A goal of the Swedish government is to increase the usage of renewable fuels and biomass-based fuels. Fuel cells, and especially the MCFC, are useful for these types of fuels. Upon activation, T cells shift towards a metabolic program characterized by increased glucose metabolism in order to sustain proliferation and effector function. Surprisingly, while resting T lymphocytes degrade glucose aerobically to CO2, proliferating T cells metabolize glucose almostentirely to lactate in the presence of oxygen through aerobic glycolysis (the Warburg effect). The MCM helicase plays an important role in eukaryotic DNA replication, unwinding double stranded DNA ahead of the replication fork. MCM is a hetero-hexamer consisting of the six related proteins, Mcm2-Mcm7. The distantly related MCM-binding protein (MCM-BP) was first identified in a screen for proteins interacting with MCM2-7 in human cells and was found to specifically interact with Mcm3-7 but not Mcm2.
