Abstract:
Öz Bu çalışma Türkiye siyasal kültürünün temel bileşenlerinden biri olan seçim şarkıları üzerine yoğunlaşacaktır. Siyasal iletişimin olmazsa olmazı olan bu şarkılar çok partili döneme geçişten itibaren, siyasal bağlam, kullanılan semboller, melodi ve mesaj gibi söylem analizinin temel faktörleri üzerinden ele alınacaktır. Seçim şarkıları ya bir gösterge formu olan şiirle başka bir gösterge formu olan müziği birleştirerek çok modlu hale getiren, ya var olan bir şarkıyı seçim bağlamına yerleştirip uyarlayan ya da var olan bir şiiri besteleyerek siyasal iletişim amaçlı kullanım pratikleri olarak karşımıza çıkar. Bu bakımdan onları göstergeler arası çeviriden ziyade bir gösterge kombinasyonu olarak değerlendirmek daha doğru olacaktır. Bu çalışma seçim şarkılarını bir gösterge kombinasyonu olarak söylem analizine tabi tutacak ve birer siyasal mesaj olarak dönemin genel koşulları çerçevesinde ele alacaktır. Elde edilen bulgular kullanılan siyaset dili üzerinden farklı dönemlerde icra edilen siyasetle ilgili ipuçları da taşıyacaktır. Ancak çalışmanın ana ekseni seçimlerde kullanılan şarkıları metodik bir söylem analizine tabi tutmaktır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Gösterge, bağlam, sembol, melodi, mesaj.

Bu araştırmada, dünyaca tanınmış arama motoru Google’ın, Google Doodle tasarımlarının geçmişten günümüze tarihsel süreci, tasarımların yıllara göre konu ve teknikler bakımından dağılımının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma (https://www.google.com/doodles) sitesinde yer alan çalışmaların başlangıcından 2021 yılına kadar olan sürecin tamamı alınmıştır. Tasarımlar “Doğum Günü”, ‘Özel Günler’, “Bağımsızlık Günü”, “Milli Günler ve Bayramlar”, “Uluslararası Oyunlar”, “Kutlamalar”, “Yıl Dönümü”, “Sosyal Mesaj İçeren Konular”, “Google Doodle Oyunları”, “Mevsimler ve Gökyüzü Olayları” olmak üzere toplam 10 konu başlığı altında toplanmıştır. Sosyal mesaj içeren konular ise, “Dünya Su Günü”, “Dünya Günü”, “Dünya Kadınlar Günü”, “Ağaç Dikme Günü” ve “Covid-19 Salgını” olmak üzere beş başlık altında incelenmiştir. Google Doodle tasarım teknikleri sabit, hareketli ve etkileşimli olmak üzere üç gruba ayrılmıştır. Etkileşimli tasarım teknikleri ise, slayt, video, tıklama/sürükleme ve oyun olmak üzere dört gruba ayrılarak incelenmiştir. 1998-2021 yılları arasında tasarlanan tüm Google Doodle tasarımları yıllara göre, konu ve tasarım teknikleri bakımından incelenerek elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda tablolar oluşturulmuştur. Google Doodle tasarım konularından en çok "Doğum Günü" içerikli tasarımlar yapılırken, en az tasarım yapılan ise, “Sosyal Mesaj” içerikli konulardan oluşmaktadır. Google Doodle tasarım teknikleri bakımından en çok sabit doodle tekniği yapılırken, en az etkileşimli doodle tasarım tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulama çalışması, “21 Eylül Alzheimer Günü” konusu ile sınırlandırılmıştır.

