Full textMål och Syfte: Målet men den här uppsatsen är att undersöka hur dagens professionella
fotboll i allmänhet, och den svenska elitfotbollen i synnerhet, har medialiserats. Mitt primära
syfte med uppsatsen är att lämna ett bidrag till den samhällsvetenskapliga fotbollsforskningen
i Sverige. Jag har också som avsikt att undersöka hur de allsvenska klubbarna skulle kunna
uppnå sportsliga framgångar i de europeiska cuperna.
Tillvägagångssätt: Undersökningen har utförts på två olika sätt – jag har dels granskat
relevant forskning och information om den professionella fotbollens relation till medierna,
dels utfört expertintervjuer med personer som är insatta i svenska elitklubbar, i betydelsefulla
fotbollsorganisationer samt med journalister med goda kunskaper om den europeiska och
svenska fotbollen.
Teoretiskt perspektiv: Uppsatsens teoretiska del består av en forsknings- och
kunskapsöversikt där jag mejslar ut olika mediesportsforskares och journalisters argument och
reflektioner kring hur medierna påverkat och format den europeiska professionella fotbollen.
Teorierna och argumenten appliceras sedan för en analys av den svenska elitfotbollen.
Resultat: Undersökningen visade att den svenska elitfotbollen genomgår en omfattande
medialiseringsprocess, som har bidragit till att klubbarna markant ökat sina intäkter. Politiska
avregleringar på mediemarknaden, kommunikationsmediernas teknologiska utveckling samt
det omfattande fotbollsintresset bland befolkningen har lagt grunden för denna process.
Undersökningen pekade också på att Allsvenskans omfattande medieexponering bidrar till ett
ökat fotbollsintresse bland befolkningen i Sverige, vilken i sin tur leder till ökade publik-,
sponsor- och tv-intäkter för de allsvenska klubbarna. För att de allsvenska klubbarna ska
kunna uppnå sportsliga framgångar i de europeiska cuperna så har undersökningen resulterat i
följande framgångsfaktorer: Utveckling av mediestrategier, arenautveckling, slopning av RF:s
bolagiserings reglering, utökad organisationskompetens, förändrat skattesystem och
bekämpning av huliganismen

Full textSammanfattning Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka i vilken grad den politiskt styrda organisation SKL blivit medialiserad. Dessutom studera hur SKL i egenskap av att vara metaorganisation påverkar hur denna medialisering sker. För att åstadkomma detta undersöks hur SKL organiserar sig internt för att kunna bedriva medial opinionsbildning inom en av deras prioriterade verksamhetsfrågor, ökat bostadsbyggande. Därtill var ett ytterligare syfte att likställa SKL:s medialiseringsprocess mot medialiseringsprocesserna för hela det politiska systemet. Metod: Det här är en kvalitativ studie där insamling av det empiriska materialet har skett genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer och fältobservationer. Material: Totalt åtta intervjuer genomfördes. Fyra tycken från avdelningen för kommunikation, tre från avdelningen tillväxt och samhällsbyggnad och en från avdelningen VD-stab. Därtill har fyra observationer genomförts för att komplettera de intervjuer som gjorts. Resultat: Resultatet av undersökningen visar att SKL har blivit medialiserad utifrån två definierade medialiseringsfaser. Det betyder att SKL anpassar sig till medielogik för att kunna möta mediernas behov. Resultatet visar att denna anpassning görs för att kunna använda media som en arena för de budskap som man vill förmedla i opinionsbildande syften inom bostadsfrågan vilket skiljer sig från vad mycket av litteraturen om politisk medialisering säger. SKL som metaorganisationen har också inga stora problem med att hantera sina medlemmar in denna medialiseringsprocess och har heller ingen påverkan på hur den sker. Däremot kan SKL som metaorganisation förstärka sitt innehåll i de mediala produkter som produceras i syftet att vara opinionsbildande. Inga övertygande bevis kan dock inte göras för att se SKL:s medialisering som en representant för medialiseringen av det hela politiska systemet. Det här på grund av att SKL som organisationen har ett annat sätt att vara verksam på vilket gör att deras anpassning till medielogik inte med säkerhet går att säga är densamma som anda politiska institutionernas anpassning.

