Abstract:
Abstract Introduction. Burnout syndrome among nurses is very common. It develops very dynamically, it is mainly related to the reaction to long-term emotional stress, as well as to the professional work they perform. Aim. The aim of the study is to assess the degree of occupational burnout in the professional group of nurses. Material and methods. The research was conducted among 123 professionally active nurses employed in an outpatient clinic and a hospital in Wrocław. The work uses standardized research tools: Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Work Satisfaction Scale (WSS). Results. Nurses in old age, with longer work experience, are at a higher risk of burnout. Conclusion. Burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Work Satisfaction Scale (WSS) in nurses is associated with higher age and seniority. In addition, a negative correlation was noted between Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Work Satisfaction Scale (WSS).

Abstract:
Abstract. In the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), burnout is conceptualized as a combination of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. However, the factorial structure for the MBI remains controversial. We examined the factorial structure of the MBI, relying on Bayesian structural equation modeling (BSEM). BSEM allows the investigator to take into account sources of influence such as approximately-zero factor cross-loadings and between-item residual covariances. Data from a convenience sample of 5,575 French teachers were mobilized. One-, two-, three-, and bi-factor models were tested using BSEM. Maximum likelihood (ML) estimation was also implemented to examine the robustness of the BSEM analysis. The BSEM analysis showed that a two-factor model, consisting of a burnout factor combining emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and a separate personal accomplishment factor, best fitted the data. ML estimation showed a substantial enhancement of model fit when information derived from the BSEM analysis was incorporated. The MBI appears to be underlain by a unified factor involving the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization items and a separate factor involving the personal accomplishment items. These findings are compatible with a research practice that involves combining the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions of burnout and considering personal accomplishment individually.

Abstract:
Abstract. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is an instrument which has been used worldwide to assess occupational stress in human service professions. While the MBI has been used in school settings, an inventory specifically oriented to measure burnout in teachers was developed (MBI-Form Ed; Schwab, in Maslach & Jackson, 1986 ). A Catalan version of the MBI-Form Ed was administered to 631 elementary school teachers. Several models, including those posited by some studies using the English language MBI-Form Ed, were analyzed in order to test their cross-cultural validity. Confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs) were used to fit all models by maximum likelihood (ML) and asymptotically distribution-free (ADF) estimation methods to test the hypothesis that incorrect use of the ML estimation method could be the reason for model misfit in previous studies. Results show that there are no differences due to the estimation method and support the three-factor structure. Furthermore, a shortened three-factor model of 17 items shows a better fit and similar reliability, and its use seems plausible in the research and psychological evaluation of teachers' burnout in both English and Catalan language settings.

Abstract:
The Maslach Burnout Inventory for healthcare professionals (MBI-HSS) and its abbreviated version (aMBI), are the most common tools to detect burnout in clinicians. A wide range in burnout prevalence is reported in anesthesiology, so this study aimed to ascertain which of these two tools most accurately detected burnout in our anesthesiology residents. The MBI-HSS and aMBI were distributed amongst 86 residents across three hospitals, with a total of 58 residents completing the survey (67.4% response rate; 17 male and 41 female). Maslach-recommended cut-offs for the MBI-HSS and the aMBI with standard cut-offs were used to estimate burnout prevalence, and actual prevalence was established clinically by a thorough review of multiple data sources. Burnout proportions reported by the MBI-HSS and aMBI were found to be significantly different; 22.4% vs. 62.1% respectively (p < 0.0001). Compared to the actual prevalence of burnout in our cohort, the MBI-HSS detected burnout most accurately; area under receiver operating characteristic of 0.99 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.92–1.0). Although there was a good correlation between the MBI-HSS and aMBI subscale scores, the positive predictive value of the aMBI was poor; 33.3% (95% CI:27.5–39.8%), therefore caution and clinical correlation are advised when using the aMBI tool because of the high rates of false-positives.

