Abstract:
The topicality of undertaken research is determined by the fact that presently in the field of media discourse there is an interaction between other discourses, which is implemented by means of signs, as a result of which a multifaceted representation of a certain event is achieved, which plays an important role in persuading the recipient. The purpose of the present paper is to study the semiotic basis of the interaction of various discourses within the media discourse. The study was conducted on the material of media texts – the texts of articles posted on the website of The Guardian newspaper. During the study, methods of discourse analysis, semiotic analysis, methods of observation and description were used. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the inclusion of signs of other discourses into the media discourse in order to represent a certain event leads to interaction between discourses, which manifests itself in the forms of interdiscursivity and polydiscursivity. The polydiscursivity of media discourse results in a multifaceted presentation and analysis of the situation described in the media text; the combination of signs of different discourses within the media discourse leads to the representation of a combined situation in it. The specificity of interdiscursivity lies in the fact that as a result of the use of signs of another discourse in the media discourse, a certain everyday situation becomes part of the media situation, a participant in which – a journalist – simultaneously performs the functions of a participant in the everyday situation; at the same time, the information channel, which is part of the media situation, is used to transmit specific everyday information, and not information about socio-political, economic and other events. The interaction between discourses in the field of media discourse indicates the interpenetration and mutual influence of various spheres of human life and the representation of this process in media discourse.

Abstract:
The paper describes legal media discourse, which is a hybrid discourse formation whose preconstructs are legal discourse and media discourse. The study was conducted using general scientific methods: induction, generalization, analysis, synthesis, description; and specialized linguistic methods: continuous sampling method, discourse analysis. The texts of legal media discourse presented on the official websites of the English-language media platforms such as The Guardian, BBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Times, Washington Monthly, etc. form the empirical basis of the study. Legal discourse and media discourse are institutional discourses whose interaction results in forming an independent hybrid. The article provides the analysis of legal media discourse using the pattern of the institutional discourse description proposed by V.I. Karasik, which consists of the following criteria: typical participants, chronotope, goals, values, strategies, genres, precedent texts, and discursive formulas. The characteristics of the discursive hybrid under study are determined by referring to the preconstruct discourses features identified at the present time. The description of legal media discourse as a specific sphere of the intersection of law and media is viewed as not a mechanical sum of the characteristics of legal discourse and media discourse, but their synthesis which accounts for the independent nature of the hybrid discursive formation.

Abstract:
The current study tries to approach and analyse racism from a pragma-discoursal perspective. Accordingly the present work seeks to actualize certain aims, the most important of which are: 1- Identifying the pragma-discoursal devices study of racism. 2- Determining the major pragma-discoursal devices that are utilized for launching, maintaining and terminating racist discourse. 3- Scrutinizing the pragma-discoursal strategies that are employed by racists to actualize their aims. 4- Investigating the commonest pragma-discourses devices and strategies that are utilized in ten English and Arabic selected Media texts under analysis. 5- Comparing the differences between ten selected English and Arabic media texts under analysis in terms of the different pragma-discoursal strategies exploited in these texts. 6- Developing the eclectic model for the analysis of the racist discourses of the English and Arabic selected texts. The following procedures are adopted to achieve the aims of this work and test its hypotheses : 1- Surveying briefly the relevant literature on the two fields of this study, pragmatics and discourse analysis in terms of the racist discourse in some selected English and Arabic media texts. 2- Conducting a comparison between the English and Arabic media texts under study. 3- Employing an eclectic model that is developed in the present study to analyze and scrutinize the selected texts. 4- Calculating the data of the study by means of certain statistical analytic means. To realize the aforementioned aims, the hypotheses are tested : 1The findings of this study aid the hypotheses that are suggested for the pragma-discoursal structure of racism, and mostly utilized in the launching ,maintaining and terminating stages of the racist discourse.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: The “hunger riots” that hit most African countries in 2008 gave rise to Cameroon, with a prolific discursive production which media relayed abundantly. Postulating that "media discourses are essentially 'mediating' discourses of other discourses" (Moirand, 2006), this paper questions the mediation manifested in and with the "pluricode discourse" of comic press. Inspired by Peytard’s "new considerations on the semiolinguistics of alteration", the study, which is based on a corpus of caricature taken from newspapers published between February 13 and March 13, 2008, states that "any wording of the third-speaking as an act of narrated discourse involves an evaluative attitude of the narrated discourse” (1992, p.75). It then deciphers the modes of articulation of the "narrated discourse" on and in the narrating discourse of the cartoon press and deduces the discursive relationship between the journalistic and the pictographic texts.

