Abstract:
The MatLab package and its extension in the form of Simulink block modeling system form a visual and effective tool for modeling complex and intelligent systems. This bundle provides one of the most effective ways to reduce the time to determine optimal parameters of control actions in the simulation. A further increase in the efficiency of modeling complex and intelligent systems can be achieved through the use of high-level programming languages. The purpose of the study is to consider the methods of interaction between MatLab and Simulink with programs in high-level languages C and C++. to improve the efficiency of the modeling process. Methods and means. Interaction between the MatLab and Simulink packages is implemented using the following methods: executing a file from the S-model window, as well as by launching the S-model from the MatLab command line or from an m-file, followed by processing the simulation results using MatLab software and C or C programming languages ++. Results. A practical implementation of the interaction of these tools (Matlab + Simulink + high-level programming languages C or C++) has been completed. Practical significance. Software implementations for creating S-functions of levels 1 and 2 are presented with a demonstration of the results of work and the implementation of S-functions in a high-level language is considered. The proposed organization of the interaction between MatLab, Simulink and C or C++ languages makes it possible to increase the system simulation efficiency.

Abstract:
In this paper, the magnetic force actuator (MFA), a new type of actuator, is applied for long stroke driving with simple structure and high reliability. Ansys and Matlab are adopted to study its static and dynamic characteristics and conduct parameter design. The static simulation concludes static magnetic field, end shield material, structure size of permanent magnet and processing deviation of the actuator, which will impact the characteristics of the actuator in varying degrees. Then the state equations describing the dynamic characteristics of MFA are solved by four-order Runge-kutta method and finite-element method. Interactive interface of the APDL-file and M-file and Macrosoft Visual Basic (VB) is designed to combine Ansys and Matlab to realize optimization design of structure parameters, which simplifies the operation methods and enhances the efficiency. The dynamic simulation results show its good work performance compared with the experiment characteristics of practical 40.5kV SF6 circuit breaker with the spring mechanism.

Abstract:
Business Process Model and Notation is known as a widely used standard for business processes modeling. However, its main drawback is that it lacks formal semantics, leading to some undesirable properties, such as livelocks and deadlocks, such that it creates models with semantic errors. In order to formally verify them, we need to transform it onto a formal language, for example, Petri nets. The approach proposed in this article is an extension of previous approaches stated in the literature by adding probability to gateways and time to transitions. The first aim is to transform the Business Process Model and Notation process diagram onto Petri nets automatically using a developed software package. The developed software package is capable of transforming the XML file of a Business Process Model and Notation process diagram into “m” files of a Petri net. The “m” files of the Petri net are then coupled with the General Purpose Petri Net Simulator (GPenSIM) for analysis in MATLAB. The second aim is to manually transform the Business Process Model and Notation process diagram using mapping figures onto Petri nets and then analyze it using Timed Petri Net Analyzer tools. The advantage of transforming a Business Process Model and Notation diagram automatically is that we can add time to transitions and probability to gateways. Furthermore, the simulation time can be checked using MATLAB.

Abstract:
In the area of Linear Programming Problem (LPP), modeling of Transportation Problem (TP) is fundamental in solving most real life problems as far optimization is concerned. MATLAB is used for treating programming of LPP, a condition referred to as M-File that can result from codes. The Paper discusses to study TP that would calculate the use of MATLAB codes using a mathematical modeling. The model develops the transportation solution for the North West Corner Rule, Least Cost Method, Vogel’s Approximation Method, and Modi method for the TP. It is clear that a lot of effort has been involved in by many researchers in inquire about of appropriate solution methods to such problem. Furthermore, analytical approach and MATLAB coding are the methods used by most researchers in the application of these efficient proposed techniques. In this paper, an equivalent MATLAB coding was written that would support in the computation of such problems with easiness especially when the problem at LPP and TP. For each model, we use a combination of analytical method and MATLAB coding to study the easiest way that would be efficient while find the solution of different problems. MATLAB is the powerful computational tool in operation research. The MATLAB coding method is better than analytical method for solving TP. This model gives us good result in Transportation problem.