Abstract:
This study aimed at comparing the psychometric properties of three measures of burnout administered in 320 Greek primary school teachers, namely the Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach and Jackson 1982), the Burnout Measure (Pines and Aronson 1988) and the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (Kristensen et al. 2005). Confirmatory factor analysis tested a three-factor solution for each inventory, consistent to the respective theory. Results yielded a reasonably good model fit for the MBI, and merely acceptable model fit for the BM and the CBI. Overall the findings suggest that the MBI is more appropriate instrument for assessing teachers' burnout compared to the MB and the CBI, which presented not so well-defined inner structure and highly correlated subscales.Â

Abstract:
College student burnout has been assessed mainly with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). However, the construct's definition and measurement with MBI has drawn several criticisms and new inventories have been suggested for the evaluation of the syndrome. A redefinition of the construct of student burnout is proposed by means of a structural equation model, reflecting burnout as a second order factor defined by factors from the MBI–Student Survey (MBI-SS); the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory–Student Survey (CBI-SS) and the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory–Student Survey (OLBI–SS). Standardized regression weights from Burnout to Exhaustion and Cynicism from the MBI-SS scale, Personal Burnout and Studies Related Burnout from the CBI, and Exhaustion and Disengagement from OLBI, show that these factors are strong manifestations of students' burnout. For college students, the burnout construct is best defined by two dimensions described as “physical and psychological exhaustion” and “cynicism and disengagement.”

A MBI-SS modificada apresentou elevada validade factorial e elevada consistência interna (αestratificado0.83).

Abstract:
Burnout in health service staff is a cause for concern since it has negative consequences for the individual affected, the wider organization, and patients. The Maslach Burnout Inventory–Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) has been widely used to assess the prevalence of burnout within oncology services. The MBI-HSS is a self-report measure comprising three subscales—Emotional Exhaustion (EE), Depersonalization (DP), and Personal Accomplishment (PA). This article reports on the first study to investigate the psychometric properties of the MBI-HSS when administered to pediatric oncology staff. Two hundred and three pediatric oncology staff recruited through seven UK Principal Treatment Centers (PTCs) and a children’s cancer charity completed the MBI-HSS. The factor structure of the instrument was tested using confirmatory and exploratory factor analysis, with Rasch analysis applied to assess whether the measure meets the requirements of an interval-level scale. Cronbach alpha was used to assess internal reliability. Factor analysis did not support the traditional three-factor structure of the MBI-HSS but instead suggested seven factors. Rasch analysis and alpha coefficients indicated that while the EE and the PA subscales fulfilled the requirements of an interval-level measure for group-level diagnosis, DP did not. Further investigation revealed a “floor effect” on many DP items. Whereas the EE and PA subscales of the MBI-HSS can be used in research with pediatric oncology staff working in PTCs, there are considerable problems with the DP subscale, and researchers should be cautious in interpreting data from this subscale.

Back ground and Purpose: Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. The purpose of this study is to validate the Vietnamese version of Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) for burnout measuring in Vietnam. Methods: using cross-sectional study, factorial validity of MBI-GS was tested by exploratory factor analysis then accompanied by confirmatory factor analysis. Pearson’s correlation is used to check criterion-related validity. Results: the model of three factors structure without item 8 and 9 was suggested as the best fit model with chi-square (X2 = 285.13, P < .0001), root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA = 0.07), comparative fit index (CFI = 0.92), goodness of fit index (GFI = 0.91). Conclusions: The construct validity of Vietnamese version of Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey is acceptable for use in future investigations regarding burnout.

Clinical Question: What personal and environmental characteristics are associated with burnout in athletic trainers, as measured by the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Athletic Training Burnout Inventory (ATBI)? Clinical Bottom Line: There is strong evidence suggesting that personal and environmental factors are associated with burnout in athletic trainers, as measured by the MBI and ATBI. While it is difficult to identify a single contributing factor that increases the athletic trainer’s perception of burnout, athletic trainers should be aware of the characteristics associated with the condition and take appropriate action to reduce the risk of burnout.

