results of approbation of highly sensitive and selective methods for the determination of TDAA and 1-OHPyr in urine samples developed on the base of GC-MS method demonstrate the possibility of their use in biomonitoring studies of workers of productions and the population to adequately assess the exposure of highly toxic PAHs and OCC.

SummaryThis article considers the Italian household product design company Alessi as quintessentially Italian and international. The interplay of mass-production and craft techniques at Alessi, an extended design process and the presentation of the family in company publicity exemplify the ambiguities identified within Italian design. The extent to which Alessi typifies Italian post-war design is questioned with reference to the company's international design team and the marketing of its products to foreign consumers as manifestations of italianità. The findings are based on primary research in Milan and the Alessi factory, including a series of interviews with designers, retailers, curators and media workers, combined with secondary material centred upon design history.

Abstract:
The Dutch company nationalization policy in 1958 had a broad impact in various fields related to the economic, political, and socio-cultural aspects. Due to the presence of anti-foreign phenomena as the efforts to escape from the grip of the West, it increasingly supported the public responses in no time. Various social and cultural actions happened in many places, just like a nationalization process continuation. Thousands of Dutch people were expelled from the Republic of Indonesia, accompanied by various demonstrations performed by workers and artists, making the atmosphere tense. The Dutch government got angry and felt offended by the actions committed by the citizens. What forms of socio-cultural actions took place after the nationalization of Dutch companies in 1958? This study aimed to obtain in-depth pictures of various forms of socio-cultural actions performed by wider communities (especially workers and cultural actors) in the context of nationalization in Indonesia. This study used a library method by tracing primary and secondary data sources and analyzing them after testing the validity. The research results show that the format of socio-cultural actions tended to be in mass mobilization and debates in parliaments and mass media.

Abstract:
Agricultural employment in advanced economies has been suggestively described as a “short and step” pyramid with only limited opportunities for workers to climb to higher positions, especially when they belong to the most vulnerable categories, such as migrants. The presence of poor jobs and living conditions for temporary agricultural workers reported by mass media, trade unions, NGOs, and international observers contrasts dramatically with the idea of a modern and thriving sector, as the Italian agricultural sector should be, and it represents a challenge for the social concerns that have been alongside environmental ones in the definition of sustainability since the Brundtland Report released in 1987 by the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED). Even mechanisation does not necessarily facilitate better working conditions. In fact, where the workforce is largely replaced by machineries, the remaining opportunities for paid workers are mainly for unskilled, physically demanding, and seasonal jobs. This has brought about the so-called “paradox of prosperity”, where the gap between farm and nonfarm workers in economically advanced countries has widened in terms of wages, benefits, and prospects for upward mobility. This in turn triggers a vicious circle with a structural lack of available workforce for the sector, which has been increasingly provided by migrants with very little bargaining power. On the other hand, the adoption of new technologies and digitalisation in agriculture is leading to an increasing demand for skilled workers, which often remains uncovered because of the low conditions offered. Against this background, the aim of our work is twofold. First, we characterise the role of the foreign workforce in relation to the structural changes in Italian agriculture and considering territorial differences. Second, we examine the main policy instruments to facilitate recruitment and tackle undeclared work and more specifically the Quality Agricultural Work Network (Rete del lavoro agricolo di qualità) launched in Italy in 2016 to tackle undeclared work and exploitative labour. We do so by conducting a literature review and semi-structured qualitative interviews with 16 farmers in Italy carried out in 2022 within the project Rural Social ACT funded by the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (2021–2027). The results show that even though foreign workers are a key resource for agriculture in Italy, there remain severe recruitment issues and segregation in low-skilled and precarious jobs. Overall, it is necessary to improve the awareness of the key role of work in agriculture and to strengthen the effectiveness of tools to enhance the visibility of compliant farms. So far (January 2024), only 6600 farms have joined the Quality Agricultural Work Network, with an overall modest enthusiasm from the farmers interviewed about its current effectiveness. Other instruments are explored such as employee sharing contracts, and there clearly emerges a need for public support of professional training through the Common Agricultural Policy to improve both the bargaining power of foreign workers and the productivity of the sector.