Abstract:
The paper focuses on the discourse surrounding a resonate media event connected with the discussion of contested statements concerning domestic violence made by a popular Russian TV-host and blogger. We use feminist critical discourse analysis and analysis of the sociocultural context of discourse to explore the strategies employed to resolve the conflict and highlight the ways global discourses on gender and violence are localized. We show how linguistic representations promote abuse-sustaining discourses or question the gendered ideologies of male violence against women and challenge the social system that condones gender-based violence. The study revealed heterogeneity of gender attitudes, varying (gender-based) degrees of tolerance to statements about domestic violence, the ineffectiveness of the appeal to Anglophone discourses on gender and the effectiveness of a strategy based on the knowledge and experience of “one’s own” social culture. The persistence of patriarchal values in the discourse on domestic violence is supported by widely used strategies of degendering the violence and gendering the blame.

Abstract:
Despite intensified and concerted efforts to realise sustainable development. Western industrialised countries have in recent years experienced several mass protests against institutions perceived variously to have the potential to govern the global economy in environmentally sustainable or unsustainable ways. This thesis examines how different actors in the news media attempt to legitimate and de-legitimate neoliberal approaches to economic governance on grounds that these approaches are or are not environmentally sustainable. By using a critical discourse analysis perspective to analyse texts produced by actors with competing political commitments (neo-liberal and left-liberal), it discusses how primarily profit-driven generic conventions can govern what can and cannot be said in debates on sustainability. The thesis suggests that the effectiveness of (cultural) politics aimed at legitimating and de-legitimating neo-liberal approaches can be understood in teens of the relationship between an instrumental rationality geared at maximising the effectiveness of existing institutional systems and a communicative rationality geared at achieving understanding.

Borisenko, Elena. "Discourse on Immigration in Swedish Mass Media." Thesis, Linköping University, Department of Management and Economics, 2005. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-376.

Full text
Abstract:

Mass movement of people over national borders constitutes the major feature of the today's world. Immigration and its implications are widely debated, whereby the term 'immigration', whenever appeared in a text, hardly ever refers to some unambigously defined concept. To deal with the question of immigration is, therefore, to be faced with a variety of definitions and connotations. The thesis constitutes an attempt to understand how the phenomenon of immigration is conceptualized in Swedish mass media debate, and explore the dynamics of the discourse over the last decade. To do so, the study develops a theoretical framework that takes a form of classification of different approaches to immigration, as formulated by major paradigms of international relations (liberal communitarianism, realism, idealism) and as developed within modern economic and cultural studies. Social construction of immigration and its implications for the nation-states serves as the organizing principle for the emerging classification, as social constructivism is adopted as the ontological standpoint of the thesis. The thesis then analyzes over 180 articles that deal with immigration and are published in the major Swedish daily newspapers, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet in the years 1993 and 2002. The aim is to discover common patterns of the debate and link them to the concepts constituting the theoretical framework. The analysis shows that almost all concepts described in the theoretical section can be identified in the mass media discourse, which allows to conclude that the developed classification has proved appropriate for the analysis of the empirical material. The research concludes that, while concepts pointing towards self-interests as determining factors for formulating immigration policies are present in the studied mass media discourse, which is especially clear in 1993, the debate in general is strongly influenced by adherence to international solidarity and humanistic values as the basis for Swedish traditional foreign policy. Additionally, the study highlights the essential changes occured within the debate over the last decade, among which a shift from connecting immigration exclusively to refugee policies towards a more braod understanding of immigration as a consequence of globalization and as a realization of individual right to free movement can be considered the most central.