This study was carried out with 71 employees from banking institutions in the southern region of the country, who work in activities outside the agencies. The main objective was to evaluate the degrees of Burnout Syndrome in banks in the Southern Region of Brazil from the application of the Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey (MBI-GS) scale. The research had quantitative approach, and nature of research by the types descriptive research and having as strategy the field research. The data collection was done through Survey and application of the MBI scale. As a result, the presence of moderate levels of burnout in the banking sector was identified, according to the criteria established by McLaurine (2008), since it would be indicative of high burnout rates of Emotional Exhaustion and Depersonalization and moderate levels of Personal Involvement in Work. In the theoretical reference, Emotional Exhaustion would be the first dimension to appear as indicative of the pathology, presenting a higher score when compared to the other dimensions. According with the Emotional Exhaustion averages, results were obtained that varied from 1.37 to 3.24. In the case of this study, it was verified that the Exhaustion presented an average result of 2.38, indicating that the feeling of exhaustion is frequent in the individuals who were part of this study. When analyzed the levels of cynicism, the levels found in this research range from 1 to 1.61, finding here average in 1.15, characterizing as moderate level of cynicism. The Efficacy dimension in the Work presents its means inverted by the positive aspect of the questions, with results between 4.13 and 5.24, with an average of 4.83, presenting moderate level of work efficiency. The data from this study pointed to a standard deviation considered high, which shows that there may be a very large variation between very low and high levels of burnout among the individuals surveyed. The mean of burnout was 1.62, characterizing as moderate the burnout index. Regarding gender, there was a significant correlation with the components of burnout, indicating that women have a perception of exhaustion, on average, slightly higher than men. In the same way, there is also a tendency for men to have higher average levels of Work Efficacy. Three types of intervention strategies for the prevention and treatment of burnout syndrome were proposed: individual strategies; group strategies; and organizational strategies. The study presented limitations, even before the scientific and methodological rigor used. There is a limitation in the research as a result of the choice of the researched population for accessibility or convenience, as well as the workers chosen in the financial institutions to form a smaller sample, since internal workers are a more representative group of employees. The reduced number of respondents from the sample also represented a limitation. For future work, it is suggested that the study be replicated with internal banking workers and with a larger number of respondents, allowing a more detailed analysis of each sample, as well as replication in other types of industry or regions of Brazil, making it possible to compare the same and between regions. It is also recommended to adopt other measures of burnout syndrome.

Abstract:
As correlações foram evidenciadas entre Burnout e: tipo de serviço (p=0,032; OR: 0,187), escolaridade (p=0,029; OR: 2,313), percepção do estresse (p=0,037; OR: 1,67) e chances razoáveis de adoecer (p=0,031; OR: 0,279).
Introduction: Burnout syndrome represents an important psychosocial phenomenon of current that occurs as a consequence of chronic stress. It proves to be a very complex and multifactorial phenomenon. Health professionals are among the most affected by Burnout, and among them, are professionals working in emergency services who are constantly working in direct contact with traumatic events. Because of this particularity of service, they may be more susceptible to compromising their physical and emotional well-being and, in addition to individual and environmental variables, develop Burnout. Objective: To evaluate the factorial validity of Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) in the sample, to verify the prevalence of Burnout in health professionals and its relationship with labor and individual variables and consequences for health (illness). Methods: Cross- sectional, analytical, quantitative approach. Were avaluated a total of 282 health professionals (nursing staff, physicians and radio operators) working in the emergency services (mobile, prehospital and hospital services) of a city in the interior of São Paulo (Brazil). The following instruments were used: the sociodemographic questionnaire on working and health conditions, the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, the Stress Symptom Inventory, the Self- Perceived Stress Scale, Psychiatric Screening Questionnaire, Fantastic Lifestyle Questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and Homes-Rahe Social Readjustment Scale. Data were analyzed by means of confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA) and Pearson\'s Chi-square test or Fisher\'s Exact test to perform correlational tests. Adopted a significance level of 5%. Results: The results obtained show that MBI-HSS is a reliable and factorially valid instrument for measuring Burnout. All the items that compose the scale presented adequate asymmetry and kurtosis, attesting the psychometric sensitivity of these items in the sample. The factorial analysis confirmed the proposed three-factor structure for MBI-HSS. Items 9, 12, 15 and 16 presented a factorial weight below that considered not adequate and were removed from the model. The second-order hierarchical model with the mentioned modifications presented adequate adjustment to the data and can be considered the best and most parsimonious model tested according to the indices of information theory. Burnout was identified in 13.2% of the sample and 24.5% of the participants suffered from early childhood stress, 11.3% had a regular lifestyle, 35.5% presented anxiety, 27.7% presented depression, 46.5% had symptoms of stress and 37.9% % have a strong chance of becoming ill and also have common mental disorders. There was association between Burnout and the following variables: schooling, early stress, stress symptoms, stress phase, type of symptoms, perceived stress, common mental suffering, lifestyle, anxiety and depression. Correlations were evidenced between Burnout and: type of service (p = 0.032, OR: 0.187), schooling (p = 0.029, OR: 2,313), stress perception (p = 0.037, OR: 1.67) and reasonable chances of becoming ill (P = 0.031, OR: 0,279). Conclusions: The results confirmed both hypotheses of the study, confirming the three-dimensional model that was proposed for MBI-HSS and demonstrating that it is a reliable and factorially valid instrument to measure Burnout and that some variables were associated and / or Correlated with the outcome variable, behaving as mediators of the Burnout development process

