Abstract:
The Media Monitoring Project (MMP) was the leading organisation monitoring the total output of news in radio, television and print before and during South Africa's first democratic elections in April 1994. The main objective of the MMP was to monitor the vertical top-down distribution of information from powerful media institutions to citizens many of whom were first-time voters, the majority illiterate, unfamiliar with the concept of human rights and not accustomed to the language of democracy. After the elections the MMP has had to change its role from vertical to horizontal monitoring and to observe the equal distribution of Information TO all citizens, and FROM all citizens, and ensure that channels of access are available to all citizens. As Hamelink states: "Conventional human rights thinking focuses the vertical state-citizen on relation. This ignores the possibility that concentration of power in the hands of Individuals can be as threatening as state power Whenever citizens pursue different economic interests, individual human rights will be under serious threat. Citizens also need to be protected from each other"

Abstract:
IntroductionEarly childhood development forms the foundations for functioning later in life. Thus, accurate monitoring of developmental trajectories is critical. However, such monitoring often relies on time-intensive assessments which necessitate administration by skilled professionals. This difficulty is exacerbated in low-resource settings where such professionals are predominantly concentrated in urban and often private clinics, making them inaccessible to many. This geographic and economic inaccessibility contributes to a significant ‘detection gap’ where many children who might benefit from support remain undetected. The Scalable Transdiagnostic Early Assessment of Mental Health (STREAM) project aims to bridge this gap by developing an open-source, scalable, tablet-based platform administered by non-specialist workers to assess motor, social and cognitive developmental status. The goal is to deploy STREAM through public health initiatives, maximising opportunities for effective early interventions. Methods and analysisThe STREAM project will enrol and assess 4000 children aged 0–6 years from Malawi (n=2000) and India (n=2000). It integrates three established developmental assessment tools measuring motor, social and cognitive functioning using gamified tasks, observation checklists, parent-report and audio-video recordings. Domain scores for motor, social and cognitive functioning will be developed and assessed for their validity and reliability. These domain scores will then be used to construct age-adjusted developmental reference curves.Ethics and disseminationEthical approval has been obtained from local review boards at each site (India: Sangath Institutional Review Board; All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Ethics Committee; Indian Council of Medical Research—Health Ministry Screening Committee; Malawi: College of Medicine Research and Ethics Committee; Malawi Ministry of Health—Blantyre District Health Office). The study adheres to Good Clinical Practice standards and the ethical guidelines of the 6th (2008) Declaration of Helsinki. Findings from STREAM will be disseminated to participating families, healthcare professionals, policymakers, educators and researchers, at local, national and international levels through meetings, academic journals and conferences.

Abstract:
Malawi has the second highest age-standardised incidence rate and the highest mortality rate of cervical cancer in the world. Though the prevalence of HIV is currently 11.7% for Malawian women of reproductive age, cervical cancer screening rates remain low. To address this issue, we integrated cervical cancer screening into a dual HIV and non-communicable disease clinic at a rural district hospital in Neno, Malawi. The project was implemented between January 2017 and March 2018 using the Plan-Do-Study-Act model of quality improvement (QI). At baseline (January to December 2016), only 13 women living with HIV were screened for cervical cancer. One year after implementation of the QI project, 73% (n=547) of women aged 25 to 49 years living with HIV enrolled in HIV care were screened for cervical cancer, with 85.3% of these receiving the screening test for the first time. The number of women living with HIV accessing cervical cancer services increased almost 10 times (from four per month to 39 per month, p<0.001). Key enablers in our QI process included: strong mentorship, regular provision of cervical cancer health talks throughout the hospital, nationally accredited cervical cancer prevention training for all providers, consistent community engagement, continuous monitoring and evaluation, and direct provision of resources to strengthen gaps in the public system. This practical experience integrating cervical cancer screening into routine HIV care may provide valuable lessons for scale-up in rural Malawi.