Abstract:
In this paper, a hybrid topology of FACTS devices has been investigated to improve stability features of static voltage. The primary assumption is a power system which has been located under SVC parallel compensation. HPFC forms a hybrid controller using IPFC series converters as a hybrid with existing parallel and passive compensator (SVC) in power system. Thus, simultaneous and independent control of active power flow can be reached through transmission lines and the exchanged reactive power values towards sending and receiving line. Using a hybrid structure makes the use of convertors to improve performance of the old and existing compensators in the power system possible. In this study, the power injection model (PIM) has been used to model series-parallel parts of hybrid power flow controller in Newton-Raphson load flow, and all have been simulated in M-file environment of MATLAB software. In order to investigate the effect of this controller on stability properties of static voltage, P-V curve of PQ buses of a prototype system has been evaluated in a continuous power flow (CPF) in M-file environment of MATLAB software. In the section of simulation results, SVC parallel compensation and UPFC series-parallel compensation are compared in terms of the amount of losses, active and reactive power, and improvement of the system’s loading limit with the proposed hybrid structure.

Abstract:
Abstract&mdash; An accurate epileptic seizure detector using intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG) recordings, suitable for low power wearable/implantable applications, is presented. Eleven time-domain features with low hardware complexity are employed in the feature pool of the seizure detector. A novel two-step feature ranking algorithm based on maximum discrimination minimum redundancy (MDMR) is proposed to identify the most discriminating features in a patient-specific manner during a training phase. Subsequently, the top-ranked features are extracted in a two-stage energy-efficient architecture in which the second stage is activated by a controller to avoid unnecessary energy consumption imposed by multiple feature extraction during the long period of non-seizure states. The effective number of features which are continuously extracted is reduced in this work. Moreover, a patient-specific data reduction technique which selects the most informative and discriminating iEEG channels is also proposed. The presented channel selection technique reaches 68% data reduction on average for the tested patients and reduces the computational complexity. The proposed algorithm is implemented on Cyclone V FPGA of Terasic DE10-standard board. It is tested on twelve patients with shortterm and long-term seizures from the Bern Inselspital dataset. The FPGA implementation results reveal an excellent sensitivity of 100% for all patients and remarkable specificity and detection delay improvement compared to the state-of-the-art. The average dynamic power consumption is 0.49mWwhich is in the acceptable range for low-power wearable/implantable applications. In addition, a new figure-of-merit (FoM_SD) is defined to consider the major parameters of the seizure detectors. The outstanding FoM_SD of this work is 0.464 which outperforms the state-of-the-art. &nbsp; <strong>Files and How to use them:</strong> In TBCAS 2022 folder, Two Matlab .m files are included. In this paper, a hybrid methodology based on modified nodal analysis (MNA) and genetic algorithm (GA) is presented for simplified symbolic small-signal analysis of analog circuits containing semiconductor devices like MOSFETs. At first, the circuit is analyzed by the MNA, and the derived exact continuous-time transfer function is automatically simplified via GA. We propose a new multi-objective criterion for symbolic simplification of continuous-time transfer functions, which can be performed by such optimization algorithms as local-search algorithms, heuristic algorithms, swarm-intelligence algorithms, etc. In this paper, GA is used to validate the proposed simplification criterion. All processes including netlist text pre-processing, symbolic analysis via MNA, post-processing, and simplification via GA are consecutively run in an m-file MATLAB program. The comparison of obtained numeric results with HSPICE demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed methodology.

