Full textThis study of the language between mother and child was based on sound documents ; it is all the more important to know the methodological conditions in which this study was carried out, since i recorded my own dialogues with my daughters during several years (45 h of corpus with children aged 2 days to 8 years). The study of this affective language came from the evolution of loving terms given to children, pronoms, pre-language, baby-talk, metalanguage, prosody and play more than an implicit pedagogy of repetitions and syntactical structures, this language bears witness of a regression to the mother, who tends to stoop to her child's level and to live her dual relationship with her own mother over again. The intonations and the height of speech used by the mother are very differents according to the age of the children and above all the image she has of them. The mother to child language is an "in between" language here the mother talks the words from her chilhood. It is not only spoken by mothers ; anyone can remember it from his infancy

Full textAll along this PhD, we try to know if the evolution of the level of phonological consciousness of a child with no hearing problem is affected by his mother’s deafness and if the transmission of knowledge relative to language is not jeopardized by this handicap. Effectively, deafness is a real handicap with serious consequences on a person’s development. It makes, both, communication and progress at school difficult – a lot of deaf people are illiterate. Moreover, as Bruner’s works show it, the child develops and improves his language thanks to the various interactions he has with people around him and his mother, in particular. At nursery school, the child realizes words go together and are composed of syllabes and phonemes, which is called phonological consciousness. It is linked to reading and writing practices. So, phonological training enables children to improve their level of phonological consciousness, thus, they get better results at school. In our research, we have given deaf mothers and mothers with no hearing problem – so as to be able to compare the results – phonological training courses in company with their children. The results we have got enable us to stress the ingenuity shown by deaf mothers to make up for their handicap so that their children with no hearing problem may progress properly

Full textThis study, based on the analysis of facts from observation, is intended to highlight phenomenon of communication both real and spontaneous between a young child and its mother. This is a monographic type study : three different daily activities (bathing, meals and games) in the life of the child, in communication with its mother, have been filmed by the father for nine months (child aged 15 to 24 months). The second part refers to further research and theories on language. The second and the third parts are intended to show the different communicative relations in the interactions between the child and its mother. Reflections on the dialogue, on language attainment and gesture will be found in these chapters too. Finally, the conclusion of the fourth part will promote further investigation on this longitudinal observation during this period of time, and will synthetize the different analysis made at levels both quantitative and qualitative

Full textIt is about a comparative study on the nature and the evolution of the " first words " of two bisexual French twin children between 15 and 26 months resting on the transcription of dialogues adult-child. We interpret the productions of the children in terms of "pre-signs" defined according to the theory of Denise François. The methodology employed within the framework of project CHILDES enables us isolated from the " forms " produced by each child in order to establish their characteristics. Camille and Pierre produce mainly "pre-signs" indicating of the concrete objects. This work checks the significant role of the maternal input in the training of the lexicon. We also noted that the reading of picture books facilitates the pointing of the child on a referent and correlatively the labelling of this referent by the adult. These observations reveal also the importance of the inter-individual variability and intra-familial in the lexical evolution of two young children

Full textThe objective of this study is to etablish the link between the development of social cognition and the language in deaf children. We conducted three studies, one on the early phases of development of this relationship, the others on the later stages of consolidation. In children agede 15 to 40 months, we assess early social cognitive capabilities, during deaf children / hearing mothers' interaction, (simles, looks and joint attention behaviors), and the development of language skills. In 10 years old children, we evaluate in parallel language development, both te lexical componet and morphosyntactic production and comprehension, and development ot theories of mind, by testing the understanding of false beliefs in a nonverbal task. Verbal abilities are first evaluated using standardized-language-task, then using spontaneous productions. The results show the existence of a link between the behaviors produced by the cild during the early interaction and development of this language skills

