Abstract:
Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a synchronous serial communication whose data or signal transmission involves Chip Select (CS) or Slave Select (SS) pins, Serial Clock (SCK), Master Out Slave In (MOSI), and Master In Slave Out (MISO). In the Arduino Uno, there are four pins that allow Arduino Uno to perform SPI communication. In this research, SPI communication is implemented to expand the output of the Arduino Uno by using the features of the MCP23S17 IC so that the Arduino Uno, which initially has 20 output pins, can expand to 36 output pins. The results of the research show that the Arduino Uno manages to control 36 output pins. 16 output pins from the MCP23S17, 16 output pins from the Arduino Uno, and 4 pins are used for the SPI communication line. The results of this study also show the form of the SPI communication signal from Arduino Uno in declaring 21 registers on MCP23S17, declaring the MCP23S17 pin register as output, and implementing the output using LEDs.

"Exposure to environmentally persistent free radicals during gestation lowers energy expenditure and impairs skeletal muscle mitochondrial function in adult mice." Abstract:
We have investigated the effects of in utero exposure to environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs) on growth, metabolism, energy utilization, and skeletal muscle mitochondria in a mouse model of diet-induced obesity. Pregnant mice were treated with laboratory-generated, combustion-derived particular matter (MCP230). The adult offspring were placed on a high-fat diet for 12 wk, after which we observed a 9.8% increase in their body weight. The increase in body size observed in the MCP230-exposed mice was not associated with increases in food intake but was associated with a reduction in physical activity and lower energy expenditure. The reduced energy expenditure in mice indirectly exposed to MCP230 was associated with reductions in skeletal muscle mitochondrial DNA copy number, lower mRNA levels of electron transport genes, and reduced citrate synthase activity. Upregulation of key genes involved in ameliorating oxidative stress was also observed in the muscle of MCP230-exposed mice. These findings suggest that gestational exposure to MCP230 leads to a reduction in energy expenditure at least in part through alterations to mitochondrial metabolism in the skeletal muscle.

Abstract:
This diploma paper deals with the data bus line I2C and a supportive demonstration tool for the subject Microprocessor technology taught at the Radioelectronics faculty. The data bus line I2C is convenient when short-distance data transmission with restricted spatial possibilities is required but high velocity of data transmission is not necessary. The tool is compiled in such a way that enables it to also perform other tasks apart from those dealing with the I2C data bus line. The data bus line in the tool is utilized for transmission of date, time, temperature, data for the D/A converter, data from and to the EEPROM memory and data to 16 bits expander.

Abstract:
The aim of the course work is to design and implement a driver for touchscreen LCD display. The premise of the connection the display to the microcontroller using the I2C bus and use MCP23017 circuits. Raspberry Pi B + will be used for communication with circuits MCP23017 via I2C bus. Display TFT_320QVT will be connected to the outputs of extension circuits MCP23017. Part of the display complete is also a touchscreen with XPT2046 controller. Raspberry Pi runs on Raspbian system based on the Debian Linux distribution. The driver will serve to communicate and display information on the screen. The complete will be useable for applications such as selecting settings and show main information on the display.