Nuestro proyecto, Mesa Redonda Online, se presenta como una alternativa de negocio y tiene como finalidad colaborar con el intercambio de compra y venta de diversos productos que se comercializan en el conglomerado comercial de Mesa Redonda. Buscamos satisfacer la necesidad que hoy existe en las personas que no cuentan con tiempo suficiente para realizar sus compras de forma presencial y prefieren hacerlas de manera online desde la comodidad de su casa u oficina. Es por ello que proponemos implementar una plataforma de negocio electrónico con el nombre de Mesa Redonda Online. Nuestra propuesta busca intermediar entre los comerciantes del conglomerado y clientes usuarios que necesiten adquirir productos a través de nuestro aplicativo móvil. Para la puesta en marcha, se desarrolló una investigación de mercado, en la cual identificamos el problema y también su posible solución, los cuales fueron validados y comprobados mediante entrevistas e implementación de un producto mínimo viable, cuyos resultados nos permitieron concretar el desarrollo del proyecto. De igual manera, se desarrolló un plan de marketing orientado a ser competitivos. Implementamos una estructura organizacional propia según el modelo de gestión interna y diseñamos un plan de operaciones, aplicando indicadores de gestión, métodos técnicos y organizativos necesarios para llevar a cabo el desarrollo de nuestro servicio, considerado en 5 años. Finalmente, aplicamos el plan económico financiero para demostrar mediante indicadores económicos y financieros la viabilidad del proyecto, a corto, mediano, y largo plazo. De esta forma, llegamos a la conclusión de que nuestro modelo de negocio es rentable.<br>He objective of the Mesa Redonda Online business project is to be a viable alternative for the commercialization of various products that trade hands in the commercial quarter known as Mesa Redonda. We aim to satisfy the existing need of people who lack the time to do their shopping in person and prefer to shop online from the comfort of their home or office. That is why we propose the Mesa Redonda Online e-commerce platform, which will allow the commercial quarter’s customers and merchants to buy and sell through our mobile application. The first step involved market research, through which we identified the problem as well as its possible solution, which we then validated and verified through interviews and the implementation of a minimum viable product, whose results allowed us to define the development of the project. Furthermore, we developed a marketing plan aimed at being competitive. We implemented our own organizational structure according to the internal management model and designed an operations plan, applying management indicators, technical and organizational methods in order to carry out the development of our service, considering a five-year planning horizon. Finally, we applied the economic-financial plan to demonstrate through economic and financial indicators the feasibility of the project, in the short, medium, and long term. A pesquisa partiu de uma descrição dos processos de construção do trabalho realizado pelo grupo com o objetivo de realizar uma análise das relações criativas, técnicas, operacionais, performáticas e audiovisuais resultantes do mesmo. Para tanto, tratamos: dos conceitos de agenciamento, proposto pelos filósofos Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari referente à multiplicidade; da relação tátil-visual, pela acepção criada pelo filósofo Walter Benjamin; e do conceito de composição criado pelo filósofo Baruch Spinoza na obra Espinosa: filosofia prática de Gilles Deleuze. Identificamos elementos fundamentais do processo de construção do Mesa de Luz e estabelecemos relações entre teóricos da arte e tecnologia, filósofos e obras de artistas plásticos, que utilizam processos semelhantes na concepção de seus trabalhos. Propomo-nos a investigar as características que se instauram na colagem como linguagem nas performances multimidias como processos de multiplicidades. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT<br>The following work is the result of theoretical and practical research, and was based upon the artistic project developed by the Grupo Mesa de Luz1, formed by the visual artists Hieronimus do Vale, Tomás Seferin and Marta Mencarini. The research was launched from a description of the construction processes in the work performed by the group. Its purpose is to analyze the resulting creative, technical, operational, performative and multimedia aspects of this work. In order to achieve the aforementioned goal, we considered the following parameters: philosophers Gilles Deleuze’s and Félix Guattari’s concept of Agency, regarding multiplicity; the tactilevisual relation, as taught by philosopher Walter Benjamin; and the concept of composition, as defined by philosopher Baruch Spinoza in Espinoza: practical philosophy of Gilles Deleuze. Fundamental elements of the processes of construction applied by the Grupo Mesa de Luz were identified. Also, the relations between theorists of art and technology, as well as between philosophy and the work of visual artists that use similar processes in the conception of their art, were established. The goal was to investigate the characteristics that reveal themselves in utilizing collage as a language in multimedia performances as multiplicity processes.