Abstract:
Introduction. This study is concerned with a problem of current interest, namely, the everyday political life of workers at the USSR Peoples’ Commissariat of Foreign Affairs during the Great Patriotic War. The novelty of the present study lies in the fact that the problem has been little investigated, while several documents are thereby introduced into general use for the first time. Materials and methods. The sources were the document complex in the Archive of Foreign Politics of the Russian Federation. The methodology is based on general scholar, special historical and source studies methods. Results. One of the components in the everyday political life of the Soviet diplomat Palgunov, who headed the Press Department in the Peoples’ Commissariat of Foreign Affairs, consisted of contacts with foreign correspondents who represented the mass media of the Allies, namely, Great Britain and the US. The correspondents were eager for getting the information concerning the war effort of the Soviet Union and the contributions into the defense of the country on the part of its citizens in the rear. However, this was hindered by the presence of strict political censorship in the USSR. The situation was aggravated by acute competition between British and American correspondents. Given these conditions, Palgunov acted as a kind of referee who was called upon to aid, both in obtaining information on the situation on the front and for help in the needs of their everyday life. Conclusions. The present author used the unpublished job diary of Palgunov for 1941–1942 to get a more accurate list of the British and American correspondents who were accredited in the USSR during that period of time. When combined with Palgunov’s memoirs, this source was used to present a true picture of how the Press Department was interacting with foreign correspondents. This author emphasized subjects such as the peculiarities in the activity of foreign correspondents in Moscow and Kuibyshev and in questions relating to the organization of their trips to the front zone. It has been found why they blamed Palgunov for bureaucracy and incompetence.

Abstract:
The government and the parliament have decided to pass problematic bills, such as the Corruption Eradication Commission Bill (RUU KPK), the Criminal Code Bill (RUU KUHP), and the Omnibus Law (RUU Cipta Kerja) into laws. The reasons behind the passage of the bills irto laws are to make bureaucracy easier and facilitate foreign investment inflows to Indonesia. However, the decision-making process failed to involve elements of the community, such as academics, workers, working class, press, and related stakeholders. Consequently, students staged rallies to protest against the passage of the bills into laws in 2019 – 2020. This researchuses an approach qualitative methodology with a critical paradigm. The goal of critical theory is to change a reality that is always unbalanced and dominated. This research tries to encourage change towards a better society and emancipations. The data analysis technique comprises analysis of information sources from the mass media and analysis of research documents. The results of this study find that students had two strategic political communications during the protest. First, the social media movement sent hash tagged messages such as #Reformasidikorupsi #Gejayanmemangil and #Mositidakpercaya. Second, student staged demonstrations in front of the Presidential Place and the House of Representatives Building. When the government and parliament conspire with oligarchs to make policies to maintain power, then conflicts of interest with society, and student protests will be inevitable. As a result, the students have declared a motion of no confidence for parliament in a non-parliamentary participatory democratic system.

Abstract:
Lately, the image of a woman-wage earner, a migrant from another country, has become a particular symbol of the economic disadvantage of some countries and a symbol of the search for a better life in a foreign land. In the Ukrainian cultural context, the image of a wage earner in literature is classic: starting with oral folk art and fiction and ending with film images of the modern period. Instead, our study proposes to change slightly the aspect of view to the problem and to analyse it through the prism of gender and national stereotypes, highlighting the critical narratives of the history of migration and employment of women, not only Ukrainian but also Polish. This will remove some of the connotations of cross-national insults or under-appreciation and open up areas for further exploration of such narratives in film content. Stereotyped images broadcast in film material through rigid narratives are even more important for research because, on the one hand, they reflect specific structures of collective ordinary consciousness. On the other hand, they form them. It is, in particular, about the processes of the transgression of stable consciousness concepts through mass media. While analysing film images, we can trace certain constructs of narratives related to a migrant woman trying to earn money in another country. First of all, she appears as rightless, unadapted to another culture, the one who can apply for unskilled work (usually due to the language barrier and other factors), and under challenging conditions, her country is poor and does not give her opportunities; also women earn for family, that suits men completely, so there is an emphasis on the inability of some people at the expense of others, on gender stigmatisation.

Abstract:
The author states the problem of mass social pedagogical practice improving through the development of ideas and techniques of creative pedagogy. Against the background of the growing need for qualified social and pedagogical assistance and the expansion of the school social work problems, there is a lack of creative technologies in the arsenal of school social workers, and conversely their high effectiveness in specialized services with different contingents of minors. In the theoretical aspect, we give the definition of creative technologies, reveal their functions in solving social and pedagogical problems (developing, communicative, compensatory, rehabilitation, hedonistic, recreational). There is an interpretation of the creativity phenomenon as the goal and means of socio-pedagogical activity. The author gives the typology of creative socio-pedagogical technologies: audio-visual, musical-dramatic, visual, training, game, socio-cultural design. There is an indication on the expediency of including creative modules in the training program for bachelors of psychological and pedagogical direction. We are emphasizing foreign and Russian experience in the instrumental training of social workers based on art-pedagogical and art-therapeutic techniques. In practical terms, author analyzes her own experience in teaching the discipline “Creative techniques in work with minors”. There is an example of the creative product developed by students - an integrative artistic and creative methodology “Family Theater” for work with the minor’s family. Thus, we’ve made a conclusion about the need of mastering the creative tools and ideas of creative pedagogy for further technologization and humanization of social and pedagogical activities.

