Abstract:
This study evaluates the validity and reliability of the Dynomight™ MBTI, an innovative adaptation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), in comparison with the original MBTI. Employing a quantitative research design, the study involved administering both the original MBTI and the Dynomight™ MBTI to participants from the Tulua institution. The primary objective was to assess the criterion concurrent validity and test-retest reliability of the Dynomight™ MBTI over a 6-week period. Results indicated a high degree of correlation between the two instruments across all personality axes, demonstrating the Dynomight™ MBTI's strong alignment with established MBTI constructs. Notably, the Dynomight™ MBTI's expanded categorization system, which includes a borderline category, addresses key critiques of the original MBTI's binary classification system and reliability concerns. The study found that the Dynomight™ MBTI effectively captures the spectrum and fluidity of personality traits, offering a more inclusive and adaptable approach to personality assessment. The study concludes that the Dynomight™ MBTI represents a significant advancement in personality assessment tools, providing valuable insights for personal development, team dynamics, and psychological research.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between lifestyle choices and MBTI. There were 86 participants who recorded their responses on a Google Form. Participants were provided a link to an MBTI assessment if they were unsure or had not taken an MBTI assessment prior to completing the form. Personality is believed to affect our preferences and our behavior. A total of 15 questions related to lifestyle choices were asked, and the data was compiled to determine whether there was a correlation between MBTI personality types and their lifestyle choices. An additional two questions were asked about gender and age for biographical data. To ascertain if personality is intrinsically related to lifestyle, commonalities had to be found within most members of each MBTI type. These questions include one’s usual state of mind, preferred entertainment genre, (prospective) career field, and a multitude of other insightful questions about one’s preferences. However, one limitation of this study was the relatively small sample size to the number of 16 MBTI types. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a popular form of personality assessment that people use to aid their daily lives. Many people use their MBTI type to explore their strengths and weaknesses and improve them. This is done through understanding the role of cognitive functions and their varying strength by each MBTI type. Because people who share an MBTI type have so many behavioral similarities, there may also be a relationship between MBTI types and preferences.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to explore how college students’ MBTI understanding influences their life satisfaction and the moderating effect of self-acceptance on this relationship. For this study, an online survey of 351 college students on MBTI understanding, life satisfaction, and self-acceptance was conducted and analyzed. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and SPSS Macro bootstrapping methods were applied to verify the moderating effects. The result showed that, first, college students’ higher MBTI understanding was associated with higher life satisfaction. Second, self-acceptance moderated the effect of MBTI understanding on life satisfaction of college students. In the group with high self-acceptance, life satisfaction was higher in the group with high MBTI understanding than in the group with low MBTI understanding. But, the group with low self-acceptance showed less change in life satisfaction with MBTI understanding. Based on these findings, we discussed how self-acceptance works in that MBTI understanding increases the satisfaction with the life of college students.

Abstract:
This study aimed to assess the potential contributions of the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to the sustainable growth of communities by conducting a comprehensive analysis of social perceptions of the MBTI in South Korea through big data analysis. The investigation encompasses three primary stages: data collection, preprocessing, and analysis, involving text mining, network analysis, CONCOR analysis, and sentiment analysis. A total of 31,308 text data pieces (13.73 MB) from various sources, including news, blogs, and other sections of Naver and Google, over the past three years, were collected and analyzed using the keyword “MBTI.” Tools, such as Textom SV, UCINET, and NetDraw, were employed for data collection and analysis. The study’s key findings include the identification, through term frequency (TF) and TF-inverse document frequency analyses, of top-ranking terms, such as 16Types, 4Indicators, Test, Myself, OthersMBTI, Situation, and Contents. The CONCOR analysis further revealed six clusters, encompassing themes like interest in MBTI personality tests, application of 16 types in daily life, MZ’s MBTI consumption patterns, trending of MBTI characters, extension to K-Test, and professional use of MBTI. Moreover, sentiment analysis indicated that 68.5% of individuals in South Korea expressed a positive sentiment towards MBTI, while 31.5% conveyed a negative sentiment. The specific emotions identified included liking (Good Feeling), disgust, and interest, in order of prominence. In light of these findings, this study delineates a spectrum of perceptions regarding MBTI in South Korea, encompassing both positive interests and negative concerns. To ensure the responsible use of MBTI, it is imperative to implement reliable scientific testing and education, mitigate the potential harm of stereotyping, and reshape social perceptions surrounding MBTI usage. Only through these measures can MBTI genuinely contribute to the sustainable growth of communities without being confined to limiting stereotypes.

Abstract:
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a useful instrument for team building, strengthening communications, decision making, and for diagnosing organizational dysfunctions. The MBTI is, however, also misued if used for employee selection, or to unfairly stereotype. Misuses of the MBTI and not seeing the instruments' full potential in the organization, stem largely from inadquate training. Training in the MBTI should be expanded to teach how to typewatch, shadow integration, and how to use the MBTI to improve customer relations.