Abstract:
This paper describes selected outcomes of media monitoring for anti-minority hate speech in the Czech Republic. In keeping with the agenda of critical discourse analysis, we aim to integrate historical, linguistic and cultural specificities with their linguistic manifestations in news articles about minorities, and here we present findings from a long-term study devoted to tracking xenophobia against two of the main minority groups. The AntiMetrics project, of which the work described here is one part, is designed to detect signs of anti-minority rhetoric in a society, with a view to taking steps to prevent such indicators from developing into more embedded prejudice and ultimately inter-group violence. The paper aims to provide a snapshot of what is a broad, long-term interdisciplinary project. Using a critical discourse toolkit, we analyse a sample news story about the Roma community, and identify a number of discursive and linguistic features that indicate the entrenchment of “new racism” in media at some levels. The toolkit also seeks to go beyond lexical signs to identify more implicit rhetorical devices, such as framing and (de-) contextualization of news events, and to quantify lack of balance in the selection of witnesses and other primary definers. Our ongoing content survey indicates the embedding of linguistic patterns that raise concern about leakage of far right discourse via media into everyday communication.

Abstract:
Introduction Kangaroo mother care (KMC) involves continuous skin-to-skin contact of baby on mother’s chest to provide warmth, frequent breastfeeding, recognizing danger signs of illness, and early discharge. Though KMC is safe, effective and recommended by the World Health Organization, implementation remains limited in practice. The objective of this study is to understand barriers and facilitators to KMC practice at tertiary and secondary health facilities in southern Malawi from the perspective of health workers. Methods This study is part of the “Integrating a neonatal healthcare package for Malawi” project in the Innovating for Maternal and Child Health in Africa initiative. In-depth interviews were conducted between May-Aug 2019 with a purposively drawn sample of service providers and supervisors working in newborn health at a large tertiary hospital and three district-level hospitals in southern Malawi. Data were analyzed using a thematic approach using NVivo 12 software (QSR International, Melbourne, Australia). Findings A total of 27 nurses, clinical officers, paediatricians and district health management officials were interviewed. Staff attitudes, inadequate resources and reliance on families emerged as key themes. Health workers from Malawi described KMC practice positively as a low-cost, low-technology solution appropriate for resource-constrained health settings. However, staff perceptions that KMC babies were clinically stable was associated with lower prioritization in care and poor monitoring practices. Neglect of the KMC ward by medical staff, inadequate staffing and reliance on caregivers for supplies were associated with women self-discharging early. Conclusion Though routine uptake of KMC was policy for stable low birthweight and preterm infants in the four hospitals, there were gaps in monitoring and maintenance of practice. While conceptualized as a low-cost intervention, sustainable implementation requires investments in technologies, staffing and hospital provisioning of basic supplies such as food, bedding, and KMC wraps. Strengthening hospital capacities to support KMC is needed as part of a continuum of care for premature infants.

Abstract:
AbstractDealing with multiple stakeholders in agriculture–nutrition projects often makes communication and the collection of quality, reliable, and low-cost data complex and challenging. Communication bureaucracies among stakeholders often lead to delay, distortion, or loss of information along the communication channel. Social networking platforms can facilitate communication and collection of real-time data useful for project monitoring. This article shares our experience in using the WhatsApp platform for communication and collection of additional monitoring data. A WhatsApp platform for project implementers from the ministries of health (100) and agriculture (52) from Bungoma, Busia, Homa Bay, and Migori counties Kenya was formed in September 2016 for sharing additional monitoring data in the form of photos, videos, and texts. Project monitoring-related costs reduced by 51% and collapsing reporting hierarchies reduced information delays, thereby saving time and communication challenges. A shared understanding among different actors on the project’s indicators, reporting timelines, and data collection guidelines improved the quality of continuous monitoring data. However, staff transfer and replacements called for the continuous induction of new entrants to the forum. WhatsApp is a compelling tool in project monitoring to mitigate communication challenges. It offers an opportunity to share information on one platform among different cadres, facilitating collective action in multisectoral approach projects.

