Full textThe power of women in politics, before, during and after colonization, has not declined with the power of media. Through the associative life, women have managed to prevail by empowerment in civil society, despite the constraints of polygamy, excision and levirate marriage, since the time of independence in 1960. But with the informal trade, women come together to develop a strategy to escape. The emergence of a feminine power, could waver existing strengths. About polygamy, what could be more natural to have several wives for a Muslim, to the extent that religion encourages it. While ignorance of family planning, the repetition of birth, make them sick and destroyed the integrity of women. Regarding informal trade, becomes a lever of emancipation which affirm their social, economic empowerment and recognition of the society to care after for their ''Borom Kër'', the householder. The future is concentrated in associative areas in different villages. The group therefore allows women an education and a reduction of illiteracy. Awareness of their power over men is present in their work force. When Wolof woman managed to supplant her husband by informal trade, went to meetings of women, it's kneel and humbly ask her husband's permission. This allows him to leave. This is necessary, despite the economic independence of women. Its lower about the rights is important for the future of children. Full textCombining a sociohistory of representations and an analysis of television news items, this thesis considers how national TV news discourses (re)configure motherhood and fatherhood, masculinities and femininities, from 1962 to 2018.Infanticide was first invisibilized by the French State television, which was reluctant to portray crimes that threatened to weaken national unity, and thereafter set aside by editorial staffs unwilling to feature family disorders. It eventually gained representation in the second half of the 1980s, after the television sector was progressively opened to competition. During that period, the recognition of children as persons and the rise of figures of victimhood contributed to the simplified representation of family as a dangerous place. However, the parental dimension of the crimes was still rarely discussed: women were usually shown as sick mothers and fathers as violent men. From 2005 on, media coverage of the phenomenon exploded, before drastically falling a decade later. The showing of individualized parental figures goes hand in hand with an increased problematization of motherhood and fatherhood. While the majority of female criminals are presented as “good mothers”, the devastating effects of oblative maternity on personal well-being were given more consideration. As the part they play remains peripheral to a family unit they still depend upon, men are only very slowly embracing the culture of intimacy. All in all, media representations influence the tensions endured by motherhood and fatherhood, as they engage with second modernity: they challenge feminine identity sacrifices and the weak integration of fathers within the relational family
Rougeul, Françoise. "Formation du système thérapeutique et affiliation au cours du premier entretien." Paris 10, 1988. http://www.theses.fr/1988PA100047.
Full textThe present work is a study of the way therapist and family become affiliated in the course of their very first interview, the process being supposed to condition the further evolution of the therapy either to a stop or to a follow on. Another aim is to develop a method for a multidimensional analysis of the interviews. From a therapeutic point of view, the concept of affiliation is interpreted in the light of two principles originating in biology; the principle of complexity from noise (H. Atlan) and the principle of informational closure in autonomous systems (Maturana and Varela). The hypothesis is that affiliation will exist only inasmuch as the therapeutic system is able to develop self-organizing characteristics which become manifest through specific configurations of interaction between therapists and family members. Another hypothesis is that, for its constitution, affiliation is dependent on the elaboration of a collective myth where new meanings are worked out. This myth would be related with the effective constitution of the therapeutic system into a specific autonomous system with informational closure

Full textBased on a corpus which consists of 150 family books written between 1260 and 1480, this study intends to define the representations that Florence citizens had of their republic, of its running and of their role within it.The first part aims at identifying which room is given to historical and political passages in these books, and the functions of these excerpts in the overall writing strategy. The point is to study how the building of family identity was connected to the life of the city. The second part contains a stylistic and semantic analysis of the narrative parts that are dedicated to the major events of the 14th and 15th centuries. It offers a series of snapshots that define several specific configurations of the city’s political body and of how families refer to it. This textual analysis also provides us an image of the Florentine intellectual framework and a list of the key-concepts that characterized the political thought of the authors – which goes far beyond a mere interest in chronicles. The third part focuses on the use of those keywords in a diachronic perspective, in order to identify the evolutions, the involutions and the breaking points of this thought over the generations, and questions the link between citizens’ active political participation and their private writing on city affairs. The appendix presents transcriptions of the excerpts on the life of the city contained in the unpublished family books of the Florentine families, as well as biographical notes on their often unknown authors

