Abstract:
IntroductionA morbidity and mortality (M&M) conference is a time-honored educational format in surgery and medicine to review bad patient outcomes and learn from mistakes made. However, despite the value of learning together as peers from difficult cases with unexpected outcomes, most psychiatric departments in the United States do not have an M&M conference. Several years ago, the department of psychiatry at Massachusetts's general hospital in Boston began a monthly M&M conference.ObjectivesDescribe our department's experience with the M&M format as an educational vehicle to t

103 Background: Community health centers’ (CHCs) patients newly diagnosed with cancer often experience barriers to accessing timely treatment. Patient navigation decreases barriers to cancer screening and diagnostic care, but the exact impact on cancer treatment is unclear. We implemented patient navigation to provide underserved patients with support to access and adhere to cancer treatment. The goal of our study is to determine the effect of patient navigation on missed appointment rates, treatment adherence, and health outcomes among an underserved patient population. Abstract:
The Virtual TIA Clinic Protocol was developed as part of the Partners Care Redesign effort to reduce costs and increase quality in the care of patients presenting with symptoms of transient ischemic attack, through risk stratification, triage, and follow-up based on factors including the ABCD2 score. The work presented here is a small N, pilot cross-sectional study which compares actual practice in the MGH ED to what the protocol would suggest, in an effort both to validate the components of the protocol and to better understand further opportunities to create value in the care of this patient
