Abstract:
This thesis investigates the narrative models in Dante's Commedia with the aim of opening up the poem to alternatives to the dominant narrative embedded in the text, which it terms Dante's masterplot. This is the teleological trajectory which allows the poet to subjugate earlier works or earlier parts of the poem to the revisionist gaze of its endpoint. The thesis analyses the masterplot's workings in the text and its role in the interpretation of the poem, and documents its overwhelming success in influencing readings of the Commedia. It then explores three competing narrative models that resist and counter its monopoly, which are enacted by (i) paradoxes, (ii) alternative endings and parallel lives; and (iii) the future. Paradoxes are used to neutralise the teleological hierarchy and thus allow Dante to represent contradictory ideas and experiences in the temporal medium of language. Through counterfactuals and twin episodes, Dante establishes in his poem a number of storylines that detour from and run parallel to the main narrative; this allows him to make room for an affective space within the text, which suspends narrative necessity and moral normativity. The future tense poses a problem case for the masterplot in that it indefinitely postpones the endpoint on which teleology relies, and thus exposes the poem, and its author's, vulnerability to time and circumstance. By focusing on non-linear modes of storytelling, the thesis questions interpretations of the Commedia that favour one normative master-truth, and highlights instead the manifold poetic, theological and ethical tensions which, due to the masterplot's influence, are often overlooked. The thesis concludes with a proposal that, alongside the traditional notions of Dante's characteristic plurality of linguistic registers and styles, Dante's narrative pluralism can and should come to play a key role in contemporary and future readings of the Commedia.

Abstract:
During the summer of 2013, fierce protests broke out against a test-mining operation in Gállok (Kallak) outside Jokkmokk, Sweden. Environmental activists joined with local indigenous Sámi in the protest. The incident made national and international headlines, resonating with other instances of conflict between mining companies and indigenous peoples around the world. This thesis aims to explore political discourses and historical narratives behind those, and other, protests and tensions in relation to mining between, on the one hand, the Swedish state which express – through various institutions – to be a proud 'mining nation' with a firm environmental legislation, and, on the other, indigenous Sámi in the Swedish north. Using discourse analysis in combination with a novel application of concepts from narrative theory (the concept of masterplots), the narratives and ideologies of the national institutions responsible for decision-making in mining affairs in Sweden – the government, the parliament, and the Mining Inspectorate – are investigated by analyzing various written and verbal sources. The investigation show a coherent trend within the institutions in making the Sámi people, their rights to land and water, and Sweden's colonial history towards them and their land, Sápmi, invisible, misunderstood, and/or belittled. Mining is understood as an evidently vital and typically Swedish industry, fundamental for the rise of Sweden as a modern welfare state, and an industry which 'makes the world better' by providing the necessary raw materials for the (assumed) inevitable progress and benefit of (western) technology and (western) civilization. The exclusion of certain histories allow for a hegemony in which a certain future is naturalized, made out to be unavoidable. Furthermore, the plot structures employed to create and sustain the hegemony draw on several colonial masterplots. The conclusion of this thesis is that the hegemonic discourse sustains a colonial attitude towards Sápmi and the Sámi people, without it ever being expressed nor understood as such.

Det här examensprojektet har utförts på Volvo CE, Hauler & Loader Division, Arvika. Projektet ingick som ett avslutande moment i maskiningenjörsprogrammet vid

Karlstads universitet. Volvo i Arvika tillverkar hjullastare vilket man har gjort sedan mitten av 60-talet. Fabriken har idag ca 1150 anställda som tillsammans levererar över 6000 hjullastare per år.

Produktionsvolymen i Arvikafabriken ökar allt mer vilket medför att ett behov av många investeringar för att klara denna volymtillväxt har uppstått. Den huvudsakliga tillverkningen på svetsavdelningen består av fram- och bakramstillverkning. Problemet är att tillverkningen är trångbodd och att vissa ramflöden är i behov av förbättring.

Projektets uppgift bestod av att undersöka möjligheter och konsekvenser av att installera två nya svetsrobotar i befintlig byggnad och på sikt skapa en separat framram resp. bakramsverkstad. Arbetets huvudmål är att få höjd kapacitet i svetstillverkningen av ramar.