Prema postavljenom cilju istraživanja, ispitivani su kvalitet mesa i mlekapodolskog govečeta u Republici Srbiji.Ispitivanjem je ukupno bilo obuhvaćeno 23 grla, od kojih 12 krava i 11mu&scaron;kih junadi na lokaciji u Bačkoj Topoli.Utvrđena prosečna telesna masa mu&scaron;ke junadi podolske rase, koja sukori&scaron;ćena u ovom istraživanju iznosila je 445,91 kg, sa prosečnim randmanomprimarne obrade od 53,64 %.4Masa glave bez rogova u proseku je bila 12,11 kg, a masa kože je iznosila39,27 kg. Prosečna masa unutra&scaron;njih organa iznosila je: bubrezi sa lojem 4,02 kg,jetra 5,00 kg, srce 1,76 kg, pluća 4,88 kg i slezina 0,86 kg. Utvrđena je prosečnamasa leve polutke od 121,68 kg, a desne polutke od 120,71 kg.Vrednosti kvalitativnih osobina koje su utvrđene kod MLD u proseku subile: L*-svetloća 34,61, udeo a*-crvene boje 20,18, b*-udeo žute boje 6,54, kalokuvanja 44,30 % i sposobnost vezivanja vode 5,52 (cm2). U proseku, sadržaj vodeje iznosio 75,43 %, sadržaj suve materije 24,57 %, sadržaj proteina 21,32 %,sadržaj ukupnog pepela 1,09 %, a sadržaj slobodnih masti 1,90 %. Utvrđenavrednost sadržaja vezivnog tkiva u proseku je iznosila 1,43 %, dok je sadržajhidroksi prolina bio 0,05 %.Vrednosti kvalitativnih osobina koje su utvrđene kod MSM u proseku subile: L*-svetloća 35,41, udeo a*-crvene boje 20,84, b*-udeo žute boje 6,64, kalokuvanja 46,46 % i sposobnost vezivanja vode 7,30. U proseku, sadržaj vode jeiznosio 75,68 %, sadržaj suve materije 24,32 %, sadržaj proteina 21,02 %, sadržajukupnog pepela 1,09 %, a sadržaj slobodnih masti 1,82 %. Utvrđena vrednostsadržaja vezivnog tkiva u proseku je iznosila 0,47 %, dok je sadržaj hidroksiprolina bio 0,06 %.Ispitivanjem senzornih osobina kod MLD i MSM utvrđeno je sledeće:Intezitet boje MLD iznosio je 4,1, a MSM 4,0. Prosečna vrednost teksture MLDiznosila je 4,3, a MSM 4,1. Mramoriranost MLD u proseku je iznosila 4,0, a kodMSM 4,3. Utvrđena prosečna vrednost nežnosti MLD iznosila je 4,4, a kod MSM5,3. Sočnost kod MLD u proseku je iznosila 5,1, a kod MSM 4,7.Ispitivanjem osobina mlečnosti ustanovljeno je, da je prosečno trajanjelaktacije iznosilo 152 dana, prinos mleka u proseku je bio 988,00 kg, sadržajmlečne masti 4,24 %, a sadržaj proteina 3,99 %. Poređenjem osobina mlečnostiizmeđu prvotelki i starijih krava utvrđeno je, da je prosečno trajanje laktacije kodprvotelki iznosilo 148 dana, a kod starijih krava 156 dana, količina mleka kodprvotelki u laktaciji iznosila je 907 kg, a kod starijih krava 1.056 kg. Sadržajmlečne masti kod prvotelki iznosio je 4,23 %, a kod starijih krava 4,25 %, dok jesadržaj proteina u mleku kod prvotelki iznosio 3,94 %, a kod starijih krava 4,04 %.Prosečne vrednosti svih ispitivanih osobina mlečnosti između prvotelki istarijih krava nisu se statistički značajno razlikovale (p&gt;0,05).<br>Towards the objectives of research, we examine the quality of meat and milkof Podolian cattle in the Republic of Serbia.The study included a total of 23 animals, of which 12 cows and 11 steers atthe location in Bačka Topola.Determined by the average body weight of steers the podolian breed, whichwere used in this study was 445,91 kg, with an average dressing percentage ofprimary treatment of 53,64 %.8The mass of the head without the horns, the average was 12,11 kg, a mass ofskin was 39,27 kg. The average weight of internal organs were: kidney with fat4,02 kg, liver 5,00 kg, heart 1,76 kg, lungs 4,88 kg, and spleen 0,86 kg. Determinethe average mass of the left carcass of 121,68 kg, and the right carcass of 120,71kg.The values of qualitative traits that were found in MLD on average were:L*-lightness 34,61, part of a*-red color 20,18, part of b*-yellow color 6,54,cooking loss 44,30 % and water holding 5,52. On average, the water content was75,43 %, total solids content of 24,57 %, protein content 21,32 %, ash content 1,09%, and free fat content of 1,90 %. The average valueof the texture MLD was 4,3 and 4,1 of MSM. Marbling MLD averaged 4,0 and 4,3for MSM. The determined average value of tenderness MLD was 4,4 and 5,3 forMSM. Juiciness of MLD averaged a 5,1 in MSM 4,7.The examination of milk traits were found that the average duration oflactation period was 152 days, milk yield on average was 988,00 kg, milk fatcontent 4,24 % and 3,99 % protein content. Comparison of milk production traitsbetween primiparas and older cows showed that the average duration of lactationin primiparas amounted to 148 days, and for older cows 156 days, the amount ofmilk in lactating primiparas was 907 kg, and for older cows 1.056 kg. Milk fatcontent at first calving was 4,23 % and 4,25 % of older cows, while milk proteincontent at first calving was 3,94 % and 4,04 % of older cows.The average values of all the traits of milk production between primiparasand older cows were not significant (p&gt; 0.05).