Abstract:
Abstract Water Mission's extensive experience in designing, constructing and supporting solar-powered pumping solutions demonstrates the technological viability and cost effectiveness for delivering safe water to people, particularly in rural areas. Water Mission follows a unique design approach that uses conventional but relatively unique engineering specifications in terms of hydraulics, power requirement, water treatment and distribution, having tested them in different geographical environments. Water Mission incorporates a community-managed sustainability model into the design to ensure a longer life span for the project by promoting a well-defined maintenance and sustainability plan. This approach was applied to ten projects in 2015 in Kasungu, Lilongwe and Blantyre districts where installation, monitoring and evaluation were done and subjected to Water Mission's standards for qualification to hand them over to the beneficiary communities at the end of one year post installation. The paper is a review and discussion of the steps that Water Mission follows in its design process to come up with a sustainable project with solar energy. The paper also illustrates the non-compromise stand by Water Mission when it comes to the hand-over criteria for its projects by following and respecting the results of the prescribed evaluation test. It highlights detailed advantages and disadvantages of the design approach and presents recommendations. It is concluded that the approach can be replicated elsewhere in Malawi as a solution to water supply.

Abstract:
Climate compatible development (CCD) is gaining traction as a conceptual framework for mainstreaming climate change mitigation and adaptation within development efforts. Understanding whether and how CCD design processes reconcile different stakeholder preferences can reveal how the concept contends with patterns of sociocultural and political oppression that condition patterns of development. We, therefore, explore procedural justice and power within CCD design through a case study analysis of two donor-funded projects in Malawi. Findings show that donor agencies are driving design processes and involving other stakeholders selectively. While considerable overlap existed between stakeholders’ “revealed” priorities for CCD, invisible power dynamics encourage the suppression of “true” preferences, reducing the likelihood that CCD will be contextually appropriate and have widespread stakeholder buy in. Visible, hidden, and invisible forms of power create barriers to procedural justice in CCD design. We present five recommendations to help policy makers and practitioners to overcome these barriers.

Women in bikinis posing on a beach, heart attacks and snoring. What’s the connection? Well, to most of us none. Yet one Turkish television news report on 1 February 2000 deemed it appropriate to illustrate a serious story on scientific research into the link between heart attacks and snoring in women with footage of scantily clad women posing on a beach! It is stories like these that have come under the microscope in three international media monitoring projects over the last 10 years. When the first Global Media Monitoring Project (or GMMP as it has come to be known) was conducted in 1995, few of those involved could have imagined that it would develop in the way that it went on to do. Ten years later, with the third such project now complete, the enormous significance of this international initiative is clear. These three projects constitute the most extensive global research of gender in news media ever undertaken and as such they provide an enlightening example of the importance of media monitoring as a tool for change.

Abstract:
Since 2012, the citizen science project ‘Mückenatlas’ has been supplementing the German mosquito monitoring programme with over 28,000 submissions of physical insect samples. As the factors triggering people to catch mosquitoes for science are still unknown, we analysed the influence of mass media reports on mosquito submission numbers. Based on a theoretical framework of how mass media affect citizen responsiveness, we identified five possible influencing factors related to citizen science: (i) project awareness and knowledge, (ii) attention (economy), (iii) individual characteristics of citizen scientists and targeted communication, (iv) spatial differences and varying affectedness, and (v) media landscape. Hypotheses based on these influencing factors were quantitatively and qualitatively tested with two datasets: clipping data of mass media reports (online, television, radio and print) referring to or focussing on the ‘Mückenatlas’, and corresponding data of ‘Mückenatlas’ submissions between 2014 and 2017. In general, the number of media reports positively affected the number of mosquito submissions on a temporal and spatial scale, i.e. many media reports provoke many mosquito submissions. We found that an already heightened public and media awareness of mosquito-relevant topics combined with a direct call-to-action in a media report title led to a maximum participation. Differences on federal state level, however, suggest that factors additional to quantitative media coverage trigger participation in the ‘Mückenatlas’, in particular the mosquito affectedness of the resident population. Lastly, media types appear to differ in their effects on the number of submissions. Our results show under which circumstances the media presence of the ’Mückenatlas’ is most effective in activating people to submit mosquito samples, and thus provide advice for designing communication strategies for citizen science projects.