Resultatet av projektet visar att möjlighet finns att installera två nya svetsrobotar i de befintliga lokalerna, en robot för framramsvetsning samt en för bakramsvetsning. Ramtillverkningen är separerad med en verkstad för framramar i byggnad 1 samt en verkstad för bakramar i byggnad 2. (se bilaga 8, 50 och 51).

Flera flöden har förbättrats genom att arbetsstationer har flyttats vilket i sin tur har inneburit mindre transportbehov i verkstaden. Uppdelningen av tillverkningen av fram- och bakramar har lett till ett tydligare flöde. De nya flödena syns i produktionsscheman och layoutflödesscheman (bilaga 52-69).

Kostnaden för att genomföra projektet uppskattas till omkring 26 milj. kr.

Ett ytterligare koncept, ”koncept 2”, har utretts som innehåller en större utbyggnad av bakramsverkstaden för att klara en större expansion av tillverkningen. Det kommer att kosta ca 38 milj. kr.


This master’s thesis was performed at Volvo CE, Hauler & Loader Division, Arvika. The project was a part of the Mechanical engineering program at the University of Karlstad. Volvo in Arvika is manufacturing wheelloaders and has done that since back in the sixties. Today they are about 1150 employees who together deliver over 6000 loaders a year.

The production volume at the Arvika-plant is increasing and therefore there is a need for new investments in the plant. At the plant’s welding department the main manufacturing is the welding of front- and rear frames. The problem is that the manufacturing is cabined and some of the frame flows is in need of improvement.

The task of the project was to examine the possibilities and identify the consequences of installing two new welding robots in the existing building and create separate front and rear frame workshops. The main reason for that is to reach a higher capacity in the manufacturing of frames.

The result of the project shows that there are possibilities to install two new welding robots in the existing building, one for front frame welding and one for rear frame welding. The frame manufacturing has been separated with a workshop for front frames in building 1 and a workshop for rear frames in building 2 (see appendices 8, 50 and 51).

Several flows has been improved due to workstations have been moved resulting in less need of transports in the workshop. The separation of front and rear frame manufacturing causes the flow of frames to be more clear and visible. The new flows are shown in production diagrams and layout-flow diagrams (see appendices 52-69).

The cost for going through with the project is estimated to around 26 million sek.

An additional concept, “concept 2”, has been investigated which contains an extended workshop for rear frames to manage a larger expansion of the production. It will cost around 38 million sek.

I denne masteroppgaven har jeg gjennomført en empirisk forskningsundersøkelse i Statoil. Gjennom intervjuer, observasjoner og gjennomgang av Masterplanens intranett, har jeg fått et inntrykk av hvilke praktiske tiltak Statoil har gjort innen Knowledge Management og hvilke av tiltakene som fungerer i praksis. Undersøkelsen har vært todelt der jeg både har tatt for meg Statoil på konsernnivå og et program internt i Statoil, O&S Masterplan. Hovedfokuset i denne masteroppgaven har vært å komme med anbefalinger om tiltak for å lykkes med Knowledge Management når det gjelder overføring av taus kompetanse. Det gjelder enten overføring fra taus til taus eller taus til eksplisitt kompetanse. Det er tre aspekter som står sentralt: - Tilrettelegging (Kultur, fokus, åpent kontorlandskap, motivering, kommunikasjon, prosjektsammensetning - dette handler om å legge til rette for relasjonsbygging og uformelle nettverk) - Konkrete aktiviteter for overføring av taus kompetanse (Workshops, formelle nettverk, kurs, QA-plan-aktiviteter) - Tiltak for egenutvikling av kompetanse (Læring/on-the-job, individuelle lærings- og kompetansemål) Anbefalingene som er fremstilt i denne rapporten er knyttet til hvordan Statoil kan forbedre planlegging, ekstern anskaffelse, utvikling og utnyttelse av kompetanse, noe som må tilpasses individuelt til bedriften. Anbefalingene er presentert i tre kategorier, der den ene i utgangspunktet skulle inneholde hva jeg mener Statoil bør slutte med. I mitt arbeid har jeg ikke funnet noen konkrete saker jeg synes de bør avslutte. Jeg har derimot funnet flere tiltak som bør endres og forbedres. Jeg har derfor valgt å endre ordlyden til denne kategorien. De tre kategoriene representerer dermed anbefalinger om hva jeg mener Statoil/Masterplanen bør fortsette med, endre/forbedre og iverksette. De største utfordringene Statoil står ovenfor innen Knowledge Management innebærer å få frem en klarere, enhetlig og mer entydig fokus på dette området, i tillegg til å skape en kultur blant de ansatte som bidrar til å gjøre dette enklere. En fremtidig utfordring ligger dessuten i å få til en tilrettelegging og oppfølging ved innføring av nye aktiviteter og rutiner for å skape en størst mulig forbedring.