Abstract:
Robotics has become relatively accessible with low-cost projects, but there is still a need to create models that accurately represent the robot's physical behavior. Creating a virtual platform allows us to test behavioral algorithms using artificial intelligence. In addition, it will enable us to find potential problems in the physical design of the robot. The article describes the methodology of building a kinematic model and simulation of an autonomous robot. The development of a kinematic model and its implementation using several tools are presented. The environment used for the experiment is very close to natural conditions and reflects the kinematic characteristics of the robot. As a result, the simulation of the model following the mobile robot's kinematics is executed and tested in MATLAB. As a study, the m-file creation in MATLAB, its use with the Simulink package, and the solution of the forward and inverse problem of kinematics are shown. In addition to constructing the robot body using Simulink blocks, the structure of the kinematic scheme is simulated using the Denavit-Hartenberg (DH) parameters of the robot without blocks. "Simscape" and "Robotics System Toolbox" packages simulate forward and inverse kinematics using the Simulink package, and the robot's handle and body movement are observed. In the forward kinematics problem, the readings in the Scope compare the signals received from joint one and the end effector. For the inverse kinematic problem, the parameters of the manipulator along the XYZ axes are entered using the "Signal builder" block, and the circular movement of the arm is observed. In contrast, the handle of the manipulator remains fixed at a given point. In developed nations, industries are made to function at control engineering costs via the use of appropriate control schemes for dc motors. This paper introduces the role played by dc motors in industries thereby necessitating the analysis and performance validation of dc motor in Internal Model Control (IMC) scheme as against the Proportional&ndash; Integral&ndash;Derivative (PID) control schemes that is widely used in most industries. Theories on dc motor model, PID and IMC controller were detailed to paved the way for the methodical approach of getting specifications and transfer function for a typical dc motor (model RMCS-3011). Matlab/Simulink software was then used to tune the PID controller for the purpose of finding the values of PID gains that meets the design requirements to achieve best performance, thereby enabling the simulation of the PID controller. Using Matlab m-file environment, IMC controller transfer function was generated and simulated. The IMC controller transfer function aimed at achieving a unity gain that tracks the set-point was approximately realized. In the realization process, it was obvious that a filter is required. The aim of this work is to evaluate the performance of the IMC controller over PID controller. Simulated plots in Matlab-Simulink using the PID gains for the PID controller, and time constants and filter order for the IMC were presented. The quantitative results of the IMC method when compared with that of PID control provides a commendable performance. However, the performance in terms of rise time is small and preferred with the use of Matlab-Simulink tuned PID controller. Conclusively, IMC controller would be the preferred controller where the robustness and accuracy of the dc motor speed control counts more than faster response

The voltage and current signals are transient signals with singularity and mutability when single-phase-to-earth fault occurs in high-voltage transmission line, of which the singular point and mutations parts contain rich fault information. However, wavelet analysis just has the nature of singularity detection and zoom properties, which is very effective in singularity analysis and singular points location. Based on the basic principle of wavelet analysis and signal singularity detection, simulation and detection of singularity of fault voltage and current signals in high voltage transmission line are made by db5 wavelet multi-scale comprehensive analysis method. The singularity detection and calculation program are accomplished in M-file form by programming in MATLAB, the simulation results show that db5 wavelet can detect the singularity of fault signal and determine the fault occurrence and end time fast and accurately. In this research two types of controllers are designed in order to control the speed and position of DC motor. The first one is a conventional PID controller and the other is an intelligent Neural Network (NN) controller that generate a control signal DC motor. Due to nonlinear parameters and movable laborers such saturation and change in load a conventional PID controller is not efficient in such application; therefore neural controller is proposed in order to decreasing the effect of these parameter and improve system performance. The proposed intelligent NN controller is adaptive inverse neural network controller designed and implemented on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) board. This NN is trained by Levenberg-Marquardt back propagation algorithm. After implementation on FPGA, the response appear completely the same as simulation response before implementation that mean the controller based on FPGA is very nigh to software designed controller. This paper presents the research platform for real-time digital simulation applications which replaces the requirement for full-scale or partial-scale validation of physical systems. To illustrate this, a three-phase AC-DC-AC converter topology has been used consists of diode rectifier, DC link, and an IGBT inverter with inductive load. In this topology, rectifier as well as inverter decoupled and solved separately using decoupled method, which results in the reduced order system so that it is easy to solve the state equation. This method utilizes an analytical approach to formulate the state equations, and interpolation methods have been implemented to rectify the zero-crossing errors, with fixed step size of 100 μsec is used. The proposed algorithm and the model have been validated using MATLAB simulation as m-file program and also in real-time DSP controller domain. The performance of the real-time system model is evaluated based on accuracy, zero crossing, and step size.