Abstract:
The article examines the work of the “Moscow Longevity” state project/program. The analysis is carried through on the assessments given by the elderly residents of Moscow, as well as specialists from social welfare institutions responsible for the implementation of the program. The program is newly established and has been working in Moscow for over two years. The author names 4 stages for the implementation of the program: preparatory, trial, main, and “special” stages. This staging is based on the existing legal acts regulating the implementation of the project, as well as on the analysis of sociological research. The primary sources of data are: interviews conducted by the author with elderly residents of Moscow regarding the “Moscow Longevity” program (April-May 2020); surveys and focus groups conducted by the author during her work at the Moscow Institute of Additional Professional Training of Social Workers (2016-2017). The article examines statistics and publications in the mass media concerning the success of the “Moscow Longevity” project. Elderly Muscovites and employees of social organizations highly appreciated the ongoing activities, noting their relevance and timeliness, both for involving senior citizens in an active lifestyle and for adapting the elderly to a new period of life “for themselves”. Participants of the program take computer courses, study foreign languages, attend dance lessons, go to sports classes, develop artistic and aesthetic skills, master tourism, and visit cultural sites in Moscow. However, the program also has significant drawbacks, eliminating which requires significant material and technical resources as well as personnel work. Each year the participants voiced the same problems associated with the poor condition of the premises and the lack of an individual approach to activities’ organization. The “special” stage related to the situation with the coronavirus pandemic revealed a lack of computer skills among the program participants (despite the conducted computer classes) and inability to quickly adapt to new conditions.

Foreign workers are generally not able to speak Indonesian so some foreign worker employers facilitate foreign workers with interpreters. considering that interpreters are very helpful in bridging communication between foreign workers and local workers. However, on the other hand, the main obligation of employers of foreign workers related to language issues is to facilitate Indonesian language education and training for foreign workers. This study uses a normative method with library research data collection techniques. The results show that in the provisions for the use of foreign workers, there is no obligation for employers to facilitate foreign workers with interpreters, besides that there is also no prohibition for employers of foreign workers to facilitate interpreters, this then shows that there are no explicit provisions regulates the position of interpreters in accompanying foreign workers so that the involvement of translators accompanying foreign workers does not have legal consequences for employers who employ foreign workers.

In the modern theories in the science of International Relations, the traditional pillar of the school of Realism that considered the state as the only actor in the international scene, actor who took every decision in a monolithic and rational way, taking into consideration only the national interest, has now been rejected. The metaphor of the "black box", indicative of this monolithic way of operation and the rejection of every non-state, but also intra-state and out-of-state actor, even if it was valid once, has definitely been weakened by the events of the post-cold war era, and especially with the advent of globalization. New parameters have been inserted in the process of foreign policy formulation and politicians (and all those responsible for a country‘s foreign policy) have to take them into consideration.