Urban planning in Sweden goes back to a prolonged tradition, and even since the beginning of the 16th century there´s been general plans for urban planning for cities in Sweden. Nowadays every municipality has a directive from the government to establish or re-new the general master plan covering the whole municipality every 4th year. The aim of this paper is to illustrate and shed light on the extent for the planning document and guidelines, and how they change from every active period and in what extent the provisional planning reaches its visions regarding the outcome of the actual city growth. This study was completed by studying the position of every apartment building that’s been constructed for the chosen area over the years of 2000 - 2014 and draw comparisons between the current master plan main visions regarding constructions – and comparing the two separate visions to pin out the differences in the same subject. The result shows that there are some deviations from the plans but not as much as one would have thought in the city growth, and some deviations from the different planning documents. Some of the deviations was greater than others but overall the visions was about the same.

This creative project is the exploration of a healing garden for Afghan women who have been victims of war and terror. The project culminates with a masterplan and design for a healing garden in the rural village of Qala-e-Malakh in the Behsood District of the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. This issue became a viable project when I was put into contact with Lalbibi (Bibi) Bahrami, an Afghan woman living in Yorktown, Indiana, and native of Qala-e-Malakh. She has worked tirelessly to create and raise funds for her organization, Afghan Women's And Kids' Education and Necessities (AWAKEN), which provides education, basic healthcare, and vocational training to women and children in several rural villages. It is my intent to determine how a designed space, incorporating elements of native culture, emotional treatment standards, and therapeutic garden research, can help heal and renew the spirits of women who have experienced such extreme tragedy and devastation.

Abstract:
La prioridad en los usos de suelo en pequeñas localidades del sur de Chile puede generar fuertes contradicciones entre el estado legal de una propiedad y el uso cotidiano de la misma. Tal es el caso del pueblo de Lago Ranco, cuyo origen estuvo ligado directamente al sistema ferroviario que comunicaba los recursos naturales en los interiores del lago con una estación de almacenamiento para su distribución hacia las grandes ciudades del norte del país. Cuando la estación fue clausurada en los 80s, todo el sistema ,y su territorio, fueron abandonados. En estas circunstancias, y al no contar con ningún tipo de delimitación entre lo público y lo privado, todo el lugar fue asimilado como una área abierta y libre, la cual tomo un fuerte protagonismo en las últimas tres décadas como hito principal del pueblo y soporte de sus actividades cívicas y turísticas. Con la quiebra de Ferrocarriles del Estado, que era dueña de buena parte de la unidad territorial del sistema ferroviario, toda su parte fue puesta a la venta. Infelizmente no pudo ser adquirida por el municipio, encontrándose a la fecha en manos de un privado. De este modo, lo que por décadas se constituyó como lugar por el uso de la comunidad, ahora se encuentra fragmentado y en la perspectiva de que un proyecto insensible a esta realidad termine por eliminar el valor histórico, espacial y cultural de este verdadero centro histórico del pueblo. Para enfrentar esta situación, el siguiente proyecto de titulo se basa en el desarrollo de un masterplan para todo el territorio del ex sistema ferroviario, que contempla la generación de un proyecto turístico rentable en la zona privada y una consolidación y renovación de la zona pública. Ambas partes se vinculan programática y espacialmente en un círculo virtuoso mediante el cual, a través de una mínima concesión territorial por parte de del la zona privada, esta logra elevar el potencial de su rentabilidad privada. El dialogo de las formas a través del lenguaje arquitectónico colabora a configurar un proyecto que, si bien tiene una clara división entre lo público y lo privado, logra integrarse como una totalidad que hace eco de los valores congénitos y venta. Infelizmente no pudo ser adquirida por el municipio, encontrándose a la fecha en manos de esto no se ve adquiridos por el lugar a través de los años.

