Abstract:
By accepting that an ageing body and its memories are simply a conglomerate of materials moving from one state to another and that drawing materials can be thought of as operating in parallel to this acceptance, drawings are made that can be read as visualizations of the ageing process. The experience of the ‘self-feeling’ of ageing is entangled with Deleuze’s idea of ‘the fold’ in order to develop a personal understanding of how one’s own thought can be taken ‘into’ the thought of another and how a conversation can enter the mind of others as a material entanglement.

Abstract:
Research reported here addresses the issue of the reliability of retrospective reports of children's perceptions of maternal acceptance-rejection as measured by the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire. A sample of 49 middle-class Caucasian 7- to 11-yr.-old children were asked to respond to the questionnaire reflecting on their mothers' current accepting-rejecting behaviors. Seven years later the same children—now adolescents—responded to the same questionnaire with the instruction to reflect back on their mothers' behavior when the youth were about 7 to 11 years of age. None of these youth recalled having been tested seven years earlier. A simple zero-order correlation between scores in childhood and adolescence was .62, indicating that adolescents' retrospective recollections were in moderate agreement with their reports during childhood. Thus, it seems clear that, at least with respect to perceptions of maternal acceptance-rejection as measured by the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire, researchers can have reasonable confidence that adolescents' current recollections about their experiences of maternal acceptance-rejection are likely to be in moderate agreement with what they would have reported had they been tested during childhood.

Abstract:
In the case of assembly wellhead, a spacer spools was used to provide space and connect between parts of the wellhead. In order to design spacer spool with specified material should comply the standards and procedures of the oil and gas industry. The results of the material calculation were using the ASME BPVC guidelines. These three materials strengths were calculated if used as a body spacer spool. Based on acceptance criteria on API 6A 21st Edition, these three materials were categorized as acceptable to be used as a body spacer spool for this specification. These three materials strengths were also calculated the stress of the flange and flange rigidity criteria. Based on the acceptance criteria on ASME BPVC guidelines, the results showed that these materials can be used for flange because it had stress value under yield strength of material which was flange rigidity criteria for operating condition has 0.59 and 0.66 for testing condition because had value of rigidity that met with minimum acceptance criteria.

Abstract:
Virgin plastic pellets are widely used as raw materials in flexible plastic packaging which generate abundant postconsumer plastic waste. The widespread use of recycled plastic pellets as raw materials will reduce plastic waste generation significantly. However, substitution of virgin materials need high quality of recycled plastic pellets which produced from good quality of plastic waste. Design for material value conservation in this case study was a trial implementation of design principles of plastic bag in order to minimize its value degradation of plastic waste, and therefore increase its acceptance by plastic recycling industries. A Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Lisrel 8.8 software used as tool of analysis in evaluating consumer acceptance of the two types of design paradigm, current design and material value conservation based design. The results indicated that consumers accepted both type of packaging. With final standard factor loading, the proposed design indicated slightly better correlation coefficients: 0.46 for Ease of Information Delivery and 0.74 for Informational Content variables, better than current design with 0.44 and 0.73 coefficients. Widespread implementation of design for material value conservation will save virgin plastic consumption for plastic packaging production, reduce plastic waste generation as well as support material resource conservation in a better condition of environment. The social and economic benefit will also be obtained as multiplier effect of material value conservation.

In space applications, day by day, the electronic devices are becoming compact with increase in operating frequencies and high power requirements posing challenges in design and selection of materials for high thermal dissipation requirements. In order to achieve optimum performance from thermal management material, engineers have to focus on high reliable, cost effective alternatives. Such materials need to demonstrate excellent thermal conduction to minimize thermo-mechanical stress and fatigue due to operations like soldering, thermal cycling and severe operating conditions. The paper describes a new family of thermal management composite material called “SILVAR”.