Abstract:
Problem Statement and Purpose. The hotel and tourism industry is one of the most attractive sectors of the economy for investment due to small initial capital investments, the ever-growing demand of society for tourism and hotel services, a high level of profitability and the average payback period of projects. The hotel and tourism industries stimulate the development of related sectors of the national economy, primarily construction and trade, and contribute to the creation of new jobs. The hotel and tourist industries actively influence the economy of the city (region, country in general), in particular, the spheres of economic and social activity. Military actions on the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of 2022 have significantly affected the demand and supply of hotel services in the country. The destruction of accommodation facilities damaged by shelling and their loss as a result of the occupation was the result of a decrease in the supply of the hotel market. As a result, number pools were emptied in many regions. The hotel industry of the northern, eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, as well as the city of Kyiv, suffered the greatest negative impact. The best situation in the hotel business is currently demonstrated in the western part of Ukraine, where accommodation establishments are operating in full and in fact at 100 percent capacity. As for the hotel sector in other parts of the country: companies have faced difficulties in providing services. The main goal of accommodation facilities was to adapt companies to the realities of wartime, taking into account curfews and air raids. Searching for new forms of service and re-equipment of establishments according to safety requirements became important tasks of hotels. Data & Methods. The research used data from official websites and articles from Ukrainian web magazines. Empirical research methods (observation and monitoring of hotel services) and the forecasting method were used to achieve the goal. Results. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the country’s tourism industry has significantly decreased It is also complicated by the fact that Ukraine, like many other countries of the world, has not yet fully “recovered” from the coronavirus pandemic. For these very reasons, foreign tourism is not developing. First, a large number of citizens have increased expenses and decreased incomes. Secondly, conscripts cannot go abroad with their families, even if they have the means to do so. Third, there are logistical problems. Besides, there will be no flow of foreign tourists until the country becomes safe. And today’s visit to Ukraine is this mainly representatives of foreign mass media and industry workers who move around the country for work. In such difficult conditions for the Ukrainian hospitality sector, as martial law, service failures are an unpredictable state, where work standards are very important and demonstrate service to the guest. That is why accommodation establishments must be able to identify possible problems that may be caused by external factors and develop options for behavior in the event of their occurrence (as in the case of a power outage – hotels operate with the help of generators). It is also very important to “show concern for the guest”. This applies to such details as: the mode of operation of various services, the format of check-in and check-out, the operation of room service and, as relevant, the mode of operation of the generator, and what services are available with it. Currently, the western part of Ukraine continues to function actively (which will continue to be popular over the next 5 years, due to the need to restore infrastructure in other parts of the country) and domestic tourism is developing. I can assume that in the future, after the liberation of the state from the occupiers, inbound tourism will be active and will be associated with business trips and the involvement of European countries in the reconstruction process. There will also be the resumption of work of some hotel chains and the launch of accommodation facilities that have suspended their opening due to martial law. Regarding the speed of restoration of the hotel industry, such two factors as the duration of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine and the level of migration of the country’s citizens abroad can testify. So far, the guests of accommodation establishments are mainly Ukrainians (99%), the latter (1%) – foreign journalists, military personnel, volunteers and representatives of international organizations.

Today, the mass media (mainstream) still occupies an important role. In this regard, the mass media can play an important role in language development, especially Indonesian. The variety of languages that exist in society affects the language of the mass media. On the other hand, the language of the mass media also affects the language in society. This research design is qualitative. The variable studied was BIRJ's foreign language vocabulary. Qualitative research design is considered the most relevant to be applied in this study because this research is exploratory and is not intended to test hypotheses. In data analysis, the following activities were carried out: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. In terms of sentence types, foreign language words are found in both direct and indirect sentences of BIRJ. In this case, there are at least three kinds of phenomena, namely (1) foreign language words without explanation, (2) foreign language words with descriptions, and (3) foreign language words as descriptions. Regarding word writing, foreign language words are still found in BIRJ which are not written with foreign language writing rules and foreign words that have been absorbed are written with foreign language writing rules.

Abstract:
In the era of speed and technology, mass media has an important role in keeping people informed about events happening all around the world, but also in shaping their opinion. One of the main issues that mass-media focuses on is represented by terrorist propaganda. Nowadays, terrorist attacks have become more frequent, and we argue that, due to their social and emotional intelligence, terrorists have the power to manipulate not only people but also mass media. The purpose of our paper was to assess the way Romanian and foreign online mass-media channels present information about Islamic terrorist groups and the activities developed by them, in order to raise awareness about the matter of propaganda and the role of mass media in promoting it. In order to conduct the research, content analysis was used as a method. A total of 36 news presented online by Romanian and foreign mass-media channels were analyzed. The result of the research revealed that Romanian mass-media channels focus more on using words with aggressive content, and that foreign mass-media channels focus on religious and cultural-geographic content. Therefore, the results of the research revealed that the way mass media presents terrorist attacks can unintentionally contribute to the promotion of terrorist propaganda.

The article discusses the prospects of the foreign news research in the media of modern East Asia. The authors present a brief literature review on political discourse in East Asian media and suggest possible research strategies for studying the international agenda in the media of these countries. The article argues that such research approach is valuable as it allows one to better understand the way East Asian countries view foreign news and international relations, study the socio-political processes in this region from a new angle and evaluate the role of the media in politics. The article discusses several social sciences theories that can help to explain and interpret observations obtained during the analysis of publications in the media, for example, the theory of media domestication, the concepts of external legitimacy and "othering". Political regime, independence and commercialization of the media are discussed among explanatory factors. The authors pay attention to the specifics of these theories’ application to the case of East Asia, provide recommendations for data collection and research methods, and discuss various research trajectories. For example, researchers can focus on trends in the representation of an event in the media using content analysis of a large number of publications, another possible strategy is to study a small number of articles using critical discourse analysis in order to identify discursive practices and their relationship with political processes and power. Knowledge of the language, history, politics and culture of East Asian countries, gives researchers of East Asia a significant advantage in conducting such research and could provide valuable contributions.

