This is the first record of megascolecid "jumping worms" from Wellington County, Ontario. Amynthas agrestis has previously been reported from Essex, Wentworth and York Counties, and Amynthas tokioensis from Chatham-Kent and Wentworth Counties in Ontario. Finding megascolecids under sod in the middle of a lawn is believed to be a second report.

Observations of gametogenesis facilitated understanding life history and reproductive processes in Megascolides australis, whose reproductive strategies are correlated with longevity, low density and poor dispersal ability. Worms are biparental and have a discrete breeding (egg laying) season in spring and summer. This coincides with the greatest number of mature ova and the glandular epidermis of the clitellar region being thickest. Gametogenesis occurs throughout the year, with sperm present in the spermathecae and available on male funnels ail year. Non-seasonal copulation may occur when tw

Present communication is the first study on earthworm fauna of Chhattisgarh in central India. A total of nine species belonging to seven genera and five families—Moniligastridae, Eudrilidae, Lumbricidae, Megascolecidae, and Octochaetidae—were collected from different parts of the state. Among the families, Megascolecidae is most dominant with maximum number of species; other families are represented by a single species in each. The earthworm fauna of the state is comprised of both native (5 species) and exotic peregrine (4 species). A brief description, distribution and identification key for

Abstract:
Earthworms play a vital role in enhancing soil quality and structure in agricultural ecosystems. This study investigated the diversity of earthworm species found in banana and guava orchards in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, where 166 samples were collected. The results showed that 56.63% of earthworms were in the adult stage. In the banana orchard, researchers identified two families and four species: from the family Megascolecidae, they found Amynthas alexandri, Metaphire posthuma, and Polypheretima elongata, along with one species from the family Moniligastridae, Drawida sp. In the guava orchard,

This checklist lists 98 species and subspecies of oligochaetes (Annelida) that have been reported so far as members of the natural fauna of Taiwan and its adjacent Lanyu (Botel Tobago), Gueishan (Turtle) and Penghu (Pescadore) Islands. Terrestrial oligochaetes have been studied for over a century since 1898, particularly intensively in the past ten years. They are represented by 72 species of which 42 (58.3%) species and subspecies are endemic to Taiwan. They belong to the families Moniligastridae, Glossoscolecidae, Lumbricidae, Octochaetidae, Ocnerodrilidae, and Megascolecidae. Megascolecidae
