Abstract:
The present article is devoted to the study of the proofs for the existence of God in the Mu‘tazilite, Ash‘arite and Maturidi schools of Kalam (Islamic rational/philosophical Theology). The arguments for God’s existence have been proposed by the doctors of Kalam are explicated in the context of their substantiation for the Quran’s assertion that God is First principle and the Ultimate cause of all creation. Of the many proofs for God’s existence — the cosmological, the teleological, and the ontological — only the cosmological type of argument was mostly pressed into service by Muslim theologians. The argument from design, though not overlooked completely, was not used as an independent proof for God’s existence. Some of the prominent As’arite thinkers, like al Ghazalī, combined kalam proofs with philosophical arguments for God’s existence have been utilized in the Islamic Peripatetic School. Special attention is given to the proofs for the existence of God proposed by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi (853–944), the founder and eponym of Maturidi Sunni Kalam school named after him. The analysis of his arguments is relevant due to the fact that Maturidi theological doctrine was the dominant source of theology, followed by most Sunni Hanafi Muslims in Central Asia, Kazakhstan, the Volga-Ural region, the European Part and Western Siberia of the former Russian Empire.

Abstract:

Abstract:
According to Islamic theology, al-Maturidi is one of the three prominence Muslim theologians of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamâ’ah who are called as aqtab madhhab Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamâ’ah (the leaders of Sunnite school of thought). In addition to his reputation as a theologian, al-Maturidi actually has compe-tency in various Islamic sciences. In the Qur’anic exegesis, he has Ta’wîlat Ahl al-Sunnah or Ta’wîlat Alquran. This article is going to elucidate the features of his work that encompass at least seven characteristics. Al-Maturidi prefers to combine the naqli and ‘aqli sources. Consequently, it can be identified as tafsîr bi al-izdîwaj (the exegesis which amalgamates tafsîr bi al-ma’thur with tafsîr bi al-ra’y). He is not an excessive interpreter in using grammatical analysis to interpret the Qur’anic verses. He sometimes presents many styles of qirâ’ah (recitation of the Qur’an) without thorough explanation. He almost never takes Isra’iliyyat (the Judeo-Christian traditions and tales) to interpret the Qur’anic verses. He favors tawassut (nonaligned and independent standpoint) when dealing with many different viewpoints among the theologians. He tends to follow the Hanafite school of thought in discussing the jurisprudential Qur’anic verses. He applies asbab al-nuzul (the causes of revelation) loosely

<p align="center"><strong>The Argument of “al-Fitrah” to Prove The Existence of God</strong></p><p align="center"><strong>Accordingto al-Maturidi</strong></p><p><strong>Abstract </strong></p><p>Al-Maturidi is one of the foremost and most important thinkers in the history of Islamic thought. So that Al-Maturidi (333/944) is the most powerful figure in Abu Khanife School and has the biggest share in the establishment of Followers of Sunnah kalam. The aim of this study is to interpret the concept of "al-fitrah", "fitratallah" (nature) and to investigate the possibility of rational knowing the existence of God with an intrinsic element of human (al-fitrah) according to the thinking of Al-Maturidi.</p><p>The whole characteristics of all creatures, especially human being, brought by the genesis called “nature”(al-fitrah). The concept of al-fitrah contains all of beings in the world; accordingly, al-fitrah symbolizes creation of human. Humans are endowed with many biological, mental and spiritual abilities by born, not a result of work. Man also has innate moral-religious abilities that one of them is “nature/fitrah”. As a common agreement among psychologists and psychologists of religion, human is a believer as well as a thinker. This feature of believing comes from his nature. In the same way, Al-Maturidi believed that human have some dispositions from the birth. According to Al-Maturidi, creation is the consciousness of existence and uniqueness of God that is temperamental in all human beings. This feature of believing is inherent but the framework of this ability has not been determined yet. According to Al-Maturidi, God provides human a several inner qualities such as reason/aql, senses and feelings. These inner supports are actually facilities for human. With reference to the idea that the human is a cognizant (rational) creature, Al-Maturidi argues that he has reasonable and fair reasons for believing in a Creator; and he also uses the evidences such as “disposition" (skills coming with creation) that he links with the term nature (Khilkah). Talkingabout the fitrah of human is talking to the meaning and purpose the existence of human. Meaningfulness and purposefulness is the first law of the creation. Nature and dispositions, skills of human would indicate that there is a meaning and purpose, and hence points to the existence of God. In short, this article explores arguments of Maturidi regarding his opinions on knowing the existence of God by the fitrat/nature.

