Finite element simulation of metal cutting processes offers a cost-effective method to optimize the cutting conditions and to select the right tool material and geometry. A key input to such simulations is a constitutive model that describes material behavior during severe plastic deformation. However, the vast majority of material models used in prior work are phenomenological in nature and are usually obtained by fitting a non-physically based mathematical equation to the macro-scale stress-strain response of the material. The GPR approach is firstly used for the nonlinear elastic behaviour. The obtained GPR-based model is verified by the material datasets.

Abstract:
Includes bibliographical references.<br>Since the 1980s, the use of fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in strengthening and rehabilitation of existing reinforced and pre-stressed structures has gained popularity. Versatility, high strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance, excellent creep and fatigue behaviour, and ease of installation are amongst some of the advantages offered by externally bonded FRP systems over traditional strengthening methods. In addition to strengthening for static loading, there are many scenarios where strengthening is required to elements subjected to dyn