The Internal Division (IT) is a unit that has responsibility for project work and also its completion, the projects handled by the Internal Division (IT) are numerous and also have various specifications. For now, the coordination process is still being carried out using Group Chat on Skype, Whatsapp, and Google Meet so that many obstacles or problems are encountered. Based on the results of interviews with the Head Department in the internal division (IT) there are problems in monitoring the project, project work, project file storage locations, communication media between project teams, project management. The purpose and benefits of the research are to provide convenience for the IT division in conducting the process of managing and monitoring the ongoing project, providing project management services within the organization that can be connected between individuals for project management. Needs analysis was carried out using data collection methods in the form of observations and interviews. The methodology used is Waterfall. The Waterfall development methodology is a development model that flows from the first phase to the last. The problem is that project and progress monitoring is carried out through Skype and Whatsapp social media so that there are many group chats that are less effective in working on a project due to lack of information about the project that is being worked on or the project to be worked on (the status of the project). The final result produces a Project Management Application that is used to manage all projects carried out in the IT Division and is able to handle the problems at hand. The scope of the resulting application monitors the progress of the project; has a forum feature as a medium of communication between project teams; provide a place to store files related to the project being worked on; Equipped with a time schedule feature for project work.

Abstract Public participation in water conservation projects is gaining more and more attention in the information era. Public opinion, showing the focus and interests of the public, is the basis of public participation. This paper proposes a social sensing system based on social media platforms, which employs two natural language processing technologies, namely, sentiment analysis and topic modeling. The public opinion on water conservation projects is monitored from three perspectives: public opinion intensity (POI) monitoring, topic detection, and sentiment analysis. To test their effectiveness, a case study on the South-to-North Water Transfer Project (SNWTP) in China is conducted. The public opinion data were acquired from Sina Weibo, China's largest social media platform. The results indicate that: (1) POI peaks when hot project-related events occur, and POI of direct stakeholders apparently exceeds indirect stakeholders; (2) different stakeholders have different topics of concern closely associated with their interests; (3) negative events always lead to dramatic decreases in the sentiment value (SV), while positive events only slightly lift SV. The proposed system has achieved real-time monitoring of the public opinion on water conservation projects. Consequently, it can help to improve the level of public participation and provide a valuable reference in project management and policy-making.

Abstract:
In this paper, we review the evolution of environmental monitoring, from its earliest days of exploration and increasing understanding of ecosystems and environment through the development of models and similar tools, to the current application of monitoring to assess project achievements. We note that information gathered through environmental monitoring is critical in evaluating the applicability of models and the accuracy of remotely-sensed information, and supporting the role of citizen science in the acquisition of environmental data. As monitoring increasingly is applied to project management, we identify the nexus between environmental and project management as needing to have purpose; observing that the purpose of monitoring evolves over time. This evolution is supported by the evaluation or assessment of the data—environmental and management related—over time, making monitoring and evaluation foundational for sound environmental management, restoration, protection, conservation, and understanding of ecosystem values.

Abstract:
Advancements in mobile technologies, internet, cloud computing, digital platforms and social media have significantly contributed to connecting people after the COVID-19 pandemic. With people becoming much more health-conscious, there is a growing demand for innovative ways to monitor health and well-being. This project aims at deploying Internet of Things (IoT) devices for measuring vital medical parameters of patients and securely transmitting the data to caregivers or any authorized persons for timely decisions. Essentially, our proposed system allows patients to move freely within a certain radius, while wearing an IoT kit, consisting of several sensors and communication modules. The project consists of three main parts: transmission, receiving and ‘body fall’ detection and alert systems. The transmission section records data through sensors and sends it to the receiving section, which then uploads the data to the cloud. The ‘body fall’ system detects changes in orientation and acceleration, alerting caregiver, in case the patient falls. Implementation and testing were successfully performed, with live data presented to caregivers through the LoRa technology and IoT platforms such as Blynk and Cayenne.