Full textThis study has examined the mediatization of the social movement Refugees Welcome to Gothenburg. By identifying social practices at a meso level within Refugees Welcome to Gothenburg, mediation processes have been found. The analysis at a macro level (in relation with the society) have then led to the understanding of the mediation processes. The material selection has been made on social media and on the website of Refugees Welcome to Gothenburg. The analysis is based on a conceptual framework by Alice Mattoni and Emiliano Treré (2014), combined with mediatization theories, and more specifically, the four processes of social change within mediatization by Winfried Schulz (2004) together with the media logics in social media by José van Dijck and Thomas Poell (2013). A qualitative text analysis was used in order to study the material. The analysis was performed at two levels, firstly, at a meso level to identify the social practices and the mediation processes, and secondly, at a macro level to find the mediatization of Refugees Welcome to Gothenburg. The results showed that Refugees Welcome to Gothenburg has a strong mediatization, but at the same time, not completely. Some social practices have not been mediated. The non-mediated social practices, however, have shown an amalgamation (joining) with the mediated social practices. Finally, the essay has also shown that social movements should be studied from a media perspective even further, to be able to understand functions and changes within them.

Full textHow does football clubs in Sweden's highest league reason about mediatizations influence andwhat role has covid-19 played in this development? I have conducted qualitative interviews froma constructivist perspective with communication managers from seven clubs. With aninstitutional theoretical perspective, this study has the ambition to show mediatization's influenceon Swedish elite football in a covid-19 context. The interviewees experience that the relevance ofmedia has increased. Which is a consequence of change in the society on one hand and covid-19on the other hand. The pandemic has accelerated the mediatization process, where the club'scommunication with supporters, sponsors and other stakeholders have been influenced by themedia. I argue that the clubs have changed character, function and structure as a consequence ofcovid-19. Today they act both as an entertainment company, commercialized company and alsoa sports association. The study demonstrates swedish football clubs' special situation in relationto modern football. Where they partly compete with international gigants while still being drivenby a local workforce.

With this change in mind, it’s interesting to to study how PR-consultants works with news values as a strategic communication tool. The goal with this study was therefore to investigate what classifies as news value in a swedish context as well as to find out if and how these are used by PR-consultants in the creation of press releases.Methods: The study was conducted using semi-structured qualitative tematic interviews with five PR-consultants at three different PR-companies in Sweden. Furthermore we conducted qualitative retoric textanalysis using one press release from each PR-consultant. Results: The study shows that our selected news values are being utilized by PR- consultants in their work with press releases. The study also shows that what the interviewees said and what they actually did in their work with press releases, did not correspond. The utilization of news value criteria could therefore partly be due to conscious and subconscious actions. While some of the PR-consultants stated that they use strategies related to news values others seemed to think they simply use their intuition. Overall the result shows that PR-consultans have a similar view on news values and they all agree on that the journalist works as the gatekeeper and has the final say in what gets publicized or not.

Full textMy study deals with, defines and discusses the concept of fashion activism, how fashion can serve as a communicative medium in an activist or political act. My purpose is toinvestigate what it looks like when fashion is used as an activist expression or as politicalcommunication with focus on Sweden. Furthermore, can fashion be considered as amedium to communicate activism? Since fashion activism is communicative is it alsointeresting to examine how the medialization has influenced the decisions of fashionactivists. I have conducted qualitative research interviews with three fashion activists whoare active in various areas of the fashion field. Additionally, I have performed a semioticanalysis of six different images, to obtain signs of fashion activism. My analysis is based oninformation from my literature review as well as my chosen theories where i analyzed theimpact of the medialization theory, Bourdieu's theory regarding field and habitus, Simmel'sthoughts on fashion as a medium and Barthes semiotic theory and method regarding howmyths and signs can affect the representation.The main conclusion is that fashion can act as a medium for political messages and swedish fashion activism deals mainly with breaking structures and changing of norms.

