Abstract:
A circular economy is based on the principles of designing away waste, where waste is seen as a raw material resource. To move to a fossil-free society, materials from renewable raw materials will be needed. Bio-based materials usually do not have the same technical characteristics and aesthetic expressions as existing materials, bio-based DIY materials developed from unconventional raw material resources can provoke strong positive and negative reactions among users. This study has investigated how a Material-driven design process through form and culture can create acceptance for a bio-based DIY material from an unconventional raw material resource. The study's main purpose has been to contribute with new knowledge to make it easier for designers in a Material Driven Design process to identify uses and product forms that can strengthen material acceptance among users. In-depth areas in the study are theories for Sustainable Development, Circular Economy, Bioeconomy, Material Driven Design for Sustainability and Culture Sensitive Design. The main method of the study has been Material Driven Design, which is covered by several design methods. The study shows that the cultural link between the users and the origin of the raw material has had a significant impact on material acceptance by creating meaning for the user and that the material primarily needs to be applied in a product in such a way that the user has confidence in its performance. The results are presented in the form of a proposal for a user study and a product concept.

Hernandez, Ileana. "The Moderating Mediation Effects of Maternal Psychological Control and Maternal Acceptance on the Relation Between Maternal Acculturation and Youth Anxiety." FIU Digital Commons, 2012. http://digitalcommons.fiu.edu/etd/599.

Full text
Abstract:
The present study examined the relations among maternal psychological control, maternal acceptance, maternal acculturation and youth anxiety within the framework of a (partially) moderated mediation model. The sample consisted of 535 Hispanic-Latino youth (46% girls; M = 9.79 years) and their mothers. The study’s data were analyzed using structural equation modeling in the MPlus statistical software program. Results indicated that maternal psychological control and youth anxiety are significantly and positively related. Results also indicated that more acculturated mothers were more psychologically controlling than less acculturated mothers. Results further provided evidence for a partial mediational role of maternal psychological control on the relation between maternal acculturation and youth anxiety symptoms. In addition, there was a direct, positive relation between maternal acculturation and youth anxiety symptoms. No significant findings were observed regarding the moderating role of maternal acceptance on the relation between maternal psychological control and youth anxiety. The findings’ theoretical and clinical implications are further discussed.

Nayak, Preetham. "Real-time grade estimation and online acceptance or rejection of mined material." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/52143.

Full text
Abstract:
The mineral industry is currently challenged by low metal prices and depletion of high grade resources with increasing depth combined with complex geology. Achieving profits in-spite of these difficulties has been challenging and the standard industry response to tackle the situation is by pursuing economy of scale. Only large scale companies can adopt this method due to the high capital investment involved. The alternate solution is to recognize and introduce low cost mining and mineral processing methods. The current research aims at increasing profitability of a mining operation by efficiently utilizing the mineral resource and increase the recovery. The research focuses on exploiting inherent heterogeneity in an orebody with the development of a sophisticated tool that can perform real time, with online analysis and decision support systems to designate the destination of the material being mined. The research includes measuring and modeling a deposit’s heterogeneity at both BHP Billiton’s Spence and Escondida mines. This is followed by the development of two digital models to evaluate the opportunity to adopt selective partitioning of ore, prior to hauling the mined material to the mill. An apparent increase in profitability is observed due to increased ore recovery. Determining and exploiting this heterogeneity offers different insights in orebody grade distribution, evaluating resources and reserves and production planning, all leading to more complete utilization of the resource. McKelvy, Tara N. "An Examination of Maternal Acceptance among Mothers and their Children with ADHD Symptomatology." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2011. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc84248/.

Full text
Abstract:
The current study examined the role of self-reported and child-reported maternal lack of acceptance in increasing the likelihood of developing internalizing and externalizing symptoms among children with ADHD symptomatology. The effects of a social desirability bias on mother’s self-reports of rejection were controlled for. Mother-child agreement about parenting behaviors like warmth/affection, hostility/aggression and indifference/neglect was also investigated. In addition, variables with the potential to affect agreement (i.e., parents’ social desirability bias, child age, child sex) were examined. Participants included 120 boys and 90 girls, 6 to 11 years old (M = 8.25, SD = 1.18) with and without ADHD and their primary parent/guardian (N = 209). Parent and child participants completed self-report instruments separately. Results indicate that the relationship between mother-and-child-reported ADHD symptoms and internalizing symptoms is strongest when mothers exhibit low levels of rejection. Among the ADHD subsample, maternal lack of acceptance acts as a risk factor by strengthening the relationship between hyperactive/impulsive symptoms and externalizing symptoms. In addition, mothers and their children report significantly different levels of parenting behaviors. Child age and child sex were significant predictors of parent-child disagreement.