Full textThe present research is about the effect of an early parting in the process of language acquisition by 3 to 30-month-old infants. The goal is to check whether this unexpected parting, due to a short hospitalization, involves characteristics in terms of mother-infant interactions and prosody. The study rests on the analysis of vocal interactions between mothers and infants : analysis of the infant-directed language (LAB) from mothers, and of the mother-directed language (LAM) from infants. The research protocol, carried out within the PILE Program, is based on video sessions filming 10 mother-infant dyads at different developmental stages of the infant (at the ages of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 30 months). Theses sessions are then analysed with the PRAAT and CLAN tools. We examine three assumptions: an effect of this early parting on the dyad's interactions, a resuiting maternai anxiety, and a distinctive language development of the infant. To this end, numerous criteria are assessed : affective prosody, linguistic prosody, lexical productivity and variety, tone, mean length of utterance, changes in fundamental frequency, mean time of phonation, but also infant's disposition, attachment and maternai representations. The results show a change in the LAB with a higher percentage of joyful prosody than in the control group. The changes in the LAB noticed in the pre-linguistic period and the 3-month gap in the developmental path of language in the clinical group are made up for at the age of 24 months and confirmed at 30 months. The results propose that following an early parting, there would be a process of mutual adaptation of mothers and infants allowing this adjustment.
Dronne, Suzanne. "Developpement et fonction des expressions modales langagieres dans des situations naturelles d'interaction chez le jeune enfant." Paris 8, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996PA081207.
Full textEarly acquisition of verbal modalities was studied by means of a theoretical and methodological original paradigm. A longitudinal study of three young children, each obsverved at 2;0, 2;6 and 3;0 years, was conducted in five natural situations where the child was interacting with his mother either at the day-nursery place (two different plays) or at home (play, meal and bedtime). Verbal productions have been analysed by means of an adapted taxinomy built from a critical overview of linguistic studies dealing with modalities, and also by means of an analysis of interactive sequences. Results point that production of verbal modalities emerged as soon as two years of age and regularly increased in the studied period (between 2 and 3 years). This development was both quantitative and qualitative. Some modal categories (evaluative, volitional and affective) were more precocious and better developed. Others as epistemic, deontic and ontological possibity categories appeared later and were less important. Situations were also playing a role in the child's productions. The frequency of the child's production of verbal modalities was not directly related to mother's modalisation. A significant proportion of modal productions were expressed at the first person at the begining of the observation (two years old children). Such a result is in contradiction with gopnik's recent assessement. Children verbal modalities appeared at the begining jointly with their mother' modalities, during interactive verbal exchanges dealing with action or comments about situations and actors or, later, they were producted in disconnection with the present material situation. Analyses of verbal sequences clearly shows that they were functional for regulation, and also referred effectively to mental states as soon as two years of age. Results were interpreted through bruner's and vygotsky's concept of scafolding and within a developmental problematics of intentionality

Full textThis study aims to characterize the linguistic and developmental profile of a population of Portuguese-speaking children with specific language impairment (SLI) and analyze, within the context of attachment theory, how the SLI child uses his mother as a secure base, compared to children without language disorders. In the other eAs a final point, we tried to study the predictive value of attachment and developmental variables in the language skills of children. The participants of our study were 83 mother-child dyads (children aged 4-5 years), divided into two groups. Through various measures of language and AQS (Waters, 1995), we found that these children: 1) present, in pre-school age, severe alterations of language, though their profiles are very heterogeneous; 2) are mostly boys, with a ratio of 3:1; 3) show a lower quality of attachment security, when compared with their peers without language alterations, as well as less attachment behaviors, such as smooth interaction, proximity and physical contact with the mother. It was also found that attachment and tobacco use, relationship with friends and family background are predictors of the linguistic difficulties of these children, as well as of language acquisition timing, explaining 7% to 21% of the variance
Nicolas, Sylvie. "Le cri de La Sourde et autres marées (roman) : suivi de Mères et filles : du langage fragmenté à l'écriture de filiation chez Louise Dupré et Marie-Christine Bernard (étude)." Doctoral thesis, Université Laval, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11794/28331.
Full textEntitled Le cri de La Sourde et autres marées, the fictional part of the thesis revolves around a handful of singular characters with whom my mother grew up and that I encountered during my summer stays in Matanie . From fragments of historical facts such as the sinking of the Longfellow in 1902 on the shore of Petit-Matane and the unexpected presence of German submarines in the St. Lawrence waters by the end of WW2, the shaping of the story works as an assemblage of souvenirs, rumours, superstitions and unexplained disappearances. What links a humble barber such as my grandfather Louis-Harmel to the notorious Al Capone? How did the Cordonnier-pas-de-pattes (No-legs-shoemaker), the woman know as La Pipi (The Peepee), La Pouette and La Sourde (The Deaf Girl) get their nicknames? Then again why was my Albertan born mother raised in Gaspésie, on the east coast afar from her biological family of sixteen children? Adopting the movement of the tides, the writing seeks the rumbling sound of silences and unsaid truths seeking to rescue some shreds of memoria. What is at stake here finds its roots in the impossibility for the mother – or what could be interpreted as her refusal to transmit the family history – and the imperative urge for the daughter to insure its continuation. The metaphorical key of this fiction resides in La Sourde and her tragic destiny. Mères et filles : du langage fragmenté à l’écriture de filiation, the second part of the thesis, addresses the mother’s silence and mothers as silent or absent figures in the works of Louise Dupré and Marie Christine Bernard. The research aims to show how the mother figure in some women's fiction could very well be operating in the clandestine. In other words: are there links to be found between the maternal silence (or the silenced maternal) and the fragmentation marks in the structure, language and the narrative body of a text. This study explores silence and language boundaries, rupture and mother-daughter bonds within literary modern writing aesthetics.

