Abstract:
Predmet rada bila je merna blenda, uređaj za merenje protoka fluida. Cilj rada bio je da se istraži uticaj lokalnog otpora postavljenog ispred merne blende na sledeće strujne parametre: razliku pritiska, pad pritiska, gubitak strujne snage i koeficijent protoka. Razmatrana je merna blenda sa jednim (SHO) i merna blenda sa više otvora (MHO). Analiza je urađena primenom računarske dinamike fluida. Zaključeno je da lokalni otpor postavljen ispred merne blende utiče na navedene strujne parametre.

Abstract. Extreme hydrological events have always been a challenge to societies. There is growing evidence that hydrological extremes have already become more severe in some regions. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is characterized as one of the world’s most water-scarce and driest regions, with a high dependency on climate-sensitive agriculture. There is an urgent need for capacity building programmes that prepare water professionals and communities to deal with the expected hydrological changes and extremes. The most successful capacity building programmes are the country driven ones which involve a wide range of national stakeholders, have a high degree of in-country ownership and have an applicability character. The method of choice to set up such capacity building programmes will be through blended learning.

Abstract:
Forecasting rapid intensification (hereafter referred to as RI) of tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Basin is still a challenge due to a limited understanding of the meteorological processes that are necessary for predicting RI. To address this challenge, this study considered large-scale processes as RI indicators within tropical cyclone environments. The large-scale processes were identified by formulating composite map types of RI and non-RI storms using NASA MERRA data from 1979 to 2009. The composite fields were formulated by a blended RPCA and cluster analysis approach, yielding multiple map types of RI’s and non-RI’s. Additionally, statistical differences in the large-scale processes were identified by formulating permutation tests, based on the composite output, revealing variables that were statistically significantly distinct between RI and non-RI storms. These variables were used as input in two prediction schemes: logistic regression and support vector machine classification. Ultimately, the approach identified midlevel vorticity, pressure vertical velocity, 200–850 hPa vertical shear, low-level potential temperature, and specific humidity as the most significant in diagnosing RI, yielding modest skill in identifying RI storms.

El presente trabajo se sustenta en la construcción de la problemática que identifica a las tecnologías como paradigma de cambio en la educación, dejando de lado que, si estas no se utilizan bajo un enfoque didáctico planeado y organizado, los resultados pueden ser contraproducentes. Los objetivos de la investigación fueron: conocer y analizar las percepciones que el estudiante tiene respecto al aprendizaje significativo que alcanza a través de los cursos mediados tecnológicamente y estudiar las percepciones que el docente universitario tiene con relación a las estrategias de enseñanza mediadas por tecnología que utiliza, todo esto en una modalidad mixta. El estudio se llevó a cabo en una universidad mexicana en la carrera de Derecho. La metodología es de corte cualitativo y se abordó bajo la perspectiva teórica de la fenomenología, para lo cual se diseñaron dos tipos de entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados muestran que la falta de creatividad y retroalimentación por parte del docente ha sido un factor que merma el proceso de aprendizaje del estudiante. Finalmente se sugiere continuar con este tipo de estudios que conlleven a relacionar las modalidades educativas, las estrategias de enseñanza, la mediación tecnológica y el aprendizaje significativo.

Abstract:
The bi-directional impacts of an individual’s psychotherapy on their partner and of the partner and their relationship on the therapy should be a consideration throughout treatment. There is a bias in the literature towards either an individual or a couples approach to therapy, but only scattered mention of working with a blend of the two. This article considers how, during the process of change in individual therapy, new problems might arise in a client’s romantic relationship. Furthermore, the client’s significant other might resist or otherwise hamper their partner’s therapy if they do not accept or understand the changes that are taking place. Finally, some ethical arguments are raised which add to the case that psychotherapists should not ignore the impact that psychotherapy has on their client’s relationships and vice versa.