Abstract:
This thesis is based on a research project aimed at creating new electron acceptors from cyclopenta-fused polycyclic hydrocarbons (CP-PAHs). We have utilized Pd-catalyzed cyclopentenelation reactions to create 2,7-bis(trimethylsilyl)cyclopenta[hi]aceanthrylene 1 and 2,7-dibromocyclopenta[hi]aceanthrylene 3. Upon bromination these fullerene fragments serve as a building block for creating both small-molecule and polymeric electron acceptors. The resulting materials are dark green and possess narrow band gaps with low-lying lowest occupied molecular orbitals (LUMO). A fluorescence quenching at poly(3-heylthiophene) demonstrates the electron accepting behaviors of the materials. Traditional semiconductors are integrated with an CP-PAH core creating small molecules (or small molecules are created consisting of a CP-PAH core, complementary semiconductor, and aromatic substituents).

Abstract:
The urgent need to find alternative sources of energy has been recognized as a major challenge of the 21st century. Many ideas have been proposed, but harvesting the energy of the Sun has been identified by many as the most promising alternative to satisfy the world’s increasing energy demand. Among the current technologies to harness solar energy, photovoltaics and artificial photosynthesis (photocatalysis) stand out. Although very different in their strategies, both technologies entail a core principle, the generation of a charge-separated state. To this end, both methods employ electron acceptors that will receive the photo-electron; in most cases this role is played by C60 or its derivatives. Our research group has synthesized and characterized an octanuclear iron-oxo cluster with remarkable electrochemical properties which compares favorably with the reduction potentials of C60 and derivatives. This dissertation explores the use of this octanuclear cluster as electron acceptor for solar energy applications. To assess the viability of Fe8 as an electron acceptor in photocatalysis, electron donors that could coordinate to its iron atoms via phenol groups were synthesized and characterized. These electron donors were used in efforts to make molecular dyads, but coordination was not achieved. The altenative strategy studied was the preparation of Fe8-based hybrid materials that can be casted with known polymer electron donors. Several hybrid materials were prepared and their general properties investigated. These materials exhibited the desired electrochemical traits as well as the general castable behavior of the polymer host. These hybrids are now ready to be tested in polymer solar cells.

Abstract:
Renewable energy has become the centrepiece of research in resolving the energy crisis. One of the forms of renewable energy is solar energy. This form of energy is costly to develop. Organic molecules are promising materials for the construction of next generation photovoltaic cells considering their advantage of lower cost compared to crystalline silicon that is currently used in solar cells. This forms the basis of this research, which focused on the synthesis and characterisation of poly(3- hexylthiophene) P3HT, stannum (Sn) nanoparticles and stannum-based bimetallic stannum-titanium (SnTi), stannum-chromium (SnCr) and stannum-vanadium (SnV) nanoparticles for the application in the construction of heterojunction photovoltaic cells (PVCs).

Saritas, Dilek. "The Effects Of Maternal Acceptance-rejection On Psychological Distress Of Adolescents: The Mediator Roles Of Early Maladaptive Schemas." Master's thesis, METU, 2007. http://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/3/12608127/index.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationships between perceived maternal rejection and psychological distress of adolescents. In addition to that, mediator roles of early maladaptive schemas in this relationship were explored. A total of 356 second-grade high school students (198 females and 158 males) were participated in the study. Participants ranged in age from 15 to 18 (M = 16.17, SD= 0.53). Data was collected by a questionnaire packet consisting Demographic data form, Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ), Parental Acceptance and Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) , trait part of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-T), trait part of State-Trait Anger Inventory (ANG-T) Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). Preceding the main analyses, factor analysis for YSQ was performed. It yielded three higher-order factors for YSQ as Impaired Limits- Exaggerated Standards, Disconnection-Rejection, and Impaired Autonomy-Other Directedness. Following factor analysis, ANOVAs were employed to assess differences between adolescents perceiving high acceptance and high rejection in terms of psychological distress measures (i.e., anger, positive affect, negative affect, and anxiety). It was found that adolescents perceiving high rejection were more likely to experience anger, negative affect, and anxiety than those perceiving high acceptance. In order to test whether Impaired Limits-Exaggerated Standards, Disconnection-Rejection, and Impaired Autonomy-Other Directedness mediate the relationship between perceptions of maternal rejection and adolescents&rsquo
anger, positive affect, negative affect, and anxiety respectively, separate hierarchical regression analyses were conducted as suggested by Baron and Kenny (1986). Mediation analyses revealed in general that both maternal rejection and schema domains had main effects on psychological distress measures. However, none of the schema domains did mediate the relationship between maternal rejection and psychological distress measures except for the disconnection-rejection schema domain. The result revealed that disconnection-rejection schema domain mediated the relationship between maternal rejection and anger. These findings were discussed with reference to the relevant literature. Future research topics were suggested and therapeutic implications of the study were discussed.

Ariyo, Oluwatosin. "Correlates of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Acceptance in Appalachian Tennessee." Digital Commons @ East Tennessee State University, 2017. https://dc.etsu.edu/etd/3238.