Abstract:
The thesis explores aspects of language in the modern media of communication, with particular reference to its role in the production and circulation of ideologies (Ideologies are understood in this context as systems of representation whose effect is to sustain relations of domination). Investigation is conducted by means of case studies on a variety of media texts ranging from print Journalism through to TV and radio. These case studies suggest that ideology in text may be analysed using various techniques from linguistics, including - for example - the analysis of vocabulary, and the analysis of grammatical systems such as transitivity. But the case studies also suggest that ideologies operate in the form of implicit background assumptions which may be made analytically explicit by drawing upon recent developments in linguistic pragmatics. In addition to engaging with issues of language and ideology in the study of media texts, the case studies are also concerned with the ways in which such texts shape up to their audiences, particularly through the adoption of modes of direct address. Direct address is. considered to be an important indicator of genres in media discourse; and the thesis includes a detailed study of a one particular genre from popular day-time radio. The research is thus seen as occupying a middle ground between linguistics and media studies. It begins with media discourse as projecting dominant forms of common sense but it concludes with issues concerning the relation of these discourses to their putative audiences.

Dean, Peter John. "Undergraduate media studies in England : a discourse analysis." Thesis, University of Bedfordshire, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10547/576440.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this research study is to analyse the nature of undergraduate media studies in England, necessarily from the inside, and document the social practices that constitute the subject in the light of its historic and contemporary challenges and the influence of changing public higher education discourses over the period of the fieldwork, 2012-2013. Conceptually, media studies is regarded as socially constructed and enacted through discursive practices that reveal the nature of the power relationships that are the basis of the ways ‘things get done’. This approach is based on Foucault’s (1984, 2002a, 2002b, 2002c) conception of power and discourse and dovetails with a substantial part of the sociology of higher education. The fieldwork consisted of a series of semi-structured face-to-face interviews with a range of participants drawn from media studies lecturers, other university professionals, media studies graduates and a secondary school headteacher with experience of advising university applicants. This provided examples of discursive practices from both ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ media. The thematic analyses of the data show a complex set of interacting oppositional discourses that are skilfully managed by these professional practitioners to maintain a balance of Foucauldian power. This ensures that public policy changes are assimilated and ‘delivered’ whilst sometimes also mitigating their impact and maintaining a prevailing rationale for media studies. The study concludes by contrasting the findings with the emerging discourses of Critical University Studies (CUS). With a declared position (Williams, 2012a) in opposition to higher education public policy reforms, CUS is considered as a set of academic discursive practices that are distinct from the more nuanced balance of oppositional discourses evidenced through the participant responses here.

Dunne, Neil, Greta Cattabriga, and Nathan O’Néill. Narrating Homeownership: Media Discourse and Lived Experiences of Mortgaged Homeownership in Sweden. Malmö University, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.24834/isbn.9789178773497.

Full text
Abstract:
In the housing literature, Sweden is often portrayed as a so-called “cost-rental” society associated with tenure neutrality, where rental housing should be an attractive alternative – and not just a step in the way – to homeownership. A large and well-developed rental sector has traditionally made it possible for young adults to leave their family home at a relatively young age. However, this logic has been clearly disrupted as rental housing has become harder to access and homeownership has been favoured by incremental ideological political shifts and fiscal policy encouraging homeownership. As more households – also young ones – are steered into homeownership, Sweden has become one of the most mortgage-indebted nations in the OECD. This working paper on homeownership and mortgagization takes on the question of mortgaged indebtedness in discourse and practice. The working paper is the joint product of two different studies written as part of the research internship in the project “Financialisation of everyday life. Intersectional perspectives on housing and labor precarity” at Malmö university, led by Chiara Valli. In the first section, Neil Dunne presents a discourse analysis on how homeownership has been discussed in the largest newspapers in Sweden over the last decades, while Greta Cattabriga and Nathan O’Néill in the second section discuss perceptions and lived experiences of mortgaged homeownership on the basis of interviews with young adults. Put together, the two studies contribute with significant additions to the discussion about whether Sweden is moving towards a homeownership society and what the potential consequences are for young adults.

