Abstract:
We report the first nitrogen 1s Auger–Meitner electron spectrum from a liquid ammonia microjet at a temperature of ∼223 K (–50 °C) and compare it with the simultaneously measured spectrum for gas-phase ammonia. The spectra from both phases are interpreted with the assistance of high-level electronic structure and ab initio molecular dynamics calculations. In addition to the regular Auger–Meitner-electron features, we observe electron emission at kinetic energies of 374–388 eV, above the leading Auger–Meitner peak (3a12). Based on the electronic structure calculations, we assign this peak to a shake-up satellite in the gas phase, i.e., Auger–Meitner emission from an intermediate state with additional valence excitation present. The high-energy contribution is significantly enhanced in the liquid phase. We consider various mechanisms contributing to this feature. First, in analogy with other hydrogen-bonded liquids (noticeably water), the high-energy signal may be a signature for an ultrafast proton transfer taking place before the electronic decay (proton transfer mediated charge separation). The ab initio dynamical calculations show, however, that such a process is much slower than electronic decay and is, thus, very unlikely. Next, we consider a non-local version of the Auger–Meitner decay, the Intermolecular Coulombic Decay. The electronic structure calculations support an important contribution of this purely electronic mechanism. Finally, we discuss a non-local enhancement of the shake-up processes.

Abstract:
In 1913 Kasimir Fajans and Oswald Göhring discovered the element number 91as its short-lived isotope 234mPa. They named it brevium (Bv). The discovery was the result of the displacement law discovered by Alexander Smith Russell, Frederick Soddy and Fajans. According to this law and the periodic system of Dimitri Mendeleev the daughter of uranium UX must contain an unknown radioelement chemical similar to tantalum. In 1918 during the search of the mother of actinium Otto Hahn and Lise Meitner found the long-lived Isotope of Brevium (231Pa), which they designated as protactinium. Later often is written, that Hahn and Meitner have non-only given the name but also discovered the element number 91

Cockerham, Terence. "Zero Anaphora and Meithei." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2012. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc177189/.

Full text
Abstract:
The focus of this thesis is to determine what factors predict zero anaphora in Meithei. The data for this thesis is derived from pear stories. Arguments were tabulated in spreadsheets counting nouns, pronouns, and zero anaphors; they were also examined for their semantic role and information status. The findings showed the agent role was typically represented by reduced forms of reference, the majority of the time by zero anaphora. Other semantic roles were typically represented by lexical full forms of reference. Agents were strongly correlated to previous subjects. Other semantic roles were typically found in the other information status categories. The conclusion drawn from these findings is semantic role and information status influence accessibility, and accessibility determines whether or not arguments are represented by zero anaphors in Meithei.

Abstract:
The paper provides a synopsis of the research activities currently pursued at the Technical University Berlin, Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin and Honeywell Engines & Systems with respect to ceramic/metal joining concept for small ceramic high temperature gas turbine rotors. The objective was to design an interference fit type joint that can be cost effectively produced and reliably transmit torque at elevated temperatures (up to 800°C). Experimental and numerical investigations have been carried out to examine two slightly different designs which both utilize the same basic principle of a shrink fit connection that is able to compensate the thermal expansion mismatch between ceramic and metal and therefore is capable of keeping the contact pressure at the ceramic/metal interface nearly constant over a wide operating temperature range. The joints have been tested under torsional load at isothermal conditions in order to determine the static coefficient of friction and the torque carrying capability, as well as to optimize the joint geometry. The stress distribution inside the joint has been determined by FEA and subsequently evaluated by measuring the residual stress state of the joint in the ceramic by neutron diffraction.

Abstract:
Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) is one ruling approach adopted for developing major translation systems today. Here, we report a phrase-based SMT system from English to Manipuri. The variance in the structure and morphology between English and Manipuri languages and the lack of resources for Manipuri languages pose a significant challenge in developing an MT system for the language pair. In comparison, English has poor morphology and SVO structure and belongs to the Indo-European family. Manipuri language has richer morphology and SOV structure and belongs to the Sino-Tibetan family. Manipuri has two scripts- Bengali script and Meitei script. Here the Bengali script is used for developing the system. Our system uses the Moses toolkit. We train and test the system using the tourism, agriculture and entertainment corpus. Further, we use the BLEU metric to evaluate the systems' performance.