Full text
Abstract:
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the U.S., where one HPV-related cancer is diagnosed every 20 minutes. The most common HPV-related cancer is cervical cancer, with an estimated incidence of 12,000 cases annually, a third of which lead to death. Cervical cancer disparately affects women of ethnic minority groups and geographically isolated regions, such as Appalachia. Tennessee ranks third highest in cervical cancer incidence in the country. Many cases of cervical cancer could be prevented through vaccination against HPV, however, vaccination rates for females in Tennessee are among the lowest in the country. This mixed-methods study included an in-depth exploration of the factors that influence HPV vaccine acceptance in Appalachian Tennessee. Healthcare providers, mothers of adolescent girls, and college-aged women were recruited to participate in the study. From October 2016 to January 2017, interviews were conducted with healthcare providers (n=12), focus groups were conducted with mothers (n=13), and a survey was administered to college women (n=479). Interview and focus group sessions were recorded, transcribed and analyzed using a thematic framework. Survey responses were analyzed using descriptive tests, comparison of means, and regression analyses. The predominant barriers to vaccine acceptance identified in the study were: cost and novelty of the vaccine, vaccine safety, lack of school-entry requirement, and the implication of vaccine acceptance on adolescents’ sexual activity. Most negative perceptions towards the vaccine appeared to be propagated by the sociocultural influence on sex and reproductive health communication within the community. Perceived benefits for cancer prevention and receipt of strong and personal provider recommendations facilitated vaccine acceptance. Additionally, college students who reported vaccine acceptance reported discussing sexual health topics with their mothers more often than those who had not been vaccinated. The findings from this study provide foundational insights about the facilitators and barriers of HPV vaccine acceptance in Appalachian Tennessee. Identifying and understanding these factors is crucial to improving HPV vaccination rates and essential to maximizing the primary benefit of the vaccine in addressing the existing cervical cancer disparity in the region.

Ebenhoch, Bernd. "Organic solar cells : novel materials, charge transport and plasmonic studies." Thesis, University of St Andrews, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10023/7814.

Full text
Abstract:
Organic solar cells have great potential for cost-effective and large area electricity production, but their applicability is limited by the relatively low efficiency. In this dissertation I report investigations of novel materials and the underlying principles of organic solar cells, carried out at the University of St Andrews between 2011 and 2015. Key results of this investigation: • The charge carrier mobility of organic semiconductors in the active layer of polymer solar cells has a rather small influence on the power conversion efficiency. Cooling solar cells of the polymer:fullerene blend PTB7:PC₇₁BM from room temperature to 77 K decreased the hole mobility by a factor of thousand but the device efficiency only halved. • Subphthalocyanine molecules, which are commonly used as electron donor materials in vacuum-deposited active layers of organic solar cells, can, by a slight structural modification, also be used as efficient electron acceptor materials in solution-deposited active layers. Additionally these acceptors offer, compared to standard fullerene acceptors, advantages of a stronger light absorption at the peak of the solar spectrum. • A low band-gap polymer donor material requires a careful selection of the acceptor material in order to achieve efficient charge separation and a maximum open circuit voltage. • Metal structures in nanometer-size can efficiently enhance the electric field and light absorption in organic semiconductors by plasmonic resonance. The fluorescence of a P3HT polymer film above silver nanowires, separated by PEDOT:PSS, increased by factor of two. This could be clearly assigned to an enhanced absorption as the radiative transition of P3HT was identical beside the nanowires. • The use of a processing additive in the casting solution for the active layer of organic solar cells of PTB7:PC₇₁BM strongly influences the morphology, which leads not only to an optimum of charge separation but also to optimal charge collection.

Moalosi, Richie. "The impact of socio-cultural factors upon human-centred design in Botswana." Queensland University of Technology, 2007. http://eprints.qut.edu.au/16353/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis explores the relationship between culture and human-centred design in Botswana, a topic on which there is little previous research. The pinnacle of good product innovation is when it is grounded on sensitive cultural analysis of users' culture; however, it has been observed that designers have not yet been able to encode cultural phenomena to the same extent as cognitive and physical human factors. The study develops a theoretical framework of cultural analysis, comparing traditional with contemporary socio-cultural factors that can be applied to designing products. The content analysis method was used to extract and synthesise traditional and contemporary socio-cultural factors from Botswana's cultural sources. An experimental study was undertaken in Botswana to investigate how socio-cultural factors can be integrated in product design, and the participants' challenge was to transfer and apply these into product features that reflect Botswana's culture. This data was analysed using the qualitative method of textual and visual content analysis. A culture-orientated design model has been proposed to assist designers to consciously integrate culture in their design practice. The framework demonstrates how to specify, analyse and integrate socio-cultural factors in the early stages of the design process by advancing local thought, content and solutions. It advances a new approach to design education, theory, research and practice. It emerged that culture can be used as a resource of information and a source of inspiration for product innovation that connects with users' traditions. The research findings show that culture-orientated products have meaningful content that reflects users' lifestyles as well as providing them with symbolic personal, social and cultural values, and that these aspects facilitate product acceptance.