Melnyk, Olesia. MEDIA DISCOURSE AROUND THE FIGURE OF ORIANA FALLACHI AND HER JOURNALISM DURING 2017–2020. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, March 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.50.11114.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the media discourse around the figure of Oriana Fallachi and her journalistic work during 2017-2020. The actual media image of the figure of Fallachi is highlighted, examples of positive and negative statements are given. It is substantiated why her journalism should be researched in various ways, taking into account other aspects of her work that are not related to Islamophobia. The subject of the study is critical texts in modern foreign media dedicated to the author’s work. The objective of the study is to outline the media discourse around the figure of Oriana Fallaci and her journalism during 2017-2020. The methodology. The following methods have been used in the process of scientific research: historical, comparative, systems analysis, content synthesis, and others. The main results. In total, we have analyzed eight materials in foreign publications, published over the past 3 years, as well as the two most famous biographies of Oriana Fallaci. Some of the most recent reviewed texts have been published in the last few months, reflecting the interest in the author’s journalism, her writing, and reporting. Therefore, we see the need for further tracking and analysis of this body of texts. Conclusions. Critics of Fallaci express polar views that are not all negative. Authors recommend quite cautiously her texts for reading, emphasizing their positive aspects. Both Fallaci’s biographies are also not entirely complementary: some aspects of her work are glorified, others are condemned. We managed to find general tendencies in the criticism of Oriana Fallaci’s journalism. These include accusations of xenophobia and Islamophobia, uncompromisingness, lack of political correctness, and moral value. The authors emphasize, at the same time, the openness and directness that bribe the reader, patriotism and honesty, strength of spirit and firmness of position. Significance of the research. The analysis of the latest criticism reveals what kind of media image Fallachi’s figure has today, and gives the possibility to research it for demonization and one-sided coverage. This is important not only for thorough research of the author’s work but also for understanding how the modern world perceives journalism, which is contrary to the generally accepted principles of political correctness, journalistic ethics, and humanity.

Abstract:
The main objective of the study is to reveal the specifics of the functioning of the metaphor “war against coronavirus” in Ukrainian mediatized discursive practices of 2020-2021 compared to the trends of using this metaphor in the media environment of Western countries. A research methodology is based on the approach of critical discourse analysis. The work also takes into account the results of the study of the «war against coronavirus» metaphor, conducted using the materials of public discourses in Italy, Bulgaria, and Greece. A comparative analysis of the specifics of the functioning of this metaphor in mediatized discursive practices was carried out by the author of the article as part of a joint study of an international team of scientists – a contextualized online dictionary «In Other Words» (https://www.iowdictionary.org). Mediatized discursive practices mean communications with a mass audience through various media platforms, i.e., not only through mass media, but also with the use of blogs, social networks, messengers, video hosting, etc. The findings of the study of “war” metaphors in the domestic official discourse on the problems of combating the Covid-19 pandemic during 2020-2021 are based on the analysis of public speeches and greetings presented on the official website “President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Official Internet representation”, as well as interviews of the President with leading domestic and foreign publications. The result of the research is the conclusion that, in general, the metaphor “war against the coronavirus” has not gained such widespread use in Ukrainian official, political, and media discursive practices as in Western countries. This is due to the fact that starting in 2014, Ukraine repels the military aggression of the Russian Federation in the east of the country. Therefore, in 2020–2021, the word war was actively used in the public and personal discourses of Ukrainians primarily not in a metaphorical, but in a direct, denotative sense: war as an armed struggle in the east of Ukraine. Key words: Covid-19, metaphor “war against coronavirus”, political discourse, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, mediatized discursive practices, critical discourse analysis.

Abstract:
An article describes intertextuality as a lexico-semantic tool of linguistic suggestion and examines its ability to constitute manipulative power of authority within political media discourse. Following a thorough study of linguopragmatics and suggestive linguistics from the perspective of their theoretical grounds, we aimed to classify lexico-semantic tools, which could enable an authority to become a manipulative power of political media texts. Intertextuality caught our attention as an element of the aforementioned classification. The phenomenon representing overlap and interaction of several texts is backed up by recent examples gathered from some Russian and foreign Internet periodicals. Being sub-types of intertextuality Allusion and Quotation were highlighted in the research.

Aruguete, Natalia, Ernesto Calvo, Carlos Scartascini, and Tiago Ventura. Trustful Voters, Trustworthy Politicians: A Survey Experiment on the Influence of Social Media in Politics. Inter-American Development Bank, July 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0003389.

Full text
Abstract:
Recent increases in political polarization in social media raise questions about the relationship between negative online messages and the decline in political trust around the world. To evaluate this claim causally, we implement a variant of the well-known trust game in a survey experiment with 4,800 respondents in Brazil and Mexico. Our design allows to test the effect of social media on trust and trustworthiness. Survey respondents alternate as agents (politicians) and principals (voters). Players can cast votes, trust others with their votes, and cast entrusted votes. The players rewards are contingent on their preferred “candidate” winning the election. We measure the extent to which voters place their trust in others and are themselves trustworthy, that is, willing to honor requests that may not benefit them. Treated respondents are exposed to messages from in-group or out-group politicians, and with positive or negative tone. Results provide robust support for a negative effect of uncivil partisan discourse on trust behavior and null results on trustworthiness. The negative effect on trust is considerably greater among randomly treated respondents who engage with social media messages. These results show that engaging with messages on social media can have a deleterious effect on trust, even when those messages are not relevant to the task at hand or not representative of the actions of the individuals involved in the game.

