Full textImportant factors in manufacturing are quality and cost. Measuring machines play an important role for these fields. In order to meet higher demands on cost and accuracy, measuring machines can be constructed with weaker materials and increased mechanical flexibilities, and therefore there is a need to include the flexibilities in measuring machine models to obtain good performance.
The core theme in this thesis is modeling and idenfication of the physical parameters of drive mechanisms of a Brown&Sharpe Inc. Global A coordinate measuring machine. The approximation made is that the drive mechanisms can be described by a mass connected by springs, dampers and gear changes. It has been found that a one-spring model gives a reasonably good description of the studied CMM drive mechanism. The physical parameters of this model are identified using off-line algorithms. The algorithms are based on prediction error methods. For the off-line identification the MATLAB System Identification Toolbox and the bond graph representation is used.
The chosen model is then used for control. Traditional control and a Model-reference Adaptive System is derived and studied with the aim to increase the damping of CMM drive mechanisms. It is found that the adaptive system has very good disturbance rejection and can correct for drastic model errors. Another impact is that the damping of the studied drive mechanism can be increased with at least a factor of nine.

"Star Acquisition" refers to the process of identifying the star of interest in a field of stars and centering it on the optical axis of the telescope , as well as setting an autoguider detector on a suitable star so the autoguider can improve the tracking performance of the telescope. Efficiency is improved by making all functions remote controlled , so the astronomer does not have to move between the control room and the telescope to operate the instrument.

O desempenho de uma prática segura e eficiente de um serviço de medicina nuclear depende, entre outros fatores, de um programa de controle de qualidade completo, principalmente em se tratando dos instrumentos medidores de atividade dos radionuclídeos, os ativímetros. Um programa de controle de qualidade completo deve incluir a calibração de todos os instrumentos de medição utilizados no procedimento. No entanto, no Brasil, a atual norma que estabelece os requisitos de proteção radiológica para serviços de medicina nuclear (SMN), não inclui, ainda, a calibração do ativímetro. Considerando que estes instrumentos, por diversas razões, são de difícil remoção para envio a um serviço de calibração, o propósito deste trabalho foi desenvolver uma metodologia de calibração de medidores de atividades que possa ser aplicada \"in situ\", para o principal radiofármaco utilizado atualmente, o 99mTc. Foram definidos os parâmetros de influência que devem ser levados em conta durante a calibração, assim como uma logística de transporte dos radiofármacos. Um programa de controle de qualidade foi aplicado aos ativímetros do Laboratório de Calibração de Instrumento (LCI). Neste trabalho foram desenvolvidas três metodologias diferentes de calibração, considerando a logística disponível e também a origem da fonte de referência. Na primeira metodologia poderá ser aplicada nos casos em que o LCI envia uma fonte de referência ao SMN. Na segunda o SMN envia uma fonte previamente medida ao LCI que determinará sua atividade real. A terceira metodologia foi aplicada para calibração dos ativímetros pertencentes ao setor de produção de radiofármacos do IPEN. Neste caso a fonte de referência foi enviada ao LCI após uma medição prévia pelo setor de produção. Foi possível aplicar as metodologias em alguns instrumentos pertencentes a clínicas e ao setor de produção. Em todos eles foram encontrados coeficientes de calibração diferentes entre si. A maior variação encontrada foi de 5%, indicando que a medição com este ativímetro está menor em 5% do que é necessário aplicar no paciente. Verificou-se que a troca de recipientes deixa um resíduo que não tem sido considerado nas medições clínicas, podendo acrescentar uma diferença de até 3% nas medições.