Full textOry, Lorraine. "Maladie d’Alzheimer et sexualité : scripts et représentations des familles et du personnel soignant." Thesis, Paris 8, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018PA080050/document.
Full textThis dissertation adopts a constructivist and critical approach of the subject “Alzheimer and sexuality”, by focusing on how relatives and health professionals perceive sexuality. Forty-three interviews were conducted among these two groups and analyzed by grounded theory. By combining the sexual script theory with social representation theory, this research presents in a first part a typology of the representations of the people labeled Alzheimer (PLA), that are mainly characterized by abnormalization. The second part shows that the scripts and representations are not used in the same way by health professionals and relatives. While professionals tend to conceive the PLA’s sexuality as problematic, relatives see it as secondary. In a last part, the subjectivities of health professionals and relatives are analyzed in their social context, allowing to shed light on the singularity and the complexity of their individual positions. Eventually, this work highlights the mechanisms of construction of otherness, leading to forms of ageism and validism manifested by the prohibition of PLA’s sexuality, its limitation, or its unthinkable nature

Full textThe chimerical oncogene BCR-ABL is known to induce autonomous motility of leukemic cells. We previously showed that p210bcr-abl responsible for chronic myelogenous leukaemia activates RhoA and Rac1, while p190bcr-abl, associated with acute lymphoid leukaemia, although devoid of a DH domain activates Rac1, but not RhoA. Moreover p95vav is present in an activated state in complex with Bcr-Abl. Here, we investigated the regulation of GEF activities in the BCR-ABL complex. For that purpose, different GEF activity mutants of Vav and of BCR-ABL were constructed and stably transfected in Ba/F3 cells. We demonstrated that RhoA is exclusively activated by the DH domain of p210bcr-abl, while Rac1 activation was only due to Vav. We show that p210bcr-abl induces a specific amoeboid mobility which is due to RhoA activity, while p190bcr-abl induces a rolling type mobility associated with Rac1 activity. Finally, our results reveal a synergistic mechanism between BCR-ABL and Vav GEFs. Moreover, we demonstrated the presence of Vav2 and GTPase RhoG in the complex with Bcr-Abl. This new signaling pathway cooperates with Vav to activate Rac1 and probably Cdc42. Recently, using blood patient samples, we proved that our model of differential activation of Rho GTPases in leukemia disease is valid. We proposed a molecular study to follow up the leukemia diseases of patients
Stallini, Sophie. "La « sacra rappresentazione » entre les Médicis et Saint-Marc." Thesis, Paris 3, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA030110.
Full textThe sacre rappresentazioni [a theatrical genre, generally unfamiliar] are born in Florence, in the mid-fifteenth century, led by the Dominicans of San Marco. The purposes of this theatre are primarily educational. Children, at the time, are in the centre of important civil and religious interests. They must become both good citizens and good Christians. Practicing theatre was, from the point of vue of St Antoninus [the prior of San Marco’s convent], a fun way for children to acquire knowledge of the Scriptures and to meditate on the exemplary protagonists. The laymen who composed the sacre rappresentazioni have also in common (in most cases) to be close to the Medici family: they are craftsmen or state officials, and their private interests or their friendship led them to frequent the great men of the family. The Medici and the San Marco's convent: the sacre rappresentazioni evolve and, in some way, depend on these two poles of power. They condition their development; their transition from an oral form strongly bound to the occasion and its representation, to an erastz of pious literature, intended to be read and forgotten will depend on them too. The sacra rappresentazione has long generated the disinterest or contempt of criticism. However, it is an irreplaceable filter into the heart of the Florentine Quattrocento, in the heart of the society spirit, of modes of life, modes of think that seems to have stratified between the lines
Moulin, Cécile. "La recherche d'un équilibre entre le droit à l'information de la parentèle et le droit au secret du patient au gré de l'évolution de la médecine génétique." Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018AIXM0775.
Full textThe recent attraction of the French authorities for the development of the genetic medicine drew our attention. The establishment of the project "France genomic 2025” tends to place the genetic medicine in the center of the medical services. However, it engenders complex ethical and legal questions. The interest of the relatives to be informed in case of a serious risk for their health have raised wide debates. The protection of the health of these third parties in the patient—physician relationship enters in conflict with the patient’s right of confidentiality. French authorities were among the first to try to create a balance between those two interests. The objective of this analysis will be to identify the difficulties met by the parliament and to propose solutions to advance the French law in its research of creation of a just balance between the rights of the patients and the allies. This joint study of the French and foreign rights will lead us to propose the creation of a new tool of balance in the service of the public health