Oltarzhevskyi, Dmytro. HISTORICAL FEATURES OF CORPORATE MEDIA FORMATION IN UKRAINE AND IN THE WORLD. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, February 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.49.11067.

Full text
Abstract:
The article examines the world and Ukrainian history of corporate periodicals. The main purpose of this study is to reproduce an objective global picture of the emergence and formation of corporate periodicals, taking into account the business and socio-economic context. Accordingly, its tasks are to compare the conditions and features of corporate media genesis in different countries, to determine the main factors of their development, as well as to clarify the transformations of the terminological apparatus. The research is based on mostly foreign secondary scientific works published from 1915 to the present time. The literature was studied using methods such as overview, historical, functional and thematic analysis, description, and generalization. A systematic approach was used to determine the role and place of each element in the system, as well as to comprehensively consider the object in the general historical context and within the current scientific discourse. The method of systematization made it possible to establish internal and external connections, patterns and contradictions in the development of the object of study. The main historical milestones on this path are identified, examples of the first successful corporate publications and their contribution to business development, public relations, and corporate communications are considered. It was found that corporate media emerged in the mid-nineteenth century spontaneously, on the wave of practical business needs in response to industrialization, company increase, staff growth, and consumer market development. Their appearance preceded the formation of the public relations industry and changed the structure of the information space. The scientific significance of this research is that the historical look at the evolution of corporate media provides an understanding of their place, influence, capabilities, and growing communicative role in the digital age.

Sithole, Enoch. Climate change journalism in South Africa: noticeable improvements, less than adequate. FOJO media institute, March 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.15626/fojo.s.202301.

Full text
Abstract:
The media coverage of climate change in South Africa is on the increase, although several issue requiring attention have been identified. These include i) the fact that media coverage ismostly influenced by events such as climate conferences and disasters; ii) a tendency toapproach climate change as a beat, instead of incorporating it in other beats since the climatecrisis impacts various issues, such as economics, health, politics, food security, agriculture, etc. This has often resulted in a scenario where some of the impacts of climate change are underreported;iii) most of the reporting is found in online media and sometimes behind paywalls;and iv) although showing some improvements, there is a reliance on stories from foreign newsnetworks, something that might suggest that the climate crisis is not of local concern. Overallclimate communication by key stakeholders such as the government and the business sector isparticularly inadequate. Having conducted a mapping of media coverage by 11 publicationsand interviewed 42 key stakeholders, this study has made several recommendations whichinclude the training of climate journalists and the conscientization of media houses to improvereporting on the crisis. Government, in particular, has been implored to engage in climatechange communication to catapult societal discourse on the subject and improve mediareporting.

Adegoke, Damilola, Natasha Chilambo, Adeoti Dipeolu, Ibrahim Machina, Ade Obafemi-Olopade, and Dolapo Yusuf. Public discourses and Engagement on Governance of Covid-19 in Ekiti State, Nigeria. African Leadership Center, King's College London, December 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.47697/lab.202101.