It was carried out from the perspective of the study of everyday life as a way to perceive the experiences of the common man in the processes of societal change. We conducted a case study through observations and interviews in which we seek to apprehend the representations of the patrons of establishments that have a particular feature, almost mandatory, that their clients share a table. From the theoretical references which allow considering food as a means for the analysis of social relations; the construction of rules of behavior in society; eating out and the changes of the interactions in public space, we analyze how the definitions of behaviors considered appropriate for the occasion affect relations among strangers in the restaurant area. We could see that the behavior shared by clients have the effect of dismissing the strangers, through rules that guide people\'s attitudes so as not to disrespect others.<br>A presente pesquisa tem como objeto as relações estabelecidas entre indivíduos que não se conhecem, em restaurantes no centro da cidade de Uberlândia - MG. Foi realizada a partir da perspectiva do estudo do cotidiano como forma de perceber as experiências do homem comum e suas vivências nos processos de mudança social. Por meio de observações e entrevistas, realizamos estudo de caso no qual buscamos apreender as representações dos frequentadores de estabelecimentos que têm por característica particular a quase obrigatoriedade de que seus clientes dividam uma mesa. A partir das referencias teóricas que permitem pensar a alimentação como um meio para a análise de relações sociais, a construção de regras de comportamento em sociedade, o comer fora de casa e as alterações das interações no espaço púbico, analisamos de que maneira as definições dos comportamentos considerados adequados para a ocasião condicionam as relações entre desconhecidos no espaço do restaurante. Pudemos perceber que as condutas partilhadas pelos clientes têm por efeito dispensar os estranhos do contato, por meio de regras que orientam as atitudes das pessoas para que não se desrespeite os outros.<br>Mestre em Ciências Sociais

Abstract The initiation and development of mesa corrosion attack during CO2 corrosion of carbon steel has been studied in flow loop experiments performed at 80 °C and pH 5.8. Video recordings of growing mesa attacks have been performed in a test section with a glass window in the corrosion loop. These observations have shown that the mesa attack can grow both laterally and in depth below a lid of original corrosion film before the film is tom away stepwise by the flow. Possible mechanisms for initiation of mesa corrosion attack are discussed based on the observations from the video recordings. Mesa attacks can result from several small local attacks growing together into one large mesa attack.

Abstract Experimental results on initiation and growth of mesa attack at 100 - 150 °C are presented and compared to previously published results at 80 °C. The risk for mesa attack is reduced at temperatures above 100 °C, and this is caused by improved protectiveness of iron carbonate corrosion films. Experiments have demonstrated that mesa attack can develop during CO2 corrosion of carbon steel by localized corrosion beneath an iron carbonate corrosion film and subsequent removal of the remaining iron carbonate film by flow forces. It is important to take account of the understanding of this mechanism during development of prediction models for localized CO2 corrosion.

The majority of these reports, however, deal with localized pitting or more generalized acid attack resulting from carbon dioxide corrosion. Much less has been written about "mesa-type corrosion" - so named because of the uncorroded plateaus of cathodic areas adjacent to deeply corroded anodic areas creating the appearance of a flat plain and mesa plateau. This paper discusses mesa-type corrosion, its occurrence in oil production facilities in Peru, investigations into causes and control, and implementation/evaluation of remedial actions.

Abstract The effects of alloying elements such as Cu, Ni and Cr on CO2 corrosion of the low C-Mn-Nb type API X65 grade steel were investigated with the use of a rotary immersion tester at temperatures of less than 90°C. The corrosion rate of the steel increased with the addition of Cu, while it decreased with the increase in Cr content. In a high pH environment, i.e. pH=6 and in a high temperature condition, i.e. 80 °C, Cu and Ni accelerated the occurrence of mesa attack. However the occurrence of mesa attack was prevented with the addition of Cr which concentrateds in the scale. The mesa attack did not occur in the steel containing Cr and Cu. The linepipe steel with Cr content of 0.5mass% proved to have excellent properties even in a wet CO2 environment.