Abstract The use of mass communication in the field of foreign language teaching is not a new phenomenon, because traditional media have been in use in this area for a few decades. Nowadays, however, several tendencies confirming the scale of this phenomenon can be observed. Mass media, and new media in particular, are used both in the process of self-education and as an important tool used by foreign language teachers. Technological progress, the communication revolution, the spread of the Internet, and the development of new media and mobile technologies offer modern and more effective methods of language education. This article reviews the conditions relating to the relationship between mass media and language learning, taking into account the possibility of using one of the key functions of mass communication, namely its educational function. The authors, using literature analysis, defined and analyzed the causes of specific symbiosis between media tools and technologies as well as the methodology used in the field of foreign language teaching.

Abstract:
China has undergone a media revolution that has transformed the domestic context for making foreign policy as well as domestic policy. The commercialization of the mass media has changed the way leaders and publics interact in the process of making foreign policy. As they compete with one another, the new media naturally try to appeal to the tastes of their potential audiences. Editors make choices about which stories to cover based on their judgments about which ones will resonate best with audiences. In China today, that means a lot of stories about Japan, Taiwan, and the United States, the topics that are the objects of Chinese popular nationalism. The publicity given these topics makes them domestic political issues because they are potential focal points for elite dis-agreement and mass collective action, and thereby constrains the way China' leaders and diplomats deal with them. Even relatively minor events involving China' relations with Japan, Taiwan, or the United States become big news, and therefore relations with these three governments must be carefully handled by the politicians in the Communist Party Politburo Standing Committee. Because of the Internet, it is impossible for Party censors to screen out news from Japan, Taiwan or the United States that might upset the public. Common knowledge of such news forces officials to react to every slight, no matter how small. Foreign policy makers feel especially constrained by nationalist public opinion when it comes to its diplomacy with Japan. Media marketization and the Internet have helped make Japan China' most emotionally charged international relationship.

Abstract:
Mass media have undergone significant changes during the global development of the Internet. Easy access to content creation and distribution, blogging, social networks encouraged the media to search for new forms and methods of communication with the audience. The most affected by the changes were traditional media, in particular newspapers, which were forced to reduce their circulation or go online entirely. However, this format also needs to be changed due to financial problems. One of the common mechanisms of functioning in global online media is paid content, the so-called paywall. This approach involves attracting funds from readers through a monthly subscription or paid individual materials. In the USA and Western European countries, paid content in online media began to be introduced at the beginning of the 21st century. The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal were among the first media to resort to such a tool for attracting funds from readers. If the New York Times simply limited the limit of free materials to twenty, then The Wall Street Journal completely limited access to the full versions of its publications. Different models of paid content have also been introduced by French and Australian online media. Kyiv Post newspaper introduced such a model for the first time in Ukraine. However, this means of mass information is not intended for a wide audience, and was immediately aimed at a niche audience. Therefore, we believe that the first socio-political Internet mass media in Ukraine that resorted to the paywall model was the edition "Novyi Chas", which began to work according to this scheme in 2020. Liga.net was another Internet mass media, which offered readers an ad-free version of online mass media for a nominal fee. The impetus for collecting funds from readers in Ukraine was the coronavirus pandemic, when the number of advertisers decreased significantly. The next challenge was the war, so online media should look for new ways to attract and retain an audience, as well as receive finances for stable operation.

Abstract:
In a recent plea for immigration reform, President Obama called for lawmakers to endorse policy that would encourage highly skilled workers to stay in the United States (Yellin 2013). Yet, favorable legal policy is no guarantee that these skilled and highly mobile international professionals would choose to stay. Skilled workers are generally able to move in and out of the broad current of immigration flows, without causing the disruptive ripples that generate nation-state/media attention. In fact, it is often assumed that they integrate seamlessly (Favell, Feldblum, and Smith 2007; Freidenberg 2011). More research is needed to identify this population and to understand their motivations, needs, and experiences. Through an in-depth examination of life courses, the study reported on here seeks to acquire better knowledge of this population in order to determine whether their stays might be permanent or transitory and to inform appropriate policymaking.