Resumo: Esta dissertação aborda o projeto de um sistema de caracterização de sensores baseados em fibras ópticas para alta-tensão. O sistema é formado por dois módulos principais, um relacionado com a câmara térmica e outro relativo à alta-tensão. O desenvolvimento do sistema deve-se basicamente às necessidades de personalização e precisão para a caracterização dos sensores e outras aplicações. A câmara climática tem seu projeto eletrônico e mecânico descritos, com ênfase na utilização de módulos termoelétricos, nos controladores proporcional-integral-derivativos utilizados e os parâmetros de sintonia encontrados. Foi feito o estudo da configuração que utiliza dois módulos termoelétricos em série, apontando as vantagens e desvantagens desta configuração. A faixa de temperatura para a câmara obtida é de 0 ºC até 70 ºC, com erro ±0,1 ºC semelhantes às câmaras climáticas comerciais. Há a proposta de um circuito gerador e analisador de ondas arbitrárias de alta-tensão, e ensaios com um sistema semelhante ao proposto para tensões de até 15 kV, para validação do método de eliminação de harmônicas proposto nesta dissertação, obtendo resultados de THD da ordem de 0,04%, valor este limitado pela definição do analisador de sinais
Abstract: This work discusses the project of a characterization system fiber optics based sensors for high-voltage. The system consists of two main modules, one related to the thermal chamber and another on high-voltage part. The system development was mainly due to the needs of customization and precision for the characterization of sensors and other applications. The thermal chamber has its electronic and mechanical design described, with emphasis on the use of thermoelectric modules, the proportional-integral-derivative controllers and their tuning parameters. A study was conducted on the configuration that uses two thermoelectric modules in series, showing the advantages and disadvantages of this configuration. The obtained temperature range for the chamber was 0°C to 70 °C with ± 0.1 °C error, similar to the commercial chambers. There is a proposal for a circuit for arbitrary high voltage wave generator and analyzer, and tests with one system similar to that proposed for voltages up to 15kV, to validate a harmonics eliminator method, obtaining results of THD about 0.04% which is limited by the definition of signal analyzer

Full textExamensarbetet syftar till att jämföra nya alternativ till olika system för användning i laborationer i reglerteknikkurser för olika studentkategorier. Det skall utredas vilket av ett antal alternativ till mjukvaruplattformar som är bäst lämpat att användas vid reglerteknikundervisningen i ITN:s reglerlaboratorium vid Linköpings universitet. Tidigare laborationer i berörda kurser skall även modifieras så att dessa kan genomföras i de nya systemen.
Examensarbetet resulterade i en rad modifierade laborationer och system att tillämpa i dessa. De nya systemen medför att all reglering sköts direkt från en dator istället för tidigare variant med externa apparater som programmeras. På så sätt kan större fokus läggas på regleringen i sig och inte de system som tillämpas för att utföra den.
The purpose of this thesis work is to compare new alternatives for different systems to use in laborations, in courses offered in control system design, for different types of students. The intention is to investigate which of a number of software platform alternatives are best suited for these purposes. Current laborations are to be modified to be viable in the new systems.
The project resulted in a number of modified laborations and control systems to use in these. The new solutions are made so that all of the control is done by one computer, as opposed to the previous solution where external units had to be programmed and controlled. This way, the laborations can focus more on the control theory and less on the systems used to realize it.

Resumo: Por serem eletricamente passivos e imunes à interferência eletromagnética, os sensores a fibra óptica estão se tornando uma excelente escolha para o sensoreamento em várias aplicações, como aeroespacial, distribuição e geração de energia elétrica, transportes ferroviários, e equipamentos de segurança militares. Entre outras vantagens está o fato de que os sinais medidos podem ser transmitidos em distâncias muito grandes (da ordem de quilômetros), são compactos e leves. A técnica de medida convencional com sensor à FBG necessita de equipamentos de custo muito elevado, tornando-se inviável para aplicações de baixo custo. Neste trabalho apresenta-se uma nova técnica para medir temperatura com sensores a fibra óptica com grades de Bragg. Resultados experimentais de medidas feitas com a técnica desenvolvida mostram que é possível obter uma resolução de 0,5 mºC em medidas realizadas numa faixa de 30ºC.
Abstract: Due to the characteristic of being electrically passive and immune to electromagnetic interference, optical fiber sensors are becoming an excellent choice for several applications, as aerospace, distribution and generation of electrical energy, railway transports, and military equipment. Among other advantages, these sensors are compact, light and the measured signals can be transmitted for very long distances (in the order of kilometers). The existing techniques for temperature measurement using FBG sensors need expensive equipments, and therefore are not suitable for low cost applications. In this work a new technique to measure temperature with a extremely high resolution using FBG sensors is presented. Experimental results of measurements carried out with the proposed technique show that a resolution of 0.5 m°C was obtained for measurements performed over a 30 ºC temperature range.