Full textAround the second month of life, infants have the ability to partake in vocal interactions characterized by turn-taking sequences, where each partner takes turns. Little is known however, on the emergence of the ability to partake in social interaction in the neonatal period. In the present research, we wish to explore this ability by studying the vocal interaction between the mother and her newborn infant. Fifteen mothers and their newborns were recorded in a face-to-face interaction when the newborns were 2 to 4 days old. The recordings were analyzed from 3 different angles: the content of the mother’s speech addressed to her newborn, the temporal organization of the mother and newborn vocalizations, and the acoustic qualities of the newborn vocalizations. Our results suggest that the mothers attune the content of their speech to the newborns’ behavioral sates, and seem to consider their newborn as a partner in the interaction. Moreover, the vocal interaction is characterized by turn-taking sequences, which rely on the active vocal participation of the newborn. A 1-second window seems be the correct window to appreciate social contingency in the neonatal period. Furthermore, duration of the vocalization seems to be the feature upon which mothers rely to perceive communicative intent in the newborn non-cry vocalizations. Behavioral state 5 appears to have a particular status in the production of non-cry vocalizations. As a whole, this research suggests that the newborn communicates intentionally, and the behavioral states play in important role in communication during the neonatal period

Full textIn the study of the use of referring expressions, numerous studies have looked into the relationship between linguistic forms and informationally defined functions, and have put forth the early sensitivity of young children to certain aspects of information structuring, notably with regard to attentional status of referents and the topic-comment dimension. Interactional linguistics have adopted a complementary approach on referring expressions and have shown how speakers signal and accomplish, by their choice of a referring expression, not only reference, but also various tasks pertaining to the management of interaction proper. Our study aims to shed further light, in a multidimensional perspective, on the use of referring expressions, and especially on the contrast between week, strong and dislocated forms, by studying two languages which exploit different linguistic means to mark sentence topic. Our analysis is based on a cross-sectional database of 12 French- and German-speaking children, aged 2 to 3 years. We analyzed the forms and uses of referring expressions in the children’s and the adult’s speech, by considering morph-syntactic, informational and interactional factors. Results show the complementary nature of these different factors when explaining referring expression use in children and in adults. We were also able to put forth specific uses of certain linguistic means, such as French dislocations, German demonstrative der/die/das and null forms, and we described their functioning within interactional routines that aid the young children to join in on discourse and interaction

Full textThe Creole and French languages are in close contact in Martinique, Creole being the main mark of identity. For our sociolinguistic field study declarations of "lower" class mothers were collected. In order to approach the discourse attitude representation identity system which interacts with the real behaviour of the speakers, a discourse analysis was carried out. Our results show that the ideology of conflict is more and more replaced by a pragmatic perception of the whole linguistic capital offered by martinique's specific bilingualism (diglossia). Social valorizaion of Creole and mastery of French progress simultaneously. The competence of communication is linked to the complexity of the Creole identity : this is expressed by a hybrid linguistic performance transcending grammatical boundaries. The omnipresence of Creole is supposed to make its acquisition very easy, that is why mothers present French as the target language in the process of socialization of their children (sociolinguistic rule). This attitude favours bilingualism, success at school and social mobility. The appropriation of two mother tongues appears in children's responses. Nonetheless, most intellectuals and ideologists consider Creole to be the only native language of the mass