Full textThis work examines the pisan elite in the sixteenth century after the fall of the florentine republic and the establishment of the medicean duchy. The ruling group who possesses the full exercise of citizenship takes an active participation in the local magistracies as priors or reformators. Under the first three grand dukes, cosimo i (1537-1574), francesco i (1574-1587) and ferdinando i (1587-1609), this elite is faced with the increasing requirements of ducal administration : control over the priors' activities, supervision over the luoghi pii, strict laws on tax-exemptions. Nonetheless, the pisan notables succeed in keeping good relations with cosimo i, who has promised his personal protection to the fedelissima citta di pisa. He restores the university of pisa, encourages trade and manufactures, reorganises the magistracy of the ufficio dei fossi. Political relations between florence and pisa are much more difficult under francesco i because of the economic crisis of the 1580's. The third grand-duke ferdinando, who returns to the style of cosimo, pays more attention to provincial elites. In the last decades of the xvith century, the main pisan families lay claim to recognition as a noble group. The transformation of citizens into nobles gradually occurs through the end of the xvith and the beginning of the xviith century. Pisan notables become more sensitive to noble status their family life. Shifting investments from business to land, most families extend their property in thecontado pisano. The admission in the order of saint stephen and the order of malta appears as the best way to reach nobility. By exhibiting proofs of nobility such as genealogies, family trees, chronicles, coats of arms, every noble pisan family tries to gain the honor of becoming a knight. When the grand duke stays in pisa, pisan notables now appear as nobles, admitted to court and providing for such festivities as the gioco del ponte

Thesis, Tours, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015TOUR2008/document.
Full textThe general purpose of this doctoral dissertation was to contribute to identify triggers to preserve workers’ psychological health and reduce some of their negative attitudes and behaviors which appear to be harmful to healthcare organizations. Moreover, we aimed to understand the mechanisms underlying such effects. Study 1 used a cross-sectional design to demonstrate that psychosocial safety climate (i.e., PSC) was negatively related to nursing staff’s work-family conflict (i.e., WFC) and turnover intentions, through the mediation of psychological need thwarting. Study 2 developed these results by showing how PSC, through its influence on psychological need thwarting, related to a decrease in burnout three months later. Burnout itself explained an increase in WFC and turnover intentions. Study 3 focused on managers’ psychological health and found that emotional dissonance and organizational resources influenced managers lack of psychological detachment and work engagement three months later, through psychological need thwarting and satisfaction. Altogether, these studies contribute to self-determination theory in the work setting and offer some perspectives on organizational practices that could lastingly alter healthcare employees’ professional experience

Full textThe power of the Medici, bankers which appear under the Republic and become dukes of Tuscany in 1530 as a result of a war against their own fatherland, is suffering an original lack of legitimacy. What solutions will they be able to bring to the headache of a glorious, but dangerous during a time of decline, Storia Patria ? How will the dynasty manage to produce a story to found their power on ? Three are the stages of the demonstration : the first one points out the disparition of florentine's historiography during the seicento, after the study of censorship which reveals what the Medici considered as secrets of State. The second stage of the demonstration shows how they bring tuscan history "out of" Firenze and its republican frame. The last part brings to light the existence of proliferating historian practices, which are not bent towards the writing of history, but vowed to its sole knowledge - thus studying the ways and places of its symbolic, politic, and social "reinvestment"

