STILE E MESSAGGIO SULLA COLONNA DI MARCO AURELIOQuesto lavoro affronta il problema di come stile ed iconografia forniscano insieme l'‘evidenza estetica’ per i messaggi impartiti dalla colonna aureliana. La discussione è soprattutto focalizzata sulle scene di battaglia e violenza, che hanno una posizione particolarmente prominente nel contenuto narrativo del fregio elicoidale. L'analisi di queste scene ha lo scopo principale di contribuire alla nostra comprensione della percezione della vittoria romana e della sconfitta dei barbari rappresentate sul fregio. Il concetto coerente di stile e messaggio mostra come esistesse una stretta relazione tra la formazione dello stile e l'iconografia del monumento, e le circostanze storiche della sua erezione. Alla luce di questi risultati, la asserita incoerenza tra la personalità di Marco, il ‘filosofo imperiale’, e le raccapriccianti scene di violenza rappresentate sulla colonna, viene rivalutata.

Abstract:
L’extravagantes delle Revelationes coelestes di Santa Brigida narra l’ascesa al Monte Gargano. Questo testo racconta un episodio della vita di Brigida e invia un preciso messaggio ai lettori, mentre opera su diversi livelli: il simbolico, il narrativo ed il teologico. Pertanto, la descrizione del paesaggio, proposta da Santa Brigida, rappresenta piuttosto un paesaggio dell’anima. L’ambiente è però dipinto con colori foschi e non rimanda alla realtà. L’esposizione culmina nella visione angelica nella grotta di San Michele. Qui gli angeli giustificano il decadimento generale con la corruzione morale delle popolazioni locali. Sicché si può ritenere che la descrizione del paesaggio del Gargano costituisce piuttosto un ammaestramento morale. Un espediente di successo dunque, che trasmette messaggi incisivi.

Nell’articolo si analizzano i rapporti tra parola e immagini nella comunicazione di alcuni media mostrando come i codici verbale e iconico, se accoppiati, sono spesso incoerenti fra loro, tanto da impedire la comprensione del messaggio. Inoltre, si esamina il processo di scrittura del messaggio verbale in rete, mettendolo in relazione con i testi semicolti: in entrambi i casi mancano la progettazione e la revisione. Un punto di partenza per insegnare una scrittura di massa strutturata e sequenziale, talvolta accompagnata da immagini, può essere quello di una riflessione linguistica e testuale sui testi verbali frammentati che circolano nella rete.

Abstract:
L’idea di realizzare questo lavoro di ricerca sulla traduzione nell’ambito pubblicitario sorge da un interesse nell’analisi del linguaggio della pubblicità, sia nelle sue componenti psicologiche e persuasive che in quelle linguistiche. La pubblicità è oggi uno dei principali motori dell’economia, un canale di comunicazione diffuso in maniera sempre più capillare ed uno strumento estetico ed ideologico di massa, che condiziona il modo di guardare le cose in maniera decisiva. Con la globalizzazione e la necessità di esportare i prodotti di ogni paese a livello mondiale, ha assunto un’importanza fondamentale la traduzione degli annunci di promozione di questi prodotti finalizzata alla localizzazione dei messaggi pubblicitari, in contrasto alla tendenza alla globalizzazione linguistica. Questo lavoro si propone di analizzare proprio questo contrasto tra la necessità di adattare il testo al paese e alla cultura del destinatario e, d’altra parte, l’internazionalizzazione e standardizzazione dei messaggi, la situazione in cui questo contrasto sorge ed il modo in cui viene risolto. Partendo dalla descrizione delle origini del termine “pubblicità” nel tentativo di definirne il concetto, passando attraverso la descrizione dei suoi obiettivi e funzioni e descrivendo il processo persuasivo ed i diversi modi in cui la pubblicità può essere classificata, vengono spiegate le strategie traduttive del messaggio pubblicitario, le situazioni particolari in cui tali strategie sono applicate ed i loro fini. Vengono descritte le tecniche di traduzione applicate al nome del marchio, il modo in cui i riferimenti culturali presenti nell’annuncio vengono adattati ai diversi paesi e le tecniche traduttive adattate al mezzo di comunicazione e ai vari recettori. In seguito si descrive l’importanza della forza appellativa ed espressiva di ogni testo e della struttura testuale nella traduzione degli annunci e il modo in cui vengono adattati gli elementi grafici e la grafia durante la traduzione, terminando con alcuni esempi concreti di errori di traduzione di annunci pubblicitari.