Abstract:
Self-concept is always an essential part of individuals. A personality test can help people recognize the connections between themselves and the mass society. In recent two years, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, has become significantly popular among young people in China. Most past research focuses on the theories and implications of MBTI but does not have a clear investigation of how the wide use of MBTI would have an impact on people. This paper will target MBTI as the research subject, discussing its advantages and limitations as well as the possible impacts on young people in disseminating MBTI. A questionnaire will be distributed randomly to young people from different regions of China, combining past research and psychological concept with the result of the questionnaire to help the analysis and conclusion. The research concludes that young people, mostly in urban areas in China, are highly exposed to the MBTI test. The dissemination of MBTI could contribute to interior factors (psychological aspects) and exterior factors (social aspects). From the data analysis, the reliability of MBTI is still under discussion. In general, most people believe their personality types resemble themselves. However, there are pros and cons that result from the popularity of MBTI. For example, most noticeably, judging a person purely based on their personality test results.

Abstract:
Objectives This study was conducted to find out the main issues and meanings of Korean people's MBTI because two years after the first MBTI test became an issue using big data, and it shows more than just a psychological test. Methods Using the web crawler function, “MBTI” was collected from February to March 2022, and “Personality Type Test” was collected around ‘Naver news’ articles collected from November 2021 to March 2022, and language network analysis was conducted using a total of 3,910 keywords excluding disused words. Results First, the terminal frequency analysis showed that the top key keywords associated with MBTI were certification, education, symptoms, Yu Jae-seok, results, disorders, overcoming, study, counseling, depression, disposition, Korea, lecture, implementation, and operation. Second, as a result of analyzing the topic modeling based on the Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA), the four major topics were ‘related counseling programs’, which showed the types of counseling programs operated in relation to the actual MBTI. ‘Actual treatment and utilization plan as a professional’ appeared to be used in the actual treatment process as an expert as the youth appeared in high frequency. The MBTI Expert Course was not a formal psychological test in the broadcast, so it was interested in the official license MBTI inspection of the Korea MBTI Institute. ‘Celebrity and Issue’ appeared as an issue related to entertainers as MBTI received people's attention. Conclusions This study examined the overall perception of Korean people's MBTI and discussed the implications and significance of the study using it.

Abstract:
English-language versions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Form G) measure of psychological type and the NEO-FFI measure of the Big Five personality factors were completed by 57 Polish university students fluent in the English language. The pattern of correlations between MBTI and NEO-FFI scales for the Polish sample was compared to the pattern of correlations for measures of these same constructs reported for Americans. Four of the five significant relationships between MBTI and NEO-FFI scales reported in the American sample were also recorded in the Polish sample: MBTI Extraversion-Introversion with NEO Extraversion, MBTI Sensing-Intuition and MBTI Judging-Perceiving with NEO-Openness, and MBTI Judging-Perceiving with NEO Conscientiousness. Pending replication with a larger, more representative sample, this preliminary study supports the validity of psychological type in Polish society.

Abstract:
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the relationship between personality characteristics, as measured by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) (form G), and an acute pain response in 107 postadolescent men. Subjects included 107 military school cadets. Each subject performed a cold pressor test (CPT) and was evaluated for pain threshold and pain tolerance times. Each was then evaluated for preference on eight personality characteristics: extraversion, introversion, sensing, intuition, thinking, feeling, judging, and perception. The personality characteristics were measured by the MBT1 (form G). Pearson product-moment correlations between the pain threshold and tolerance times and the eight personality characteristic scores were nonsignificant. The results indicated there was no relationship between the eight personality characteristics, as measured by the MBTI (form G), and pain threshold or pain tolerance, as measured by the CPT, The findings also indicated a low correlation between pain threshold and pain tolerance (r=.25).

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to provide empirical data that reports the association between students? personality type preferences as understood by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality profile and their achievement and perception of satisfaction in web-based learning environments. Data were collected from two graduate level courses offered entirely online using the WebCT learning management system during one semester. The data of interest were extracted from the course information; MBTI profile (learning style), numeric end of course grade (performance), course evaluation (used for satisfaction indicator). The demographic subject profile information such as gender, ethnicity, and age were extracted from the MBTI profile database collection. Data analysis and generation were done using SAS software. For the given sample, the data show the MBTI scale preference for Thinking-Feeling make a statistically significant difference in the satisfaction ratings of Learner-to-Learner and Learner-to-Content interactions within Web-based instructed (WBI) courses. Students with MBTI preference for Feeling rated their satisfaction with Learner-to-Learner and Learner-to-Content interactions in the WBI courses higher than those with Thinking preference. Satisfaction with Learner-to-Instructor interaction was not related to MBTI preference, but was statistically significantly different by age range. MBTI preference, age and gender did not make a difference in achievement as measured by end of course grade in the WBI courses. These findings suggests Web-based instruction should ensure effective methods and strategies are used to accommodate student learning preference with regard to course interactions.