Full textDedicated to the evolution of the institutionalized old patients, this thesis has for objective to determine in which measure staff competencies and family members satisfaction with care entail positive consequences on the physical and psychological health of residents with probable Alzheimer's disease. The absence of French tools, led us on one hand to the adaptation of the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Test of Dieckmann and al. (1988), and on the other hand to create two scales to assess staff attitudes and family satisfaction. The studies of validation realized in 8 facilities with a sample of 161 nursing staff and of 102 family members, support psychometric qualities of resultant measures. To test our interactionist model, we proceded to the comparison of a special care unit (SCU) and a long-term care service, for whom the differences of average scores in scales appeared during the statistical analysis. The folllow-up over six months and the multidimensional evaluation (behaviour, functional status, etc. . . ) of 16 patients staying in these two structures matched for several criteria (age, mobility, etc. . . ) does not reveal significant differences of the profiles of cognitive and functional performances of the patients of the special care unit and those staying in the traditional unit. So, we were brought to question the criteria of definition of a "Alzheimer Unit" and the characteristics of the patients who are welcomed there in order to highlight these results which relate a trajectory of faster decline at behavioural level, to propose therapeutic alternatives turned to the improvement of geriatric facilities and the education of professional practices porters of creativity
Salviati, Sophie. "La politique orientale des premiers Médicis (1434-1492)." Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012TOU20106.
Full textUnder the rule of Cosimo the Elder then Piero the Gouty and Lorenzo the Magnificent, the Florence of the Medici throughout the fifteenth century maintained increasingly tighter and more ambiguous relationships with the Eastern Ottoman empire which appeared both an attractive enemy and a formidable model with its fascinating exoticism and power. The Turkish civilisation attracted the Florentines dazzled by the different culture and the huge commercial possibilities it offered. What was then the real position of Florence caught between its wish to stand as the bulwark of Christendom (and therefore staunchly opposed to the Eastern invasion) and its natural inclination for a rich, refined country? What was the impact of the links between Florence and the Oriental Empire on fifteenth century Europe? This study aims at explaining the relationships between Florence and the Oriental world from the coming into power of Cosimo in 1434 until the death of his grandson Lorenzo in 1492: according to the ups and downs of cultural and diplomatic relashionships, Florence appeared one moment as the protection of the Oriental Christians threatened by the expansion of Mehmet II’s empire and the next as an alternative to their mother country by integrating Greek elements and compromising with the Sultan’s power, to eventually become the unofficial ally of the powerful emperor feared by all European states

Full textAlzheimer's dementia is currently incurable neurodegenerative disorder, its support remains a public health problem at international level. It has over 32 million people worldwide and approximately 1000. 000 cases in France. Caring for people with this disorder are physically and psychologically stressful for caregivers and family caregivers. The question of stress, burnout and their corollaries is acute insofar as the consequences of dependence on the Alzheimer patient caregivers and caregivers are multiple, including: insomnia, anxiety, social isolation, irritability, tiredness, nervous breakdown, musculoskeletal diseases, tension within the teams, family crises, the desire for euthanasia, investment, anticipatory grief, etc. The intersection approaches: systemic, psychological and psychoanalytic was necessary for this study. The clinical interviews undirected and the award of scales of Burn-out and the Zarit Burden performed with 23 caregivers and 14 primary caregivers have the opportunity to identify and verify the potential existence of some exhaustion for our two peoples. The thematic analysis of interviews and performance scales were used to assess the magnitude of the burden on caregivers in their home caregivers and those within EHPAD