Over the past decade, the demand for student housing in the Hatfield Student Village, situated between the Hatfield and Hillcrest campuses of the University of Pretoria, has grown to a point, where the demand greatly overshadows the supply. Local developers, who recognised the need for housing among students, have made great progress in filling this gap. It has come to a point, where the University of Pretoria has the second largest supply of student housing in South Africa, after the University of Cape Town. This study has sought to determine whether there is still development potential for student housing in the Hatfield area, and also to develop a 10-year masterplan for the future development of accommodation in the Hatfield and Hillcrest areas. Prominent development companies in the student-housing industry were contacted; and interviews were conducted with 8 high-ranking individuals in 8 different companies. The interviews determined the developers’ appetites for the further development of student accommodation in an area, which is already highly competitive. Interviews were also conducted with various role-players in Hatfield, such as the CEO of Hatfield CID, as well as prominent Estate Agents working in the area. Further data were collected on the various occupancy levels in the existing student accommodation, in order to determine the need for future development. The results showed that developers have developed the area to supply about 11 315 beds to the market. With 4 178 beds in line to enter the market within the next 5 to 10 years, the supply will be much larger than the demand. Opportunity must be given to the economy to recover; and thereafter, further development of student accommodation must concentrate on providing units for low-income students. A 10-year masterplan, divided into short-, medium- and long-term time periods, provides a potential road-map to follow, for the future of student accommodation in the Hatfield Student Village. The plan elaborates on future development and the type of development, which would ensure a successful student community for the University of Pretoria.

Acting within the context of multiple constraints (site, budget, brief, clients, users, public policy and regulation), the urban designer is required to respond to various and sometimes conflicting interests in “ ... the symbolic attempt to express urban meaning in certain urban forms.” (Castells, 1983). In this complex situation some design decisions are determined by the inherited context. However, when a decision cannot be determined this way the designer must make a judgement. These may be made arbitrarily, but it is more likely that the individual uses, for example, experience, education, episodic knowledge, currently accepted paradigms of the field, or theories in urban design to form the bases of judgements, and subscription to them may be explicit or implicit. The research question this thesis addresses is: ‘In which ways might theory be used in the individual design process of urban design?’ Its aim is to explore ways in which theories in urban design influence the process of urban design and the extent to which they may inform design decisions in addition to the other constraints which a designer must consider. The objectives are: to review literature about the relationship between theory and design; to examine the role of theory in the individual creative process of urban design; and to reflect on the process of design in order to conclude how it was informed by theory. A review of literature about the design process and urban design theory considers the current state of knowledge. This provides the context for the investigation. An appraisal of research by design methodologies identifies an approach based upon Donald Schön’s ‘The Reflective Practitioner’ (1983) as a suitable means to address the aims of this research: This is executed through the generation of an urban design and accompanying commentary which records the design activity, followed by an analysis of and reflection on the design and commentary offering insights into the use of theory within the process. Since the research did not require a specific location for the design, a number of alternatives were considered. Croydon (in Greater London) was selected as a place with sufficient scope for an urban design intervention due to the current proposals being pursued by the local authority and the opportunities for redevelopment. The design process is in three sequential parts: a socio-economic, cultural and physical site evaluation; a development framework which is primarily two-dimensional and textual; and a masterplan which is a predominantly three-dimensional, short to medium term spatial possibility for part of the framework area. The commentary that accompanies the design process details each step in the process to build an evidence base of design activity. This describes the actions undertaken and the reasons for those actions. Each entry is then analysed retrospectively according to four categories determined by the interests of the research aim: the type of design activity; the type of influence acting upon it; whether this influence is explicit or implicit; and, where theory appears to have been an influence, what type of theory. Reflection on the urban design, commentary and analysis appears to indicate that theory’s influence in the creative process of urban design is distinctive, although it is subservient to a variety of other influences. Apparently, the more conceptual and strategic the stage of design, the more extensive and explicit theory’s influence is. It appears that in a conscious manner, a theory’s principles can be employed directly or interpreted in a new scenario. Conversely, the more spatial and detailed the stage of design, the more tacit and fragmented theory’s involvement appears to be. It is often implicit, embedded within the guiding principles that the individual designer exercises when generating and evaluating ideas, evidenced in the thought processes and decisions that are made. While these findings are specific to an individual and the way that individual designs and evaluates the design process, they do confirm the use of theory in the urban design process and may act as indicators of trends in the relationship between theory and practice in urban design.