Abstract:
Faults in the power system generally provide considerable changes in its quantities such as under or over-power, over-current, current or power direction, frequency, impedance, and power factor. Reading data related to both currents and voltages is usually involved for detecting and situating the fault on the transmission network. These days, any outage of power in a power grid leads to heavy financial losses for commercial, industrial, and domestic consumers. Random and irregular faults in transmission grids contribute significantly to events of power outages. A significant contribution of this study is a new technique for simulating a multiple simultaneous faults model. The recommended approach is an effective technique for detection, classification and localization of faults in transmission networks of electric power. To attain this objective, a training procedure and a neural network simulation were carried out using m-file in MATLAB. A virtual bus has been proposed to analyze the fault which happens on the transmission line and bus. This technique has been applied on the IEEE 14 bus and multiple simultaneous faults have been mentioned in this study. The fault situations are simulated in m-files through the two-port network performance method, which is a highly enhanced scheme in comparison to the existing methods. The results have been arrived upon by subjecting different buses to varying types of fault. The results provide comprehensive information regarding fault current, post-fault voltages, and fault MVA on all the buses. The values at the bus for voltage, power consumption, and phase angles were specified. As suggested by the findings of the simulation, the proposed methodology is an effective technique for detection, classification and localization of faults

Abstract. We present measurements of crystal c-axis orientations and mean grain area from the Dome Summit South (DSS) ice core drilled on Law Dome, East Antarctica. All measurements were made on location at the borehole site during drilling operations. The data are from 185 individual thin sections obtained between a depth of 117 m below the surface and the bottom of the DSS core at a depth of 1196 m. The median number of c-axis orientations recorded in each thin section was 100, with values ranging from 5 through to 111 orientations. The data from all 185 thin sections are provided in a single comma-separated value (csv) formatted file which contains the c-axis orientations in polar coordinates, depth information for each core section from which the data were obtained, the mean grain area calculated for each thin section and other data related to the drilling site. The data set is also available as a MATLAB™ structure array. Additionally, the c-axis orientation data from each of the 185 thin sections are summarized graphically in figures containing a Schmidt diagram, histogram of c-axis colatitudes and rose plot of c-axis azimuths. Abstract:
Due to human activities and economic growth, in the last decades, urban expansion has increased, and it has a large role in the formation of urban heat island. Urban heat island effects natural physical properties of the air. In this study, data from satellite images included Landsat5 Landsat 9 and reanalysis data from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) by ERA5 model are implemented. ERA5 archives NetCDF file data for many hourly atmospheric elements such as temperature, wind components, sensible heat flux, boundary layer height …etc. All the files were processed by MATLAB, while satellite images processed by ArcGIS to calculate the spectral index such as Normalized difference built up index (NDBI) and supervised classification. Results of composited images and supervised classification show that there is an increase in built up area of about 23% for the periods from July-1994 to July-2022. This change in LULC will create urban heat island for Baghdad and affect heat budget near the surface that will change structure of urban boundary layer, and convective boundary layer (CBL). Near the surface there is an increase in growth rate of convective boundary layer about 0.25m/s at 7AM for July-2022, relative to 0.136 m/s for July-1994. This difference in growth rate is due to urban heat island creation and will increase CBL to about 620m in 2022 relative to 1994 at 10AM.

The system captures a video of a scene and identifies the frames that contains motion and record them in such a way that only the frames that is important to us is recorded and a report is made in the form of a movie is made and can be displayed. All parts that are captured by the camera are recorded to compare both movies. This serves as both a proof-of- concept and a verification of other existing algorithms for motion detection. Motion frames are detected using frame differencing. The results of the experiments with the system indicate the ability to minimize some of the problems false detection and missed detections (like in a sudden change of light in the scene).