The De miseria humane conditionis (1191--1195) by Lotario di Segni (Pope Innocent III) was a greatly influential text in medieval culture, and was translated and reworked in many European languages. Early translations of the work, however, have been usually overlooked by scholars. This is true in particular of Della miseria dell'uomo, composed in the second half of the 13th century by the Florentine judge Bono Giamboni.
My thesis consists in an extensive comparison of Bono's Della miseria dell'uomo with Lotario's De miseria humane conditionis. My purpose is twofold: to detect the differences between the two texts; and to understand how the two texts correspond to two completely different historical contexts. How the spirit of Lotario's text was transformed a century later into Bono's work? Bono's Della miseria reveals some crucial dimensions of the mentality and sensitivity of the communal age. It transforms Lotario's discouraging analysis of earthly life into a moral treaty conceived according to a more realistic and serene mentality. Bono feels compelled to console those who are burdened by the tribulations of life; to encourage sinners to humble themselves and repent; and to give hope to men of good will in order that they become better persons. He thus conveys a positive vision of life. It is not by chance that the last part of Bono's treaty deals with paradise.

Die Überprüfung von Übersetzungen gilt als wichtige Phase für alle Textsorten, vor allem in Kontexten, wo das translatorische Ergebnis hochwertig sein muss, wie in der Europäischen Union. Es ist aber schwierig, wie bei der Übersetzung, diese Phase eindeutig zu regeln, da sie von vielen Faktoren, wie z. B. von der verfügbaren Zeit, von der technischen Schwierigkeit des Texts und von der Textsorte, abhängt. Die vorliegende Masterarbeit ist aus der Notwendigkeit heraus entstanden, die im Rahmen der Praktika bei Amplexor s.à.r.l. und bei der Generaldirektion für Übersetzung erlernte Theorie und Praxis zu beschreiben und zu analysieren. Es geht um die Anwendung der terminologischen und translatorischen Theorie und der Theorie im Rahmen der Überprüfung von Übersetzungen anhand der praktischen Überprüfung von zwei bestimmten Dokumenten, d. h. die von der Generaldirektion Wachstum veröffentlichen Mitteilungen und Notifizierungen. Das Ziel der Masterarbeit ist die Vorstellung einer theoretischen Basis in einem bestimmten, d. h. europäischen Kontext, die zur Überprüfung von technischen und legislativen Texten dienen soll, und die Beschreibung von praktischen Beispielen, die die Überprüfung von bestimmten Aspekten der Übersetzung ins Italienische rechtfertigen. Die vorliegende Masterarbeit zieht die Bedeutung der Überprüfung und ihre Klassifikation, das Prinzip der Mehrsprachigkeit in der Europäischen Union, die sprachlichen Merkmale von Rechtstexten, die verschiedenen Vorschläge zur Überprüfung und die Hilfsmittel zur Überprüfung in Betracht. Die konkreten Beispiele helfen bei der Anwendung der oben genannten Aspekte.

Il fenomeno noto come Internet of Things costituisce oggi il motore principale dell'espansione della rete Internet globale, essendo artefice del collegamento di miliardi di nuovi dispositivi. A causa delle limitate capacità energetiche e di elaborazione di questi dispositivi è necessario riprogettare molti dei protocolli internet standard. Un esempio lampante è costituito dalla definizione del Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), protocollo di comunicazione client-server pensato per sostituire HTTP in reti IoT. Per consentire la compatibilità tra reti IoT e rete Internet sono state definite delle linee guida per la mappatura di messaggi CoAP in messaggi HTTP e viceversa, consentendo così l'implementazione di proxies in grado di connettere una rete IoT ad Internet. Tuttavia, questa mappatura è circoscritta ai soli campi e messaggi che permettono di implementare un'architettura REST, rendendo dunque impossibile l'uso di protocolli di livello applicazione basati su HTTP. La soluzione proposta consiste nella definizione di un protocollo di compressione adattiva dei messaggi HTTP, in modo che soluzioni valide fuori dagli scenari IoT, come ad esempio DASH per lo streaming multimediale, possano essere implementate anche in reti IoT. Le prestazioni di queste soluzioni dipenderanno dalle specifiche caratteristiche dello scenario di applicazione. I risultati ottenuti mostrano inoltre che nello scenario di riferimento la compressione adattiva di messaggi HTTP raggiunge prestazioni superiori a CoAP.