Abstract:
This is a case study of a popular shōnen manga, My Hero Academia, written andillustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. The study’s aim is to determine the personality typesof five characters, while utilizing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The secondaryaim is finding out which details help in the MBTI analysis and which do not. Thethird aim is to look into what are the difficulties of executing this kind of study. Theinitial focus of the analysis was the characters’ actions, dialogue, body language, facial expressions, use of role language and how the manga artist utilizes theJapanese scripture. The final results show that the characters are INFJ, ENTP, ENFP,INTJ and ESTJ types, and that the most helpful methods are to look at acombination of the characters’ actions, speech, body language, behavior, andexpressions. In addition, the method of analysis occasionally depends on thecharacter in question. While the scripture does not help in gaining the results, thechoice of language for the characters gives additional affirmation for the resultsbut does not work by itself to affirm any MBTI types. The main challenge is decidingwhich of the MBTI type pair polarities has more value to the character’s personalityto become the preference.

The project describes the development and standardization of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator into the Greek language. Statistical properties of the Greek version were comparable to those of the original American version providing evidence of its adequacy as a psychometric tool. The comparison of the distribution of types of Greek university students (N = 946) with that of French Canadians, and Americans showed a preference for "thinking" and "perceiving". Further, gender associated preferences for thinking and feeling evident in the American and French Canadian norms were also present in the Greek data.

Schmuldt, Laura. "AN INVESTIGATION OF ALTRUISM AND PERSONALITY VARIABLES AMONGBEGINNING COUNSELING STUDENTS." Doctoral diss., University of Central Florida, 2006. http://digital.library.ucf.edu/cdm/ref/collection/ETD/id/2536.

Full text
Abstract:
Altruism is loosely defined as a desire to help others as well as acts and behaviors towards that end, particularly when no expectation of personal gain or reward exists (Batson, Fultz, Schoenrade & Paduano, 1987). It seems likely that individuals who choose to pursue acareer in counseling might be doing so out of some altruistic interest; in other words a desire to come to the aid of others in distress. It has been noted as well that some individuals may enter the counseling profession based more on self-interest; for example, as "wounded healers" hoping to work on personal issues (Wheeler, 2002). Some researchers (Shapiro &Gabbard, 1996) hypothesize that overstated altruism may lead to burn-out and fatigue among some counselors whereas those who have limited altruism may have difficulties empathizing with clients. Despite the apparent relevance of altruism to counseling as a profession, very few studies have investigated the level of altruism among those in the field. The primary purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between altruism and personality variables in beginning counseling students. It is currently unclear to what extent altruism is a state (situational) vs. a trait (inherent). Grasping a greater sense of what constitutes altruistic behavior among beginning counseling students may benefit researchers in understanding the potential difficulties Shapiro & Gabbard (1996) suggest; i.e., burn-out, limited empathy or even self-gratification. The population in this study was 87 students entering a Master's degree in Counselor Education at a large, public institution in the Southeastern Unites States. The subjects completed the following assessments at orientation to their program: The Robinson-Heintzelman Inventory (an instrument designed to study altruism vs. self-interest in counselor education students), the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior (FIRO-B). It was hypothesized that higher scores on altruism would correlate with the intuitive and feeling dimensions of the MBTI and low scores on wanted inclusion, wanted affection and expressed control on the FIRO-B. The hypotheses were not supported in this study; the only finding of statistical significance was the correlation between the thinking dimension of the MBTI and the total score on the RHI. Suggestions for future research are discussed.

Abstract:
Abstract A novel coordinate system is proposed for the four-dimensional space of scores from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a psychological questionnaire increasingly used in education and business as well as in psycholgical counseling. The new normal orthogonal basis proposed is consistent with the Jungian personality theory upon which the MBTI is based. The immediate motive is to find ways of improving the composition of student design teams.

Abstract:
Abstract A novel approach to the quantitative analysis of psychological issues in design is formulated. It treats any quadruple of Myers-Briggs Personality Index (MBTI) scores as a four-dimensional vector decomposable into components in the usual manner of vector analysis. To make the MBTI scores more understandable to the engineer untrained in psychology, new coordinate systems are proposed in which the component axes point toward human personality types such as “Strategist” rather than the usual idealized psychological concepts such as “Introvert”. Also presented as a semantic aid to understanding is a tentative matrix of oversimplified word labels serving as a bridge between terse psychological designators such as “INTJ” and their corresponding detailed personality type descriptions. The methods are used to analyze results from two American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) faculty workshops on creativity in design education.

Full text
Abstract:
European starlings (Sturnus vulgaris, Figure 1)are an invasive species in the United States. The first recorded release of the birds was in 1890 in New York City’s Central Park. Because starlings easily adapt to a variety of habitats, nest sites and food sources, the birds spread quickly across the country. Today, there are about 150 million starlings in North America. Conflicts between people and starlings occur mostly in agricultural settings. Starlings damage apples, blueberries, cherries, figs, grapes, peaches, and strawberries. Starlings gather at concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) during late fall and winter. Starlings also cause human health problem, airplane hazards, and nuisance problems. European starlings are not protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA).