Abstract:
Flexible plastic packaging which rejected or with low acceptance as raw materials for secondary recycling need relevant evidence and explanation of its cause, and then, need a systemic solution on how to increase the acceptance level. Coloring and printing on flexible plastic packaging were predicted as the significant source of impurity that reduces the value of plastic material at the end of packaging life cycle. Otherwise, optimum use of label or sticker as printing media for informational and promotional purpose on the packaging proposed as a key solution in material value conservation. The existing practices which focused on how to manage abundant plastic waste generation, replaced by a new paradigm which focused on how avoid waste generation by conserving the material value systematically. This research revealed that flexible plastic packaging materials with no color pigment and no printing ink were suitable for secondary recycling to produce high quality of recycled plastic pellets and leverage the selling price. Therefore, labelling on the surface of packaging that protect purity of the material can be considered as one of methods in the implementation of material value conservation on flexible plastic packaging. Another benefits of the implementation of material value conservation are to improve the utilization of virgin plastic and its recycled plastic pellets as raw materials with better quality.

Abstract:
This study explored the relation between perceived maternal acceptance and control, and acting-out aggressive behavior in children diagnosed with ADHD. 81 dyads of mothers and children participated. Children ranged in age from 8 through 13 years ( M = 10.8 yr., SD=1.7). 63 children were boys, 18 were girls. Mothers ranged in age from 28 through 55 years ( M = 41.1 yr., SD = 5.58). 78% were posthigh school or college graduates. Both mothers and children responded to self-report questionnaires assessing children's behavior as well as mothers' behavior toward their children. Analysis showed that mothers were consistently accepting, and they tended to be firm in behavioral control. Children were reported by mothers as displaying only moderate acting-out aggressive behavior. Multiple regression analyses showed that both maternal acceptance and maternal control made significant and independent contributions to variations in children's acting-out behavior. Approximately 22% of the variance in scores on acting-out aggression was explained by a linear combination of maternal acceptance and behavioral control. None of these relations varied significantly by age or sex of the child.

Abstract:
Insulation elements are distinguished in inorganic fibrous and organic foamed materials. Foamed insulation materials are of great acceptance and use, but their major disadvantage is their flammability. In case of fire, they tend to transmit the flame producing toxic gases. In this paper, the synthesis and characterization of innovative inorganic insulation materials with properties competitive to commercial is presented. Their synthesis involves the mixing of inorganic raw material and water with reinforcing agent or/and foaming agent leading to the formation of a gel. Depending on raw materials nature, the insulation material is produced by freeze drying or ambient drying techniques of the gel. The raw material used are chemically benign and abundantly available materials, or industrial by-products and the final products are non-toxic and, in some cases, non-flammable. Their density and thermal conductivity was measured and found 0.02-0.06 g/cm3 and 0.03-0.04 W/mK, respectively.