Full textIn this thesis, starting from a sample representative of 109 families, we described, for the first time, the impact of the disease of Alzheimer on the trajectory of the families. While referring to us primarily with systemic epistemology, we analyzed and commented on the results which we obtained at the time of our investigation. During the evolution of the disease, the families will know three times. Initially, they are drawn with the variation from their homeostatic balance. Then, they cross one period of suffering. And, finally, they choose bad good solutions. These three times are distributed around two crises hinges which show a modification of the relational patterns within the family. The first crisis allows the passage of the abstract assistance to the natural assistance by the designation of one caregiver. That this designation is explicit or implicit, it opens one period when the families and caregiver have more the need for material aid and psychological support, which they do not find inevitably. The second crisis puts a term at family uncertainties by framing in a rather rigid way, with the assistance of the professionals, the catch in care of the patient. In this third stage, it is not rare that family's caregivers are disqualified, in particular during the placements in old people's home. Such a modelling is of unquestionable interest for the whole of the actors of the gerontology's field, and more particularly for the psychologist clinician, because it brings a useful lighting on the stakes of the requests of the families confronted with the Alzheimer's disease

Full textThe “coma’s language” can be a surprising expression, if we regard the coma as the silence of the resuscitated patient’s speech. The words “coma” and “resuscitation” affect also the speech of the other one, often making him speechless in front of the violence of a somatic collapse that does not say its name. In a space where the death pulsion is at work, calling into question the time divisions, a language appears suddenly of its interstice and come and say something to the resuscitated subject, in its temporization and spatialization. As a circumstantial language, it is composed of figure of speech to compensate for impossible representations: it put the close relatives and the medical in a real bilingualism and the patient in a phenomenological representation “d’être-au-monde”. The language, at the same time tool and subject of the psychoanalysis allow us to think the conditions of a psychological resuscitation that would go with the medical resuscitation

Full textMy thesis addresses the issue of the Medici’s power through the performances before the court and public events from the times of Lorenzo the Magnificent to the death of Cosmo II. Demonstrating that festivities contributed to consolidate the Medici’s power in Florence is the goal of my work. The establishment of the Medici’s power and the assertion of their identity can’t be separated from their cultural politics as they wished to appear as patrons and partake in the admiration people had for their city. The theme of the transformation of the Florentine city and its palaces, through celebrations, echoes that of the transformation of the Medici’s power and thus, reflects its gradual assertion.Through the many events which set the tempo of the Florentine city, festivities introduced new ways of thinking and considering; despite its ephemeral aspect, celebration allowed the Medici to establish their authority while endowing them with prestige

Full textThis work presents a series of studies of different forms of artistic decorations, permanent or ephemeral, conceived in rome and in florence for francesco i and ferdinando i de' medici, mainly between 1575 and 1590. The modalities of the decorations are both material and thematic. Material with frescoes, easel or wood-paintings in ceilings, grottoes covere d by mineral substances variably mould or designed, ephemeral structures, settings and costumes, automatons, etc. Thematic since this thesis is divided into four sections dedicated to the relationships of the decoration with (1) the political sphere as seen through territorial and dynastic ideologies, (2) to cosmology (elements, planets), (3-4) to the natural sciences (ornithology, botany, mineralogy, teratology), as well as to eclectical collectionism. The first point deals with princely entries in florence and pisa, and with their relationships to permanent decorations. The seco nd part is dedicated to the cosmological, astrological and magical programs at villa medici and palazzo firenze in rome, and in the florentine intermezzi of 1589. The third section is mainly about gardens : the "stanzino degli uccelli" in ro me and the grottoes of boboli and pratolino with their automatons. The fourth part treats of grotesques, from the large decoration of the uffizi gallery studied in its structural links with the kunst-and-wunderkammern, the hybrid and the monstruous, and the burlesque poetry

Full textThe concern of others suffering to be accompanied up to the last breath becomes to the liking of social and parental mutations, more a medical and paramedical preoccupation rather than a family and good citizen one. In most cases the hospital is where they die, even if it is at the home, surrounded by loved ones that they would wish to be. Trained to care for, medical staff feels devoid for this ultimate accompaniment. To face up this new responsibility, new diplomas and courses appeared: Diplömes Universitaires of Palliative Care and Accompaniment. Theses programs aim at providing multidisciplinary training courses to health professionals. This thesis emphasizes the above mentioned topic which rests upon the findings of “experience of the certificate of Tours, France,” one of the pioneers and in addition to a partnership initiative. The interrelational dynamics are particularly studied, across an inquiry of 80 health care professionals students of 4 graduating promotions. The analysis goes beyond the usual professional and scientifico-technical dimensions of the training and generates a new process of transactions and interactions when facing having to face a critical situation, whether being alone or supported by others. The doctors revisit their initial technical and scientific based training and aim at a process of self directed one. The nurses, while approaching the patient from a general and global stand point, develop an organizational mind set of heterogeneous and eco-training. The nursing auxiliaries, by sharing knowledge, theoretical acquisitions and performing their daily tasks, enter in a process of co-training. Such intense relational dynamics reflections as listed above, all integrated within a learning program on borders of life and death, call for a more complete and diversified training of the medical staff , an anthropo-training including newer, more holistic data consideration

