Abstract:
Ion suppression in analysis of tetracyclines in feed was studied. The conventional analysis consists of a liquid extraction followed by a clean-up step using solid phase extraction (SPE) technique and analysis of the tetracyclines by liquid chromatography and mass spectrometric detection. Various strategies for extraction and cleanup were tested in the present work, and the effectiveness to decrease the ion suppression on the MS/MS signals was evaluated. Four sample treatment methods were tested with five different feed samples. Extraction solvents tested were McIlvaine buffer and a mixture of

Abstract On September 10, 1831, Charles Mcilvaine was elected unanimously to become the second bishop of the diocese of Ohio. Busy with parish duties and teaching a course on “Christian Evidences” at the University of the City of New York, the election genuinely surprised him. When the news arrived, Mcilvaine wrote in his diary: I can very freely commit the matter to the Lord. I would not remain here, if it be His will that I go to Ohio; I would not go to Ohio, ifit be His will that I remain here. My heart does not thirst for a bishopric. Abstract On Tuesday, April 13, 1858, the Rev. Dudley Atkins Tyng, son of Stephen Tyng, got up from his books and left his study for a brief walk. He entered his barn to watch some of his servants operating a mill. Unnoticed by him or his servants, the sleeve of his gown caught in a cogwheel of the machine. Before anyone could stop the mechanism, Tyng’s right side was crushed between the gears. “The cogs,” recalled his father, “had ground the flesh from the bone, from the elbow to the shoulder.”1 For a week, doctors tried to save the young minister-having amputated his arm -to no avail. Abstract On 1 November 1895 Jude the Obscure was published by Osgood, McIlvaine as a single volume, the familiar Victorian three-volume format for novels having virtually disappeared following recent industry-wide changes in publishing and distribution practices. That same day Sir George Douglas arrived at Max Gate for a short visit and was alone with Hardy in his study when the first copy of the novel was delivered: ‘The auspices, I remember, were not flattering, the weather being gloomy, whilst Mrs Hardy was suffering from an accident sustained in learning to cycle. ‘