Abstract:
Capacity building for Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Solutions (DEWATS) can play a significant role in the alleviation of water constraints in Jordan and Palestine. The paper summarises practical experience with a pilot teaching unit for primary schools based on demonstration technology and capacity building in the field of DEWATS. The training programme has the goal of raising public awareness and understanding of water issues, and gives pupils the opportunity to conduct experiments in water/wastewater analysis and build wastewater filters and construct wetlands models. This training encourages reflection about wastewater components and shows the participants the advantages of wastewater treatment and the potential for reusing wastewater in decentralised systems. Additionally, the experiments help students understand wastewater as a resource, especially in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) regions with water shortages. The students build a constructed wetland model, which helps them to view constructed wetlands treatment systems as a modern and ecological treatment technology that blends in well with the environment and can provide solutions for wastewater treatment and irrigation purposes. The paper aims to assess the results of a pilot training project conducted in primary schools during November 2008 in Ramallah, Palestine, and April 2009 in Al-Salt, Jordan. In addition, the paper looks at the essential challenges involved in developing the programme on a national scale in Jordan and Palestine, incorporating it into the official curriculum, and evaluating its local impact with the overall aim of more effective and equitable use and allocation of water resources.

U mnogim granama tehnike javljaju se problemimerenja protoka fluida. Merne blende, zbog svojihmnogih prednosti predstavljaju najzastupljenijiinstrument za merenje protoka fluida kroz cevovode. Sadruge strane njihova upotreba povećava tro&scaron;kove radaindustrijskih postrojenja. Jedan od ciljeva ovedoktorske disertacije bio je ispitivanje novih oblikamernih blendi u cilju u&scaron;tede energije pri njihovom radu.U ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji predložen je algoritamispitivanja novih oblika mernih blendi. Takođe jekonstruisana i izrađena laboratorijska aparatura zanjihovo ispitivanje kao i diferncijalni &quot;U&quot; manometarza merenje malih razlika pritisaka. U okviru ovedoktorske disertacije dizajnirana su i ispitana tri novaoblika mernih blendi. U&scaron;teda energije je postignutadizajnom koji smanjuje otpor merne blende kaoelementa cevovoda. Novi oblici mernih blendi, kao ijedna standardnog oblika koja je poslužila kaoreferentna, ispitani su prema predloženom algoritmu. Uprvom koraku merne blende su dizajnirane uprogramskom paketu Solid Works. Zatim su, premapredloženom algoritmu, ispitane pomoću računarske simulacije u programskom paketu COMSOL Multiphysics. Po dobijanju zadovoljavajućih rezultata računarske simulacije, merne blende su izrađene na 3D &scaron;tampaču, FDM postupkom i ispitane na laboratorijskoj aparaturi. Rezultati laboratorijskih ispitivanja su upoređeni sa rezultatima računarske simulacije. Upoređeni rezultati računarske simulacije i laboratorijskih ispitivanja su pokazali da je računarska simulacija dobro opisivala situaciju. Rezultati laboratorijskog ispitivanja su pokazali znatan efekat u&scaron;tede energije. Takođe je utvrđeno da se pomoću računarske simulacije mogu dobiti podaci na osnovu kojih se može doneti odluka da li novi oblik merne blende treba korigovati ili ima smisla pristupiti laboratorijskom ispitivanju. Algoritam ispitivanja koji je predložen u ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji se pokazao efikasnim.&nbsp;<br>In many domains of technology, there are problemswith the measurement of fluid flow. Orifice plates,because of their many advantages, represent the mostcommon instrument for measuring fluid flow throughpipelines. On the other hand, their use increases theoperating cost of industrial plants. One of the goals ofthis doctoral dissertation was to test new forms oforifice plates for a reason to save energy during theirwork. An algorithm for testing new forms of orificeplates is proposed. Also, the laboratory equipment fortesting them was designed and made, as well as adifferential &quot;U&quot; manometer for measuring smallpressure differences. As part of this doctoraldissertation are designed and tested three new forms oforifice plates. Energy-saving was achieved by a designthat reduces the resistance of the orifice plate as anelement of the pipeline. New forms of orifice plates, as well as a standard shape, which served as a reference, were tested according to the present algorithm. In the first step, orifice plates are designed in the Solid Works software package. Then, according to the proposed algorithm, they were tested using computer simulation in COMSOL Multiphysics software package. After achieving satisfactory results of computer simulation, orifice plates are made on a 3D printer, using the FDM process and tested in the laboratory apparatus. The results of laboratory tests were compared with the results of computer simulations. Compared results of computer simulation and laboratory testing showed that computer simulation described the situation well. The results of the laboratory test showed a significant energy-saving effect. It was also found that computer simulation can obtain data that can decide whether a new form of orifice plate must be corrected or it makes sense to access laboratory testing. The algorithm proposed in this doctoral dissertation has proven effective.

