Chujutalli, Daniela. "Maternidad y diferencias salariales en el sector público y privado del Perú Urbano." Bachelor's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/622461.
Full textThis paper analyzes the cost of maternity, in terms of wages, in the Public and Private sectors of Urban Peru. For this, strategies of least squares estimation and Heckman correction are used to eliminate problems of sample selection bias. Also, the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition is used to determine the sources of the differences in wages. The empirical results confirm the existence of a maternity penalty of 19.5% in the Peruvian labor market. When the sectors are analyzed separately, it is obtained that the mothers who work in the Private Sector suffer from a higher salary penalty, in comparison with the mothers who work in the Public Sector. This is due, in part, to the decrease in the requirements of labor standards for private sector companies, with the aim of reducing labor informality.

Full textIn times of changes in the conceptions and practices of motherhood and the clear rise of women to the high spheres of political power, it is necessary to ask what space these concomitant realities occupy in female identities and what are the relationships interwoven between maternal experience and political activity in the subjectivity of these women. In search for the answer to these questions, 6 women who have held positions of high national political responsibility, members of different political parties and belonging to different age groups have been interviewed. As a result, 3 ways of interaction are revealed: separate spheres, spheres in conflict and spheres in negotiation.

Full textThe decline of worldwide birthrate, the increasing of mothers over 35 years old, and the decision of not being mothers from a female population sector are events that occur especially in groups of women with higher education. That is why this research about the motherhood postponement in women living in Lima was based on professional population. To understand these women reasons, the problem took three axes. Professional women life project, their concepts on relationships, and their ideas about motherhood. Professional women life project seeks to know what activities spend their time and what are their future prospects. The second axe show what is the position of men in women emotional satisfaction, housework and their relevance in reproduction and parenting. Motherhood, the heart of this research, shows about the professional women ideas of motherhood, what position they have about these ideas, how they respond or not to social pressure to be mother, and their life proposals. In addition to the literature review, this research is supported on twentysix women interviews, all them from different professional areas, ranging between 28 to 38 years old who were not mothers at the time of the interview. Their responses are the basis for understanding the reason for the motherhood postponement.

Full textThe aim of this research was to explore and describe the relationship between the history of parental childcare and control and the ideal maternal sensitivity in incarcerated women in a high-security prison in Lima, Peru. In addition, this research describes the characteristics of parental childcare and control. We will also describe behaviors of care and control of an ideal sensitive mother. Finally, there were comparisons between the ideal maternal sensitivity between women mothers and non-mothers. For this purpose, 38 women were evaluated: mothers and non-mothers, between the ages of 18 and 46. (M=29.97, D.E.=7.35). For the evaluation, we used the Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers Q-Sort (MBQS) by Posada, Moreno and Richmond (1998), in the reality of ideal reports, and the Parental Bonding Instrument by Parker, Tupling and Brown (1979). The results obtained showed that participating mothers approach the parental style called absent or weak link (Parker et al., 1998). In addition, they reported that an ideal sensitive mother is characterized by offering the secure-base support and the contribution to harmonious interaction. On the other hand, they expressed that it is not a sensitive maternal characteristic to assume with irritability and impatience the demands of the child. The comparison of the maternal sensitive ideal in mothers and non-mothers, did not show significant differences. Finally, in relation with the general objective no significant differences were found in the relationships between the histories of parental care and control and the ideal sensitive mother.

Full textThe research explored the perception of motherhood in professional adult women who postpone being mothers. Perceptions were approached through a qualitative study with phenomenological design in three case studies. An in-depth interview was conducted by each of the three professional women with a successful career, residents of Metropolitan Lima of socioeconomic level A and B +, who ranged between 35 and 40 years old and without fertility problems. The results indicated that the postponement of motherhood responds to the social environment, the role of motherhood and the ideal that it fulfills. It was concluded that the main causes for which the woman chooses to postpone motherhood are internalized discourses, early identifications, the feeling of giving up themselves, the fantasies of hatred towards the future baby and not fulfilling family ideals

Full textThe present research had the primary aim of describe the characteristics of maternal sensitivity in a group of aymara mothers. Also, it had the secondary aim to determinate the existence of difference related to the gender of the children, the age of the mother and place of residence (Lima or Puno). For this purpose, 14 mothers aged between 21 and 41 years (M = 30.93, DE = 5.57) and children aged between 36 and 60 months (M = 45.00, DE = 8.54) participated in this study, belonging to the community of Chucuito situated on the district of Puno, Department of Puno. The Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers Q-Set was used to observe maternal sensitivity. The results indicated lowers levels of maternal sensitivity and contribution to harmonious interaction, secure base support, supervision/monitoring, and limit setting than the theoretical ideal about a sensitive mother. The results also show similar maternal behavior related to support the context exploration of the children. Finally, the mothers show superior levels of secure base support and limit setting with boys. The mothers with ages near to thirties show superior levels of global sensitivity than mothers with ages about forties.