Abstract:
The results of a comprehensive study of the crystal and electronic structures, kinetic and energetic performances of the semiconductor thermometric material Er1-xScxNiSb, (x=0–0.1) are presented. Microprobe analysis of the concentration of atoms on the surface of Er1-xScxNiSb samples established their correspondence to the initial compositions of the charge, and the diffractograms of the samples are indexed in the structural type of MgAgAs. Because the atomic radius Sc (rSc=0.164 nm) is smaller than that of Er (rEr=0.176 nm), it is logical to reduce the values of the unit cell's period a(x) Er1-xScxNiSb, which correlate with the results of mathematical modeling. The temperature dependences of the resistivity ln(ρ(1/T)) contain high- and low-temperature activation regions, which are specific for semiconductors and indicate the location of the Fermi level in the bandgap, and positive values of the thermopower coefficient a(x, T) specify its position – near the valence band . This result does not agree with the results of modeling the electronic structure for its ordered version. The presence of a low-temperature activation region on the ln(ρ(1/T)) p-ErNiSb dependence with an activation energy =0.4 meV indicates the compensation of the sample provided by acceptors and donors of unknown origin. A decrease in the values of the resistivity ρ(x, T) and the thermopower coefficient a(x, T) points to an increase in the concentration of holes in p-Er1- xScxNiSb in the area of concentrations x=0–0.03. This is possible in a p-type semiconductor only by increasing the concentration of the main current carriers, which are holes. The fact of increasing the concentration of acceptors in Er1-xScxNiSb at insignificant concentrations of impurity atoms is also indicated by the nature of the change in the values of the activation energy of holes from the Fermi level to the valence band . Consequently, if in p-ErNiSb the Fermi level was at a distance of 45.4 meV from the level of the valence band , then at the concentration Er1-xScxNiSb, x=0.01, the Fermi level shifted towards the valence band and was located at a distance of 13.6. Since the Fermi level reflects the ratio of ionized acceptors and donors in the semiconductor, its movement by x=0.01 to the valence band is possible either with an increase in the number of acceptors or a rapid decrease in the concentration of ionized donors. At even higher concentrations of Sc impurity in p-Er1-xScxNiSb, x≥0.03, low-temperature activation sites appear on the ln(ρ(1/T)) dependences, which is a sign of compensation and evidence of the simultaneous generation of acceptor and donor structural defects in the crystal nature. This is also indicated by the change in the position of the Fermi level in the bandgap of the semiconductor Er1-xScxNiSb, which is almost linearly removed from the level of the valence band : (x=0.05)=58.6 meV and (x=0.10)=88.1 meV. Such a movement of the Fermi level during doping of a p-type semiconductor is possible only if donors of unknown origin are generated. For a p-type semiconductor, this is possible only if the concentration of the main current carriers, which are free holes, is reduced, and donors are generated that compensate for the acceptor states. This conclusion is also confirmed by the behavior of the thermopower coefficient a(x, T) at concentrations x≥0.03. The results of structural, kinetic, and energy studies of the thermometric material Er1-xScxNiSb allow us to speak about a complex mechanism of simultaneous generation of structural defects of acceptor and donor nature. However, the obtained array of experimental information does not allow us to unambiguously prove the existence of a mechanism for generating donors and acceptors. The research article offers a solution to this problem. Having the experimental results of the drift rate of the Fermi level as the activation energy (x) from the Fermi level to the valence band by calculating the distribution of the density of electronic states (DOS) sought the degree of compensation, which sets the direction and velocity of the Fermi level as close as possible to the experimental results. DOS calculations are performed for all variants of the location of atoms in the nodes of the unit cell, and the degree of occupancy of all positions by their own and/or foreign atoms. It turned out that for ErNiSb the most acceptable option is one that assumes the presence of vacancies in positions 4a and 4c of the Er and Ni atoms, respectively. Moreover, the number of vacancies in the position Er (4a) is twice less than the number of vacancies in the position Ni (4c). This proportion is maintained for Er1-xScxNiSb. Vacancies in the positions of Er (4a) and Ni (4c) atoms Er1-xScxNiSb are structural defects of acceptor nature, which generate two acceptor zones and in the semiconductor. The introduction of impurity Sc atoms into the ErNiSb structure by substituting Er atoms in position 4a is also accompanied by the occupation of vacancies by Sc atoms and a reduction in their number. Occupying a vacancy, the Sc atom participates in the formation of the valence band and the conduction band of the semiconductor Er1-xScxNiSb, acting as a source of free electrons. We can also assume that the introduction of Sc atoms into the structure of the compound ErNiSb is accompanied by a process of ordering the structure of Er1-xScxNiSb and Ni atoms occupy vacancies in position 4c. This process also, however, 2 times slower, leads to a decrease in the concentration of structural defects of acceptor nature. In this case, Ni, giving valence electrons, now act as donors.

The outgassing properties of materials and other considerations on materials acceptance for space applications are discussed. The uses of the outgassing data for the evaluation of important performance characteristics of a space system are indicated. The deficiencies and advantages of the ASTM-E595-77 test method and materials acceptance criteria are discussed. Also discussed are the advantages for the selection of the materials and the uses of the data provided by the long-term measurements of the outgassing rates and surface reemission of materials. The paper concludes that the results of the ASTM method with additional derived data on the material properties can be used for the initial evaluation of a space system's characteristics. Materials data on outgassing and re-emission rates at various temperatures obtained from the more expensive, long-term QCM and TGA measurements should be obtained when a detailed analysis of a system is suggested based on the various considerations discussed in the paper.

