Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex, multifactorial neurological disorder characterized by an insidious onset with progressive symptoms of memory impairment, language deficit, behavioural problems including agitation, mood disturbances and poor judgment. AD involves multiple pathogenetic factors such as A~ production and aggregation, oxidative stress, tau protein aggregation, metal ions (e.g. Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+) and reduced levels of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) enzymes. All these factors play important roles in neurodegeneration associated with AD.

One of the current challenges limiting further development of Rubus resources in traditional Chinese medicine is a poor understanding of phylogenetic relationships among Rubus species in general and

Isolation of phytochemicals from some Nigerian medicinal plants using chromatographic techniques and their evaluation for antiplasmodial activity." Abstract:
Malaria affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide and equally claims hundreds of thousands of lives each year. With the current spread of drug resistance to standard antimalarial drugs like chloroquine and the emergence of artemisinin-resistant parasites, new antimalarial drugs and formulations are urgently needed. An ethnobotanical survey was carried out in this study in search of novel compounds with promising antiplasmodial activity. Using the ethnobotanical approach, a total of 61 plant species from 59 genera distributed in 34 plant families were found to be used traditionally for

Abstract:
This thesis investigated the phytochemistry and pharmacology of boreal plant species used traditionally as treatments for symptoms and complications of diabetes and was completed in collaboration with the Team in Aboriginal Anti-Diabetic Medicine and the Cree of Eeyou Istchee in northern Quebec. Using a novel metabolomic-based approach, we first developed methods of phytochemical analysis to characterize Vaccinium angustifolium extracts and then other medicinal Ericaceae, identifying and quantifying an abundance of phenolic compounds. These methods were then employed to profile the phenolics

There are four kinds of Cedar, three of them naturally present in the Mediterranean Sea region: Cedrus libani, in Lebanon, Syria and Turky, Cedrus atlantica in Algeria and Morocco, Cedrus brevifolia in Cyprus Island While Cedrus deodara in Himalaya Mountains . The wood essential oils of C. libani, C .atalantica and C. deodara inhibited the proliferation of k 562 cell line with IC50 Value of 23.38, 59.37 and 37.09 µg.ml-1 respectively. Meanwhile Cedrus libani wood oils showed a percentage of erythroide differentiation of 15% at the concentration of 5µg.ml-1another side Cedrus deodara wood oil

Abstract:
Abstract Medicinal plants have been for long remedies for human diseases because they contain components of therapeutic value. The growing problem of antibiotic resistance by organisms demands the search for novel compounds from plant based sources. The present study was aimed at evaluating the bioactivity and phytochemical analysis of Hydnora africana on clinical and standard strains of Helicobacter pylori (PE 252C and ATCC 43526), Aeromonas hydrophila ATCC 35654, and Staphylococcus aureus NCT 6571 in an effort to identify potential sources of cheap starting materials for the synthesis of new
