Abstract:
This study aims to examine the master's theses and doctoral dissertations completed and published in the YÖK Thesis Center database between 2018 and 2025, according to certain criteria. In this context, 68 master's theses and 20 doctoral dissertations related to education and teaching, from French as a Foreign Language (FLE) departments, were subjected to documentary analysis based on data extracted from the national thesis database of YÖK. An evaluation form, developed according to criteria aligned with the objectives of the study, was used for the analysis; the data were examined through content analysis. The results reveal that most of the works were written in 2019, that Marmara University stands out by the high number of theses produced, and that the primary language used is French. Furthermore, it was observed that the master's theses mainly adopt qualitative approaches, while the doctoral dissertations favor mixed methods. Most of the research is conducted with the participation of students; the master's theses mainly focus on the analysis of teaching materials, while the doctoral dissertations prioritize the teaching of translation. Based on the study’s findings, recommendations have been made to contribute to future research in the field of FLE didactics.

Abstract:
The study of academic genres written by students has received considerable attention in ELT research in recent years. However, master's theses haven't garnered as much attention as Ph.D. dissertations have. This study examines the rhetorical structure of master's thesis introductions on ELT and applied linguistics at the Department of English education, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. The analysis of the introductions is based on Swales’s (1990) CARS (Create-A-Research-Space) model. Based on the model, ten thesis introductions were analyzed in terms of the move structures and linguistic features that signal the use of the move. The study indicated that ELT thesis introductions employed all three moves proposed by Swales (1990) in its modified form (Bunton, 2002) at the macro level. Adopting the modified CARS model proposed by Bunton (2002), ELT thesis introductions written by Nepalese students employed six out of sixteen steps. The move structures of master’s thesis introductions were: move 1 (S1, S2 & S3), move 2 (S1 & S2), and move 3 (S1 & S7). This study will aid in the facilitation of academic writing instruction by providing the general framework of a good model of thesis introductory chapters.

However, the same is not true of the performance rate (the number of students completing the thesis over the number of students enrolled on the course), which means that a large number of students do not receive their Master's Degrees. Using results from a survey of final year TFM students and of their course supervisors, this paper seeks to better understand the reasons why students are dropping out before completing their final thesis with a view to taking corrective actions.</span></p>

Abstract:
This article investigates the landscape of forensic chemistry research in Brazil by analyzing 118 master's and doctoral theses and dissertations retrieved from the CAPES Thesis and Dissertation Catalog using the keyword “química forense”. Through text mining and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling, we identified thematic patterns and institutional trends in graduate-level research. Descriptive statistics revealed a concentration of academic production in southeastern Brazil and a predominance of master’s theses. The topic modeling analysis, applied to both unigrams and n-grams, uncovered research clusters focused on analytical instrumentation, electrochemical methods, drug detection, post-blast residue analysis, chemometric tools, and forensic education. Notably, topics such as synthetic drugs and pedagogical applications emerged as distinct and underexplored areas. The results offer a structured overview of the academic development of forensic chemistry in Brazil and highlight the utility of topic modeling as a tool for meta-research and policy planning in science education.

Abstract:
Thesis (MCurr)--Stellenbosch University, 2013.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Background: Research supervision forms an essential part of higher education. The emergence of global trends in the production and dissemination of knowledge is compelling universities and university of technologies in South Africa to become more market-orientated, competitive and entrepreneurial. The supervision process is vital to successful completion of the research component of master’s degrees and consequently increase throughput in higher education. Successful and meaningful supervision contribute largely to mutual satisfaction and professional development between supervisors and students. Good supervision should be an integral component of quality research governance. Objective: The aim of this study was to explore research supervision needs and experiences of the master’s students in nursing. Methodology: A descriptive phenomenological research design was used with a qualitative research approach. A non-probability, purposive sampling method was used to select respondents in this study. The target population includes all nursing science master’s students enrolled at University of Stellenbosch in the past three years (N=109). A sample size of twelve students was included in the study, whereby all twelve face to face interviews were conducted using the semi-structured interview guide. The inclusion criterium for students was that they were all currently registered students who initially enrolled for the Masters in Nursing degree program between 2008 and 2010 in the division of Nursing at Stellenbosch University. Results: Eight themes arose from the interviews. These included: isolation; lack of skills/ time management; family dynamics/personal circumstances; supervisor support; student and supervisor roles and responsibilities; workplace dynamics and support; financial and institutional support and implications; and motivation to complete studies. Conclusions: Successful completion of research undertaken on postgraduate level and supervision at a master’s level depend on a healthy and productive relationship between the supervisor and the student. Exploring and implementing the guidance and suggestions in this paper will assist students in considering supervision preferences. This in turn will result in achieving a good supervisory relationship which is the key to successful master studies.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Agtergrond: Navorsing toesighouding vorm ‘n belangrike deel van hoer onderwys. Abstract:
There are two copies of each core histone in a nucleosome, however, it is unclear whether post-translational modifications on each molecule function redundantly or if symmetrical modifications are required to properly regulate gene expression. We tried to address this question by breaking nucleosomal symmetry and measuring its impact on gene expression. Our strategy includes re-engineering specific residues at the H3-H3 interface, generating pairs of mutant proteins, which were predicted by computational methods to form obligate heterodimers. Using S. cerevisiae as a model system, we tested the viability of strains with mutant histones, and analyzed the interaction between by co-immunoprecipitation from mononucleosome preparations. We also measured the changes of gene expression in the strains bearing single-tailed or tailless H3 heterodimers. The data suggested that the best computationally-derived H3 pair was frequently, but not exclusively heterodimeric in vivo. In order to obtain a more stringent H3 heterodimer, random mutagenesis was performed on four codons in the original computational design, and then genetic screening of the mutant libraries was performed.