Abstract Public acceptance of genetic modification (GM) technologies may be essential to their continued development, yet few studies have investigated the manner in which demographic and educational factors predict support for GM research. The current study examined attitudes toward animal research and GM in ~400 university undergraduates enrolled in introductory or upper-level psychology courses with material on animal experimentation. Results revealed that men were more accepting of animal and GM research than were women. Enrollment in upper-level psychology classes that addressed specific topics in animal research did not directly predict support for GM research, but such enrollment was associated with increased endorsement of the validity of animal research, which then contributed to acceptance of GM scenarios. The current findings highlight the impact of educational variables on support for animal research, which may then influence attitudes toward GM research.

The current study examined prospective associations between maternal solicitation and acceptance, adolescent self-disclosure, and adolescent externalizing behaviors. Participants included 357 urban adolescents (46% male; 92% African American) and their maternal caregivers. Participants provided data annually (three waves across 2-year time frame). Results of a three-wave longitudinal path model demonstrated that adolescent self-disclosure was related to higher rates of maternal solicitation and lower frequencies of externalizing behaviors. Maternal solicitation was associated with higher rates of maternal acceptance. Maternal acceptance was positively associated with adolescent self-disclosure and indirectly associated with lower frequencies of adolescent externalizing behaviors via higher levels of adolescent self-disclosure. Associations did not differ by sex or age. Understanding factors that contribute to adolescent self-disclosure and maternal acceptance are important, as they appear to have protective influences on externalizing behaviors.

Abstract:
Additive manufacturing (AM) is currently one of the most promising and advanced tools to make high-end components. For industrial acceptance of these components, there is a demand for the delivery of high quality parts, certified under recognized standards. Pre-requisites for such certified parts are the certification of the powder feed-stock and the use of qualified facilities. Such a certification and qualification project encompasses different challenges regarding both powder testing and print process stability. Today there are insufficient quantitative acceptance criteria for AM metal powders in the standards. The main challenge is determining which properties to test and how to define some key indicators that can guarantee consistent quality of the end product. To face this challenge several relevant powder properties were tested in order to link powder performance to the properties of the printed material. To guarantee process stability and repeatability, a good knowledge and control of the different process parameters and their influence on the material quality is needed. Hence, an extensive study on the homogeneity of properties over the 3D printer platform was performed. A qualification testing platform was designed to guarantee and periodically check the quality of the printed AM316L material. The proper procedures and parameter settings were determined and fixed. This methodology finally lead to the qualification of the ENGIE Laborelec Powder Lab and the ENGIE Fabricom AM printing facility and the certification of AM 316L material through a recognized external qualification body. This initiative paves the way to ensure industrial acceptance of the selective laser melting process for high quality applications.

Abstract Introduction: The authors consider a book (as a pedagogical text) a traditional and timeless source of knowledge for many different groups of learners. It is a known fact that textbook authors, teachers, researchers, etc. generally pay more attention to the text part of the book than to its visual materials. However, the latter are just as important in understanding the subject matter and its applications as textual information on the topic. Methods: The psycho-didactic experiment described in this paper aims to widen the findings about the perception and understanding of visual parts of textbooks for pupils in their first years of schooling. In the paper, a less-known research method based on eye-tracking is presented. Results: The main results of the research are as follows: According to the findings of the authors, each pupil accepts and understands visual materials individually and this acceptance and understanding of visual materials is influenced by pupils’ personality traits. The research also shows that pupils prefer visual materials that depict reality as accurately as possible. Conclusions: The research was designed as a case study which could be used for further research of a similar form.

Abstract:
Our societies rely on the quality and availability of natural resources. Driven by population growth, economic development, and innovation, future demand for natural resources is expected to further increase in coming decades. Raw materials will be an important part of society’s future material mix as countries increasingly transition towards resource-efficient and greenhouse-gas neutral economies. Raw materials are also fundamental to meet ecological and socio-economic targets within the UN Sustainable Development Agenda. For instance, they have a fundamental role in renewable energy technologies, new building materials and infrastructure, communication systems, and low-carbon transportation. However, some materials are largely supplied from countries with poor governance. The future availability of these materials and associated impacts are of increasing concern going forward. Recent raw material criticality studies have explored economic, geo-political, and technological factors that affect materials’ supply. However, environmental and social pressures also play a role in their security of supply. For instance, conflicts can prevent access to mineral deposits; accidents and environmental damage compromise public acceptance and can hinder future extraction operations. This article will introduce this Special Issue with a focus on material requirements and responsible sourcing of materials for a low-carbon society, and provides an overview of the subsequent research papers.