Abstract:
Dans une époque actuelle où l’urbanisme de planification est considéré comme inadapté et insuffisant, a fortiori dans un contexte chinois critiqué pour sa production urbaine répétitive et accélérée, le sujet de recherche propose paradoxalement de replacer le plan au cœur du processus de création et de réalisation des projets de grandes échelles et de lui accorder un rôle clé pour la production de solutions environnementales. Le plan se dessine comme élément de référence de la fabrication urbaine chinoise, articulant le territoire et le projet dans un espace de représentation dont les usages graphiques sont significatifs. Au sein de cet espace, il s’agit de comprendre comment les objectifs environnementaux sont planifiés, mis en valeur, puis appliqués de façon concrète lors de la réalisation des projets. Dans cette optique, le plan se fait outil médiateur entre le territoire existant, le projet et la réalisation, et ne se limite pas à être uniquement un document fonctionnel ou de représentation, mais un outil de travail indispensable à la production d’idées.Dans ce contexte, la thèse de doctorat propose d’étudier le cas d’une ville originale, Xiamen, où la politique d’urbanisation durable à la particularité d’avoir été réalisée dès le début des années 1990. En effet, une production de plans très riches, de plus en plus participatifs, numériques et adaptés au contexte existant, a permis d’engager les potentiels du territoire dans une réflexion d’intervention durable. A travers l’analyse de plans et terrains réalisés sur une vingtaine de sites, la recherche vise à comprendre comment Xiamen est devenue un vaste laboratoire d’expérimentations où se formulent de nouvelles approches, pratiques et outils de planifications environnementales
The doctoral research investigates how the current Chinese planning approaches can provide new tracks of environmental strategies, with effective planning solutions adapted to the speed and scale of its urbanization.In this perspective, the research intends to analyze the case study of Xiamen City in the Fujian’s Province of China, whose city planning achieved to balance economic and urban growth, meanwhile winning numerous international awards and green labels for its urban living quality. Since 1997, Xiamen is considered as a pioneer in successful environmental planning in China, with smart development strategies represented within an original Master Plan Design.The hypothesis of the study is to consider the key role of Master Plans in the city’s environmental choices and realizations. In one hand, plans are used as a central tool for creativity, using graphic codes and design strategies in order to innovate city concepts. In another hand, plans are no longer designed for only functional or communication purposes, but are also mediator documents between the different actors and protocols of the project, assuring the link between the concept and the built reality. From this point of view, we explore how Xiamen used the Master plan as a planning tool to engage the city development into environmental strategies which have been successfully realized. The research focuses on three axes of analysis: historical heritages and modern evolution of urban representations in China; innovations in urban design techniques using new codes, tools, or technologies; and assessment of construction sites in accordance with the project plan

The theme of my diploma thesis is the elaboration of the Territorial Study of the South Development Area of the City of Brno. It is a very displaced area, in the Brno-South district around the villages of Dolní Heršpice and Přízřenice. It is therefore separated from the city center by the D1 motorway and circumscribed in the east and west by the high-speed communications - Vídeňská Street and D2 motorway. There are two historical villages inside the assigned area, which are today formally part of Brno - Dolní Heršpice and Přízřenice. There are also several industrial sites, both used and unused. All these are in the eastern part of the territory between Havránková / Zelná / Modřická street and river Svratka. The vast majority of the area consists of used agricultural land. The embossment is very flat, the overall elevation between the lowest and the highest point is 16 meters, while the distance of these points is almost 2.5 km. In the northern part, the Leskava stream forms a shallow valley. The aim of the proposal was to investigate the possible capacity of this territory for the new predominantly residential district of the city if the need to create new housing capacities in the southern part of the city would arise in the near future.