Islam, Tajul. "Scholastic traditional minimalism : a critical analysis of Intra-Sunni sectarian polemics." Thesis, University of Exeter, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10871/18952.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis is an analytical exploration of the influence of medieval theology on contemporary scholastic traditionalist polemics within Sunni Islam. Intra-Sunni sectarian polemics as an emerging area of study is relatively untouched as opposed to sectarian violence. A detailed mapping of the theological terrain from the genesis of Sunni ‘orthodoxy’ and the perennial tensions within the classical theological tradition and how they have manifested parochially into the contemporary scholastic traditionalist trends of the Barelwi, Deobandi, Ahl-i-Ḥadīth and Wahhābī within the backdrop of the Sufi-Salafi contestation of Sunni authenticity is timely. Concern regarding growing extremism prompted Muslim Ulama, academics and political leaders to create unity initiatives such as the Amman Message and the Sunni Pledge in dealing with this problem and also delineating ‘orthodoxy’. The theological basis for these neo-credos can be explained as doctrinal ‘minimalism’. Minimalism is a growing social construction of scholastic traditionalists through which the warring factions are attempting to salvage the historical continuity with ‘orthodoxy’ and placate Sunni infighting. The thesis aims to examine the theological veracity of the minimalism project and explore its doctrinal, methodological and ethical facets. Polemicism and excommunication is the current state of affairs within Sunni theological discourse. Minimalism is deemed as the antidote to this problem.

Abstract:
This thesis addresses issues related to training and orientation of a person during their life through the notion of maturity and psychological research involving this term scientific effort. Everyone’s life, is indeed, “a story marked” by several transition that mark the individual evolution, the theory has fallen heavily on two key and essential in training, decision making and directory of individuals: maturity and transition; maturity as prior preparation for decision making regarding training and employment and transition as an event and development process that transforms the lives, roles, relationship, habits, representation of person. The interweaving of these two concepts at each stage of development enables people to embrace the world of meaning accord according to different aid practices and strategies to facilitate the ownership and creation of a directory of resources forecasts of possible orientation shot, medium and long term. Notion of maturity allowed me to conduct a survey using a questionnaire shat describes three types of information (knowledge of the business word, knowledge of occupations) using three processes (exploration, decision making and planning). The purpose of this study is to find niches, strategies to enable you Gabonese to find solutions helping to open up and look at information through the of vocational maturity. In addition to this, into this doctoral thesis I have marked two notions: that of the maturity and the transition that combines to allow the construction and development of self identity of adolescents and adults throughout their existence. At the end of the current study of centrality ot these two concepts seem obvious

Fayon, David.