Full textThe aim of this research is to study the way children acquire the referential use of nouns and pronouns in dialogues with their mother. The question is to determine whether the child acquires the pragmatics values of these referential expressions after their morpho-syntactic forms or at the same time? The analysis of our longitudinal data, three French-speaking children aged between 1;11 and 3 years, shows that determiner categories are gradually acquired and that the process implies the use of precursory phenomena, such as ‚filler-syllables‛. We also observe that young children show a certain ability to introduce, maintain and reintroduce referents with appropriate referential expressions. Those findings suggest that the referential valuesof nouns and pronouns are acquired from a very early age in French language

Full textBased on the idea that transmitting language is not only a linguistic act, but a transmission filled with affect, we intend to work on the often complex linguistic course of Tamil children from Sri Lanka. It is in a recent and particular context that most Tamil families have migrated to France. This research concerns children between four and five years old, born in France from parents coming from Sri Lanka. This thesis is part of a research on bilingualism: “A language to another” (which is a Hospital Clinical Research Program) conducted by the multidisciplinary team of the departement of child and adolescent psychopathology of Avicenne Hospital, whereby we were able to assess children in Tamil and French and meet their parents. This research aims at validating a tool which allows assessing the mother tongue and highlighting critical factors to the acquisition of bilingualism. The data in this thesis are collected as part of research on bilingualism. Thus, studying the use of languages and their representations, we found traces of filiation and affiliation in the language of Tamil children. Working on language with the children and their parents, we were able to show that the transmission of mother tongue does not consist only of words and that children are sensitive to what is transmitted beyond the words, through affects and representations. This research aims at better understanding the place of languages in order to provide appropriate care for Tamil children from Sri Lanka having language difficulties

Full textThis study explores the capacity of young children to adapt their communicative behaviors to the social situation. More specifically, we investigate if young children's communicative behaviors differ with fathers and mothers. Past research shows that fathers are more oriented toward task accomplishement than and that mothers are more cooperative intercolutors than fathers. We examine whether young children seem to take into account these characteristics while communicating with their parents. The variation of communicative behaviors are analyzed from two points of view : a) the distribution of the functions and the contents of messages with each parent and b) the form of request reformulations in communication breakdown situations. The results of these two studies show that young children's communicative behaviors are different with fathers and mpthers. Children produce messages linked to task accomplishment more often with father than with mothers while they produce messages not linked to taks accomplishment more often with mothers. These differences also concern messages which initiate conversations. An analysis of parents' behaviors shows results which are similar to those found for children. As regards the study concercing request reformunaltions, children's reformulations are more "demanding" with mothers than with fathers. In conclusion, it seems that young children adapt their communicative behaviors according to the characteristics of each parent

Full textHumaynī poetry is attested since the 14th century and forms most of nowadays urban sung poetry in Yemen, especially in Sanaa. This poetry employs a variety of middle Arabic which cannot be reduced either to classical or to dialectal Arabic. It displays a whole range of strophic and metrical patterns stemming from different Arab traditions, among which the Andalusian muwaššah played a prominent role. The analysis of this poetic language and of these patterns throws a light on Humaynī’s history and on the process which led to the constitution of a repertoire in contemporary practice. This repertoire, though composed of diverse elements, is the basis of a linguistic and literary norm which sets the frame for new poetic compositions. What remains of the poetry of ˁAbd Allāh b. Full textThis research focuses on the acquisition and the development of negation in two monolingual French and English children filmed from 10 months to 4 years and 2 months old (66 hours) in natural mother-child dyadic interactions. We use a functionalist and constructivist theoretical approach (Tomasello 2003) but we also bring together French utter-centred approach to language, language socialisation and gesture studies. Our definition of language encompasses all verbal and non-verbal means of expression speakers use to position themselves within interaction. We developed a multimodal coding system relying on the use of several compatible programs to combine qualitative and quantitative analyses. This method offers the opportunity to investigate the expression of negation in verbal and non-verbal modalities in children under 4.After laying the theoretical background (Part 1), we will present our methodology (Part 2). Results show that negation refers to a vast range of pragmatic functions whose expression is fully embodied because it is conveyed through the synchronisation of several modalities of expression (Part 3). Our analysis of the interplay of modalities in the construction of meaning happens to be a great locus to account for the complexity of language. We also observe that negation is a meta-category which can be expressed by a variety of forms. Our research shows that the usage of synchronised modalities in negative contexts can be considered a linguistic and cognitive skill. Moreover, the set of forms for negation develops and specialises after 3 years and helps the child express various communicative intentions linked to negation