Abstract:
Product performance including the cost of ownership is becoming increasingly dependent on the availability of high quality, high performance, affordable materials of construction. Today, the requirements placed on a new material for a high performance structural application extend well beyond the improvement of one or more material properties. This makes the introduction of a new material a multi-faceted activity. Modern structural materials derive their performance from a combination of composition and processing, the results of which are inextricably intertwined. This statement pertains to both metallic alloys and to fiber reinforced composite materials. In addition, material cost and the reproducibility of material properties are becoming more central as acceptance criteria for incorporating new materials into new products. This paper will use examples of recent developments in materials for aircraft gas turbines to depict the materials introduction process. Some of these developments have been successful and others have not. These examples illustrate the changing picture that represents the successful introduction of a new structural material, even in a high performance, high value product such as a gas turbine. Specific examples will include metal matrix composites, Ni-base alloys and improved reliability Ti alloys. The basis for successful introduction, or lack thereof will be discussed. While the examples are specific to gas turbines, they are generally instructive and depict the growing complexity of the process of developing and introducing new materials into a high value product. An additional issue for all new materials introduction is the time required to achieve product readiness. As the time required for product design decreases, there has been little commensurate reduction in materials development cycle time. This matter also will be discussed and some possible reasons and potential solutions will be described.

Abstract:
Two-photon absorption materials containing quinoline ring as electron acceptors: 9-ethyl-3-(2-quinolin)viny-carbazole (4) and 9-ethyl-3,6-bis(2-(quinolin)vinyl)–carbazole (5) have been prepared by the Vilsmeier reaction of formylation and Knoevenagel condensation. Their one-photon properties including linear absorption, fluorescence spectra, fluorescence quantum yields and fluorescence decay behaviors and the two-photon fluorescence excited by 120 fs pulse at 800nm Ti: sapphire laser operating at 1 kHz repetition rate were investigated, and two photon absorption cross-section was measured. It was showed that material 5 containing two quinoline rings as electron acceptors exhibited high two-photon absorption activity and the two-photon absorption cross-section (δTPA) was 364×10–50cm4s/photon, which was about as four times as that of material 4 containing one quinoline ring as electron acceptor (δTPA=81×10–50cm4 s/photon); material 5 possessed longer fluorescence lifetime (τ) of 21.4 ns and larger fluorescence quantum yield (Φ) of 0.81 than those of material 4 (τ=10.03 ns, Φ=0.77). Influence of chemical structure on the two-photon absorption was discussed. Based on the optical properties, sample 5 might be a promising candidate material for the application in super-high-density three-dimensional (3D) two-photon data storage and two-photon 3D nano/micro structure fabrication.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: In recent years, plasma treatment of medical devices and implant materials has gained more and more acceptance. Inactivation of microorganisms by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation produced by plasma discharges and sterilization of medical implants and instruments is one possible application of this technique. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of this sterilization technique on silicone implant material. Methods: Bacillus atrophaeus spores (106 colony-forming units [CFUs]) were sprayed on the surfaces of 12 silicone implant material samples. Four plasma sets with different gas mixtures (argon [Ar], argon–oxygen [Ar:O2], argon–hydrogen [Ar:H2] and argon–nitrogen [Ar:N2]) were tested for their antimicrobial properties. Post-sterilization mechanical testing of the implant material was performed in order to evaluate possible plasma-induced structural damage. Results: The inductively coupled low-pressure plasma technique can achieve fast and efficient sterilization of silicone implant material without adverse materials effects. All four gas mixtures led to a significant spore reduction, and no structural damage to the implant material could be observed.