Full text
Abstract:
The bank is a front-line sector of digital transformation and ranks 4th in the most digitally-transformed sectors behind IT, media and professional services (Gandhi & al, 2016). In addition, the burst of data and the need for real-time processing is a challenge for the players to meet or anticipate the needs of customers. In this way, the digital transformation of banks is emblematic of the opportunities and risks of our digital society.Studies tend to demonstrate that digital performance reflects the company's economic performance (Accenture, 2016b). It is therefore all the more important to carry out its digital transformation in order to remain or become a performing bank, especially since the average mortality of multinationals is only 40 years (Schatt, 2014).The question is where are the banks going to be in the value chain: continuing vertical integration or horizontal integration to diversify, buy or make partnerships with technological players or fintech? The prerequisite may lie in the knowledge of their current digital maturity. The model developed in this thesis makes it possible to highlight the strengths of a banking player and its perfectible points likely to feed the transformation strategy for its leaders and the related priorities. The starting point is the methodology of measuring digital maturity of any kind of organization (Fayon, Tartar, 2014) that has been challenged as part of this thesis work. Its axes, which define digital maturity, have evolved and are there to number six: Organization, Technology and Innovation, People, Offer, Environment, Strategy. The reflection has been focused on the structuring trends of digital transformation, and a focus on the case of the banking sector. She has been nourished by academic work related to the paradigm shift brought by digital technologies and those related to organizational design among others. Two surveys (one on the bank of the future, the other on the expectations of the generations in terms of banking service) and a PoC realized as part of the contactless payment on smartphone at La Poste french company have fueled the reflection to enrich our initial model of measuring digital maturity. To build the model, we have chosen to rely primarily on existing work in both areas at the heart of digital transformation, on the one hand information systems where many methodological tools have been developed (CMMI, ITIL, CobiT, etc.) and secondly marketing. Each of the indicators of the initial model was challenged by relying on the literature in the field as well as on a body of data developed for this thesis work. The scope of this measure is of two kinds. The result can make it possible for the decision makers who seize it - typically the actors of the digital transformation (Executive Committee, CDO, CTO, CMO) – feed the digital transformation strategy of the considered actor (thanks to the calculation of the maturity of the 6 levers and globally of the bank to highlight its strengths and its weaknesses, it is then necessary to exploit them in the service of its strategy). But this measure can also have a performative scope. It allows, as for all devices measuring tools, to give an "objectivized" but also "objectifying" level reached by each of the indicators and therefore accompany a reflexive process of digital transformation.A number of limitations are inherent to this thesis work in its instrumental dimension in particular. The internal coherence of the model, although tested by different analytical approaches and tests, is not exempt, by construction, from an arbitrary part. The relevance of the model, even if it has been tested partly with some business cases, remains subject to the test of generalization. In addition, the evolving nature of digital technologies and associated societal changes may make some indicators less relevant. But the performative dimension of the model could then remain

Nordey, Thibault. Thesis, Avignon, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014AVIG0332/document.

Abstract:
One of the major difficulties involved in marketing fresh mango is to manage its quality. Mango quality includes several attributes such as size, total soluble solids content, acidity and color, all of which vary with growing conditions and during ripening. The aim of this thesis is to determine the impact of growing conditions on fruit quality and ripening through experimental and modeling approaches.Experimental studies have revealed that size, dry mass and maturity vary considerably between mangoes according to their position in the tree and fruit load. Measurements suggest that fruit growth is affected by the embolization of sap-conducting vessels. In addition to differences measured between mangoes, our results showed that quality attributes vary within fruits in relation to the maturity gradient.A physical model showed that climatic variations within the tree caused substantial temperature gradients within mangoes that change with the fruit position in the tree. These simulations revealed that quality differences within mangoes are not related to the temperature gradient, except for fruit color. Use of a model that simulates the biosynthetic pathway of ethylene indicated that maturity differences between mangoes are explained by differences in carbon supply and, to a much lesser extent, to differences in temperature. The integration of experimental results into a growth model revealed that the embolization of sap-conducting vessels caused the slowdown of fruit enlargement. Lastly, when all of these models were coupled to a model that simulates fruit growth in dry mass, it was demonstrated that variations in size, dry matter content and maturity between mangoes were caused by differences in fruit load, flowering time, fruit dry mass at the end of cell division and transpiration, rather than by differences in temperature. The multidisciplinary approach developed made it possible to better understand the processes involved in fruit quality and ripening and to open new areas of research

