Abstract:
This study investigates the views of students at the University of Botswana as to whether or not the current situation in which the languages of ethnic minority groups in Botswana are marginalized or excluded for use in the national media such as television, radio and the Botswana Daily News, should continue or not. The study answered the following research questions: 1. What national television and radio stations exist in Botswana? 2. What programmes do these television and radio stations broadcast and with which languages? 3. Is the current situation of broadcasting with regard to the languages used for broadcasting fair, and, if not, what can be done to remedy the situation? It also addressed the following objectives:1. To identify the national television and radio stations which exist in Botswana? 2. To identify the programmes that the existing national television and radio stations broadcast and the languages used to broadcast those programmes. 3. To find out if the current system of broadcasting is fair in terms of the languages used and if it is not, to suggest some measures that can be taken to remedy the situation. The study used qualitative methods. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. A sample of seven (7) students responded to the questionnaire. Three (3) or 43% said the current situation should continue while four (4) or 57% said it should be changed. The conclusion was that the current situation which marginalizes minority ethnic groups should be changed.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Curiosity is an important and important quality of human nature, on the basis of which spiritual and material development of human has been possible, whatever difference or development or change we have been feeling in the journey from the beginning to modernity and perhaps will continue . Curious nature has a special place behind them all. This applies to all regions of the world as well as language. If we look at the attention of Hindi literature, then we see many changes in the history of its nearly 2000 years. Language continued to act as a medium of mass communication and continues to the day. But due to technical education, along with language, many such technical tools have been added, due to which the language seems to be paralyzed today. The change of time between 1980 and 2000 shook the smallest world. The effect of which was also certain on India. This effect has also taken the language in its grip. Today, without these tools and tools, language is inanimate. Its development, its spread seems to be stagnant. Today language technicians are using equipment and equipment is taking help of language. The information from these two mails reaches from one corner of the world to the other in a blink of an eye. The era of globalization has complemented these two.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the communication process of modern mass media. Journalism, holding true to its methods of undestanding reality, turns to the postmodern manner of writing. Dialogueness of mass communication is built on different levels. Speech reflects contradictory processes, which occur in our life and are accompanied by changing moral values and spiritual guidelines. Language occurrences in different kinds of mass communication break up the foundations of Russian culture. A new information environment should be created in agreement with the historical traditions and linguistic culture of the society.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the interpretation possibilities of the mass media metaphor. The aim of the work is to identify the semantic spheres that beget a metaphor in the modern language of the Ukrainian mass media. This work demonstrates the mechanism of metaphor production: components of a new meaning, components of metaphorical meaning, and the structure of metaphorical transference. The problems associated with the interpretation of metaphors are considered. The cognitive process of creating the investigated units represents the types of metaphorical transference. The metaphor is designed to simplify the process of perceiving complex new material. In 2000-2020 a new wave of metaphorical productivity was marked by the terms of the natural sciences during the timeframe of the research. As a result of the analysis, the metaphors of the political and economic discourses of the mass media were investigated, taking into account the semantic, cognitive-pragmatic approaches. On the basis of this material, the main trends in the development of the modern language of the Ukrainian mass media are revealed and the interpretative and evaluative potential of the media metaphor is determined.

Abstract:
The current issue of information access for different nations within one state is examined. The media of Quebec, the only francophone province of Canada, give us a clear example. However, Russian scholars almost disregard this domain. Therefore, the research is based on the Canadian works (M. Brunet, A. Beaulieu and J. Hamelin, W.H. Kesterton) in French and in English. The Royal Commission on Newspapers Report (1981), which described two separate media systems (French media and English media), was used as well. The focus is on the Franco-Canadian national problem and its influence on Quebec media historic evolution. This process moves from bilingual editions (two first newspapers were published in French and in English simultaneously) to modern monolingual media system. Through comparative analysis, the relationship between media bilingualism and media monolingualism in Quebec of 18-21st centuries is examined. Quebecs modern information politics can be defined as media regionalism (French language and specific Quebec content). Media regionalisms object is to resist federal doctrine one country - one nation with two languages, the base of Official Language Act (1969). As a result, the absence of traditional federal official media bilingualism in Quebec, which tries to save its national heritage by media regionalism, was discovered.

Abstract:
Abstract Changes in political perceptions and preferences may result from the combined effects of news from various media. Estimating these combined effects requires the best possible, albeit different, measures of news obtained from self-selected mass media and social media that can be linked to panel survey data concerning perceptions and preferences. For the 2017 Dutch national elections, such data is available. Political perceptions and preferences are affected by news statements in self-selected mass media on issue positions, support and criticism, real world conditions and success and failure, in accordance with the theories on agenda setting and issue ownership, social identity, retrospective voting and bandwagon effects, respectively. Combined effects emerge because many people use both mass media and social media. The latter do more than just reinforce predispositions. Social media also have a mere exposure effect, and a multistep flow effect that amplifies news about party successes and failures from self-selected mass media.

Abstract:
The present paper focuses on the role of audio/visual mass media news in language learning. In this regard, the two important issues regarding the selection and preparation of TV news for language learning are the content of the news and the linguistic difficulty. Content is described as whether the news is specialized or universal. Universal contexts are likely to be more comprehensible than specialized contexts. As for the linguistic difficulty, it consists of acoustic, lexical/syntactic and text-type difficulties. Accordingly, audiovisual texts with greater iconic combinations are likely to be more comprehensible for language learning. Moreover, the present paper provides empirical evidence of the role of exposure to news from mass media on speaking fluency.