Abstract:
The main purpose of the present study was to explore the relationships between vertical and horizontal individualism-collectivism, religiosity and parenting styles from perspective of parents and their children. It was also aimed to examine SES related differences and the differences between mothers, fathers, and their children in terms of the study variables. In addition, the differences between authoritative, authoritarian, indulgent, and neglectful families in terms of vertical individualism (VI), horizontal individualism (HI), vertical collectivism (VC), horizontal collectivism (HC), and religiosity were investigated. For these purposes data were collected from 230 families including mother, father, and their young adult child &ndash
in the age range of 17-25-. Three participants from each family responded to similar measurement of the study variables, namely Vertical and Horizontal Individualism-Collectivism Scale, the Measurement of the Child Rearing Styles Scale, Religiosity Scale, and Demographic Information Form. According to the results, age, family income, VI, and VC for mothers and age, VI, and religiosity for fathers were significant predictors of parental control whereas education level, HI, HC, and VC for mothers and only VC for fathers were significant predictors of parental acceptance. The regression analyses for the child sample of the study indicated that the predictors of VI are education level and perceived parental control
the predictor of HC is perceived parental acceptance
the predictors of VC are perceived parental control and acceptance
the predictor of HI is gender
and the predictors of religiosity are family income and perceived parental control. Results also showed that there were significant differences as well as similarities between all considered groups. The findings of the study were discussed in the light of the related literature.

Tucknott, Maria. "An investigation into the impact of childhood abuse and care-giver invalidation on psychological inflexibility in clinical and subclinical eating disorders." Thesis, University of Hertfordshire, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/2299/14569.

Full text
Abstract:
As a whole, eating disorders have been characterised as having the following key features: a persistent over concern with body size and shape; and weight control behaviours such as fasting, exercise, and self-induced vomiting. However, there tends to be a blurred line between those that do and do not meet diagnostic thresholds as the level of psychological distress is comparably similar. This study examined whether psychological inflexibility (from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy perspective) was associated with eating disorders and whether it mediated the relationship between childhood abuse and invalidation and eating disorders. This was considered to be important because high rates of abuse have consistently been found in this population, yet not everyone goes on to develop an eating disorder. In addition, the role of emotional abuse has been largely neglected. A clinical sample of 190 participants with a clinical or subclinical eating disorder were recruited from eating disorder charities and support forums; they completed a range of questionnaires measuring experiences of abuse and maternal/paternal emotional invalidation in childhood, current levels of cognitive fusion and experiential avoidance and current levels of eating pathology. The sample was split into three groups based on their Eating Disorder Risk Composite scores: elevated, typical and low clinical range. It was found that those in the elevated clinical range (most severe eating pathology) had the poorest emotional processing and significantly higher levels of psychological inflexibility, thought-shape-fusion, depression and anxiety than those in the low clinical range (least severe eating pathology). In terms of predicting current levels of eating pathology, three variables emerged as significant predictors: emotional processing, thought-shape fusion and depression. In terms of predicting current levels of psychological inflexibility, five variables emerged as significant predictors: childhood emotional abuse, emotional processing, thought-shape-fusion, depression and anxiety. The results add novel findings to the literature regarding the role of early experiences on the development of psychological inflexibility, and the role of psychological inflexibility in the maintenance of eating pathology and psychological distress. Clinical implications of these findings in relation to assessment, formulation, intervention and prevention are discussed.

Green building materials are not emerging technologies in internationally, but they are relatively new in Taiwan. Although most of consumers have heard about them, but few consumers used them. Even many people only heard about green building material but didn’t understand deeply with it. The research explores the acceptance of green building material that people who live in Taiwan. This study uses Technology acceptance model some factors that contain perceive quality, environmental attitudes, and consumer demand. In this study, we expect to offer some suggestions to make the popularity of green building materials more. This study shows that most people who have heard and used of green building material will tend to use it. Although consumers agree that green building materials generally results in better quality of life and convenience, but they do not agree with the green building material is easy to use. Consumers think it is difficult to obtain and maintain. Because of the above reasons when consumer build the house, they won’t take the initiative to ask or buy green building materials. This research suggests that green building materials should popularize its diversity, so that consumers will know green building materials can be used into the general household building material.

The medical material is not deficient to hospital. How to buy the standard medical material fit to hospital is not to ignore of medical quality assure plan. But the most accept procedure of hospital is to check the amounts and gather the accounting datum. The quality inspection with regard to medical material is hard to concrete describe and not much to do by accepter. Therefore, it is not to ignore of subject about to confer the medical material accept procedure. The study is help hospital to build an effective acceptable system of buy the medical material. To analysis the problem about to use medical material by hospital, and to gather the situations about the property is related to medical material in Taiwan. The next step is to confer the laws whether clear and define about the accept procedure of medical material. First, I interviewed 14’s experts of the medical material manufacturers, the users in hospital and the expert of government. And used the Delphi method to gather the opinions about the experts. I collected the tentative programs about the experts’ medical material opinions. That separated three components about the characteristic of medical material, the consult standard of inspection and the plan of acceptance sampling. Final, the study will verify the method can apply to hospital. That selected the case study objects are Department of Health, Executive Yuan, Southern District Hospital Alliance, to build the acceptable model.