Abstract:
Since the 1980s, numerous studies had shown the importance of stand maturity, especially old-growth habitat features (very large trees, deadwood…) for forest biodiversity conservation. This work led to a better recognition of the ecological function of forests. However, most of these studies do not take account of forest continuity, i.e. the temporal continuity in forested condition. Forest continuity has been used to explain some species distribution. Therefore, ancient forests, even rejuvenated by disturbances, may be of greater conservation interest for biodiversity than recent forests composed of overmature stands. This a priori contrasting relationship between biodiversity and stand maturity on the one hand and biodiversity and forest continuity on the other hand, raises many questions about the most appropriate policy choices to conserve and manage adequately forest biodiversity. More generally, these concepts allow the questioning of the relative influence of past and present human-induced environmental changes on forest biodiversity. To clarify the relative effects of forest continuity and stand maturity on biodiversity, we developed an approach in which we combined historical ecology and environmental sciences. We established 70 sites in the French Prealps (Vercors, Chartreuse and Bauges) in which we crossed ancient or recent forests with mature or overmature stands. For each site we characterized forest continuity and stand maturity and assessed the response of four taxonomic groups: vascular plants, saproxylic beetles, springtails and epiphytic macrolichens. Results showed an obvious lack of legacy effect on both soil conditions and biodiversity. Species were above all influenced by stand maturity, especially deadwood diversity for saproxylic beetles and canopy openness for vascular plants. Soil conditions, through pH and humus forms, had also a great structuring role on vascular plants and springtails, and climatic conditions, through temperature, on saproxylic beetles. Comparatively to previous studies, this quite limited effect of forest continuity can be linked with the ecological, landscape and historical context of mountain forests: high percentage of forest cover, high proportion of ancient forests, low-fragmented wooded areas, past land use being low impacting and current extensive forest management. Overall, our results show that the effect of forest continuity on biodiversity is context dependent and underline the necessity to better account for local environmental conditions, stand maturity attributes but also climatic and edaphic conditions, to improve our understanding of biodiversity patterns in mountain forests

Abstract:
Thesis (MTech (Quality (Engineering)))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2016.
The research study establishes the maturity level of the outage process of the Outage Management Department at Eskom. The outage process started in 2012 to contribute to the effective planning and execution of outages. The successful completion of outages depends on effective planning and execution of an outage. At the time of the research study, poor outage performance at Eskom’s power stations contributed to load shedding of electricity in South Africa. The research problem statement reads as follows: The absence of an outage process maturity indicator diminishes the ability of the Outage Management Department (OMD) to comprehend the current process maturity level. The research question: Will the Outage Management Department be able to identify improvement opportunities if the maturity level of the outage process is established? iv The key research objectives are: • To consider how process maturity enables improvement. • To identify critical elements in an outage process. • To determine what is included in outage planning, control and improvement. • To identify a suitable process maturity model. • To identify a measurement instrument to determine the maturity level of Eskom’s outage process The research study uses a descriptive research design and applies the survey research method. Greener and Martelli’s (2015: Online) Business Research Process (Sources: Greener & Martelli, 2015: Online) is used together with Farooq’s Research Steps for Survey Research (2015, Online). The survey questionnaire adopted from Smith’s Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Maturity Matrix (2013: Online) was used to develop the survey questionnaire. The author developed the Outage Management Maturity Framework by combining Business Process Management Maturity model and a Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Maturity Matrix. The research finding is that a process maturity model can determine the maturity level of the outage process and is useful as a process improvement tool. The research findings rank the maturity level of the outage process at Level 2, Experimenting.

Doyle, Alice. "Understanding maturity : insights into the mechanisms underpinning maturity in gadoids." Thesis, University of Stirling, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/1893/25265.