A pesquisa faz um levantamento dos sistemas de iluminação urbana e de fachadas atualmente instalados ao longo dos calçadões do Centro histórico de São Paulo, também chamado de Triângulo, qualificando-os segundo suas influências no modo como o pedestre entende o entorno e reconhece seus elementos, assim como o seu potencial convidativo em relação à utilização do espaço. A partir destes dados e discutindo o potencial que a luz possui para redefinir as referências espaciais na paisagem da cidade e influenciar o modo como o observador entende a arquitetura, o trabalho apresenta um conjunto de estratégias relacionadas a um plano diretor de iluminação urbana para o Triângulo, capaz de promover a melhoria do espaço urbano no período noturno e auxiliar o resgate da memória paulistana, explorando o uso do local e valorizando seus monumentos arquitetônicos.
This paper analyses the urban lighting system in addition to façade and street lighting installed on the streets of the historic downtown São Paulo, area also known as Triangle. It also verifies the lighting elements, considering the environment as well as its inviting potential in relation to its use. Based on the aspects of how lighting can improve overall appearance of a city or region, how it can redefine references of its landscape and influence the way a pedestrian perceives his/her surroundings some strategies of an urban lighting master plan will be shown as a way to improve the public space of the Triangle at night and preserve its historical landmarks driving more people to the premises and emphasizing its heritage.

A partire dallo studio del masterplan di progetto urbano dello studio Mbm di Bohigas, per la riqualificazione del quadrante Nord-Ovest della città di Parma, viene formulata una proposta alternativa con l'approfondimento di un lotto adiacente al Torrente Parma. Si sviluppa il progetto di un edificio polifunzionale a contatto con il parco urbano e con il parco fluviale, di una piazza e di una passerella ciclopedonale che congiunge le sponde del torrente Parma. la progettazione segue i temi della sostenibilità e del risparmio energetico con l'impiego di sistemi solari, facciata ventilata, sistemi geoterici e fitodepurazione. Si approfondiscono temi quali i sistemi di controllo dell' edificio e la domotica, volti al risparmio energetico, di gestione e alla sicurezza. Le conclusioni volgono lo sguardo alla situazione del mercato nazionale e europeo in termini di valutazione del valore dell'immobile e della sua commerciabilità.

La tesi “Convivere con l’acqua” si prefigge lo scopo di indagare il rapporto dell’architettura contemporanea con eventi gli calamitosi legati al rischio idrogeologico di tipo alluvionale, proponendo una metodologia progettuale che cerca di instaurare una relazione di coesistenza con l’elemento naturale dell’acqua. La ricerca assume come caso studio il Polesine, territorio caratterizzato dalla presenza di due dei grandi fiumi italiani (Po ed Adige), dalla presenza di una fitta rete di canali di bonifica e dalla vicinanza al delta del Po e ai paesaggi lagunari. Il Polesine è inteso come parte integrante del sistema più ampio della Pianura Padana nella quale il processo alluvionale può considerarsi generatore di un intero territorio. Dopo un’analisi approfondita della regione, del sistema urbano diffuso, dell’architettura rurale e della villa come tipologia architettonica, e a partire dallo studio di alcuni riferimenti dell’architettura contemporanea, la proposta di masterplan propone la riqualificazione della rete ecologica dell’intero Polesine e verte su un sistema territoriale costituito da 10 grandi corti e 31 torri sparse in territorio polesano. Le corti si collocano in prossimità di aree dove si intersecano agglomerati urbani, rete ecologica e zone a ristagno idrico; Le torri sono invece dislocate sull’alveo dei canali di bonifica artificiali, in aperta campagna. il progetto architettonico verte all’approfondimento di una corte ed una torre che accolgono funzioni diverse quali granai e stalle, laboratori didattici, residenze e luoghi di controllo e monitoraggio del territorio in condizioni di normalità, mentre costituiscono luoghi di riparo in situazione di emergenza catastrofe.

Riverside Park located in downtown Kamloops began developing as Citys’ premiere park in the early 1900’s. At this time there was an emphasis on programming for sport. Through the years the Park’s focus has shifted from sport to a gathering space for community events and celebrations.This transition, however, has occurred in the absence of an overarching vision for Riverside Park as a vital cultural space for Kamloops’ citizens. As a result, the Park lacks cohesiveness not only within its boundaries, but also with regard to the adjacent river system and downtown area. Riverside Park, therefore, fails to meet its full potential as the premiere park for the City of Kamloops. By addressing three important issues of connectivity: 1) within Riverside Park itself, 2) between Riverside Park and the Thompson Rivers, and 3) between Riverside Park and downtown Kamloops, this design proposal consists of a masterplan concept for Riverside Park which explores how this urban park can benefit from strengthened connections between the natural river system, park and urban fabric.

