Reducing food losses in apple production is becoming increasingly important, as the effects of climate change constitute a challenge to food production. Improving methods for determining fruit maturity at harvest leading to the longest storability is crucial, thereby facing more unpredictable seasonal weather conditions. In addition, the increasing temperature is affecting common maturity indices differently; thus, present practice may not be valid. Abstract Euthynnus affinis (Cantor, 1849)) is a type of tuna that lives in a tropical environment, with a neritic climate spread across the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and has exceeded the catch limit. So, the spawning time must be known to show a quantitative index that shows the condition of fish gonad maturity, often called the gonad maturity index. The spawning season or time occurs when gonad maturity index values in both sexes reach the highest level. A total of 235 fish samples were used, with 73 samples of male gonads and 109 samples of female gonads, and 53 samples were not identified

A simple method for determining pod and crop maturity for peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) was developed using percent pod-fill (PF) — the percentage of green-pod volume that is seed. Peanut samples were collected 99–141 days after planting (DAP) for 3 yr from two soil types in the eastern Caribbean. PF of the composite pods and of the individual maturity classes from each treatment was determined. ANOVA, significance of means separation and correlation coefficients were computed. The results from the composite samples were correlated with optimum reaping time (ORT) established from the shellout

Mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) are one of the leading fishery commodities in North Kalimantan and have high export value. One of the factors in the development of ovarian maturity in mud crabs is through feed. The method uses a size-independent quantitative measure of maturity (D), which is the difference between the observed GSI (gonosomatic index) and the GSI expected at full maturity (Q) for a given body weight. We use D to segregate fish within samples, and then to split the samples into maturity groups. These groups often reflect discrete spawning waves. We regress mean D values for samples within a maturity group against date of collection to calculate when the observed GSI will equal Q, that is, when those females