Full text
Abstract:
Marked shifts in the life history traits of fish have been reported in many exploited fish stocks, with a particular trend towards decreasing size and age at maturity. Though other environmental and behavioural factors have been implicated, the key driver of these changes links to fishing pressure, through both the direct selective effects of fishing itself, and indirectly through the manipulation of important biological and environmental factors. Although reproduction itself has been well described in teleosts, the mechanisms of environmental and endogenous entrainment of maturation remain unclear and it was the principal aim of this thesis to improve current understanding of these systems in gadoids. Photoperiod has been identified as the strongest environmental cue for entraining seasonal behaviours, including seasonal reproduction. Over the last decade, several of the key drivers involved in the photoneuroendocrine cascade have been elucidated in mammals and birds, with the Eya3 pathway merging as an important mechanism for entraining maturation. However, little is yet known of their influence on maturation in fish. In the first study, the photoperiodic regulation of the Eya3-Tshβ-Dio2 cascade was analysed in Atlantic cod exposed to either continuous light (reproductive inhibition) or simulated natural photoperiod (reproductive stimulation) from July to December. Monthly expression was measured through QPCR, demonstrating a strong activation of pituitary Eya3 under declining photoperiod. As this coincided with the onset of secondary gametogenesis, these results suggest that Eya3 may play a stimulatory role in the photoneuroendocrine cascade of Atlantic cod. Although photoperiod represents the most reliable and noise free proximate signal to entrain the reproductive process, it is clear that a minimum growth and energetic state must be reached for maturation to progress. This directed the second line of study – a series of diet restriction trials on haddock and cod designed to investigate the influence of naturally occurring lipid levels in the diet on growth and reproduction, define the “critical window” in which fish assess their energetic state and how this is analysed before commencing secondary gametogenesis, and to assess whether Eya3 is regulated by the growth axis in cod. The results of these experiments indicate that overall size around the autumn equinox is the most accurate indicator of maturation commitment in cod. Additionally, Eya3 expression was elevated in maturing fish indicating a role for this marker in linking the energetic signal with entrainment of the reproductive axis. Finally, an analysis of the physiological and genetic stock structure of cod from the North Sea IVa stock region and westward into VIa was performed. The results of this analysis support previous genetic studies, indicating further fine-scale structuring of these stocks, reflective of the structure indicate by the differences in maturation strategies of the component populations. The results identified both environmental and harvest related pressures which may be driving the current stock structure. The results of these studies greatly improves our understanding of the key drivers and mechanisms regulating maturation in cod, highlighting new avenues for future research.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract The present study investigates the Anambra Basin shales to determine the provenance and maturity of the sediments using standard geochemical techniques. Twelve (12) representative samples recovered from shale sequences of The Mamu Formation and Nkporo Group of The Anambra Basin were studied to determine the sediment provenance, paleoenvironment, diagenetic conditions, maturity as well as the tectonic setting. To consider in detail and establish the inherent constituents of the Major minerals, Trace and Rare Earth elements, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) analyses techniques was employed. The detrital minerals determined are Al2O3 (18.27% and 21.16%), TiO2 (1.73% and 1.63%) and Fe2O3 (2.78% \ and 2.85%), for Nkporo Group and Mamu Formation respectively. The enrichment of SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2 (1.14, 1.94, 3.67 respectively) supported by Chemical Index of Alteration (CIA) of 93.54 & 39.55 and Rb/Sr ratio of 0.57 & 0.40, indicate that the Anambra Basin sediments are matured. TiO2/AL2O3 binary plots, Th/Co Vs La/Sc crossplots, Th-Sc-Zr triplots and Cr, Ni concentration suggest mixed provenance of felsic to mafic source rocks for these sediments. From the log (K2O/Na2O) Vs SiO2 crossplots, a passive margin tectonic setting was determined for these sediments.

Abstract:
This research explores the structural properties of fresh concrete. The work is relevant wherever green, or uncured, concrete must be load-bearing. In traditional concreting, rigid forms mold and protect young concrete, and these forms are not removed until the maturing material has developed considerable load-bearing strength. Conversely, an automated construction technology under development at the University of Southern California, proposes to rapidly fabricate civil structures additively — layering continuous ribbons of fresh unconfined concrete — the freshly layered concrete must be load-bearing immediately upon placement. This is an unprecedented structural requirement, and little has been done to substantiate uncured concrete in such a load-bearing capacity. With emphasis on expedient experimental techniques, early maturity, and time-dependent constitutive modeling, this research develops the engineering necessary to erect these structures safely.

Abstract:
While software engineering relies on reference models, such as CMMI-DEV, to improve its processes and gain maturity; agile teams that wish to sustain agility demand other guidelines to drive improvements. To address this need, in a previous study we have proposed the Progressive Outcomes Framework as a result of a research about how real agile teams evolve in agility. Although we could describe agile maturing mechanisms, we lacked a perception of how handy out approach would be to guide improvements. The objective of this study was, thus, to identify agile practitioners’ perception about the framework. We performed a survey with agile practitioners in Brazilian conferences and analyzed collected data using descriptive statistics. Results show that agile practitioners feel comfortable in following non- prescriptive guidelines, but they still lack guidance on how to improve in agility.