Full text
Abstract:
Numerous studies have emerged so far on Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) across different disciplines. There is virtually no facet of human experience and relationships that have not been studied. In Nigeria, these studies include knowledge and attitude, risk perception, public perception of Covid-19 management, e-learning, palliatives, precautionary behaviours etc.,, Studies have also been carried out on public framing of Covid-19 discourses in Nigeria; these have explored both offline and online messaging and issues from the perspectives of citizens towards government’s policy responses such as palliative distributions, social distancing and lockdown. The investigators of these thematic concerns deployed different methodological tools in their studies. These tools include policy evaluations, content analysis, sentiment analysis, discourse analysis, survey questionnaires, focus group discussions, in depth-interviews as well as machine learning., These studies nearly always focus on the national government policy response, with little or no focus on the constituent states. In many of the studies, the researchers work with newspaper articles for analysis of public opinions while others use social media generated contents such as tweets) as sources for analysis of sentiments and opinions. Although there are others who rely on the use of survey questionnaires and other tools outlined above; the limitations of these approaches necessitated the research plan adopted by this study. Most of the social media users in Nigeria are domiciled in cities and their demography comprises the middle class (socio-economic) who are more likely to be literate with access to internet technologies. Hence, the opinions of a majority of the population who are most likely rural dwellers with limited access to internet technologies are very often excluded. This is not in any way to disparage social media content analysis findings; because the opinions expressed by opinion leaders usually represent the larger subset of opinions prevalent in the society. Analysing public perception using questionnaires is also fraught with its challenges, as well as reliance on newspaper articles. A lot of the newspapers and news media organisations in Nigeria are politically hinged; some of them have active politicians and their associates as their proprietors. Getting unbiased opinions from these sources might be difficult. The news articles are also most likely to reflect and amplify official positions through press releases and interviews which usually privilege elite actors. These gaps motivated this collaboration between Ekiti State Government and the African Leadership Centre at King’s College London to embark on research that will primarily assess public perceptions of government leadership response to Covid-19 in Ekiti State. The timeframe of the study covers the first phase of the pandemic in Ekiti State (March/April to August 2020).

Yatsymirska, Mariya. MODERN MEDIA TEXT: POLITICAL NARRATIVES, MEANINGS AND SENSES, EMOTIONAL MARKERS. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, February 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2022.51.11411.

Full text
Abstract:
The article examines modern media texts in the field of political journalism; the role of information narratives and emotional markers in media doctrine is clarified; verbal expression of rational meanings in the articles of famous Ukrainian analysts is shown. Popular theories of emotions in the process of cognition are considered, their relationship with the author’s personality, reader psychology and gonzo journalism is shown. Since the media text, in contrast to the text, is a product of social communication, the main narrative is information with the intention of influencing public opinion. Media text implies the presence of the author as a creator of meanings. In addition, media texts have universal features: word, sound, visuality (stills, photos, videos). They are traditionally divided into radio, TV, newspaper and Internet texts. The concepts of multimedia and hypertext are related to online texts. Web combinations, especially in political journalism, have intensified the interactive branching of nonlinear texts that cannot be published in traditional media. The Internet as a medium has created the conditions for the exchange of ideas in the most emotional way. Hence Gonzo’s interest in journalism, which expresses impressions of certain events in words and epithets, regardless of their stylistic affiliation. There are many such examples on social media in connection with the events surrounding the Wagnerians, the Poroshenko case, Russia’s new aggression against Ukraine, and others. Thus, the study of new features of media text in the context of modern political narratives and emotional markers is important in media research. The article focuses review of etymology, origin and features of using lexemes “cмисл (meaning)” and “сенс (sense)” in linguistic practice of Ukrainians results in the development of meanings and functional stylistic coloring in the usage of these units. Lexemes “cмисл (meaning)” and “сенс (sense)” are used as synonyms, but there are specific fields of meanings where they cannot be interchanged: lexeme “сенс (sense)” should be used when it comes to reasonable grounds for something, lexeme “cмисл (meaning)” should be used when it comes to notion, concept, understanding. Modern political texts are most prominent in genres such as interviews with politicians, political commentaries, analytical articles by media experts and journalists, political reviews, political portraits, political talk shows, and conversations about recent events, accompanied by effective emotional narratives. Etymologically, the concept of “narrative” is associated with the Latin adjective “gnarus” – expert. Speakers, philosophers, and literary critics considered narrative an “example of the human mind.” In modern media texts it is not only “story”, “explanation”, “message techniques”, “chronological reproduction of events”, but first of all the semantic load and what subjective meanings the author voices; it is a process of logical presentation of arguments (narration). The highly professional narrator uses narration as a “method of organizing discourse” around facts and impressions, impresses with his political erudition, extraordinary intelligence and creativity. Some of the above theses are reflected in the following illustrations from the Ukrainian media: “Culture outside politics” – a pro-Russian narrative…” (MP Gabibullayeva); “The next will be Russia – in the post-Soviet space is the Arab Spring…” (journalist Vitaly Portnikov); “In Russia, only the collapse of Ukraine will be perceived as success” (Pavel Klimkin); “Our army is fighting, hiding from the leadership” (Yuri Butusov).