Уз растуће цене енергената, данас је од пресудног значаја тачно мерењепротока флуида у индустријским процесима. Због своје једноставности,поузданости и једноставног одржавања, мерне бленде су честораспрострањени мерни инструменти у многим индустријама.Конвенционална мерна бленда са једним отвором (БЈО) је широкозаступљен мерни инструмент на бази диференцијалног притиска, али овајинструмент има и одређене недостатке, који се могу превазићи мерномблендом са више отвора (БВО). Предмет истраживања докторскедисертације је била БВО. За истраживање су се користилеекспериментална и нумеричка метода, а истражили су се однос површинеотвора бленде и површине попречног пресека цеви &beta;, пад притисака,губитак притисака, утицај угла излазне ивице мерне бленде, утицајвлажности гаса и утицај равних деоница испред и иза мерне бленде натачност мерења. Такође поред овога одредио се и губитак снаге којинастаје код различитих мерних бленди, поврат притиска, коефицијентпротока тј. коефицијент пада притиска. Представљени резултати у оквирудокторске дисертације су показали бројне предности БВО у односу на БЈО.<br>Uz rastuće cene energenata, danas je od presudnog značaja tačno merenjeprotoka fluida u industrijskim procesima. Zbog svoje jednostavnosti,pouzdanosti i jednostavnog održavanja, merne blende su čestorasprostranjeni merni instrumenti u mnogim industrijama.Konvencionalna merna blenda sa jednim otvorom (BJO) je širokozastupljen merni instrument na bazi diferencijalnog pritiska, ali ovajinstrument ima i određene nedostatke, koji se mogu prevazići mernomblendom sa više otvora (BVO). Predmet istraživanja doktorskedisertacije je bila BVO. Za istraživanje su se koristileeksperimentalna i numerička metoda, a istražili su se odnos površineotvora blende i površine poprečnog preseka cevi &beta;, pad pritisaka,gubitak pritisaka, uticaj ugla izlazne ivice merne blende, uticajvlažnosti gasa i uticaj ravnih deonica ispred i iza merne blende natačnost merenja. Takođe pored ovoga odredio se i gubitak snage kojinastaje kod različitih mernih blendi, povrat pritiska, koeficijentprotoka tj. koeficijent pada pritiska. Predstavljeni rezultati u okvirudoktorske disertacije su pokazali brojne prednosti BVO u odnosu na BJO.<br>Nowadays, with rising energy prices, accurate flow measurement is playing animportant role in industrial processes. Due to its simplicity, reliability and ease ofmaintenance, orifice flow meters are very common measuring instruments inmany industries. Conventional single-hole orifice (SHO) flow meter is widelyused differential pressure-based instrument, but this instrument has somedisadvantages that can be overcome by multi-hole orifice (MHO) flow meter. Thesubject of the doctoral dissertation research was MHO flow meter. Experimentaland numerical methods were used for the research, whereas the ratio of theorifice area and the cross-sectional pipe area &beta;, pressure drop, pressure loss,angle of bevel influence, gas humidity influence and straight sections upstreamand downstream of the orifice influence on measurement accuracy wereinvestigated. Also, power loss for different orifice flow meters, pressure recovery,discharge coefficient i.e. pressure drop coefficient were determined. Resultspresented within the doctoral dissertation showed numerous advantages ofMHO compared to SHO.

Abstract:
In this chapter Peter Barry explores poems about stones, on stones and as stones. He shows how our ancestors had a special regard for stones particularly those that seemed out of place, such as glacial erratics. The Ringing Stone on Tiree is one such, bearing numerous cup marks from Neolithic times. He considers how poems have been placed in the environment on trails and paths, sometimes with a didactic purpose as part of an environmentalist interpretive scheme. Some of these have taken advantage of the expressive potential of the stones themselves, and of letter carvers who blend this with their own artistic heritage. Collaborations between carver and poet can make best use of the space between the words that come closest to Barry’s interest in avant-gardeorneo-modernist poetry(especially ‘concrete’ and ‘visual’ poetries). Barry also considers poems in urban settings, in projects involving close collaboration with councils, NGOs and communities, where the words have been incised on bridges, monuments, paths, or pavements, as by Alyson Hallett in Bath, Lemn Sissay in Manchester, Bill Herbert near Darlington, and Menna Elfyn and Gillian Clarke in Tonypandy.