Abstract:
The present study applies three distinct theoretically grounded research methodologies to the research phase of a public relations campaign. The researcher examines the distinctions of each method, the strengths and weaknesses of the data generated, and the implications of mass communication theory as it relates to public relations campaigns. Drawing from DeFleur and Ball-Rokeach's (1989) overview of three theoretical approaches to mass mediated persuasion, the study implements research methodologies from the psychodynamic, the sociocultural, and the meaning construction paradigms. The study examines how the assumptions of each approach might influence a practitioner in each stage of campaign construction. The author concludes that the often implicit theoretical assumptions which guide public relations practitioners have a significant impact on every phase of a public relations campaign.

Abstract:
碩士<br>世新大學<br>公共關係暨廣告學研究所(含碩專班)<br>94<br>This research involves four areas: (1) a summary based on the content coding of the research development and trends in Taiwan relating to corporate image; (2) a description from the point of view of applied science to examine the contexts within which the studies on corporate image are generated; (3) an analysis as well as suggestions from the perspective of paradigm modes to point out the theoretical foundations which informed the studies under investigation. Based on content analysis this research offers a meta-exposition of eighty-three doctoral dissertations and master’s theses with topics related to corporate image posted on the Taiwanese on-line database. This research reveals that corporate image studies in Taiwan are conducted mainly by researchers from disciplines related to design and management on topics ranging from corporate identity, patterns of consumer satisfaction, and the visual logos of enterprises. In terms of paradigms there is an emphasis on quantitative and variable studies. There appears to be a shortage of researches using qualitative and holistic approaches. This paper concludes with a proposal calling for researches to be done from the perspectives of public relations and through the use of other methodologies.

"SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIES IN BASIC EDUCATION: USE OF WASTE COOKING OIL IN BIOFUEL PRODUCTION AS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY TOOL TO PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS." In Second Southern Science Conference - 2024. Araucária - Associação Científica, 2024. https://doi.org/10.48141/sscon_08_2024.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
This work aims to report on the transformation of waste cooking oil into biodiesel, soap, and bioplastic, which can enable the insertion of science themes from the National Curricular Base content in a transversal and interdisciplinary manner for students and teachers in basic education. In this context, through students and teachers of the Professional Master's in Environmental Sciences at Univassouras, teachers were trained to work practically with Chemistry contents as recommended by the National Curricular Guidelines and Parameters. The professional training was supported by didactic material (follow-up module) and enabled the adoption of practical classes with process innovation where recycling artifacts and equipment, called alternative materials, were developed. Discarded toy car motors were used as an agitation system for the waste oil, and PET bottles were used as decanters for separating glycerin and biofuel, pieces of PVC pipes and wood for supports, and household stoves and burners as heating systems. The results are being evaluated and inserted into a follow-up report and will be part of dissertations by Master's students.

In Tenth Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning. Commonwealth of Learning, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.56059/pcf10.425.

Full text
Abstract:
Most students in the Master’s in Education- Educational Leadership (MEdEL) at a medium sized Open and distance e-learning institution have successfully completed their programme within the stipulated five years with the average being two to three years. It is postulated that this could be because the supervision of their research is anchored on the philosophy of ubuntu which is an indigenous education philosophy that is gaining traction among African scholars. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the philosophy of ubuntu guides MEdEL students and supervisors in developing the research dissertation. The research objectives were; an analysis the extent to which MEdEL students and supervisors are aware of Ubuntu as an educational philosophy, the extent to which MEdEL research supervisors adhere to the guiding principles of ubuntu when they supervise student dissertations and, recommendations on how ubuntu principles can be incorporated in the research supervision of graduate students in an Open and Distance electronic Learning (ODeL) environment. A mixed methods approach was used in the design, collection and analysis of data using an online questionnaire for students and supervisees, face to face and written interviews of supervisors, and the analysis of literature and key documents associated with the supervision of dissertations. Key data sources included graduate and current students of the MEdEL; research supervisors and literature on ubuntu as an educational philosophy.
