Full textThis study of the language between mother and child was based on sound documents ; it is all the more important to know the methodological conditions in which this study was carried out, since i recorded my own dialogues with my daughters during several years (45 h of corpus with children aged 2 days to 8 years). The study of this affective language came from the evolution of loving terms given to children, pronoms, pre-language, baby-talk, metalanguage, prosody and play more than an implicit pedagogy of repetitions and syntactical structures, this language bears witness of a regression to the mother, who tends to stoop to her child's level and to live her dual relationship with her own mother over again. The intonations and the height of speech used by the mother are very differents according to the age of the children and above all the image she has of them. The mother to child language is an "in between" language here the mother talks the words from her chilhood. It is not only spoken by mothers ; anyone can remember it from his infancy

Full textAll along this PhD, we try to know if the evolution of the level of phonological consciousness of a child with no hearing problem is affected by his mother’s deafness and if the transmission of knowledge relative to language is not jeopardized by this handicap. Effectively, deafness is a real handicap with serious consequences on a person’s development. It makes, both, communication and progress at school difficult – a lot of deaf people are illiterate. Moreover, as Bruner’s works show it, the child develops and improves his language thanks to the various interactions he has with people around him and his mother, in particular. At nursery school, the child realizes words go together and are composed of syllabes and phonemes, which is called phonological consciousness. It is linked to reading and writing practices. So, phonological training enables children to improve their level of phonological consciousness, thus, they get better results at school. In our research, we have given deaf mothers and mothers with no hearing problem – so as to be able to compare the results – phonological training courses in company with their children. The results we have got enable us to stress the ingenuity shown by deaf mothers to make up for their handicap so that their children with no hearing problem may progress properly

Full textThis study, based on the analysis of facts from observation, is intended to highlight phenomenon of communication both real and spontaneous between a young child and its mother. This is a monographic type study : three different daily activities (bathing, meals and games) in the life of the child, in communication with its mother, have been filmed by the father for nine months (child aged 15 to 24 months). The second part refers to further research and theories on language. The second and the third parts are intended to show the different communicative relations in the interactions between the child and its mother. Reflections on the dialogue, on language attainment and gesture will be found in these chapters too. Finally, the conclusion of the fourth part will promote further investigation on this longitudinal observation during this period of time, and will synthetize the different analysis made at levels both quantitative and qualitative

Full textIt is about a comparative study on the nature and the evolution of the " first words " of two bisexual French twin children between 15 and 26 months resting on the transcription of dialogues adult-child. We interpret the productions of the children in terms of "pre-signs" defined according to the theory of Denise François. The methodology employed within the framework of project CHILDES enables us isolated from the " forms " produced by each child in order to establish their characteristics. Camille and Pierre produce mainly "pre-signs" indicating of the concrete objects. This work checks the significant role of the maternal input in the training of the lexicon. We also noted that the reading of picture books facilitates the pointing of the child on a referent and correlatively the labelling of this referent by the adult. These observations reveal also the importance of the inter-individual variability and intra-familial in the lexical evolution of two young children

Full textThe objective of this study is to etablish the link between the development of social cognition and the language in deaf children. We conducted three studies, one on the early phases of development of this relationship, the others on the later stages of consolidation. In children agede 15 to 40 months, we assess early social cognitive capabilities, during deaf children / hearing mothers' interaction, (simles, looks and joint attention behaviors), and the development of language skills. In 10 years old children, we evaluate in parallel language development, both te lexical componet and morphosyntactic production and comprehension, and development ot theories of mind, by testing the understanding of false beliefs in a nonverbal task. Verbal abilities are first evaluated using standardized-language-task, then using spontaneous productions. The results show the existence of a link between the behaviors produced by the cild during the early interaction and development of this language skills

Full textThe present research is about the effect of an early parting in the process of language acquisition by 3 to 30-month-old infants. The goal is to check whether this unexpected parting, due to a short hospitalization, involves characteristics in terms of mother-infant interactions and prosody. The study rests on the analysis of vocal interactions between mothers and infants : analysis of the infant-directed language (LAB) from mothers, and of the mother-directed language (LAM) from infants. The research protocol, carried out within the PILE Program, is based on video sessions filming 10 mother-infant dyads at different developmental stages of the infant (at the ages of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 30 months). Theses sessions are then analysed with the PRAAT and CLAN tools. We examine three assumptions: an effect of this early parting on the dyad's interactions, a resuiting maternai anxiety, and a distinctive language development of the infant. To this end, numerous criteria are assessed : affective prosody, linguistic prosody, lexical productivity and variety, tone, mean length of utterance, changes in fundamental frequency, mean time of phonation, but also infant's disposition, attachment and maternai representations. The results show a change in the LAB with a higher percentage of joyful prosody than in the control group. The changes in the LAB noticed in the pre-linguistic period and the 3-month gap in the developmental path of language in the clinical group are made up for at the age of 24 months and confirmed at 30 months. The results propose that following an early parting, there would be a process of mutual adaptation of mothers and infants allowing this adjustment.
