Ensuring the provision of high-quality drinking water in Bulgaria faces significant challenges, including an outdated and deteriorating water distribution network, anthropogenic pollution of water sources, and the natural migration of chemical elements from rock and soil substrates into groundwater. These factors contribute to water contamination, particularly the presence of harmful substances such as heavy metals, pesticides, and fertilizers, which pose risks to human health. Contamination of drinking water with chromium, especially in areas with naturally high levels, is of serious concern.

Therefore, it is imperative to regularly monitor the concentration of mycotoxins specially aflatoxin and ochratoxin A in the poultry feed and their products. In the present study, we demonstrated that Aspergillus flavus was the major contaminant using DNA extraction and gel electrophoresis. Using ELISA kit for ochratoxin A, Ochratoxin A did not exceed the detection limit 50 ng/kg but in one sample has exceeded the European Union

Abstract:
The AVR pebble bed reactor (46 MWth) was operated 1967–1988 at coolant outlet temperatures up to 990°C. Also because of a lack of other experience the AVR operation is a basis for future HTRs. This paper deals with insufficiently published unresolved safety problems of AVR and of pebble bed HTRs. The AVR primary circuit is heavily contaminated with dust bound and mobile metallic fission products (Sr-90, Cs-137) which create problems in current dismantling. The evaluation of fission product deposition experiments indicates that the end of life contamination reached several percent of a single c

Heavy metals (HM) can be defined as metallic elements that are greater than 40 in atomic weight and above 5 g/cm3 in specific gravity and cause abnormal effects on the biota at low concentrations. This study aimed to assess the levels of HM contamination in soils and unpolished rice grains (Oryza sativa) at three separated paddy cultivation fields in Anuradhapura, Gampaha, and Jaffna over one consecutive season. The concentrations of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb) were detected using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). According to the results, HM concentrations o

Abstract. Crude oil contamination has been proven to adversely alter soil's geotechnical properties, which normally renders it unsuitable for use as road construction materials. Although researchers have extensively studied various ways of remediating and improving the properties of crude oil-contaminated soils (COCS), the differing results still make it a subject of interest. This study investigated the performance evaluation of the effects of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) activated with a mixture of Sodium silicate and Sodium hydroxide on the strength of crude oil-contaminated