Abstract:
This study explores the acceptance of different wood coverages on building facades with the aim of optimization of materials, and in turn improving overall sustainability. It firstly develops the principal physical variables and evaluation criteria; then, test models are created using an orthogonal design experiment; finally, two evaluation methods are used to comprehensively test acceptance, based on a questionnaire and an eye-tracking study. The results show that: (1) The effects of the amount of wood coverage and the wood patterns are significant, whereas the effect of material combinations is insignificant. (2) The acceptance of building facades is at the highest level when the amount of wood coverage is 65%. (3) The amounts of wood coverage for facades in the range of 35% to 50% are effective when designing the facade of wood buildings, in order to implement the dual targets of saving wood and higher acceptance.

Perylene has had a tremendous impact in the history of material research for the molecular semiconductors. Among numerous derivatives of this polyaromatic hydrocarbon, perylene diimide (PDI) represents a promising class of organic materials envisioned as non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) for the practical organic photovoltaic (OPV) applications due to their enhanced photo- and thermal stability and remarkably high electron affinity, some of which realize band-like transport properties. The present review guides some of the representative achievements in the development of rationally designed PDI systems, highlighting synthetic methodologies based on bay-functionalization strategies for creating well-designed molecular nanostructures and structure-performance relationship of perylene-based small molecular acceptors (SMAs) for the photovoltaic outcomes.

Abstract:
To mitigate the threat of climate change driven by livestock meat production, a multifaceted approach that incorporates dietary changes, innovative product development, advances in technologies, and reductions in food wastes/losses is proposed. The emerging technology of 3D printing (3DP) has been recognized for its unprecedented capacity to fabricate food products with intricate structures and reduced material cost and energy. For sustainable 3DP of meat substitutes, the possible materials discussed are derived from in vitro cell culture, meat byproducts/waste, insects, and plants. These material-based approaches are analyzed from their potential environmental effects, technological viability, and consumer acceptance standpoints. Although skeletal muscles and skin are bioprinted for medical applications, they could be utilized as meat without the additional printing of vascular networks. The impediments to bioprinting of meat are lack of food-safe substrates/materials, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. The sustainability of bioprinting could be enhanced by the utilization of generic/universal components or scaffolds and optimization of cell sourcing and fabrication logistics. Despite the availability of several plants and their byproducts and some start-up ventures attempting to fabricate food products, 3D printing of meat analogues remains a challenge. From various insects, powders, proteins (soluble/insoluble), lipids, and fibers are produced, which—in different combinations and at optimal concentrations—can potentially result in superior meat substitutes. Valuable materials derived from meat byproducts/wastes using low energy methods could reduce waste production and offset some greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Apart from printer innovations (speed, precision, and productivity), rational structure of supply chain and optimization of material flow and logistic costs can improve the sustainability of 3D printing. Irrespective of the materials used, perception-related challenges exist for 3D-printed food products. Consumer acceptance could be a significant challenge that could hinder the success of 3D-printed meat analogs.

Abstract:
Increased efficiency and emission reduction in modern power plants lead to the use of new advanced materials with enhanced creep strength, with the objective to increase the steam parameters of power plants. With over ten years on market and wide experience related to its use, ASTM Grade 92 is becoming one of the most required materials when high service temperatures are reached (max. 610°C). Its composition, with 9%Cr and 1.5%W, gives rise to martensitic microstructures which offer very high creep strength and long term stability. The improved weldability and creep-strength between 500 and 580°C of the low alloy ASTM Grade 23, as well as a cost advantage over higher Cr materials in this temperature range, make it one of the possible candidates to meet the stringent requirements of modern power plants. Air Liquide Welding (ALW) has optimized and distributes a complete product family for the welding of Grades 23 and 92. TenarisDalmine (TD) focused on the development of Grade 23 tubes and pipes and is working on the development of Grade 92. A deep characterization work of the microstructural evolution and long term creep performances of these high temperature resistant materials was thus undertaken by ALW and TD, in collaboration with the Centro Sviluppo Materiali (CSM). The joint characterization program consisted in the assessment of welded joints creep properties. Welded joints were produced using the gas tungsten (GTAW), shielded metal (SMAW) and submerged arc welding (SAW) processes. Mechanical and creep properties of weldments were measured both in the as welded and post weld heat treated conditions and proper WPS’s were designed in a manner such that industrial production needs were satisfied. Short term creep resistance of cross weld specimens was measured to be within the base material acceptance criteria. Long term base material and cross weld creep performance evaluation are now in progress.