Full textStemming from published and unbublished writings of Vincenzo Borghini (1515-1580), this Dissertation questions the role Florentine Benedictine friar Vincenzo Borghini (1515-1580) played in the cultural policies of the Medici, particularly the way he reconciled erudition and political consciousness, his passion for art and his respect for the new Church prescriptions. The use of History was important at a time when Cosimo was trying to strengthen the political clout of Tuscany, in Italy and among great European powers, by obtaining the grand-duke crown. Having hoped, in vain, that the Emperor would grant him this title, he turned to the papacy. In the face of such stakes, the role of Borghini, a man with multiple hats, was a complex one. The way he made use of history evolved in conjunction with what he called the «circustanze de’ tempi di parte». Borghini's young years help us understand the essential position he occupied within the ducal court. His approach to history finds its roots in his formative years and his acquaintance with prominent people like Vettori and Vasari. He provided the latter with fundamental advice for the theoretical conception of the Vite. The 60s were testament to a new approach: Borghini was, with a few others, in charge of writing up the treaty describing the great pageants he himself had originally devised. Given their role in the elaboration of an oriented memory, those texts can be considered to be a kind of kind of micro-history. The 70s showed the transition from the micro-history of descriptions of the pageants to writing and correcting treaty dealing with universal history. Obtaining the the title of Grand duke is not any more politically at stake; what matters now is making sure it is legitimized. Borghini's historical research synthesizes all the activities he carried out while serving the Medici family. Full textRenewing traditional approaches to court studies, this Ph. D. Proposes to study the court of Tuscany, not from the point of view of the Prince, but from that of the courtiers. The thesis focuses on the group of the Gentlemen of the Privy Chamber, who are studied thanks to an approach that combines both prosopography and biography. Thus the Ph. D. Strives to grasp the precise role and attributions of these courtiers as well as their relationships with court institutions. The idea is to find out whether to a title corresponds one type of individual. In the process, the characteristics traditionally associated to courtiers, such as their involvement in set social networks or in court life, are systematically re-examined. To a sociological reading of the court inspired by Norbert Elias, is therefore substituted a historical one that studies courtiers in the specific context of the negotiated relationships linking the Medici and their subjects

Full textIn the context of perinatal nexus, there are differences between the preventive and therapeutic purposes set for the baby and her/his parents on one hand and actual experiences on the other hand. In this research, we wish to develop some reflections about these differences, by mainly resorting to clinical psychology and psychopathology approaches, with ethno-psychological, psychoanalytic and systemic views to grasp the complexity of this theme. Our hypothesis is that a better understanding of the mental shaping of network around the birth could proceed from : - acknowledging this mental shaping in network for each and all partners, professional and parent, as specific mind shaping of network in intra, inter and trans-subjective groups. - taking into account the resistances and resources fitted to mental shaping of network, that hinder and/or support the dynamic qualities of perceptive processes that partake and originate in this care organisation and which weaken and/or prop up its preventive and therapeutic potentialities.Using an ethno-biographical method, a data collection of the birth protagonists’ (the families and medical-nursing staff) perceptions of perinatal nexus and the part played by each one of them in it, made in obstetric, paediatric and child psychiatric units, in Languedoc-Roussillon, from 2005 to 2009. From the data analysis and from three clinical examples, were particularly examined psychological elaborations and processes that originate and partake in the established birth nexus. This analysis, made complete with some contributions of chaos theoreticians, leads to a pattern of understanding of the mind shaping in this specific perinatal network. This model suggests to proceed from : - simultaneous psychological analysis of clinical situation in five levels ; conscious individual level, unconscious individual level, conscious group level, unconscious group level and various network levels (system-network, locally and informally network, formal closeness network, family-network, professional-network, mental shaping in network). - the key-protagonists’ identification and instrumentalization of this method; “the” referent, “the” guarantor and “the” involved.Facing thoughts about child birth, everyone (the families and medical-nursing staff) sets up psychological elaborations and processes that originate and partake in specific perinatal nexus, through psychological and complexe dynamics, which emerges the subject “from”, “in”, “between” and “through” human group(s), in order to permit adequate defensive adaptability when facing feelings partaking and originating in coming and bringing into the world. In between the demands and possibilities of each protagonist, a dynamic weaving of thoughts is ranging from being tune to being out of tune : there lies a mind shaping of network whose flexibility and/or rigidity can or cannot much entice, creative potentialities on human birth, in preventive and therapeutic context