Abstract Local breakdown of protective corrosion films may result in rapid local attack or mesa corrosion attack during CO2 corrosion of carbon steel. The factors affecting formation and local breakdown of protective corrosion films were studied in a series of flow loop experiments performed at 40 - 80 °C with pH 5.8, 1.8 bar CO2 partial pressure, high iron content in the water and flow rates 0.1 - 7 m/s. Carbon steels with or without chromium and nickel additions up to 1 % were tested. Addition of 0.5 % chromium in the steel was found to reduce the tendency for severe mesa attack in carbon steels during CO2 corrosion significantly. Deep mesa attack did not occur in steels with 0.5-1 % Cr in experiments at 80 °C and pH 5.8. Protective corrosion films reform more easily in the chromium containing steels, making localized attack less dangerous in chromium containing steels than in unalloyed carbon steels.

Educaţia nu face excepţie de la această afirmație, fiind un domeniu în care activităţile se realizează prin excelență cu ajutorul comunicării. Or, a educa înseamnă a transmite, a comunica informaţii şi cunoştinţe. Acest tip de comunicare este numit comunicare didactică. Ea presupune un mesaj educaţional elaborat de profesor şi orientat spre elev, este studiată într-un număr impunător de lucrări ştiinţifice, constituind un subiect interesant şi important pentru didactica modernă. Cu ajutorul comunicării, cadrul didactic transmite stimuli verbali, cu scopul de a modifica comportamentul elevului. Astfel, abordată din această perspectivă, comunicarea didactică are obiectivul primar de a modifica starea cognitivă a elevului, adică ceea ce el ştie deja. Comunicarea didactică se bazează pe cultura emoţională a profesorului, iar eficienţa procesului educaţional este determinată de competenţa de comunicare a cadrului didactic, care derivă din măiestria acestuia de a elabora mesaje educaţionale în funcţie de particularităţile câmpului psihopedagogic în care îşi desfăşoară activitatea.

Autorii nu urmăresc să-și impresioneze cititorii cu strategii discursive sau didascalii deosebite. Ei încearcă să-i atragă și să-i sensibilizeze prin fabulă și mesaj. Piktogram, işaretlerin, nesnelerin resmedilerek sembol haline getirilmesine verilen addır. Sembollerle yazı kullanılmakta ise kullanılan bu yazı sistemine piktografi ismi verilmektedir. Covid-19 ile beraber maske sembolü hayatımıza girmiş ve ‘Maske Tak’ piktogramları kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Piktogramlar evrensel nitelik taşımaktadır verdikleri mesaj herkes tarafından anlaşılabilir olmalıdır. ‘Maske Tak’ piktogram çok yeni bir ihtiyaç olduğundan evrensellik kazanamamış farklı tasarımlar ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Bu araştırmada ‘Maske Tak’ piktogramları’nın İzmir Buca esnafında sıklıkla kullanılan 5 farklı piktogram grafik tasarım ilke ve elemanlarına açısından nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Araştırmada incelenen piktogramları grafik tasarım ilke ve elemanları yönünden incelenerek evrensellik kazanması için uygun olup olmadığı belirlenmiştir. 5 farklı ‘Maske Tak’ piktogramları’nın grafik tasarım ilke ve elemanları açısından işlevleri tartışılmıştır.

Abstract:
The Dry Creek quadrangle, situated on the southern flank of Grand Mesa in Delta County Colorado, features high topographic relief with a 1,246.7-m (4,090 ft) variance between its highest and lowest points. The slopes in the upper third of the map area are part of the southern flank of Grand Mesa and are characterized by higher elevations and hummocky, south-facing slopes where landslide deposits overlay Paleogene to Eocene Green River and Wasatch formations. The upper hummocky terrain transitions southward to cliffy mid-elevation sandstone outcrops of the Upper Cretaceous Williams Fork and Iles formations. A regional productive coal interval, the Cameo/Wheeler coal zone, occurs in this interval above the Rollins Sandstone Member of the Iles Formation. In the lower valleys and southern part of the map area, bouldery gravel mantle low-gradient mesa and river terrace surfaces that cover the Upper Cretaceous Mancos Shale. Landslides also occur along steeper slopes of the mesa flanks and terrace risers. The highest elevation of the Dry Creek quadrangle is 3.097.0 m (10,160.8 ft) above mean sea level (AMSL) at the northeast map corner within the Grand Mesa National Forest. The lowest is 1,850.3 m (6,070.5 ft) AMSL at its southwest boundary. The annual precipitation in the map area ranges from about 100 cm (40 in) along the northern map area where alpine forests are predominant, through a mid-elevation semi-arid Gambel oak, pinyon- juniper, woodland climate of the high alluvial mesas, to a low of about 33 cm (13 in) at lower- elevation semi-arid shrublands in the southwest corner of the map area. Seasonal snowpack occurs in the high country of the map area.