Abstract:
Assumptions surrounding the origins of Covid-19, the relationship between human mobility and the spread of the virus, and the pressure that the pandemic has placed on communities, have exacerbated xenophobic tensions globally, including in South Africa, a country long-associated with xenophobia. Previous research exploring how the South African media frames migration, and research investigating the framing of migration during Covid-19 in other contexts, has found that the media tends to frame migrants in terms of (un)deservingness and blame them for the spread of disease. Our findings, however, identify different concerns. This article discusses findings from a 12-month study exploring how migrant and mobile populations in South Africa were framed in the media as the pandemic developed during 2020. A news aggregator—Meltwater—was used to scrape the internet for English language text-based media published globally in 2020 that met a search with key terms Migration, Covid-19, and South Africa. A total of 12,068 articles were identified and descriptively analysed. Informed by previous approaches, a framing analysis was then undertaken of a sample of 561 articles. Findings illustrate how articles published by outlets based in the US and UK have a far greater reach than locally or regionally produced articles, despite local and regional outlets publishing far more consistently on the topic. Consistent and sympathetic engagement with issues of migration by South African publications was seen across 2020 and suggests that those writing from the region are aware of the realities of migration and mobility. Findings show that rather than centring migrants as the locus of blame for failures of the South African state—as has been done in the past—the state and its failure to adequately respond to both Covid-19 and migration are now being clearly articulated by media.

Cyberbullying occurs when someone harasses, threatens, or mistreats someone else online or on social media. Cyberbullying leads to threats, public embarrassment, and reprimands. Cyberbullying has caused a rise in youth suicide and mental health issues. It has lowered my self-esteem and escalated my suicidal thoughts. If cyberbullying continues, an entire generation of young adults will suffer from low self-esteem and mental health issues. Many machine learning algorithms are used to automatically identify social media cyberbullying. Social media monitoring allows this. These models don't account for all the factors that could make a comment or post bullying. Bullying is still ambiguous. This study presents a cyberbullying diagnosis model based on several factors. Cyberbully is a misuse of technology advantage to bully a person. This project is used Dataset namely,’ Cyberbullying-tweets’. Abstract:
Abstract Objectives Studies in Ecuador and Malawi have demonstrated mixed effects of interventions involving daily complementary feeding of eggs on child growth. For example, in Malawi, the egg intervention had no overall effect on child development. There is a need to test the effects of egg interventions on child growth and development in other settings with high prevalence of stunting and in the context of other nutritional interventions. The Saqmolo’ (i.e.,“egg” in the Mayan language, Kaqchiquel) study aims to evaluate the impact of adding 1 egg per day to local standard nutrition care (LSNC) on child development, in rural Maya infants from Guatemala. Methods In a community-based, individually randomized, controlled comparative effectiveness trial among rural indigenous Maya children (n = 1200), starting at 6–9 months at baseline, we will compare the impact of adding one egg per day to LSNC with LSNC alone. LSNC includes: growth monitoring, medical care, deworming medication, multiple micronutrient powders for point of use food fortification, and individualized complementary and responsive feeding education for caregivers. Intervention and control groups will be visited once per month during 6-months and adherence will be monitored during the visits and through phone calls for the first 2 months in both groups at the same frequency. The primary outcome is differences in child global development (measured by Caregiver Reported Child Development Instruments –CREDI-and the Guide for Monitoring Child Development GMCD); secondary outcomes include: growth (z-scores for weight for age, length for age, weight for length, and head circumference for age), and diet quality (using the World Health Organization's infant and young child feeding indicators). Results N/A (submitting study protocol abstract). Conclusions This study will provide new evidence on the potential effect of increased egg accessibility in high prevalence stunting areas along with integrated nutrition care on child development. The results may help to inform public health decision-making regarding resource allocation for effective nutrition interventions during the complementary feeding period in Guatemala. Abstract:
Subject. The article addresses project management issues. Objectives. The aim is to reveal the main directions of development of the theory and practice of model-based project management, using artificial intelligence tools. Methods. The study rests on the methodology of systems analysis and process-oriented approach, employs methods of modeling and comparative analysis. Results. We define the current technology of decision-making to minimize risk, describe ideas of creating a decision support system with elements of artificial intelligence, present an experiment on implementing a model of operational monitoring of risk objects at the stage of documentary customs control. The paper identifies expedient priority organizational solutions in the customs risk management system, provides proposals on the structure of the customs risk service, describes the concept of hybrid intelligence, implemented on the basis of a neural network, to be integrated in the process of collective decision-making. We present artificial intelligence technologies used in the practice of project management, disclose their advantages and disadvantages. Conclusions. The decision-making process is described as a process of structuring the vision of strategic perspective by the head and/or experts, the formation and adaptation of knowledge to real conditions of customs construction, or as a process of project management. The paper introduces the concept and reveals the technology of collective work of experts (technology of expert-analytical modeling) during the formulation of problems and preparation of managerial, methodological, technological, and other solutions. Within the technology, a multi-valued logic of phased transformation of experts' vision into a new system of customs organization, with a step-by-step assessment of generated situational alternatives is built on the formed set of conditions.