Full textOur study reports on how inequality and stigmatization may be visible, constructed and intertwined throughout the trajectory of obese adolescents enrolled in a therapeutic patient education program (TPE). We are helping to provide a new perspective on the issue of implementation and reception of medical norms transmitted during TPE programs by adopting an analysis in terms of disease "trajectories" to analyze different points of view: professionals, adolescents and parents. The study of social interactions involved in social relations, especially class and gender, is honored and allows us to focus on the social dimension of behaviors. We question the differences between the expected or prescribed roles and the roles actually adopted, the strategies of negotiation or resistance between the actors in order to bring out the normative expectations that affect the patients to the point of sometimes revealing a symbolic violence. We also adopt a sociohistorical approach with the aim of retracing the path of norms, by proposing an extension of the notion of "trajectory of illness" by that of "collective trajectory" (Carricaburu, 1999). We include in this research the study of obesity shaping historically conducted by medicine and public health policies that constitute the management conditions, common to the different actors and influencing interactions on the medical scene. Based on the Fat studies perspective, this work made it possible to understand corpulence as a new variable allowing an innovative sociological analysis of discourses, practices and social organization. This work is based on a mixed and multi-site qualitative survey: an analysis of corpus of medical and public health discourse, 38 semi-directive interviews with professionals specialized in the therapeutic education of adolescent obesity (endocrinologist, nutritionist, nurse, sports medicine educator, psychologist, etc.), 21 biographical interviews with adolescents and parents, as well as about 100 observations within FTE programs (specialized centers, hospital centers and health networks)

Full textParents of children with ASD face many challenges that affect their well-being. Parent trainings (PT) in young children with ASD are known for improving the child’s behaviors and reducing parenting stress. The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a French parent training that is based on applied behavior analysis. An initial efficacy study was conducted with 6 parents. Parents have significantly improved their knowledge in ASD and behavioral intervention strategies. They reported an improvement in their child’s behavior. The PT was considered by the parents as effective, the methods used as acceptable and the objectives targeted as important. This promising PT was then improved and evaluated on 18 more parents. Parents have again improved their knowledge in ASD and behavioral strategies whereas children’s socialization skills have improved as well. For 16 parents, the PT has an additional decreasing effect on stress. A manual has been developed with this PT

Full textContemporary, birth is marked by a paradox: it is both widelymedicalized and underinvested by hospital during the postnatal period. The existing schemes for caring at home cannot be seen as a demedicalization process, but rather as a transfer from hospital to social network families and health professionals. The medical follow-up at home is meant to enable the monitoring of families. This thesis shows that the recommendations of these schemes are not fully applied, sometimes to the families’ disadvantage. Furthermore, the schemes are not adjusted to all the people, we have interviewed in Roubaix. Families’ uses of these schemes are diverse, and the investment and role of the professionals depends on formerly established contacts. Whereas some families take over the proposed assistance and profit from it, others families perceive them as control and distrust. This organization can create some difficulties as eligibility requirements are mainly medicals. Moreover, some families do not systematically take up institutional schemes which could prepare them to an early return after delivery, in order to stay away from this system or to opt for their own experience. According to their socio-economic status, their maternity’s experience or their educational background, mothers and their family do not favour the same knowledge (professionals or non-expert). Eventually, home organization depends on the partner, relatives and friends’ investment, which is barely noticed by professionals and can cause personal and familial breakdown

