Abstract:
Energy state of composites obtained by mechanical alloying of the Cu-Sn and Fe-Ga powder mixtures during high-energy processing in the planetary ball mill is evaluated by the methods of X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It is shown that during mechanical alloying the total amount of accumulated energy can reach 80 % of the composite melting enthalpy. The greatest contribution to the structuralphase transformations is made by the phase changes of elastic deformations and grain boundaries. The obtained XRD data are consistent with the DSC data. The study covers the phase composition, morphology and properties of coatings deposited on steel by means of short pulse selective laser alloying of titanium carbohydride-based mechanocomposites. Mechanocomposites were fabricated by milling of Ti and Ti–Cu powders in a liquid hydrocarbon environment. The synthesized mechanocomposites and fabricated coatings are investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy. The phase composition of mechanocomposites is represented by titanium carbohydride phase with a size of powder particles ranging from 2 to 30 μm for

The investigations of (Ti + Al)-SiO2 surfacing by magnetron deposition are presented in this article. The correlation between film`s thickness deposited on the particles by mechanocomposites and magnetron sputtering time was established. It was determined that the rational time for surfacing by Ti-Al mechanocomposites system is about 40 minutes. According that deposition time the thickness of deposited SiO2 films were obtained as 5.2 microns.

In this work, the physicochemical properties of mechano-activated composites (hereinafter referred to as the mechanocomposites) obtained by mechanical activation of commercial tungsten disulfide powder in a planetary mill were studied. Mechanical activation was carried out for 2, 4 and 8 h, but this work presents the results for the last two experiments. The acceleration of the grinding media was controlled through frequency adjustment; a frequency value of 15.5 Hz, according to calculations, corresponds to an acceleration of the grinding media of 50 m/s2 or 5G. Mechanocomposites SiO2 / Mg with different component ratios were obtained. It was demonstrated that chemical interaction between the components in these systems starts at lower temperatures. The products of the SHS process with SiO2 / Mg mechanocomposites as precursors are mainly silicon and magnesium oxide; in addition, magnesium silicate and silicide are formed. After the treatment of the product in three stages with different acids, silicon was obtained in the form of agglomerates about 500-1000 nm in size, compoused of smaller particles about 50-80 nm.