Full textIn this paper we aim to gain understanding about football fans' own experiences during the increasing mediatization, a process that has been accelerated during the ongoing pandemic. We have through ethnographic methods, where semi structured interviews and ethnographic observations have been central, tried to gain knowledge about how individual experiences and commitments changed during a time of increased mediatization. By applying Schulz (2004) four aspects of mediatization to our gained material, we could see that the fan culture in football has actually changed as a result of the mediatization and pandemic. This change means that new forms of fan cultures have been able to emerge and have changed fans' experiences of football and their opportunities for commitment. We could see that the changes that meditization has brought about has taken on different expressions depending on whether you were a fan of a local or international team. For the majority of the local fans, the empty stands have meant a reduced interest in their own team but an increased interest in football in general, where the big international leagues and teams have received the most attention. For the international fans, the increased mediatization has meant an increased media interest in other international teams and players than their own. We could also see that many of the feelings we traditionally associated with football fans have changed as a result of the change in interest.

Full textThe Nord Stream natural gas pipeline has been a controversial project. The debate was primarily escalated by Poland's strong negative reaction to the project in the spring of 2006 over safety and security and then alternated back and forth in Europe until the approval by the nations most concerned in the Baltic region during the autumn of 2009.In the case study an approach is used that primarily maps out the media image of the various viewpoints that deal with the pipeline and how these viewpoints position themselves, primarily through political and environmental dimensions. Simultaneously there’s an attempt to map out the spatial spread of the media image views as to the proximity and distance to the pipeline in Sweden, Poland and Germany. A key question is whether distance or proximity to a large facility can affect people's attitudes.A parallel focus of the study is to explore the role of the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline in the cross-border hinterland region of Szczecin-Świnoujście. The complex cross-border relationship between Germany and Poland is characterized by the opportunities and obstacles to mobility & the potential of conflict between the needs of the individual vs. the state, partly due to an unbalanced hierarchy between the two nations.An understanding of the pipeline's impact on the border region is shown in part by an analysis of the city of Szczecin's theoretical potential in its hinterland, with special reference to the impact of the state boundary before and after Poland's entry into the European Union and the Schengen regime.Other contributions to the outline of this thesis deal partly with Medialisation and Framing, as the media-investigation in the study handles concerns, arguments and opinions about the pipeline-project, highlighted by the media. Another subject deals with risk assessment, as no one can be certain what will happen in case of an accident to the pipeline.A general concluding comment to the results of the media-investigation is that they are too parsimonious. However there are some assumptions to be made: In the resulting discussion it is argued, among other things, that from the political aspect both Poland and Sweden share a negative opinion towards the pipeline, while the opinion of German people appears positive to the project, according to the media viewpoints. The debate was primarily escalated by Poland's strong negative reaction to the project in the spring of 2006 over safety and security and then alternated back and forth in Europe until the approval by the nations most concerned in the Baltic region during the autumn of 2009.In the case study an approach is used that primarily maps out the media image of the various viewpoints that deal with the pipeline and how these viewpoints position themselves, primarily through political and environmental dimensions. Simultaneously there’s an attempt to map out the spatial spread of the media image views as to the proximity and distance to the pipeline in Sweden, Poland and Germany. A key question is whether distance or proximity to a large facility can affect people's attitudes.A parallel focus of the study is to explore the role of the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline in the cross-border hinterland region of Szczecin-Świnoujście. The complex cross-border relationship between Germany and Poland is characterized by the opportunities and obstacles to mobility & the potential of conflict between the needs of the individual vs. the state, partly due to an unbalanced hierarchy between the two nations.An understanding of the pipeline's impact on the border region is shown in part by an analysis of the city of Szczecin's theoretical potential in its hinterland, with special reference to the impact of the state boundary before and after Poland's entry into the European Union and the Schengen regime.Other contributions to the outline of this thesis deal partly with Medialisation and Framing, as the media-investigation in the study handles concerns, arguments and opinions about the pipeline-project, highlighted by the media. Another subject deals with risk assessment, as no one can be certain what will happen in case of an accident to the pipeline.A general concluding comment to the results of the media-investigation is that they are too parsimonious. However there are some assumptions to be made: In the resulting discussion it is argued, among other things, that from the political aspect both Poland and Sweden share a negative opinion towards the pipeline, while the opinion of German people appears positive to the project, according to the media viewpoints. Full textThe purpose of this paper is to find out how young people in the ages 16-25 comprehend and perceive native advertising on Instagram and how their attitude is to the advertising phenomenon, as well as the general use of Instagram as a social media. In this case, the hidden advertisement is on Instagram celebrity accounts in the form of sponsored contests. This study has been conducted with six focus groups as a method and has since been analyzed using identity, uses and gratification, representation, two-step flow of communication and mediation as a theoretical basis. The result of this study is that the native advertising in the form of contests is perceived and interpreted as advertising. In the first instance, the attitude of the hidden advertisement is negative, yet a majority of respondents have participated. If the price is good enough, the attitude of native advertising as something negative disappear. In addition, it can be concluded that Instagram as a platform is used daily, often as a pastime or for confirmation or inspiration