A escolha do tema decorre do trabalho desenvolvido ao longo de um ano lectivo, no âmbito da disciplina de Projecto III, sobre o Masterplan da Calçada da Ajuda. Como tal, o objectivo é tratar resíduos da “Terceira Paisagem”, entendidos como espaços sem utilização, sem condições favoráveis de permanência ou habitabilidade, que não só dependem da restauração e recuperação de condições físicas, mas também de uma relação mais humana e altruísta para com a comunidade e o território. Desta forma pretende-se reactivar alguns destes espaços, para que se integrem urbanísticamente na freguesia e simultaneamente se relacionem entre si, criando e recuperando motivações, hábitos e costumes, por vezes perdidos, para que o usufruto destes lugares contribua também para prolongar a sua vida útil e integrada no eixo da Calçada da Ajuda. Após o levantamento do território, reconhecem-se situações concretas de desagregação urbana decorrentes do impacto construtivo de várias épocas e gerações, resultando na alteração das dinâmicas culturais e sociais e da humanização dos espaços. Através de espaços estudados ao longo do eixo da calçada, pretende-se construir uma estratégia de atravessamento (para o eixo da calçada) e de planeamento de vários subsistemas (de transportes, serviços, da circulação pedonal e viária, de espaços de lazer, …) para que haja uma maior ligação e atenção entre os usuários e o próprio espaço. Procura-se estudar uma nova urbanidade de modo a alcançar uma realidade que conjuga as existências e preserva o passado, adquirindo novos conceitos e valores urbanos contemporâneos que se integram na cidade intemporalmente.
The choice of this theme is the result of the work developed during a school year, under the discipline of Project III, focused on the Masterplan of the Calçada da Ajuda. As such, the aim is to adress "Third Landscape" wastes, understood as unused spaces, without favorable conditions of permanence or habitability. It depends not only on the restoration and recovery of physical conditions, but also on a more human and altruistic relationship for the community and its territory. In this way, it is intended to reactivate some of these spaces, so that they may integrate themselves urbanistically speaking and simultaneously relate to each other, creating and recovering motivations, habits and customs sometimes lost. The usufruct of these places also contributes to prolong their useful life and integrated in the axis of the Calçada da Ajuda. After the territory´s survey, concrete situations of urban disintegration are recognized as a result of the constructive impact of several epochs and generations, resulting in the alteration of cultural and social dynamics and the humanization of spaces. Through spaces studied along the axis of the sidewalk, we intend to build a strategy of crossing (to the axis of the sidewalk) and planning of various subsystems (transport, services, pedestrian and road circulation, leisure spaces, ... ) so that there is a greater connection and attention between the users and the space itself. It seeks to study a new urbanity in order to achieve a reality that combines existences and preserves the past, acquiring new concepts and contemporary urban values that integrate in the city in a timeless manner.

The present study appeared from the need to prepare a set of documents and tools that primarily generate guidelines for Forest Management Plans and Agricultural Management Plans of Tapada da Ajuda, but also considers the need for Action Plans and Plans of Space Usage for the Gardens in Tapada da Ajuda, with respect to routes, systems views, areas with higher load capacity / sensitivity. In the first chapter, is a general framework of the different classifications that it’s possible to find in Tapada da Ajuda. The second chapter is a brief framework of Tapada da Ajuda, such as: location, historical events, the most relevant to the present work and the current situation of Tapada. It also presents the framework of territorial management instruments that influence Tapada da Ajuda’s precinct. In Chapter III, it is presented studies of cases of masterplans and / or management plans, situations somehow similar to Tapada da Ajuda. Chapter IV, is the section which presents the objectives, methodology, diagnosis of Tapada da Ajuda according to the proposed themes. Finally, in the fifth chapter, it is proposed an operative zoning, an action plan, an action implementation program and an intervention program plan for the gardens of the Tapada da Ajuda

