Abstract The semi-automatic waveform-controlled gas-metal arc welding (GMAW) and mechanized flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) processes are commonly used in mainline tie-in welding. Like mainline girth weld construction by the mechanized GMAW process, to reduce the construction cost and minimize unnecessary weld repairs, the fitness-for-service (FFS) approach using Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA)-based weld flaw acceptance criteria were explored for mainline girth weld tie-in welding. The welding, mechanical testing and ECA details were presented in paper IPC2022-86737 for high strength low

This paper discusses various aspects of the structural design of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) offshore racing and cruising yachts. Items discussed are materials, laminates, structural details, and rudders and keels. Emphasis is on those aspects that have been found to deserve attention in that they: are not covered in specific detail in the ABS Guide for Building and Classing Offshore Racing Yachts; are covered but are sometimes not complied with; or are outside the scope of the Guide. The approach is to review the standard and advanced composite materials as they are currently used for ocea

Higher education related to water is a critical component of capacity development necessary to support countries’ progress towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) overall, and towards the SDG6 water and sanitation goal in particular. Although the precise number is unknown, there are at least 28,000 higher education institutions in the world. The actual number is likely higher and constantly changing. Water education programmes are very diverse and complex and can include components of engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, hydrology, hydrogeology, ecology, geography, earth sciences, pu

This paper summarizes the main mechanism and influencing factors for Hydrogen Induced Cracking. The evolution of HIC test requirements over nearly 30 years for linepipe intended for sour service is reviewed. Some typical examples of the requirements for sour service pipe production at Europipe (formerly Mannesmann) developed over the past 20 years and the details of trial production of sour service pipes in grade X 70 with 30 mm wall thickness are presented. However, with the steadily increasing demands, it becomes progressively more difficult to fulfill the before mentioned standard test cond

Pavement performance is a complex issue which depends on many contributing factors. Examining the performance of real-life pavements across the state determines what the actual service lives are for the pavements. For the purposes of this study, only selected LTPP projects were examined, along with a database containing all the historic repair projects completed in Indiana. Pertinent information present in the Indiana Historic Contracts Database was extracted concerning the types of pavement repair and treatments options commonly employed within the state, the time between repairs, etc. These

There is survey evidence that firms exporting environmental goods encounter difficulties with customs procedures at the point of entry. Previous trad