Full textPolitiken i Sverige har de senaste åren blivit allt mer medialiserad, vilket innebär att medierna har en stor makt att påverka politiken indirekt eftersom det är via dem som nyheter och information sprids. Inom det politiska området har Public Relations (PR) fått ett allt större utrymme genom dess arbete med organisationer, politiska organ/ aktörer, journalister och media och så vidare. PR-bolagen arbetar i det ”dolda” och det framgår inte alltid för mottagaren att det är en PR-byrå som konstruerat meddelandet. Eftersom PR-byråerna har ett stort nätverk har de således många kontakter, vilket ger dem en viss makt när det gäller olika sakfrågor eftersom de använder sig i hög grad av lobbning för att åstadkomma opinionsbildning och annan påverkan. PR-byråerna arbetar således mycket med bland annat opinionsbildning och verkar för att deras klienter ska få utrymme i medierna. Förutom detta arbetar de även med krishantering och enskilda politiker. Detta arbete ger PR-byråerna viss påverkansmakt, men väcker även frågor om etik och moral. Etiska dilemman finns i alla branscher och finns även inom PR. Vissa forskare beskriver etik inom PR som något individen själv tar ställning till och inte något som är branschorienterat. Normen är exempelvis att alla tar jobben som de får in, vilket kan ses som en moralisk tveksamhet. Denna uppsats syftar till att genom kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer undersöka hur PR-byråer och dess konsulter arbetar med frågor om makt, etik, opinionsbildning, lobbning och sociala medier.

Full textThe aim of this paper was to examine how media logic’s are expressed in Save the children’s and Sweden for UNHCR’s video material during the migrant crisis. Since the majority of the mediatization research in the Swedish context has focused on the party leaders and political communication, there is a lack of awareness regarding how media logic shapes other spheres in the community. This study’s objective was to examine video material through semiotic and multimodal analysis, to identify media logics. In total four videos from two nonprofit organizations, that were published in September 2015, were analyzed based on the understanding of media logics. Two distinctive themes appeared in the results. These were titled migrant crisis as empathy and migrant crisis as reality. From these, four subthemes appeared. These were titled dramatization, documentation, advertising formats and news format. The result shows that personalization occurs strongly in all of our study. Our study contributes to the research field with knowledge about stereotypes of refugees. We found a new kind of stereotype that we have chosen to call the determined refugee. The choice of name for this category is based on our interpretation of a refugee as determined to survive. In addition to the study’s contribution of how the representation of refugees among nonprofit organizations now take a new form, we also found a not previously documented representation of refugees like the crowd when it comes to the welfare background. Our study contributes to knowledge about how mediatization is expressed in strategic communication.

Full textThe purpose of this paper is to investigate how scandals involving government agencies are created in relation to print media and authorities’ own statements. This is done from a discourse theoretical perspective by investigating the discourses that are constituted and functioning in the development of scandals. In addition to the critical discourse theory, we also use theories of impression management and medialization to analyze the material through a critical discourse analysis. The choice of critical discourse analysis as the methodology has been made because of its connection to the critical discourse theory, which sees discourses and social practices as mutually constitutive and constitutional. The analyzed material has been taken from the Swedish daily and evening newspapers Dagens Industri, Dagens nyheter and Aftonbladet, and Swedish Transport Agency’s (Transportstyrelsen) and Pension Authority’s (Pensionsmyndigheten) own statements from the respective authorities website. The main result of the study was that authorities tend to respond to the reporting in print media and then adjust their communication accordingly. The printed media thus have the power to challenge and discourage the norm violation that the scandal implies. A discourse that the authorities are therefore forced to respond to and challenge to avoid their own activities being perceived as deviating in relation to this discourse.