Abstract:
The burnout syndrome among health professionals has been studied in several countries and its association with depressive disorders have been reported by several studies. The results indicate validity for burnout, differentiating it from depression and on the other hand, association between burnout and depressive symptomatology. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey (MBI-HSS) has been the most used instrument to evaluate burnout. The three-factor structure of the MBI has been confirmed in several samples from different countries. However, we did not find studies investigating the influence of depression on the psychometric characteristics of the MBI-HSS. Therefore, we investigated the validity of the MBI-HSS in a sample of 521 nursing assistants in a university hospital using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency (Cronbachs alpha coefficient). The total sample was divided into a group with major depression and one without major depression. Both the total sample and the subsamples showed high values of Cronbach\'s alpha for the subscale of emotional exhaustion and intermediate values for the subscales of personal accomplishment and depersonalization. The Scree plot analysis, unlike exploratory factor analysis without fixing the factors, indicated the three-factor solution, as in the original MBI-HSS. Settling into three factors, the exploratory factor analysis revealed the highest load factor in Emotional Exhaustion (EE) of two items in the subsample of Depersonalization (DE) with major depression but not in the subsample without major depression. In contrast, items 6 and 16 of EE had higher factor loading in DE in the subsample without depression but not in the sample with depression. Our results indicate that the presence of major depression may influence the psychometric properties of the MBI-HSS. We suggest that researchers consider the evaluation of the validity of the MBI-HSS in the sample prior to the use of the MBI-HSS, including assessment of individuals with and without depression separately

Abstract:
The objectives of this study were to validate the Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey (MBI-GS) and the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI), to determine the construct equivalence and item bias of these instruments for employees in an earthmoving equipment industry in South &ca of different language groups, to determine the correlation between the MBI-GS and the OLBI, and to investigate the relationship between burnout and various demographic characteristics. A random sample of 326 employees in an earthmoving equipment industry of eight provinces in South Africa was taken. The MBI-GS, the OLBI and a biographical questionnaire were used as measuring instruments. Cronbach alpha coefficients, inter-item correlation coefficients, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients and exploratory factor analysis were used to analyse the data The results showed that three factors of the MBI-GS and two factors of the OLBI exist for different language groups. Exploratory factor analysis with target rotations confirmed the construct equivalence of the three factors of the MBI-GS and the two factors for the OLBI for different language groups. No evidence was found for uniform or non-uniform bias of the items of the MBI-GS or the OLBI for different language groups. Results indicated that no differences with respect to levels of burnout exist between various demographic characteristics. Recommendations were made for further research.

Abstract:
In recent years, the concept of burnout has been expanded and is currently a concern in all professions and occupational groups. Nowadays it is widely acknowledged that people in almost any occupation could develop burnout. To-date, only two studies have examined students' experiences of burnout. Therefore, research regarding this phenomenon in students seems warranted. The objective of this study was to firstly investigate the psychometric properties of adapted versions of the Maslach Burnout Inventory and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale in a sample of students from a tertiary institution, and secondly to consider the role of biographical variables in relation to burnout and engagement levels. A cross-sectional survey design was used to attain the research objectives. For the purposes of this study, an availability sample of students (N=353) majoring in Organisational Behaviour was drawn at one point in time. The adapted Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey (MBI-SS) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale - Student Survey (UWES-S) as well as a biographical questionnaire were administered. Structural equation modelling confirmed two-factor models of Burnout (consisting of Exhaustion and Cynicism) and Engagement (consisting of Vigour and Dedication). Biographical variables which appear to be predictive of differences in levels of student burnout are home language, overall health status and consideration given to quitting their studies, while engagement is related to home language, academic year of study and consideration given to quitting studies. Recommendations for future research were also made