Full textUma má qualidade de energia elétrica gera grandes prejuízos para a sociedade. Desta forma são utilizados equipamentos denominados analisadores de qualidade de energia elétrica para quantizar os valores destes distúrbios e assim determinar as causas destas anormalidades. O grande problema destes equipamentos é o custo elevado e geralmente são importados inviabilizando uma medição multiponto do sistema elétrico do cliente. Neste cenário, este trabalho objetiva fornecer subsídios e alternativas para o desenvolvimento de equipamentos analisadores de qualidade de energia, que consiste de um conjunto com sensores de corrente e tensão e um módulo central de processamento. No desenvolvimento de quaisquer sensores ou instrumentação surgem algumas dificuldades de condicionamento de sinal por causa das características elétricas do componente usado e principalmente por causa do ruído. Alguns meios de contornar estes problemas são a utilização de uma instalação adequada dos equipamentos de medição, blindagens eletromagnéticas e projeto de PCB’s. No caso de sensores magnéticos, a histerese, saturação magnética e as interferências por campos magnéticos externos introduzem erro de medida no sistema e para a resolução destes problemas foram adotadas configurações de sensores Hall em malha fechada e diferencial. Outro componente que pode ser usado é o sensor Flux-gate que possui potencialidade para medições de corrente de pequena ordem além de oferecer a vantagem de maior integrabilidade ao sistema medidor. Na sequência foi projetado e construído um registrador de tensão e corrente para análise de qualidade de energia elétrica, denominado PQ-Logger, que pode usar estes sensores mencionados anteriormente. O uso de um DSP e um chip para acessar um pendrive genérico permite o armazenamento destes dados. O PQ-Logger-Tran é outro equipamento que foi idealizado para armazenar trechos de transiente de média frequência. Os resultados indicam positivamente o uso conjunto destes sensores de corrente e o equipamento desenvolvido para o propósito de medição destes parâmetros de forma rápida e econômica na infraestrutura elétrica do cliente.
A poor quality power causes large losses to society. Thus it is used an equipment named power quality analyzers for magnitude measurement of these disturbances and determine the causes of these abnormality. The principal problem with these devices is the high cost and they usually are imported that invalidates multipoint measurement of client’s electrical system. In this scenario, this work aims to provide support and alternatives for the development of power quality analyzers, which consists of a set with voltage and current sensors and a central processing module. In the development of any sensors or instrumentation there are difficulties on signal conditioning generated from the used component’s electrical characteristics and principally noise. Some solutions for these problems is the use of proper measuring equipment installation, electromagnetic shielding and design of PCBs. For magnetic sensors, the hysteresis, magnetic saturation and interference by external magnetic fields introduce measurement error in the system and to solve these problems it was adopted Hall sensors in closed-loop and differential configurations. Another component that can be used is the Flux-gate sensor that has potential use in small range current measurements and offers the advantage of higher integrability in the meter system. Following is designed and built a voltage and current logger for Power quality analysis, called PQ-Logger that may utilize the sensors mentioned above. The use of a DSP and a chip for accessing a generic flash drive allows storage of these data. The PQ-Logger-Tran is other equipment that was designed to store snippets of mid-frequency transient. The results positively indicate the combined use of these current sensors and equipment developed for the measuring purpose of these parameters in a quickly and economically form in the customer‘s electrical infrastructure.

