In engineering technology and other scientific-based education, lab-based courses play a crucial role (Ma & Nickerson, 2006). Even though laboratory experience in student learning is crucial, it faces some problems. Due to insufficient laboratory conditions that lead to overcrowding and inability to view demonstrations, the effectiveness of hands on experience declines (Tiwari & Singh, 2011; Tuysuz, 2010). The ability to critically evaluate quantitative research outcomes is an essential skill for effective decision-making, particularly in the health and behavioral sciences, where the focus is on evidence-based practice and clinical judgment. Introductory college-level statistics courses can serve as a vehicle for engendering these competencies. In this regard, the first course in statistics has been targeted for reform, aimed at building a meaningful foundation for statistical thinking. There is a consensus among educators that the goal of the introductory statistics course should be to foster s

The technology of the automated pedagogical diagnostics is analysed. The testing strategy, oriented for pedagogical diagnostics purpose, and grading algorithm, which corresponds to Ukrainian school grading standards, are suggested. "Expert 3.05”software for automated pedagogical testing is designed. The methods of administration of the database of the test items are proposed. Some tests on the mathematical topics are prepared with "Expert 3.05". The approbation of these tests in the educational process of Kharkov National Pedagogical University named after G.S.Skovoroda is analysed.