Full textMany researchers have studied lexical and pragmatic-discursive particularities of the language that parents use to address their young child. A literature review shows that there are both differences and similarities between mothers and fathers. However, characteristics of the language that parents use for addressing their child have rarely been studied. Moreover, there is a paucity of studies examining the effects on the child’s syntactic development of dialogue, speech genres and activities during which parent-child dyads interact. This thesis has three goals: i) improve understanding of differences and similarities in the syntactic and pragmatic-discursive aspects of maternal and paternal language and their effect on the child’s language, ii) evaluate the effect of the ongoing activity on the production and the use of mother-child and father-child dyads, iii) investigate the relation between syntactic and pragmatic-discursive dimensions during the language learning process.Seven 3-4 years old native French-speaking children and their parents were observed during two activities: a symbolic play and a picture card game. The syntactic dimensions of their productions were analyzed while considering certain discursive and pragmatic properties related to the use of these productions (status of the child’s interlocutor, type of activity and pragmatic-discursive aspects). Our results suggest that the status of the child’s interlocutor, associated with the type of activity and the dialogue’s specificities, form a body of variables that should be taken into account in order to better describe children’s syntactic uses and their variability

Full textIn this work we set three critical periods in the life of the mother-daughter : childhood of the daughter in Le Bruit des choses vivantes, teen girl in L’île de la Merci and La chute du corps, adulthood of the woman and the old age of the mother in L’ingratitude and Adieu Agnès. Overall, this study is an analysis of the entire cycle of life of a mother and a daughter, from the child's birth until the old age of the mother. Proceeding in chronological order, we will discuss some key issues for the mother-daughter relationship in different periods, such as tension between symbiosis and separation, between choking and independence, between distance and attachment, and different attitudes about sexuality, the condemnation of death and the affirmation of life. Finally through analysis of various relationships between mothers and daughters, we see that, in life, the motherdaughter relationship undergoes great changes that is often full of conflict, misunderstandings, or worse tragedies. However, we can see that there are still possible solutions to fix them. Faced with their complex relationship, which is essential for both the mother and the daughter is to find ways to be informed, to negotiate and to understand each other throughout life

Its aim is to consider both the influence of articulatory constraints (phonatory maturity) and the input characteristics (CDS: Children Directed Speech) on first lexical productions. The data of this longitudinal study consists of spontaneous productions of 8 Arabic-speaking children who have been recorded at home in natural communication environnement with their mothers between 11 and 24 months. Analysis of data executes in two parts. In a first time, we measure the influence of articulatory constraints (biomécanics) by examining the evolution of phonetic complexity of the first words by using the Index of Phonetic Complexity (IPC) (Jakielski 2000). Secondly, we attempt to evaluate the effects of maternal input by the frequency of occurrence of the sounds presents in the CDS. The effects of these two factors are observed according to the linguistic stages of children. Our results show that the IPC children's increases significantly with vocabulary size. Moreover, we showed that although children’s IPC increases with time, its value is always inferior to that of target words. We propose that children’s realizations are the result of some kind of lexical selectivity which is determined by their phonatory maturity. (i.e. words composed of already attested segments in their phonetic inventory). In addition our results reveal that mothers adapt their language to their children’s abilities (i.e. the value of IPC of target words is inferior to that of adult’s words. Otherwise, the phonetic inventory show that the acquisition of the consonant system is also guided by the influence of the frequency of these consonants presents in the CDS. Bilabial consonants, approximants and nasals were acquired earlier because of their higher frequency in the CDS. The shapes of words produced by Tunisian children seem to be influenced also by the ambient language (Tunisian Arabic). With age, Tunisian children produce words increasingly long (three syllables or more) composed of different syllables increasingly complex (CVCC, CVCC). Finally we describe, through analysis of data, the development of the Tunisian first lexical productions that seem to have been more influenced by the phonetic-phonological complexity than by frequency of occurrence