Abstract:
The relationship between perceived paternal and maternal acceptance and children's adjustment was analyzed. The sample consisted of 234 children and 234 parental figures (mother or primary female caregiver, and father or primary male caregiver) living in two-parent nuclear families in Colombia. The children's age range was 7 to 13 (M = 9.7). Children completed the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (Child PARQ mother and father versions; Rohner, 1990), and the Personality Assessment Questionnaire (PAQ; Rohner, 1990). Parents completed the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL; Achenbach & Edelbrock, 1983). The analyses revealed that perceived paternal and maternal acceptance were both related to self-reported children's psychological adjustment. Perceived acceptance from mothers, but not from fathers, was directly related to children's behavioral problems as reported by parents. Results suggested that the effect of perceived paternal acceptance on children's behavioral problems is indirect, and that maternal acceptance mediates the effects of paternal acceptance.

Inappropriate plastic packaging design with excessive use of color and printing ink affected to the high cost of sorting, separation and cleaning, and low acceptance level of plastic waste for secondary recycling. This research proposed design for material value conservation which elaborated with a set of design criteria for rigid plastic packaging production as key solution in avoiding value degradation of the plastic waste. The existing design criteria of products have various approach which affected on how to manage abundant plastic waste with no or very low value of materials that has been generated by daily consumption of plastic packaging. Otherwise, the proposed design criteria conserve the material value systematically which make the post use materials of plastic packaging more financially feasible as raw materials in plastic recycling industry. Widespread implementation of the new design criteria in industry will generate broader impact and more benefits in economic, social and environment, especially for countries or regions with high density of people and high consumption rate of conserved products.

Dyad compounds in which a fullerene [Formula: see text] was covalently linked to a monocationic porphyrin at a N,N[Formula: see text]-bridge substituent, were synthesized by condensation reaction. The low solubility of a dyad containing tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) derivative was improved by using octaethylporphyrin (OEP) derivatives and introduction of an alkyl substituent to the porphyrin derivatives. The energy levels of the frontier orbitals, estimated experimentally using potentiometric data and the optical energy band gaps obtained by the UV-vis spectra, were sufficiently low to be comparable to acceptor materials. They varied depending on the peripheral substituents on the porphyrin unit. DSC analysis of the drop-cast films of the P3HT/dyad blends showed that the film containing the OEP dyad, annealed at a higher temperature, had more amorphous fractions than the films containing the TPP dyad.

Abstract:
This study was set out to analyze and investigate the damaged surface course of a newly-constructed road pavement within the two years after its completion. Because the idea of sustainable public infrastructure in Taiwan has recently encouraged the use of renewable materials in the design phase, parts of this roads pavement structure is composed of recycled asphalt concrete, renewable agents, disposed construction surplus and the like. Considering the complex relationship between the damaged condition of the road pavement and factors such as its load repetitions, its design, its construction process and management, and road management, this study employed an intelligent vehicle for pavement survey, Benkelman Beam method, GeoGauge, and Ground Penetrating Radar to examine the roads pavement structure. After cross-analyzing the results from the non-destructive testing, certain parts of the road and the possibly-damaged structure of the pavement were sampled for material testing. The results from the material testing indicated that the related mechanical parameters of the road sections sampled by the non-destructive testing were significantly lower than the normal standards. Moreover, the results from the GPR analysis revealed that the water content of the subgrade of the severely-damaged road sections was high. The low loading capacity of the pavement structure was mainly due to the high groundwater water level in the surrounding area and the penetration of the rain into the cracks of the surface course. This study proposes that nondestructive testing can facilitate sampling sections for material testing to better ensure the quality of the construction although random sampling is commonly seen in the standard material testing for acceptance of completed work. In addition, the study suggests that non-destructive testing can be one requirement for the acceptance of completed work in pavement projects with renewable materials to better evaluate the quality of the pavement after its construction.