Este trabajo analiza la experiencia de Argentina con las Mesas Sectoriales, un instrumento de diálogo público-privado desplegado en el periodo 2016-2019 bajo la responsabilidad del Ministerio de la Producción. Luego de un proceso de aprendizaje, las mesas sectoriales se consolidaron como un mecanismo importante al interior del gobierno para el diseño de instrumentos de política productiva. Las mesas sectoriales permitieron identificar y dar visibilidad a ciertos obstáculos que afectaban el desarrollo de diversas actividades productivas. El mecanismo de mesas generó presiones para que aquellos actores del sector público con competencias para resolverlos prestaran la debida atención, pasando del diálogo y el diagnóstico a la acción, facilitando la coordinación y generando soluciones a los obstáculos identificados. Con el tiempo, las mesas sectoriales constituyeron un instrumento valorado por el conjunto de actores participantes. Un elemento clave de su éxito fue contar con apoyo al más alto nivel político, involucrando a los responsables de las agencias clave, a los ministros y al presidente mismo. Asimismo, se constituyó un equipo de gestión profesional de las mesas que fue fundamental para organizar el proceso de diálogo, dar seguimiento a los temas planteados y realizar las gestiones necesarias para que los compromisos asumidos sean cumplidos en tiempo y forma. El informe analiza las principales características de las mesas sectoriales, sus objetivos, modalidades de conducción política y gestión ejecutiva, las metodologías de implementación, los ejes de trabajo y los actores participantes.

In 2015, the Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division (NSNSD) received a request to collect baseline acoustical data at Mesa Verde National Park (MEVE). Between July and August 2015, as well as February and March 2016, three acoustical monitoring systems were deployed throughout the park, however one site (MEVE002) stopped recording after a couple days during the summer due to wildlife interference. The goal of the study was to establish a baseline soundscape inventory of backcountry and frontcountry sites within the park. This inventory will be used to establish indicators and thresholds of soundscape quality that will support the park and NSNSD in developing a comprehensive approach to protecting the acoustic environment through soundscape management planning. Additionally, results of this study will help the park identify major sources of noise within the park, as well as provide a baseline understanding of the acoustical environment as a whole for use in potential future comparative studies. In this deployment, sound pressure level (SPL) was measured continuously every second by a calibrated sound level meter. Other equipment included an anemometer to collect wind speed and a digital audio recorder collecting continuous recordings to document sound sources. In this document, “sound pressure level” refers to broadband (12.5 Hz–20 kHz), A-weighted, 1-second time averaged sound level (LAeq, 1s), and hereafter referred to as “sound level.” Sound levels are measured on a logarithmic scale relative to the reference sound pressure for atmospheric sources, 20 μPa. The logarithmic scale is a useful way to express the wide range of sound pressures perceived by the human ear. Sound levels are reported in decibels (dB). A-weighting is applied to sound levels in order to account for the response of the human ear (Harris, 1998). To approximate human hearing sensitivity, A-weighting discounts sounds below 1 kHz and above 6 kHz. Trained technicians calculated time audible metrics after monitoring was complete. See Methods section for protocol details, equipment specifications, and metric calculations. Median existing (LA50) and natural ambient (LAnat) metrics are also reported for daytime (7:00–19:00) and nighttime (19:00–7:00). Prominent noise sources at the two backcountry sites (MEVE001 and MEVE002) included vehicles and aircraft, while building and vehicle predominated at the frontcountry site (MEVE003). Table 1 displays time audible values for each of these noise sources during the monitoring period, as well as ambient sound levels. In determining the current conditions of an acoustical environment, it is informative to examine how often sound levels exceed certain values. Table 2 reports the percent of time that measured levels at the three monitoring locations were above four key values.