Abstract:
Magister Commercii (Industrial Psychology) - MCom(IPS)
The social work profession is strongly client based with workers being involved in complex social situations (Lloyd, King & Chenoweth, 2002). Social workers judgement and decision making are influenced by their emotions and the emotional context of the situation. Thus emotional intelligence is a core skill for every social worker. Morrison (2007) purported that in order to be a good practitioner one had to be able to comprehend and mange one‟s emotions and be completely aware of the power of these emotions. Social work thus requires emotional involvement and it is therefore not uncommon for social workers to be emotionally drained and frustrated, which inevitably can lead to burnout (Lukelelo, 2004). According to Howe (2008), on a daily basis social workers face the complex world of human behaviour within the social context. Within this world relationships are broken, emotions run high and personal needs may not be met. However, Kinman and Grant (2010) postulated if social workers possessed the correct emotional and social competencies it would assist them in coping with the stressors of the profession and could reduce psychological distress and enhance well-being.

Abstract:
Caring for persons with any severe and complex illness in increasingly complex healthcare environments can lead to clinician distress and burnout and at times bereavement overload. The physicians, nurses, social workers, case managers, mental health clinicians, counselors, and other caregivers of persons with HIV are faced with additional factors, including potential for needle sticks and other occupational hazards. This chapter defines and describes the multifactorial nature of burnout as it pertains to clinicians caring for persons with HIV and AIDS and provides a summary of predisposing factors, protective factors, preventive strategies, and ways to provide support and eliminate burnout. Assessment for burnout via the Maslach Burnout Inventory is also addressed. The chapter also addresses the question of whether changes in healthcare, including pressures for productivity, increasing workloads, and increasing use of technology in documentation, have had more or less of an impact on HIV physicians than on other physicians. The prevalence and impact of burnout among HIV physicians is also compared to that of other physicians as well as to that of the general population.

Abstract:
Globally, companies are increasingly considering the importance of mental health in workers and their relationship with productivity, which has led to increased research on work stress, which showed that there is a relationship between stress related to work and health disorders, both physical and mental. This chapter addresses the analysis of two of the main consequences that a worker can develop when having work stress: burnout syndrome, measured by the Maslach burnout inventory general survey (MBI-GS) and obesity, through the body mass index (BMI). The study was carried out in 118 people who occupy middle and upper management of the manufacturing industry of Baja California, having as objective to find the relationship that exists between the two variables, using ordinal logistic regression, as well as to characterize the sample using mean difference and hypothesis testing. From this perspective, this chapter can serve as a guide to study the behavior of variables and propose organizational development strategies aimed at reducing and preventing these problems.

This chapter presents a knowledge management perspective to propose a pair of structural models to determine the relationship between burnout syndrome (BS) and body mass index (BMI) among high and middle managers of Mexican maquiladoras. In developing countries like Mexico there are opportunities to expand burnout study on diversity of contexts and occupations. The Maslach burnout general inventory questionnaire (MB-GI) was used, and sociodemographic data were collected as well as the weight and size of respondents. Instrument shows an acceptable reliability index. Structural equation models are used to determine relationship among variables. From a sample of 361 people, using segmentations of BMI, two segments are distinguished: normal weight and overweight. Model using normal weight participants shows more explanatory qualities about the relationship among burnout dimensions than the one using overweight participants. One can conclude that more factors and variables are needed to explain overweight Mexican managers.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Conclusion: There is a negative correlation between social problem solving ability and burnout levels of health professionals. Evaluating social problem skills may allow to identify the ones who may be at risk for burnout; and improving their social problem solving skills may protect them from burnout.

Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze the manifestations of emotional burnout of future physical education teachers and to determine the role of personal determinants in the formation and overcoming this condition. The purpose was specified in the following tasks: to identify the features of emotional burnout in future physical training teachers; to investigate the relationships between emotional burnout and personal characteristics of students; to find out the differences in the sets of personality characteristics of students of future physical training teachers with different levels of emotional burnout. Design and Methods: The research involved 150 students of the college (18.1±2 years) who study in the specialty “physical training and sports”: the 1st year, n=50; 2nd year, n=32; 3rd year, n=37 and 4th year, n=31). The sample is heterogeneous (61.33% of boys, 38.67% of girls). The Maslach Burnout Inventory (C. Maslach), “Diagnostics of the level of emotional burnout” (V.V. Bojko), the modified form of the FRI questionnaire was employed. Methods of descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation analysis, Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance and structural analysis (by A.V. Karpov) were used. Mathematical data processing and graphical presentation of the results were carried out using the computer software package of statistical software SPSS 22.0. Results: The article confirms the assumption about the existence of correlation relations between emotional burnout and personal characteristics of future physical training teachers. The statistically significant differences between groups of students with different levels of emotional burnout on the scale of “neuroticism”, “spontaneous aggression”, “depression”, “emotional lability”, “irritability”, “reactive aggression”, “openness” that are more common to future teachers with high level of emotional burnout are revealed. It is empirically proven that students with different levels of emotional burnout characterized by various structural organizations of personality characteristics, and also that the growth of indicators of the emotional burnout formation is accompanied by a qualitative restructuring of the personality characteristics. Conclusions: The obtained data contributes to the study of the phenomenon of burnout and provide an opportunity to identify further directions of its prevention and correction among future physical training teachers. Subsequent studies will be aimed at developing an individual system of psychological training and support for the prevention and correction of emotional burnout among students.

Abstract:
"Introduction: The coronavirus pandemic has made a huge difference in everyday life around the world. In the education sector, there was a need to rapidly adapt teaching methods and learning to the remote system. In a short time, teachers and students had to switch to online teaching and learning. Research purpose: The purpose of the study is to identify (research questions): 1) Does teachers' well-being and experience in on-line teaching are related to professional burnout? 2) Does the well-being of students and their online learning experience correlate with intellectual helplessness? 3) Are there any differences between teachers and students in terms of well-being during distance learning? 4) Are there any differences in the intensity of teachers 'professional burnout and students' intellectual helplessness due to the duration of on-line learning? Material and methods: 1000 people have been tested so far. By the time of the conference, the number of people surveyed is likely to increase. The variables will be measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the scale of intellectual helplessness of Grzegorz S?dek and personal records. Abstract:
Our research aims at prevention of burnout, which can be a protective factor in preventing career abandonment and can contribute to creating and maintaining a positive workplace climate. It also promotes the mental well-being and resilience of teachers and students. Therefore, burnout of teachers is especially important in Hungary, as the gradually increasing professional and administrative burden, the lack of social esteem, as well as the changed learning-teaching environment and the methodological shortcomings of general teacher training significantly increase the risk of burnout. In our research, the staff of the Somogy County Educational Service Center has been involved, mainly special education teachers. The 116-person sample has been conducted with a version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory developed for educators. In our presentation, the test results are presented. According to our findings, out of the three subscales of the subjects' questionnaire, the highest scores were achieved in the Emotional Exhaustion subscale and the lowest in the Depersonalization subscale. However, the emotional exhaustion subscale did not indicate a high burnout value in the study population. The correlations of burnout risk with age and time spent as a teacher has been also analyzed. Problem-focused and change-oriented psychological counseling models are attracting interest in the international literature today (Egan, 2010). By strengthening resilience and supporting a sense of growth, consultation techniques work to strengthen effective interpersonal communication and help the individual plan constructively for the future (Bonanno, 2004, 2005; Kelley, 2005; Linley & Joseph, 2005; Litz, 2005; Maddi, 2005). All of this are relevant to our research because we plan to provide burnout prevention psychoeducation counseling programs to educators. The literature also mentions the phenomenon of learned helplessness, which has its roots in childhood and is a breeding ground for both depression and burnout (Seligman,1991). Learned inertia can influence members of the helping professions toward passivity (paralysis, loss of control, hopelessness, unresponsiveness) and is therefore particularly burdensome for the individual, along with the challenges of helping professions. Results of our research shed light on the burnout level of special educators, personality traits important for coping and related burnout prevention (e.g., empathy, psychological immune competence) and the applied coping mechanisms that guide burnout prevention psychoeducation as a comprehensive concept.