Hintergrund und Ziel: Der Mehrwert eines neuen Konzepts für die Seminare mit klinischem Bezug im Fach Anatomie im Vergleich zu dem der Vorjahre wurde ermittelt. Im Wesentlichen ging es um die Frage, wie es am besten möglich ist, eine Brücke zwischen dem vorklinischen und dem klinischen Teil der humanmedizinischen Ausbildung zu schlagen. Hintergrund sind die zentralen Vorgaben klinik-orientiert zu unterrichten, insbesondere hinsichtlich des Masterplans Medizinstudium 2020. Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse sollen dazu beitragen, klinische Bezüge in der anatomischen Lehre curricular zu verankern. Methode: Teilnehmer der Studie waren insgesamt 316 Studierende aus der Ziel- (2016/2017) und 307 Studierende aus der Vergleichsgruppe (2011/2013/2015) Humanmedizin im 4. Semester. Die Studie bestand aus drei Etappen: 1. Erarbeitung des Konzepts und geeigneter Fragebögen. 2. Papierbasierte Datenerhebung in den Sommersemestern 2016 und 2017. 3. Vergleich von Ziel- und Kontrollgruppe mit geeigneten statistischen Verfahren. Ergebnisse: Qualitätskriterien wie Nutzen der klinischen Beispiele, Klarheit und Gliederung des Lehrstoffes sowie praktische Arbeit wurden in der Zielgruppe besser bewertet. Insgesamt fiel die Benotung noch besser bei den Studierenden aus, die bereits eine medizinische Ausbildung durchlaufen hatten. Schlussfolgerung: Optimierungsbedarf besteht hinsichtlich der Anpassung der klinischen Lehrinhalte an den aktuellen Wissensstand der Studierenden.

Since the undertaking of urban planning as a prescriptive discipline, landscape projects have demonstrated their ability to integrate valuable cultural spaces with the construction of complex infrastructural systems, including systems that manage urban waste outflows. By the twenty-first century, urban planners have been tasked with the reclamation of derelict post-industrial sites and their abandoned infrastructural networks. The reclamation of these sites typically deploys complex operations in order to salvage and recycle valuable materials. These operations are also tasked with the disposal, stabilization or treatment of hazardous waste, contaminated soils and waterborne pollutants. Urban practitioners and theorists increasingly recognize the suitability of landscape as an interdisciplinary medium to expedite the reurbanization of these sites, assembling expertise from multiple engineering disciplines, horticultural and zoological science, and architectural design. The thesis proposition is a masterplan for the post-industrial Lachine Canal in Montréal, Québec. The masterplan integrates government plans to rehabilitate aging highway infrastructure through the adjacent, now defunct Turcot Rail Yard. Using the analytical mappings defined by Alan Berger in Drosscsape and Pierre Belanger’s “infrastructural landscapes” as a point of departure, the masterplan outlines a strategy to coordinate emergent waste diversion industries along the canal. Proposed interventions include a hybridized infrastructural landscape upon the abandoned rail yard to manage municipal organic waste, the effluents of brownfield reclamation, and construction debris. The application of phytoremediation landfarming and constructed wetlands comprise new landscapes that facilitate decontamination of existing brownfields along the Canal, promoting their reintegration with the surrounding urban environment. The thesis illustrates a speculative evolution of the site as an adaptively managed landscape, valued for its diverse biological wildlife habitat and for its recreational use by the citizens of Montréal.

Die mitteldeutsche Gewässerlandschaft mit ihren zahlreichen Flüssen und Seen unterliegt einer langjährigen Entwicklung. In einem aktiven Gestaltungsprozess wurden und werden mit hohem investiven Aufwand Erholungs- und Freizeitlandschaften geschaffen, deren Entwicklung erst am Anfang steht. Zur Ergänzung der wassertouristischen Infrastruktur wurden in den vergangenen Jahren landseitig attraktive Anziehungspunkte geschaffen. Neue Rad- und Wanderwege verbinden die UNESCO-Welterbestätten, die Stätten der Industriekultur, die Gewässerlandschaft im Leipziger Neuseenland und das Saale-Unstrut-Triasland samt den Städten Halle (Saale) und Leipzig. Bezogen auf die einzelnen Gewässer verlief die bisherige Entwicklung sehr heterogen; Untersuchungen lagen nur für Teilregionen oder Einzelgewässer vor.