Abstract:
This article highlights evidence and lessons learned from the InnovAfrica project conducted by the Agricultural Research Council in collaboration with other international organizations between 2017 and 2021. This project aimed to test and upscale best-bet Sustainable Agricultural Intensification (SAI) practices through Multi-Actor Platforms (MAPs) and improved dissemination strategies across six African countries (viz. Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania). The goal of the project was to improve the food and nutritional security of smallholder farmers in Africa. The article briefly discusses some of the key challenges that smallholder agriculture is facing, results from the agricultural interventions brought in by the InnovAfrica project, evidence-based actions and policy recommendations to improve the sustainable agricultural productivity of smallholder farmers in the South African case study. The study showed that SAI practices increased crop yields and build climate-resilient farming communities. It is recommended that the promotion of SAI practices should be supported by enabling institutions and conducive policies that will enhance access to inputs, market linkages, improved access to credit and good agricultural lands, the establishment of functional farmer groups and participatory learning models. These recommendations can be used by the government and other agencies to develop effective interventions to improve food and nutrition security.

Abstract:
The study provides a systematic summary of the available knowledge concerning media related competences in Estonia. The goal was to focus on four information-related research questions: (i) What information about media competences is collected? (ii) How is this information analysed? (iii) What knowledge is created and published? (iv) Where are the main information and knowledge gaps? For this study, a four-dimensional model was created, which enabled us to get an overview of those aspects of media-related competences that gain either more or less attention (and money) in Estonia. Four types of information sources were used: academic articles, reports, the bibliographical database produced by the Mediadelcom project, and web pages (for EU and national policy documents). The results show that, in Estonia, political as well as academic attention is focused on digital competences, both theoretically and empirically. Estonia’s research interest and knowledge production is biased towards children and young people; but parents, and parenting, the influence of home is also put in focus of the empirical research. EU-financed projects influence the research agenda. The EU has initiated reports on media literacy initiatives in Estonia and therefore descriptive knowledge on various activities and projects as well as the agents behind these projects is accessible.

This article presents the upgraded Organic Multilevel Model 2.0 (OMM2) initially proposed by Oller in 2016. OMM2 underlines organic analysis principles, focusing on dynamic, comparative and diverse perspectives. It offers a methodology tailored for studying communication and media in developing nations, especially those with evolving intermedia journalistic cultures, emerging or fragile democracies, and autocratic governance. Particularly applicable to nations recently joining the EU, like those in Southern, Central, and Eastern Europe (SCEE), OMM2 aids in analyzing journalism, media monitoring, and political communication in these regions. These countries, often characterized by political upheaval and historical events like colonialism (e.g., Eastern Bloc), are the focus of the MEDIADELCOM project. Media assessment entities in these areas are part of a larger network encompassing diverse societal facets. In the SCEE context, deliberative communication signifies collective decision-making through public discourse, recognizing diverse opinions. Utilizing OMM2 for a comparative study of media monitoring is crucial to comprehend deliberative discussions in these EU-associated European democracies.