In questa tesi inizialmente ci si è occupati di definire ed approfondire le caratteristiche della tecnologia Wi-Fi Direct, illustrandone il funzionamento, l’architettura e gli scenari di utilizzo. Successivamente è stata sviluppata un’applicazione basata su tale tecnologia, con lo scopo di fornire un servizio di disseminazione di messaggi d’aiuto in situazioni di emergenza o di catastrofi naturali, nelle quali la rete cellulare viene inevitabilmente meno. In queste occasioni c’è il bisogno di avere uno strumento che permetta di comunicare in maniera facile, veloce e che sia alla portata di tutti. Caratteristiche e qualità proprie di uno smartphone, dispositivo che oggigiorno è presente nelle tasche di ognuno di noi. L’obiettivo finale infatti, sarebbe quello di creare un applicativo che possa idealmente essere preinstallato in ogni nostro dispositivo, un servizio che sia diffuso, compreso ed utilizzabile istantaneamente da tutti, in modo tale da essere una sicurezza e un aiuto di vitale importanza in situazioni di pericolo. Per lo sviluppo di una tale applicazione ci si è basati sul sistema operativo Android, che è il più diffuso tra gli utenti di tutto il mondo. Nel primo capitolo ci si è occupati di di presentare ed approfondire la tecnologia Wi-Fi Direct, definendone gli ambiti generali di utilizzo e le problematiche che vengono affrontate. Nel secondo capitolo si prosegue con la presentazione della tecnologia in ambiente Android, descrivendo le API fornite da Google per l’utilizzo del servizio in questione. Nel terzo capitolo, dopo un’analisi dei progetti che coinvolgono tale tecnologia, viene illustrata l’applicazione creata, le sue funzionalità e caratteristiche ed eventuali casi d’uso. Nel quarto capitolo è stata inserita la parte più tecnica, dove illustro i problemi incontrati e le modalità di risoluzione degli stessi, insieme alle strutture ed agli oggetti messi a disposizione da Java che sono stati utilizzati. Infine nel capitolo conclusivo è stato fatto un riepilogo del lavoro svolto, indicando le difficoltà incontrate ed eventuali possibili miglioramenti e sviluppi futuri del mio progetto.

In recent years, upon the rapid growth of telematics industry and wireless network developments, the appearing of Instant Messaging software has significantly changed the pattern of how people work and communicate. The police’s work focuses on maintaining local security and traffic safety. They stress speed and efficiency in their work, so the importance of communication and coordination is self-evident. LINE, an instant messaging(IM) software has also been widely used among police organizations to improve the efficiency of internal communication and administrative management. Although IM applications bring convenience with communication, they also cause intangible working pressure, workload or disturbance. This study investigates on how using LINE application on duty may affect a police officer’s work performance, and go in depth examining the correlation in between the cause of increasing workload and disturbance with using IM applications and how this may affect individual’s work performance. This study conducted a random sampling survey with police officers working in Wenshan District, Taipei City as the research object. A total number of 250 questionnaires was distributed, and a number of 231 valid copies was collected back with a result of a 92.4% return rate. The research method used SPSS software as a statistical analysis tool to verify the research hypothesis through narrative statistics, reliability and validity analysis, independent sample T-test and one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s Method verification and regression analysis. Research results show that using instant messaging software can increase productivity. However, you should still pay attention to the timing to avoid additional load or interference.

Sent by an out-of-work dotcom executive named Robin Sloan, the six-character text message, a bit of banter between friends, garnered more attention than the war in Afghanistan or the swine flu pandemic. “Oh lord,” it read. The message was sent at 10:28 a.m. PST. By 3:47 p.m. a CNET news story proclaimed, “Twitter hits 5 billion tweets,” quoting Sloan’s two-word contribution to telecommunications history, and noting that he’d geekily dubbed it the pentagigatweet. The following day newspapers around the world, from the Telegraph in England to Il Messagero in Italy, had picked up the story, yet the most extensive coverage was on Twitter itself, where nearly 30 percent of the estimated 25 million daily messages referenced the benchmark. The numbers were impressive. But more remarkable than the level of popularity achieved in the mere thirty-eight months since the microblogging service launched in 2006 was the degree to which those who used it felt responsible for building it. The megatweeting greeting the pentagigatweet was a sort of collective, networked navel-gazing. In the days following the five billionth text message Twitter was atwitter with self-congratulation. That sense of personal investment, essential to Twitter’s growth, was entirely by design. As Jack Dorsey explained in an interview with the Los Angeles Times about the company he cofounded, “The concept is so simple and so open-ended that people can make of it whatever they wish.” Dorsey based the service on his experience writing dispatch software and his insight that the best way to observe a city in real time was to monitor the dispatches coming from couriers and taxis and ambulances. Twitter was created to put that experience in the hands of ordinary citizens, literally, by asking people to periodically send in text messages by mobile phone answering the question “What are you doing?” All participants would be able to follow the stream of responses. In other words, Twitter was formulated as a sort of relay, utterly dependent on the public for content.

Due to medical advances, life expectancy is getting longer andlonger. Consequently the elderly population is growing and newchallenges will be faced in the coming decades. In this context, thispaper presents the development of a monitoring system for theelderly. The system includes a wearable device to detect falls, apanic button to be activated if the user feels unwell, and a speakerthat beeps when medication is required. If the wearable deviceidentifies a fall or detects panic button activation, an alert messageis automatically sent to the mobile device of the responsible for theelderly. The expected result of this project is to efficiently monitorthe elderly and to promote the quality of life and safety for elderlyover 60 years.