Full textObjectives. Exploratory qualitative analysis of food and nutritional content of blogs run by Quebec mothers in order to identify the relative importance of life course events and experiences, source of influences, and personal food system on their food choices. Methods. Content analysis conducted using the conceptual model by Sobal and Bisogni. NVivo software was used to codify all references to food, nutrition and food choices in the four selected mothers’ blog. Results. The four main categories of Sobal and Bisogni’s model are found in blogs. The category influences is the one that gets the most mention, except for the blog run by a registered dietitian where the references are equally divided between influences and personal food system. Several sources of nutrition information are mentioned, both formal and informal sources. Conclusion. Analysis of blogs allows us to have access to information provided spontaneously by mothers and questions the effectiveness of nutrition messages from health professionals. As the mothers' food choices affect significantly the development of eating behaviors of their children, it is the role of dietitians and other professionals to better define their messages so that they are better understood and adopted.

Full textThe rising popularity of social media platforms among teenagers and the role they are taking as an integrated part of their daily communication has and will continue to raise a number of questions around the concept of security, and more precisely, about online privacy. This research paper aims to explore and compare the perceptions about online privacy in the digital era, first from the point of view of teenagers between 14 and 15 years of age, and then from the point of view of their respective parents. The first step in the data collection process was to ask the students to complete a survey about their online habits and the type of content they publish and share online. In the second part of the research, face-to-face interviews were conducted, first with the teenager alone, then with the parents. The objective was to get a better understanding of the household’s dynamics and to observe the differences in the perception of online privacy. To begin, the data collected has shown significant discrepancies in the online behaviour of teenage girls versus boys. However, the results did not provide any statistical significance in online behaviour in respect to household regulations regarding the use of online communication tools. Furthermore, though widely influenced by personal experience, the interviews with different family members brought up fairly similar definitions of online privacy. The notion of gradation of values has also been approached in their definitions.

Full text[English] Tandemly arrayed genes (TAGs) represent an important fraction of most genomes. A fundamental mechanism at the origin of TAG clusters is unequal crossing-over during meiosis, leading to the duplication of chromosomal segments containing one or many adjacent genes. Such duplications are called tandem duplications, as the duplicated segment is placed next to the original one on the chromosome. Different algorithms have been proposed to infer the tandem duplication history of a TAG cluster. However, their applicability is limited in practice since they do not take into account other frequent evolutionary events such as inversion, inverted duplication and deletion. In this thesis, we propose different algorithmic approaches allowing to integrate these evolutionary events in the original tandem duplication model of evolution. Our contributions are summarized as follows: • We integrate inversion events in a tandem duplication model restricted to single gene duplications, and we propose an exact algorithm allowing to compute the minimum number of inversions explaining the evolution of a TAG cluster. • We generalize this model to the study of orthologous TAG clusters in different species. • We propose an algorithm allowing to infer the evolutionary history of a TAG cluster through tandem duplication, inverted duplication, inversion and deletion of chromosomal segments containing one or many adjacent genes.

Full textBelly-stomachaches in children are a space of hybridity and creolization, affected by social and cultural dimensions. These aches are collectively constructed within nuclear families, with their migratory histories and their sufferings. Having interviewed Haitian families living in Montreal, we documented the illness trajectories, the perceptions, explanations and means of relieving the aches, which all interact in a dynamic mode. Generally speaking, the children perceive their belly-stomachaches as an irregular experience that has an impact on their social life, although tolerated by the children and theirs mothers. Families have not received a medical diagnosis and give temporary, changing explanations to the aches, in a constant reformulation. In general, families will use different methods to deal with belly and stomach aches. The family space, church activities, and official medicine are privileged therapeutic spaces.