The purpose of this research is based on technology acceptance model(TAM) to explore “characteristics of digital learning material” and “Interaction of digital learning between classmates” – how the students come to accept the technology and the degree of influence. It helps us to understand how students using the system of digital learning materials to further improve their curriculum outcome. To probe teachers into digital learning material the frequency of using and make digital learning materials in the classroom instruction at present. This research is targeted on a group of high school students who study the English Assessment Curriculum and current teachers of four different public and private high schools. From that aspect of research, we inputted digital learning materials to the technology acceptance model. We used questionnaires as a survey method to collect information, and SPSS statistical formula as instrument to process information on a statistics analysis, reliability analysis and factor analysis – to confirm the motive of students’ behavior on using digital learning materials. The result of this research has demonstrated the correlations of each hypothesis were all above level, which has significantly indicated most of students were able to use the digital learning materials to improve their learning motive. To achieve the learning aim is by using the advantage of digital learning materials, i.e. repetitious practice, to facilitate students of a lack on curriculum learning. In terms of teachers, it showed the current teachers need to strengthen their ability on utilizing digital learning materials, in particular, there is a variation of attitude on how public/ and private teachers come to accept digital learning materials.

“Sampling Inspection” has been not only applied to the quality management for the industries in Taiwan, But also the inspections of the materials from the suppliers. As the raise of the high-tech industries, The manufacturing technology have been increased continuously. For the strict requirement of the quality the outdated traditional, Sampling Plan seems like can not satisfy the request in dudes high quality or zero defect from customers. On the other hand, Under the competitive condition of diversified quality, The competition of products may be decreased because of the inspection is to guarantee the quality of produces. From the view of inspection, Many experts think the new concept of quality control is to improve the quality of products from the supplier but the inspection. This research will focus on the electronic-related industries, and discuss the condition of application, The necessity and the advantage under the strict quality requirement by different condition factors, Such as the requirement of ISO the requirement from customers and the relationship between receivers and suppliers. We attend to define the role and the placement of Sampling Plan for the regular industries, and provide it as a reference of quality management and administration. We also hope it can be a contribution to the regular Industries in Taiwan.

Abstract:
Spectra collected with near infrared (NIR) and Raman spectroscopic methods were used along with unsupervised pattern recognition, namely, principle component analysis (PCA), to conduct a qualitative analysis of three different pH materials: calcium carbonate (CaCO3), sodium tetraborate decahydrate (borax) and potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP). The NIR and Raman based fingerprinting with PCA were tested to distinguish between standard reference materials (SRM‘s) produced by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and other potential candidate materials, and commercial samples of lower purity. A collection of 87 samples of CaCO3, 52 samples of borax and 63 samples of KHP were measured by NIR and Raman spectroscopy. In the case of CaCO3, PCA achieved a good discrimination coherent with the NIST reference method for acceptance of pH SRM‘s. In the case of borax, good discrimination was obtained between the samples but inadequate for quality control of candidate materials. In the case of KHP, insufficient discrimination was obtained between samples. This does not exclude the possibility of applying the proposed method to the quality control of candidate materials, because the NIST reference method was also unable to distinguish negative controls from SRMs. The PCA clusters were further explained by X-ray diffraction (XRD) in case of calcium carbonate, which revealed that the PCA discrimination is based on the phase transformation of polymorphs of calcite, aragonite and vaterite. In the case of borax, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed that borax is not a stable substance but it tends to lose some of its crystallization water and transforms slowly into the pentahydrate. This is in good agreement with the different groups distinguished on the PCA. KHP was characterized by the impurities within the samples. The dominant impurity was proven to be the occluded water. This study proves that the use of chemometrics and its ability to discriminate between chemically different samples could be a powerful tool to assure the identity and quality of the pH buffer materials and to streamline the acceptance procedure of new issues of SRM‘s.

In this study, two fluorene-based non-fullerene acceptors, DTFIC and DTFIC-4F and a new interlayer material, DTFNIC were synthesizd. Both DTFIC and DTFIC-4F contain a fluorene and two thiophene fused heptacyclic ring as electron-rich central core and 2-(3-oxo-2,3-dihydroinden-1-ylidene)malononitrile (IC) and 2-(5,6-difluoro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydroinden-1-ylidene)malononitrile as electron-deficient unit on both ends respectively. Both compounds exhibit strong absorption in the range from 500 to 700 nm. Compare to DTFIC, DTFIC-4F demonstrates red-shifted absorption and downshifted energy level alighment. The bulk heterojunction solar cells based on J71:DTFIC and J71:DTFIC-4F were fabricated with the structure of ITO/ZnO/active layer/MoO3/Ag. Their best power conversion efficiencies exhibit as 7.89% and 8.62% respectively. The effects of fluorine substituent on the photovoltaic property, electro-optical property and film morphology were investigated. In the second part of this study, an interlayer material, DTFNIC was synthesized. DTFNIC contains two thiophene-flanked fluorene core with alkyl triazolium side-chain and end-capped with two IC units. When the interlayer was applied between ITO and ZnO layers, the bulk heterojunction solar cells, ITO/interlayer/ZnO/active layer/MoO3/Ag, show the enhanced PCEs of 7.57% and 8.92% for both PBDB-T:ITIC and J71:DTFIC-4F systems.

