Abstract:
Durante os últimos períodos da civilização faraônica, o touro Ápis se tornou a figura central de um importante culto popular na região menfita, mas que não se restringiu a ela. Desde suas primeiras aparições em artefatos da 1ª dinastia como um animal vinculado aos rituais da realeza, ele ganhou novas representações iconográficas e a função de guia dos mortos. Este artigo objetiva fazer uma breve exposição de como esse culto evoluiu durante o período faraônico tendo como base as fontes iconográficas e textuais.