Full textThe development of safety-critical avionics software, such as aircraft flight control programs, presents many different constraints that are nearly contradictory, such as performance and safety requirements, and all must be met simultaneously. The objective of this Thesis is to propose modifications in the development cycle of Airbus flight control programs in order to improve their performance without weakening their verification processes or violating other industrial constraints. The main criterion for performance evaluation is the Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET), as it is used in the timing analysis that is performed in actual avionics software verification processes. In a first moment, the DO-178, which contains guidance for avionics software development approval, is presented. Both the DO-178B and the DO-178C are discussed, since the former was the reference for the development of many Airbus flight control programs and the latter shall be the reference for the development of new programs, starting from 2012. Then, the case study is presented. In order to better understand it, some historical context is provided by the study of other flight control programs - many of its life cycle activities reuse techniques that were successful in previous software projects. Each activity is evaluated in order to underline what are the performance bottlenecks in the flight control software development. Some potential underperforming activities are depicted and the main axis of study developed subsequently is the compilation phase: not only it is a well-known unoptimized activity that has important impacts over software performance, but it is also an activity that might undergo a paradigm change due to innovating compilers that are being developed by researchers. The CompCert compiler is presented and its use in the scope of this Thesis is justified - at the time of this Thesis, it was the compiler that was best prepared to perform meaningful experiments, such as compiling a large subset of the chosen case study. Its architecture is studied, together with its semantic preservation theorem, which is the backbone of its formally-verified part. Additional features that were developed in CompCert during this Thesis in order to meet Airbus's requirements - such as its annotation mechanism and its reference interpreter - are discussed in order to underline their usefulness in the development of flight control software. The evaluation of CompCert consists in a performance comparison with the current compilation strategy and an assessment of the impacts that its utilization might have over the verification strategy commonly employed in flight control software. The results of the performance comparison are promising, since CompCert-generated code has a WCET more than 10% lower than if it were compiled with a good quality non-optimizing compiler. As expected, the use of CompCert has impacts over some important verification activities but its formal development and increased verifiability helps in the development of new compiler verification activities that can keep the whole development process at least as safe as the current one. Some development strategy propositions are then presented, according to the certification credit that might be required by using CompCert

Purpose Pain is an important indicator of health of patients are most concerned about is the question of the purpose of this study was to explore the pain of surgery to change the trend f patients, different pain assessment tools for quality control during hospitalization and post-operative sensitivity of the basic attributes of patients, preoperative ,health-related quality of life and quality control of pain related to the provision of medical institutions to promote quality control pain and correcting the reference. Method This study is the prospective longitudinal study design, to investigate patient response to pain after surgery in the hospital first, three to five days of the change in the quality of pain control trends and related factors to explore. Research tools for the structured questionnaire, a Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), American Pain Society''s Patient Outcome Questionnaire (APS-POQ), Health Related Quality of Life (SF-36), Pain and Opioids Analgesics Beliefs Scale-Surgical Pain Version (POABS-SP). Study for 88 patients have pain in order to SPSS15.0 and analysis of statistical software Stata9.0 cases pain control after surgery the quality of life and overall health information is relevant. Result The results showed that pain was a significant change in the trend curve, after the fifth day of physical pain there was significant difference, the impact of pain on functional activities was on1y significant difference between sleep, and vitality of the status of qua1ity of life within five days after surgery is not restoration; to Effect Size comparison of the differences in tools, results showed that preoperative and postoperative first day of BPI than the SF-36 assessment tool of the Effect Size was a significant positive correlation; to explore GEE repeated measured by volume and the time factor in multivariate analysis, after the time correction control to show pain, function and operation activities, wound size differences were significant; of satisfaction with pain management, with physician satisfaction with the surgical site and anesthesia, secondary education level of significant differences. Conclusion The quality of pain control through the multi-tool BPI and APS-POQ both, in regard to 24h pain or a week pain, whether the assessment is a significant difference in changer which means that patients in the acute pain of the change in the rate of pain is high, so the fifth vital signs to assess the implementation of daily pain assessment is necessary, and after the third day after operation can be used as a measurement of the frequency of future research directions.

Full textThis dissertation is primarily concerned with investigating and improving the degree of accuracy and precision that may be achieved from temperat~re measurements made utilising nickel-chromium/nickel-aluminium (Type K) thermocouples. The practice of heat treating extruded aluminium section creates specific metallurgical properties within section. Development of specialised aluminium alloys has necessitated the use of treatment temperatures,- close to the limit beyond which the alloy experiences undesirable, permanent, metallurgical change. This situation has demanded urgent attention to, in quality assurance terms, the, 'fitness for purpose', of primary temperature sensors. The most established of these sensors, the Type thermocouple, has known problems relating to calibration stability and drift. The substantial amount of furnace control instrumentation and cabling dedicated to measurement from Type K sensors precludes the simple conversion to an alternate sensor type. The more practical option of applying calibration correction factors to existing measuring systems is only feasible if sensor stability characteristics permit measurement traceability to' be established within required uncertainty limits.