ABSTRACT Twelve-year compulsory education will be executed this year, and the teaching of character education will be integrated into every subject. After collecting related data, I indicated that every junior high school set their own 42 core targets, each of which was distractive and not precise enough. Hence, this study demonstrated that through interviews, the core value projects the teachers considered students to possess were in order of respect, gratitude, responsibility, honesty, and care, and that digital media in character education have already been set up in the websites such as Ministry of Education for Character Education, National Academy for Education Research, and Education Bureau in New Taipei City. In addition, during the process of interviews, I found that that though most of the teachers were aware of digital media auxiliary materials, they barely integrated them into their teaching. To explore the reasons, based on technology acceptance model (TAM) and taking the variations into consideration such as educational policies, support from administration, and the acquirement of teaching materials. I aimed to explore the influences digital media auxiliary materials had on character education with the help of the software, SmartPLS 2.0. Therefore, I targeted at junior high school teachers, adopted Questionnaire Survey, and received 149 effective samples. The study showed that the factors such as educational policies, support from administration and the acquirement of teaching materials significantly influence teachers’ willingness to apply digital media auxiliary materials to the teaching of character education. In addition, teachers’ awareness that digital media was accessible also influence teachers’ willingness to apply digital media auxiliary materials to the teaching of character education. As a result, the interviewed teachers consider that the accessibility and effectiveness of the digital media auxiliary teaching materials will influence their willingness of using them. As explained above, under the policy of promoting character education, these factors will exalt teachers’ attempts to apply media auxiliary teaching materials to the teaching of character education, including support from administration, and the acquirement of teaching materials. All in all, I believed that relevant government agencies in education can promote character education more efficiently as long as they regulate the core value targets more specifically and put more efforts in guiding teachers the utility of digital media auxiliary materials.

Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Information Systems and Technologies Management
For the past few years we have been commonly hearing that the only thing which is constant is change. One of the main reasons for that is development and use of new information technologies (hereinafter: IT). In many industries, implementation of IT solutions has improved and changed process flows. Impacts of IT can also be found in educational processes. Nowadays, marks of chalk in classrooms can only be found within an Art class. Majority of classrooms are equipped with at least one of the IT innovations; computer, projector, interactive white board, internet connection, etc. Since today’s pupils are raised with presence of modern IT at every step and consequently with the modern lifestyle, they are losing the initial contact with the traditional way of learning. That is why it makes sense to think about alternatives to traditional learning, to raise the motivation among students and prepare them to accept more information, as well as to link new information with the already obtained knowledge and store it in long-term memory (Clark & Mayer, 2011, p. 36). Integrating technologies in educational process offers alternative channels to deliver knowledge in pursuit of promoting learning and motivating pupils. In the last few years, we have been witnesses to a large promotion of e-materials use in classrooms. However, use of e-materials does not only require technologically equipped classrooms, but mostly a change in the way of teaching. Since the educational system has been moving quite slowly towards changes, there has not been a massive adoption of e-materials in classrooms, especially by teachers (Demetriadis et al., 2003, pp. 19-20).

Facing the advent of the new era of digital learning in the 21stcentury, it is inevitable for teachers and learners to apply multimedia materials to teaching and learning. Based on the study of rational behavior theory, planned behavior and technology acceptance model, the study adds the perceived self-efficacy, perceived financial cost, long-term results as well as the perceived credibility as four constructs to set up an extension of technology acceptance model, exploring the impact of college teachers’ behavioral intentions to use of multimedia teaching materials. This study using structural equation model (SEM) collected valid samples from 16 colleges and universities in central Taiwan. The results indicate that not only perceived financial costs have the significantly positive effects on behavioral intention, but also both perceived credibility and long-term consequence have the significantly positive effects on behavioral intention. Meanwhile, perceived usefulness does not have the significantly positive effects on attitude toward using multimedia teaching materials. On the other hands, perceived self-efficacy has the significantly positive effects on both behavioral intention and perceived ease of use. Long-term consequence has the significantly positive effects on attitude toward using multimedia teaching materials. Furthermore, perceived ease of use has the significantly positive effects on perceived credibility, perceived usefulness, and attitude toward using multimedia teaching materials. Also, attitude toward using multimedia teaching materials has the significantly positive effects on behavioral intention. The study also shows that the deleterious influence of behavioral intention on instructor-related outcomes, such as perceived self-efficacy, perceived financial cost, perceived credibility, long-term consequence, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness is conditional and depends on the combination of antecedent conditions that occur in the causal statements. For this study, the major contribution is using fsQCA to explore the instructors’ behavioral intention on multimedia teaching materials lead to high membership in the three outcome conditions: (1) PEU (Perceived Ease of Use), (2) ATT (Attitude) and (3) BI (Behavioral Intention) and the secondary contribution is to make a comparison with the results of both methods between SEM and fsQCA. In this study, the empirical analysis results are presented with detailed explanation and recommendations on the management implications and practices are stated for reference in the further study.

