Abstract:
Aneurysmal bone cysts are unique pathologic entities that cause pain and local osseous destruction. Many surgical treatment modalities have been described. This article reports on the case of a 16-year-old high school athlete with left heel pain due to an aneurysmal bone cyst in the calcaneus. Curettage of the bone cyst was performed, and the void was filled with a commercially available mixture of cancellous bone and demineralized bone matrix. Early return to athletic activity was achieved, with no recurrence noted at 3-year follow-up. (J Am Podiatr Med Assoc 95(4): 394–397, 2005)

Study 1 (N = 374) assessed the efficacy of two regimens of valdecoxib on the day after surgery (valdecoxib, 40 mg, with a 20-mg redose [n = 127]; valdecoxib, 40 mg, with a placebo redose [n = 122]; and placebo/placebo [n = 125]), and study 2 (N = 478) examined the efficacy of two different multiple-dose regimens on postoperative days 2 through 5 (valdecoxib, 20 mg, twice daily [n = 160]; valdecoxib, 20 mg, once daily [n = 159]; and

Simulation is a recognized method of teaching in academic medicine. Despite its long availability, only a paucity of information exists regarding its efficacy and utility on patient care and subsequently on patient outcomes. In this meta-analysis, we attempt to systematically study the effect of simulation-based clinical teaching in critical care medicine. A review of literature was conducted, looking across several databases, for any available studies that compare simulation to standard methods of teaching in the setting of critical care medicine on three surrogate outcomes: enhancement of kn