In this project we've discussed a system which uses some dynamic hand gesture recognition technique to manage the media players like VLC media player. This project consist of certain modules which segments the foreground a part of the frame using detection of skin colour and approximate median technique. the popularity of hand gesture is finished by creating a call Tree, that uses certain features extracted from the segmented part. This hand gesture recognition technique introduces a replacement, natural thanks to interact with computers and is beneficial to several folks in our day-to-day life. Hand gestures are associated with the human hands in hand gesture recognition. This project is employed for controlling certain operations (Pause, Play, Volume up, Volume Down, Mute) on video player by mere hand gestures without getting in the rigmarole of pressing buttons or tapping onto the screen. this may be directly associated with our day to life like in presentations. We have considered hand gestures and their directional motion defines a gesture for the applying. during this application image retrieving is finished employing a Webcam. Some functions in VLC media players are used most often and these functions uses some predefined gestures. Shows the defined gestures in keeping with the VLC player control operation. We created a VLC Media Player Controller using Hand Gesture Recognition System to form ‘HUMAN LIFE EASY AND BETTER’. This project is implemented using two steps: (1.) Creation of Hand Gesture Recognition System: this is often done using image processing using OpenCV library. (2.) Controlling VLC Media Player using hand gestures: during this step we controlled the player using shell commands which were recalled using python commands through OS library

Abstract:
The growing public interest in biodiversity monitoring has led to a significant increase in initiatives that unite citizen scientists, researchers, and machine learning technologies. In this context, we introduce WildLIVE!, a dynamic biomonitoring and citizen science project. In WildLIVE!, participants analyze a vast array of images from a long-term camera trapping project in Bolivia to investigate the impacts of shifting environmental factors on wildlife. From 2020 to 2023, more than 850 participants registered for WildLIVE!, contributing nearly 9,000 hours of voluntary work. We explore the motivators and sentiments of participant engagement and discuss the key strategies that have contributed to the project’s initial success. The findings from a questionnaire highlight that the primary motivational factors for our participants are understanding and knowledge, as well as engagement and commitment. However, expressions of positive and negative sentiments can be found regarding involvement. Participants appeared to be driven primarily by a desire for intellectual growth and emotional fulfillment. Factors crucial to the success of this digital citizen science project include media exposure, creating emotional connections through virtual and in-person communication with participants, and visibility on public citizen science portals. Moreover, the project’s labeled dataset serves as a valuable resource for machine learning, aiding the development of a new platform that is compliant with the FAIR principles. WildLIVE! not only contributes to outcomes in science, society, and nature conservation, but also demonstrates the potential of creating a collaborative bridge between the general public, scientific research, biodiversity conservation, and advanced technological applications.

Abstract:
The on-going debate on aid effectiveness highlights that in order for capacity development interventions to remain relevant and their results sustainable, their planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation need to be flexible and case-specific. It is not only important to account for end results, but also to adjust interventions during their implementation. Capacity development partnerships (CDP) between water operators are portrayed as a promising approach for sustained performance. However, it has been observed that these interventions require significant time to lead to the targeted water operator performance gains. Hence, managing the partnership solely through the use of key performance indicators offers the partners little insight into both the progress achieved and the effectiveness of the partnership activities in contributing to such progress. This incomplete picture is likely to limit the ability of partners to manage the project efficiently. This paper proposes a multi-path approach to monitoring and evaluating the performance of CDPs (this being understood as different from the performance of the targeted water operator) that enables well-informed management of the partnership. The designed approach is applied to compare the progress of two partnership projects, namely those of the Lilongwe and Blantyre Water Boards in Malawi, with Vitens Evides International.