By summarizing the various factors of future war type, enemy threat, and overall national resources allocation, Ministry of National Defense has been continuously promoting the “Refining Program” from 2011 to 2014 based on the considerations of military strategy, national finance and policy guidance, and promotion of voluntary military service system in order to establish a national defense force that is “small but excellent, small but strong, small but skillful”. Our national military should achieve the objectives of refined reorganization and military force modernization in response to task adjustment and changes in national defense resources. For the Navy Logistics Support Command to maintain organizational competitiveness and operation quality in this tide of revolution, the intangible assets of manpower within the organization must not be overlooked. In response to the requirements of flat logistic organization structure and the regional support of national military, the naval logistical support materials demand allocation operation must be refined in order to provide supplies with proper timing, proper location, proper quality, and proper quantity, to maintain the survival endurance and battle sustainability of our troops. The important task is to figure out how to utilize modern information technology and equipment to improve the efficiency of military supply, to establish and strengthen logistical supply operation in order to effectively support the implementation of army building and military missions. In this study the naval logistical unit is the research object for the purpose of investigating the crucial procedure and the process innovation acceptance of allocation operation based on naval logistical support material demand by using AHP. In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, in this study we plan to adopt the “Allocation operation process flow based on naval logistical support material demand questionnaire” as the tool for conducting questionnaire survey with units to be supplied in all regions of navy, and the analysis will be conducted with respect to 30 valid samples based on statistical methods of percentage, mean, and hierarchical analysis. In this study it is found that, in terms of personal attributes, there is significant statistical difference in service years and the acceptance of process innovation. According to the results of empirical analysis, the most important part of process flow of the naval logistical support materials demand allocation operation is “acceptance procedure”, followed by the “allocation procedure”, and “return and replacement procedure” in last place. The results of this study indicate that most interviewees agree that the process innovation can enhance work efficiency without addition work load. Therefore, managers can be more confident in the results of hierarchical analysis, avoid the maladaptation or increased error rate of operators due to process flow variation, and convene all relevant personnel to proceed with investigation and implementation of major process flow improvement, and then evaluate improvement direction of the next stage based on trial results.

Since the National Health Insurance was implemented in 1995, the medical costs are rising and rising. The National Health Insurance already couldn’t make ends meet. It is imperative for the hospital perpetual survival. Study found that materials cost constituted a major proportion of expenses in the hospital. And a large proportion of materials cost are used in the Intensive Care Unit. So it is an important subject to find an effective way to control materials cost of Intensive Care Unit in the hospital. Because Information System has been regarded as a powerful tool which can promote the enterprises’ competitiveness. The Materials Management Information System is useful to manage materials and control cost. Therefore, the research framework is based on Technology Acceptance Model and Management Support, Communication, and Computer Self-Efficacy are invovled to survey the staff’s Behavior Intention on using Materials Management Information System in ICU. The results revealed the predictive power of Behavior Intention is 69.1%. It indicated that the model could be used to predict the materials management staff ‘s behavior on using Materials Management Information System in ICU.

Mitrovich, Rachel Christine. "Examining determinants of vaccine acceptance for maternal immunization in a low-resource setting in Zambia: a qualitative assessment from the perspective of women and providers." Thesis, 2019. https://hdl.handle.net/2144/38125.

Full text
Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Recently there has been a shift in the global health arena towards maternal immunization as the missing link to protect mother, fetus, and infant. However, as research is being conducted across the maternal immunization portfolio to address underlying immunological mechanisms, effectiveness, stability, and safety, there is minimal data regarding acceptance from the perspective of women and providers, specifically in low-resource settings. Serving as a factor that informs a global and national recommendation for vaccine use, closing this knowledge gap will be necessary to reach policy decisions, develop strategies to introduce maternal vaccines into National Immunization Programs, and secure uptake of such policies on the part of intended beneficiaries. METHODS: Qualitative data was collected across three health facilities (urban, peri-urban, rural) via focus group discussions (women), key informant interviews (family/community members), and clinical vignettes (women). Thematic analysis was guided by the World Health Organization’s Model of Determinants of Vaccine Hesitancy using the seven stages of the Framework Method. RESULTS: Results demonstrated that while women showed confidence in the safety and efficacy of vaccines, hesitancy towards maternal vaccination was fostered by misinformation, religious beliefs, use of traditional medicine, social norms, family involvement, and concerns about risk benefit profiles. In contrast, providers expressed service delivery barriers such as long wait times, husband involvement in decision-making, and religion as main reasons why women were hesitant to be vaccinated during pregnancy. Providers believed that these barriers could easily be overcome with proper outreach, education, and modifications to service delivery. Additionally, providers displayed confidence in their own understanding of the vaccine ecosystem and the level of knowledge women possessed about vaccines. CONCLUSION: To ensure the full potential of maternal vaccines, policies, national strategies, and implementation approaches will need to consider knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs expressed by women and providers, as well as the cultural dynamics of the setting in which vaccines are being administered. Furthermore, research is required to understand the relative strength of explanatory factors in deciding to be vaccinated during pregnancy, as well as exploration of how these factors change over time and contribute to policy and program implementation approaches.