This analysis aims to know and discuss the framing structure made by media Kompas and Viva in reporting the employment of Chinese foreign workers in the KCJB project, which had made the community stormy because the Government chose to use foreign workers instead of local workers. The type of research used is qualitative research with Pan and Kosicki's framing analysis approach due to their explanation of framing, which is the process of making messages or information more prominent and making readers more focused on the message conveyed. The results of this study indicate that in terms of the syntactic structure, Kompas and Viva try to be neutral by using direct quotations in their titles and only conveying the facts. Thematically, Kompas and Viva provide good factual information because both media convey the existing facts as a unity without reducing or changing the facts obtained from the sources. Judging from the delivery of information, Kompas and Viva seem only to convey what it is without adding opinions or cutting facts. Rhetorically, both of them do not give emphasis and only convey facts obtained from the source. And even though they both lack the completeness of the 5W + 1H elements in some of their articles, they do not affect the core of the news delivered. Abstract:
Problem statement. The problem of using foreign words is still relevant for the last decades due to a wide-spread “invasion” of Anglicisms and Americanisms. The article presents the analysis of foreign words that are widely used in modern press but not considered as a part of the Russian language system. Lexical items recoded into Russian from a foreign language are determined as a specific object of study. Results. More than 5000 examples of using the word «art» in modern Russian newspapers have been revealed during the research. A complex quantitative and qualitative analysis in regards to graphics, semantics, syntactics and stylistics has been provided. Some features of recoded words assimilation at graphic, morphologic, syntactiс and semantic levels are presented. Some peculiarities of graphic representation of foreign words depending on the language source are noticed. It has been found that recoded words receive some characteristics not given in their language source even before they enter a system of the recipient language. Conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that formal recoding of the significant is only an initial stage of foreign words assimilation. The recoded lexical items go through the process of language acquisition not only at graphic but also morphologic and syntactic levels as well as they undergo some semantic changes. Thus the words in focus represent potential reserves that can become parts of modern Russian language.

Abstract:
Abstract The concept of ‘sharp power’ has recently emerged as a reaction to the assertiveness of authoritarian regimes. It serves to underline the complexity of challenges which are posed by authoritarian regimes, referring to diverse front lines in the overall ‘battle’, be they culture, education, or the media. The latter, according to Dmitri Trenin, “has become such a crowded battlefield”. This paper attempts to fill in the information gap regarding Russia’s ‘sharp power’ manifestations in Lithuania’s mass media and focuses on NATO related messages in particular. The paper presupposes that messages which evoke an air of support for Russia’s foreign and security policy tend to pass through to Lithuania’s mass media, and argues that, as a result of the insufficient activity by Lithuania’s mass media in terms of forming an independent perception of Russia vis-à-vis NATO, the preconditions for possible manifestations of Russia’s use of sharp power are therefore created. The article is organised into four parts. The first section sets out a theoretical framework for the analysis which focuses on the concept of sharp power. Then the research methodology is outlined. The third section presents features of the informational environment of Lithuania in 2016 and 2019. The final, and most elaborated, section investigates messages which apparently serve to support Russia’s foreign and security policy in terms of the NATO‘s topic in Lithuania’s mass media based on the aforementioned criteria.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the most commonly used foreign-language lexical items in the language of modern Ukrainian mass media. The objective of the article is to study the thematic direction of foreign-language lexical items, to determine their stylistic role, as well as to indicate the instability of spelling of certain borrowings. The descriptive method and method of observation are used as the main ones in the scientific research for the study of lexical items in the language of Ukrainian periodicals of the beginning of the XXI century. At different stages of the research, the method of functional analysis was used to determine the stylistic meaning of lexical items. The foreign-language words are an integral part of Ukrainian vocabulary, due to some extralin factors, such as Ukraine’s course towards European integration, the process of globalization, economy restructuring, orientation towards the countries of the West, that have caused the close cultural, political, and social and economic cooperation of the Ukrainians with other nations. As the language of modern mass media shows, the borrowings get into various scopes of society: economic, social and political, scientific, cultural, educational, communication, everyday life etc. Due to the active borrowing of foreign-language lexical items, we can have a threatening linguistic situation: functioning of doublets in the language, increasing the number of unwanted homonyms, borrowing of proper names without translation, borrowing of words that aim at imitating something different. The borrowings in the Ukrainian language have often different spelling, which proves the instability of spelling and requires further scientific researches.
