The introduction of printing to England at the beginning of the early modern period intersected with an ongoing interest in matters concerning the querelle des femmes. One result was the production of fourteen translations from Latin and French, twelve of medieval and two of humanist origin. In the oeuvre of Szymon Szymonowic, an outstanding Polish poet of the late Renaissance, Latin works occupy a prominent place, which led to him being called the Polish Pindar. The document known as Statutele Făgărașului (The Statutes of Făgăraș), issued on 15 May 1508, can be considered a monument of old Romanian legislation.