Full textC.G. Jung and his followers have emphazised the importance of the maternal imago forindivuals, groups and societies. This topic was barely developped by Freud, which is not thecase for Freudian analysts of the following generations ; one might cite for example MelanieKlein or D.W. Winnicott. Didier Anzieu and René Kaës, both French psychoanalysts, havemade an attempt to articulate the individual and the collective in their studies about groups andhave confirmed the equivalence of the group and the maternal imago. In this doctoral thesis, Ihave attempted to examine and assess the importance of this maternal representation in Frenchpolitical life during this formative period for French politics which lasts from the Revolution toWWI. I have chosen to study this issue through maternal metaphors and allegories in publicdiscourses, which include political speeches and other discourses, like award speeches at school, for example. I do not give psychoanalytical interpretation, unless it seems obvious. Thereference framework of this thesis is historical research, but psychoanalysis is itscomplementary or shadow framework. The results of the research show that maternalmetaphors and allegories were widely used in most public speeches of that time, in manydifferent forms. Nature (during the Revolution), heavenly Jerusalem or Virgin Mary in theconservative camp, and other maternal representations which were created by the early socialists– among which the “Community” (Etienne Cabet) – as well as Michelet’s maternal andmessianic France. The Republicans’ father - or rather motherland, the religion of Humanity asseen by Auguste Comte and the positivists, the religion of the Earth and the Dead (MauriceBarrès) are some examples... Maternal metaphors and allegories constitute a promise ofhappiness, an ideal and/or a submission request. These mother figures have children, mainlysons. This doctoral thesis confirms the importance of the privileged relationship between motherand son on the political level. Very often the “first” of these sons establishes himself as thespokesman or the interpreter of this metaphor or allegory. Robespierre, Napoléon, the first emperor of France, or Gambetta are some examples. In the ideological or fictional contextwhich these metaphors and allegories induce, there is hardly any room for the individual or forthe woman as such, the relationship between Mother and Son is the main identification modelwhich is proposed

Full textThis commentary follows the article of Moni R. Saha and her co-authors, entitled "Postpartum women's use of medicines and breastfeeding practices: a systematic review." As highlighted in this systematic review, medication use is common during the postpartum period often creating difficulty for mothers. Several studies illustrate the negative impact medication has on breastfeeding, initiation and duration despite reassuring advice from health professionals. Current data only describe the use of medication and behavior adopted by mothers when medication is prescribed. The factors influencing maternal behaviors have not been studied. Behaviors depend on knowledge, representations and attitudes. To better understand the behaviors of mothers faced with medication, we conducted a qualitative study, utilizing semistructured interviews to investigate knowledge, risk perception and difficulties women experienced. The study consisted of a description and comparison of the perceived needs of two populations : 19 breastfeeding mothers and 12 health professionals. Divergences between the two populations were highlighted, focusing specifically, on knowledge needed by the women. This commentary is intended to highlight the need for further research essential to explain the influences on maternal behavior when medication is a consideration, allowing health professionals to better help mothers deal with these situations frequently affecting their breastfeeding plans

Full textLaughter is a social vocalization universal across cultures and languages. It is ubiquitous in our dialogues and able to serve a wide range of functions. Laughter has been studied from several perspectives, but the classifications proposed are hard to integrate. Despite being crucial in our daily interaction, relatively little attention has been devoted to the study of laughter in conversation, attempting to model its sophisticated pragmatic use, neuro-correlates in perception and development in children. In the current thesis a new comprehensive framework for laughter analysis is proposed, crucially grounded in the assumption that laughter has propositional content, arguing for the need to distinguish different layers of analysis, similarly to the study of speech: form, positioning, semantics and pragmatics. A formal representation of laughter meaning is proposed and a multilingual corpus study (French, Chinese and English) is conducted in order to test the proposed framework and to deepen our understanding of laughter use in adult conversation. Preliminary investigations are conducted on the viability of a laughter form-function mapping based on acoustic features and on the neuro-correlates involved in the perception of laughter serving different functions in natural dialogue. Our results give rise to novel generalizations about the placement, alignment, semantics and function of laughter, stressing the high pragmatic skills involved in its production and perception. The development of the semantic and pragmatic use of laughter is observed in a longitudinal corpus study of 4 American-English child-mother pairs from 12 to 36 months of age. Results show that laughter use undergoes important development at each level analysed, which complies with what could be hypothesised on the base of phylogenetic data, and that laughter can be an effective means to track cognitive/communicative development, and potential difficulties or delays at a very early stage