The research mainly aims for the discussion on the correlation among the factors that affect users’ attitudes and behavioral intentions towards the Ministry of Health and Welfare-Price Comparison Network for self-supporting medical devices, and to include them into the dimension of trust to explore the mutual influence between perceived ease of use and trust and the interference effect of job relevance on them. Thereby, it is an important objective of the research to understand the potential users’ intention to use Ministry of Health and Welfare- Price Comparison Network for self-supporting medical devices, and the possible factors affecting the intention to use due to the nature of work. This research was based on the theory of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) put forward by Davis (1989). It adopted the method of questionnaire survey. A total of 188 valid questionnaires were collected. And PLS analysis method was used to verify the research framework. The users were divided into two categories: the users in the first category were the professionals highly correlated with the medical field; the users in the second category were the professionals uncorrelated with the medical field. The purpose of this research is to verify, analyze and compare the technology acceptance model for job relevance. The results of the research shown that there are significant differences of facet relevance of technology acceptance model between the professionals highly correlated with the medical field and the professionals uncorrelated with the medical field, which means that there are certain differences between the two groups. The results of this research will be benefit to establish the technology acceptance model and provide more understanding modes and interpretation of technology acceptance model for users.

Mothers of cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) infants have to face chronic facial, physical, and psychological problems of their children. The psychological adjustment of those mothers thus is worth in-depth investigations. The present study adopted a system approach of social network interaction investigating (1) the positive/negative feature (i.e., social support and social undermining), (2) the types (i.e., emotional, informational, and instrumental support/undermining), and (3) the resource (i.e., husband, parents, and parents-in-law) of social network interaction. The goal was to examine the moderating effect (i.e., buffering or exacerbating) and main effect of the social network interaction system on maternal depression and attitude toward accepting the CLP child. Fifty mothers of CLP infants, who have already finished the first lip repair surgery (mean age = 135 days), and 49 mothers of healthy infants (mean age = 49 days) participated in this study. Between-group comparisons with respect to the perceived social network interaction system, the degree of depression, and acceptance toward the CLP infants were conducted. Mothers of CLP infants perceived more social support but were not more depressed or less accepting compared with those in the healthy group. Hierarchical regression analysis on the predictability of social network interaction system to degrees of depression and acceptance indicated that perceived social support significantly predicted the degree of acceptance; while perceived social undermining predicted both acceptance and depression, and its interaction with maternal sense of personal impact over giving birth to CLP infants predicted acceptance negatively. These findings supported the main effect of social support and the main and exacerbating effect of social undermining. This study also found that emotional and informational support were correlated with acceptance, informational undermining with depression, support from husband with acceptance, and social undermining from husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law with depression. On the whole, this study supported the cross-over effect hypothesis of social undermining and suggested social undermining has a unique contribution, both in terms of main effect and moderating effect, toward maternal psychological adjustment of CLP infants. Moreover, this study also demonstrated that maternal adjustments were most vulnerable to several particular types of social support and social undermining, which may be related to the social network and interaction pattern embedded in Chinese family structure. Clinical suggestions derived from findings of this study were also provided.

In today's reform under the system of students' learning motivation and interest is generally poor, so when actively cultivate students' enthusiasm for learning, so that students can shift from passive learning to active learning, the activation areas and diverse development pattern. The Ministry of education in 103 years began to promote the school e-learning innovation model, the use of digital teaching materials is innovation the learning based wave. So this study will be to cram schools in Taichung area high school high school students as the object of study and questionnaire, the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB) as the guidance, to explore the relationship between personality variables related analysis using the attitude and willingness of the digital teaching materials. The results showed that perceived behavioral control and behavior has no positive correlation, which means the decision when students use digital teaching materials more, but its usage and number less. Therefore, if we can in the digital material promotion and application with the teaching of the school, the students in digital teaching materials based learning the environment, increase the new learning mode of thinking, then influence and stimulate the students' enthusiasm to improve the effectiveness of the use of digital teaching materials. This study can be used as a reference for a new generation of digital learning and popularization of digital teaching materials.
