Abstract:
After the financial crisis of 2008, the goodness of mathematical models became strongly questionable. One of the main targets of the attacks was the application of the Gaussian copula. The risk measures proposed were the Value at Risk (VaR) and Conditional Value at Risk (CVaR). We show how the values of these risk measures are influenced by different kinds of dependency structures, which are modelled by different copulas. Archimedean copulas are used for modelling tail dependences and asymmetrical dependencies. We present their impact on the portfolio’s probability distribution. We explain why

Importance sampling algorithms are constructed by using mixtures of the original distribution with some other state-dependent distributions. Sufficient conditions under which the relative error of such algorithms is bounded are found, and the bound is calculated. A new mixture algorithm based on scaling of the original distribution is presented and compared to existing algorithms. In the second paper, Monte Carlo simulation of quantiles is treated.

The purpose of document is to provide readers with the coding protocol that authors used to code nine group and single case design intervention studies focused on proportional reasoning interventions for students (grades 5-9) with learning disabilities (LD) or mathematics difficulty (MD). The studies yielded intervention effects ranging from g = −0.10 to 1.87 and from Tau-U = 0.88 to 1.00. We coded all of the studies for variables in the following categories: study information, intervention features, dependent measures, participant demographics, LD and MD criteria and definitions, instructiona

Abstract:
We introduce KANICE, a novel neural architecture that combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (KAN) principles. KANICE integrates Interactive Convolutional Blocks (ICBs) and KAN linear layers into a CNN framework. This leverages KANs’ universal approximation capabilities and ICBs’ adaptive feature learning. KANICE captures complex, non-linear data relationships while enabling dynamic, context-dependent feature extraction based on the Kolmogorov-Arnold representation theorem. We evaluated KANICE on four datasets: MNIST, Fashion-MNIST, EMNIST, and SVHN, compa

Abstract: Neural computation and learning theory provide the foundational principles for understanding how artificial and biological neural networks encode, process, and learn from data. This research explores expressivity, computational dynamics, and biologically inspired AI, focusing on theoretical expressivity limits, infinite-width neural networks, recurrent and spiking neural networks, attractor models, and synaptic plasticity. The study investigates mathematical models of function approximation, kernel methods, dynamical systems, and stability properties to assess the generalization capa

Abstract:
The natural gas industry operates over 8000 stationary large bore (bore greater than 14 in) natural gas engines for natural gas compression on pipelines and power generation. As emissions regulations become increasingly more stringent, the need for low cost methods for compliance demonstration arises. A PEMS model is one such approach. Research in this area has increased significantly during the last decade. PEMS models for this application utilize parameters commonly measured on industrial engines in the field to predict engine-out emissions. Monitoring emissions in this manner represents a s