Abstract:
Aquaculture is an agricultural technology that combines aquaculture (fish farming activities) with hydroponic activities (planting crops without soil media) in one circulation. The most important element in aquaculture is the existence of fish, plants, and bacteria. These three elements form a mutually beneficial relationship or symbiotic mutualism. The main purpose of the aquaculture system is to maintain water quality and reduce ammonia levels from the water so that it can be utilized by other organisms. In addition, aquaculture can also save space and can produce two types of human food simultaneously, plants and livestock. Agricultural technology design with Aquaculture also uses the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) as information from sensors and sensors of value generator is accessible through applications installed on smartphones from anywhere with an Internet connection. Development of monitoring of aquaponic ecosystems with IoT systems was developed using a program using micro-controls to control temperature, humidity, pH levels and water pumps. There are some improvements made to this project.

Abstract:
Introduction. The relevance of the research lies in the study of the media coverage of cultural events of the national project “Culture”. The purpose of the research is to analyze the work of the mass media of the Republic of Mordovia to cover events related to the implementation of regional projects in the field of culture, and to study the public response to these events in order to improve them. Materials and Methods. Based on materials in regional mass media, including those in native languages and posted on social networks: a monitoring methodology was developed, including a summary table on information sources, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of events and responses to them; comparative and quantitative analysis of the activity of consumers (participants, readers, Internet users, etc.) was made and the quarterly dynamics of public interest in media materials was shown. Results. The prerequisites for successful media coverage of cultural events in epidemiological conditions, which are related to the speed of news release, easy navigation of electronic media versions, lack of strict moderation in social networks regarding users’ comments, were found. The dependence of the population activity to cultural events on external circumstances related to the situation of complete lockdown and other restrictions was revealed. Recommendations to improve the coverage of the national project activities were proposed in order to attract a wider public audience to cultural events. Discussion and the Conclusion. The conducted research contributes to the formation of favorable conditions for effective communication between cultural institutions and society in order to enhance digitalization and intensify social and cultural potential. The theoretical significance of the work consists in the methodology of monitoring the materials of the regional media in order to: increase attendance of cultural events; motivate participation in volunteer work; expand opportunities for self-realization and development of talents; educate a socially responsible person on the basis of values, historical, national and cultural traditions of the peoples of the Russian Federation. The practical significance of the study consists in recommendations how to improve the communication process between organizers of activities of the national project “Culture” and the consumer audience, as well as to use the regional projects potential (including digital) to improve the quality of life in the region.

Abstract:
Russian education is becoming increasingly competitive on the world stage. This is largely due to the fact that the authorities and education management of the Russian Federation, guided by the Federal law “on strategic planning in the Russian Federation” of 28.06.14. № 172-FZ conduct purposeful practice-oriented project work on medium-term and long-term improvement of regional education. Strategic planning documents in accordance with the Law must be published in the media for public discussion. It is necessary to help the residents of the region to show their civic activity in the process of evaluating the proposed activities for the development of education from a creative standpoint to ensure maximum self-realization of young people and their own self-development throughout life.

Abstract:
This paper assesses the comparative opportunities and limitations of ‘new’ and ‘old’ data sources for early warning, crisis response and violence research by comparing reports of political violence, and both violent and peaceful demonstrations, produced through social media and traditional media during the Kenyan elections in August and October 2017. We leverage data from a sample of social media reports of violence through public posts to Twitter and compare these with events coded from media and published sources by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) along two dimensions: 1) geography of violence; and 2) temporality of reporting. We find that the profile of violence recorded varies significantly by source. Records from Twitter are more geographically concentrated, particularly in the capital city and wealthier areas. They are timelier in the immediate period surrounding elections. Records from ACLED have a wider geographic reach, and are relatively more numerous than Twitter in rural and less wealthy areas. They are timelier and more consistent in the run-up to and following elections. While neither source can reveal the ‘true’ violence that occurred, the findings point to the value of drawing on a constellation of various source types given their complementary advantages.
